well I'm out here today to put in another survival cash and today I'm going to bury a rifle so today what I'm burying is a fully functioning 1022 rifle I'm burying this rifle specifically because a lot of times I have a handgun on me like today I'm carrying a Sig legion and most of the time I have an ar-15 pretty close or a bolt-action rifle or something like that but a 22 is probably my best bet for obtaining a lot of small game so in this case I'm gonna stick a 1022 on the ground what's going to go in this cache so obviously the 1022 rifle I'm going to put 200 rounds of ammunition and 200 rounds of ammunition let's just say I shot 2 to 3 rounds a day this roughly should be enough ammunition to for me to procure food for a couple of months theoretically then I'm also going to stick in a little bit of food and the reason I'm going to do this is if by some chance I get to this cache and I'm completely starving then I want enough to at least get a little back a little bit of energy back in me so I can be effective hunting so I've got the ever-present salted nut roll thanks Touareg and mike for that if you haven't checked out his channel check it out and then a couple of these millennium bars so between those three things there's almost a thousand calories worth of food so what else I have in this cache is since I'm burying a rifle I also want to bury some basic cleaning and maintenance supplies for it so I have some cleaning rods oil and a couple of little wrenches in here that allow me to do basic maintenance to the rifle a rag for cleaning and then I've got a desiccant pack so I haven't been putting desiccant packs in some of my sustainment caches but in this cache I'm going to simply because the heating and the cooling of the metal may attract condensation to it and a condensation stays on the metal for periods of time it may rust and then most importantly I've got a couple of 32 milligram caffeine gel packs caffeine's pretty much the most important survival food to me so I've got out of some of that in there so that's what's going in the cache now what I'm going to use to put this cache together and I'll show you guys that as I put it in is I've got one of these this one's made by corer and this is an anti corrosive gun bag so I am going to slide the rifle and all of the supplies if they'll fit inside this bag first along with the desiccant package then I've got a couple of heavy-duty trash bags I'll put around the outside of it some duct tape and this pad right here I'm going to wrap around the rifle so that it has a little padding mainly so when I go to dig it up when I'm shoveling in the ground I don't have to be really really careful and there will be a little bit of protection around the rifle so I don't hit it and damage it with a shovel when I go to dig it back up so this VIP bag has a Velcro closure and it's really thick it's a really thick material I've got the rifle in the bag now I'm going to slide my other stuff into the bag and drop the desiccant pack all right let's go put this thing in the ground I want to make sure this doesn't get found so I'm going to cut a nice plug roughly the shape of the hole that I need and I'm going to dig this down about 12 maybe 18 inches we'll see how the digging is here but I've got a tarp laid out so that as I dig the hole I'm going to move the dirt up on top of this tarp so that after I'm done digging the hole when I go to fill it back in I'll be able to pull all my dirt off of the tarp and then I'll leave the ground as clean as possible now something I wanted to mention to you guys is I tend to place all of my caches that I bury in the fall and the reason I do that is because it's after the hunting seasons number one now I'm reading up remote enough out here where the chances of somebody walking across this place would be pretty rare but nevertheless if it's going to happen hunting season is probably one of the highest probability times the second reason that I do it in the fall is because we start getting our inclement weather in the fall and that means that any disturbance I make has the best chance of being erased the quickest by the elements by the first rain snow falls frost things like that all right so now I've dug my plug I've set it as undisturbed as I can off to the side now I'm going to continue digging this hole down and as you can see I'm digging the hole just slightly bigger than the rifle package at this point I've hit bedrock so I've pretty much bottomed out my digging hand I'm gonna set the rifle in one more time but I'm about 14 15 inches or so from the top of my rifle package to the top of the soil so I think I'm going to call that good and go ahead and start burying this back in now I'm just kind of camouflaging the final spot but it's really important when I lay these twigs down that I lay them down the same way they were when I found them so that the bleached part is up see the difference in color I need that darker side down now I'm just going to gather a little bit of duff and kind of scatter it around over the top of this a little bit to just continue to camouflage it a little bit more all right you can see the spot here to my left hits I've got a pretty well camouflaged I noticed looking at it from a distance that I need a little bit more of this yellowish grass on top of there so as I back out of here I'm going to dress it up a little bit with that and then do kind of a final on my footprints and everything so we'll see how this one does my plan is to leave this in the ground come back in a year and check it out see how the food did this one's only buried about 14 inches down to the top so the food's probably 15 16 inches down so it could possibly freeze but it's all dry stuff so we'll see how it does in the in the freezing and thawing and moisture and then most importantly I want to see how does that rifle do so I'm going to cover my tracks real good and back out of here and I hope you guys enjoyed and we'll look forward to digging this thing up in a year coyote works out you watch the narcos one on Netflix I saw like three episodes of it a good show he had it um it was
