I bought a $200 gaming PC secondhand thinking that I scored the deal of a lifetime but the question is did I get scammed again but I think the motherboard is dead can we rescue this nightmare let's dive into the chaos clean up this monstrosity and hopefully we can see how it [Music] [Music] performs [Music] [Music] a well we got it all par and I must say it was a pleasant surprise not finding any bugs the unfortunate thing about this case however is it is super sticky there is so much dust caked on more dust multiple layers mountains of it and we have so much coolant spillage throughout I feel like there is going to be staining on this build I mean even with our previous builds that we've cleaned up just a little bit of coolant that sits there for a while leav stains everywhere now I will be able to remove the color it's just going to be dark patches here and there but we will do our best to completely get it off if we can now we are going to be using some special chemicals on this system as well to try and get rid of that smell it is really not pleasant at all and if you guys remember all of the fans were set to exhaust on this system there is so much dust in here that is caked on every single part I mean the front was terrible and even the back just has dust everywhere so what I think we'll do is we will blow the system out using air and then we'll get the hose in there see what else we can remove and then hit it with a special solution let's get into it if you are sick of this Watermark and not being able to utilize all of Windows features then head not over to hooks.com purchase a Windows 10 Pro key for $16 or a Windows 11 Pro key for $22 use my code II 25 for 25% off with loads of payment methods copy your code from the user Center and paste it here to activate they also provide you with a step bystep guide and 24-hour [Music] support [Music] this has to be one of the best case cleanups I think we have ever completed on the channel and seriously with the state that this was in being one of the most dirtiest cases that we've ever had I'm surprised there is not any stains on it anymore like we removed all of the red liquid and there was no stains whatsoever we've also gotten rid of all of that dust that oil that was caked all over especially at the front side there the only negative I can find here is just general wear and test scuff marks but also there is a real real tiny bit where the liquid was pulling where it had started to rust a little bit that is still in there overall this has cleaned up really really nice it looks brand new apart from the general wear and tear now remember we did have the reservoir on the outside so what I'm actually thinking is because there was four hard drives I don't even know if we'll use them more but I might actually upgrade the system with some more nvme slots remove two hard drive bay cages and actually slot in the reservoir down the bottom there so everything is inside of the case and we don't have these wonky tubes hanging outside of it it looked a bit weird anyway let's continue on now this is impressive stuff I mean there's a mini civilization living on here there is enough fluff on here that you can make a Woolen jacket for winter if you look closely it is like a mini Mount Everest of fluff on here I mean there is layers upon layers it is absolutely caked now you got to remember all of the fans were exhausting out the system so it constantly receiving so much dust not only that but it feels super sticky so I think even when we get the air blower on it we're still going to be left with quite a bit so I may even have to get the toothbrush in all of the fins to actually remove and loosen up all of this dirt and then give it a good hose out well there's no time like the present so I think we better Dive In [Music] a [Music] now the radiators were quite an interesting one if you remember there was such a buildup of Gunk on here in fact there was so much on there there was so sticky and you can actually see a little bit of staining from where that major buildup was we did our best to get rid of everything and I can't see any dust or anything on there anymore it has left a little bit of a stain where the major buildup was we got the toothbrush in there as well which actually worked a treat because we're able to get in between all of the fins without actually damaging them as well so was the best way for us to clean it out after we tried to hose out all of the major parts and of course blow it out with air now in general they're in pretty good condition I do see a little bit of wear and tear in and amongst the radiator around the sides but what I'm not too happy about at the moment is how much the chemicals were able to clean up on the inside I'm thinking I might go for another round but go a little more aggressive with the chemicals let it sit there overnight maybe to eat away at all the gunk cuz I can still see a little bit of red so I'll go do that leave them overnight and they looking pretty good as is I think let's continue all right time to see if it works we'll see how much of the red it got up remember the water was running through clear Let's see we left the chemicals overnight oh that is like a dark purple it just amazes me how much dust this PC actually had I mean what do you have to do to accumulate this much dust it's absolutely disgusting now I think the only way I'm going to be able to get in all of the little nooks and crannies is by getting the tooth brush in there maybe some earbuds as well they might be able to get in nice and close into all the small gaps that I cannot reach with my hands but before we even do that I feel like we kind of need to see if we can blow majority of it away let me know in the comments if your PC is just as bad as [Music] this did you know below the dust we actually had some fans these cleaned up extremely well remember they were all set to exhaust on the system as well so we're going to make sure that we get the fan set up absolutely perfect this time and I just noticed that all of these have led rings on them as well I'm not sure if the LED lights still work or not so that is going to be a test when we plug them in for the first time I just can't believe how brand new these things look now this is one of the biggest concerns for me for this build and that is the power supply it is actually quite decent 80 plus gold certified 150 W so I really hope that the liquid overtime has not gone inside the power and fried the inside Hardware I mean it has taken a full Reservoir worth of liquid over time so the chances of that seeping in are very high however down the bottom looks to be pretty clean so we'll just have to go in and see apart from that it's just dirt and dust everywhere so we'll get that all cleaned up especially on the inside I can see a lot of dust so let's open it [Music] up [Music] so ultimately at the end I actually decided against going in and I had full intention of going on the inside to fully clean it out I got the blower in there removed all of the loose dust that I could and I started to do it but it's got these weird Clips on here and I've never experienced this before with other power supplies and it seems to hold this in place thermal Tech definitely didn't want anyone inside of here and I started to sort of apply them open a little bit with some tools but I was doing more destruction than good with this power supply so the only problem is I don't know if the power supply works or anything like that or if any liquid got in I mean the power supply was facing down so I'm hopeful that nothing got in but what we'll do is we'll test it before we put it in the system just to make sure and I mean if it is damaged then we'll go ahead and replace it now taking a closer look at The Rim it is the hyperx predator and this is a 16 GB kit and it's generally in a fantastic condition all it has is bit of dust stuck through it especially around the edges and in the heat sink here so I might actually grab the toothbrush just to loosen it up in the heat sink cuz I don't think any other tools are really going to fit in there and then just there a little wipe over and it's pretty much ready to [Music] go [Music] [Music] now these are the parts the most worried about there is dried coolant all over this and even even on the inside of the PCB so this is what I'm really worried about but according to the water block they are either R9 290x or r9290 of course two of them as you can see there is dust built up everywhere on both of them actually the back of this one's actually worse than this one yeah as I said the coolant is what I'm most worried about I'm glad it's not an acrylic block as well so I don't have to worry about staining but we're going to do our best to remove all staining on the inside of this water block as well and get it completely cleaned and looking brand we change the thermal pads over the thermal paste we'll change everything make sure it's nice and fresh and the unfortunate thing is we don't know if they're working or not this one is actually missing two screws at the back as well so I'll go ahead and see if I can find some replacements for this one let's get [Music] [Music] cleaning this has to be one of the worst GPU blocks that we have ever serviced in our history of building PC there's obviously been coolant leakage throughout and it's actually started to rust some parts of it I'm hoping it's just surface rust it does look like surface rust so I'm hoping we could just remove it even the screws have surface rust on as well but check out the fins there they are completely compacted I mean that is just super smooth to touch there's no Rippling where all the fins are it's just incredible how much Gunk is in there it is going to be a tough job to get this one clean but I'm just determined to do it and I kind of have to do it because we don't have any other coolers to go onto the PCB of the r9290 it's going to be tough but let's get into [Music] it [Music] so this is about as good as I could get it I managed to get majority of the staining off I actually removed all of the stuff in between the fins I went through actually with this exacto knife or whatever you call it um and I was able to get some real big chunks out which was uh quite scary no wonder that looked all blocked up in there but overall we did a pretty good job the toothbrush was doing a good job at getting a lot of the stuff out but it wasn't removing a lot of the staining on the inside there even the toilet brush wasn't really working well either um I did go lightly with this it's more abrasive so I needed to be careful so that I wasn't stripping any of the nickel plating off and I mean due to all of the overtime use on here there is a little bit of stripping of the nickel plating I can see a bit of copper showing through here and there but overall this is now now usable and I got it fully unblocked so I'm quite confident in this water block time to get it back [Music] installed these r9290 blocks were an absolute mess as you guys saw before now what you guys saw on camera was just a little bit of what we ended up doing we actually figured out a solution to clean the CPU block so well so I actually went back in and I did that exact same Solution on the GPU blocks and they turned out so good there was still a little bit of staining here and there just from General wear and tear but I got all of the color out and they look fantastic I mean look at them they look brand new apart from General wear and tear scratch marks but I'm just so glad I was able to get all the dust out and all of that colored staining now after cleaning the GPU water blocks I have my doubts with the CPU block so first of all the top is acrylic whereas the GPU blocks I wasn't able to get them fully clean but they have an accentral top so you can't actually see them the inside so it's not as bad now I remember on the GP blocks the nickel plating it was damaged a little bit some of the nickel plating was taken off and some of the copper was starting to come through also had to get a little bit more abrasive to actually be able to remove some of those stains cuz they would really embedded in the nickel plating what I'm worried about here is that because we have an acrylic top you'll actually be able to see any defects on the inside and any stains that are left over so this is the part I'm most worried about especially the low insert which directs the liquid down and into the micro fin channels that is going to be extremely hard to clean up and I doubt that we're going to get it completely clear so we will do our best but I don't have a lot of Hope for it let's get into it [Music] [Music] you know considering where this started I'm so happy with how this ended up I legit spent maybe 2 or 3 hours just on the acrylic top piece for this CPU water block now you got to remember acrylic reacts to a lot of chemicals so the there's only certain chemicals you can use so I was actually quite surprised that we got it as clean as we did now the major surprise was actually that plastic insert which controls the direction of flow of the water to force it through the fins that was the hardest part of the whole block now it's certainly not without its flaws there are still little bits of wear and tear here and there but overall I'm super stoked about it this is our gigabyte G1 1151 socket motherboard this is paired with an i5 I believe it's a 2600k the thermal paste is kind of covering a lot of it but 2600k does make sense now on the motherboard we have so much dust caked on here it is very sticky especially the pcie slots loads of dust on there we've got dust in and amongst all around this area here as well as on all of these joints here the power and reset has a lot of dust in it and then the back IO over here has a lot of dust which is stuck in all of the connectors so we may have to get our toothbrush into those hard to reach places to see if we can loosen up all of that dust I mean even the ram slots they need the toothbrush in there because there is so much dust just sitting inside CPU is going to be pretty easy it's just removing thermal past bit of isoprofit alcohol and we should be [Music] good [Music] check out how well the motherboard cleaned up no more dust on there got rid of all the oil and sticky stuff throughout no more dust in the ram slots either and the CPU is nice and clean I got the CPU wrong before I don't know why I said 2600k is actually the 6600k 2600k is a much older platform had a bit of a mind blank I guess but now that it's clean we can move on to the next product the hard drives actually look in pretty good shape the only thing wrong with them is a bit of dust here and there they don't feel sticky or anything so I think it's going to be pretty easy to clean these up so we have 5 1/2 tab in total for hard drive storage and then we've got 1 tab in total for nvme storage let's give them a wipe [Music] down the hard drives and nvme drives clean up really well and what I've decided to do is actually remove all the hard drives from the system number one not only is it going to clean up all of the cable clutter inside with the S cables no longer needed number two we're going to be installing a Gen 4 nvme drive it's only going to operate at gen 3 speeds but the most important thing is it is 4 terab in storage and it is much faster and reliable than these hard drives here I mean we don't know how old these hard drives are we don't know if there's anything wrong with them this I've only used once in a system I know it works perfect and so the new owner of the PC is going to have fast reliable speeds now that everything's completely clean it's time to [Music] rebuild [Music] [Applause] [Music] I'm going to be swapping out the two 140 mm fans for three 120 mm fans and there's a few reasons for this number one I can actually fit three of the 120 mm fans here so it's going to even out the pressure inside the case these are also higher performing fans fans as well so we've got three high performance vers four i''s say average fans and the next reason is that the mounting of the pump res combo was on a 120 mm fan at the rear so now we need a 120 mm fan at the front in order to make it work properly so we'll go ahead and get them [Music] installed [Music] okay guys it is finally together and now to see if it works it's time for the very first boot come on so we got stuck in a little bit of a boot loop we were getting code c0 and then it would reset now I did a bit of research and there seems to be a common issue where there was a glitch on bios updates that were F20 I believe it was called back in the day now we currently have F22 on here but I'm going to see if there's a later BIOS version to see if that fixes the issue the code c0 is commonly referred to a bent motherboard pin or maybe some faulty Ram or faulty CPU which is probably why we were sold this for such a low price but we'll see what we can do to fix it it's an easy fix and we won't just scammed so I checked for some bent CPU pins the motherboard's completely fine the CPU is not damaged either I actually swapped out the CPU for this CPU here it is an identical i56600k and I've also tried one ram stick in all slots still getting the same issue and I've noticed that the motherboard actually has a really bad Bend to it so I have a feeling it is the motherboard that is the issue so what I'm going to do is I found a z270 motherboard that I have on the shelves I'm going to swap out everything that is on this motherboard onto that see if we can get it to work if it does work then the motherboard is the issue and we have been scammed well I don't think there's much more to say that scammed us I'll be acting him very shortly unfortunately trying to contact him he has blocked me so let's just hope Second Time Lucky let's hope I can find another one of those motherboards secondhand so that I also don't lose value on the CPU block as well let's give it a try it works [Music] GTA 5 1080p we were seeing 110 to 160 FPS the CPU was approaching that 40° Mark and the GPU also at that 40° Mark G 1080p ultra settings we were seeing between 65 and 90 FPS depending on where we were on the map the GPU was actually a little bit higher at 45° C and the CPU peaked at around 42° C rocket League 1080p the GPU hit 44° C the CPU also hit 44° C and we're seeing an average of around 150 FPS was actually quite smooth gameplay cyber Punk is a more demanding game but we still managed to get 1080p medium setting and this was between 45 and 55 FPS I believe if we put it on low settings we'll be able to play at 1080p 60 FPS the GPU was at 44° C and the CPU was at 44° as well the brand new Counter Strike 2 1080p we were seeing between 70 and 90 FPS and I really suck at this game it was very hard for me to get some gameplay footage I was dying literally every second now as much as we don't like to be scammed there's just something about the used Market that is really exciting for me and we absolutely enjoyed cleaning this system up and seeing what we could turn it into and so ail and I have decided to create a new series where we're actually going to be flipping our budget PCS and seeing how much profit we can get and how long it takes to save up for something worth value something like a car or a house I think that' be a pretty fun and exciting series that we could do and it also allows us to get back into the mid and budget systems clean them up first and then flip them to see how much we can make if you're interested in that make sure you subscribe and let us know Down Below in the comments thanks for watching and we'll see you all in the next one
