church is us we are a church and so wherever we are this morning we are going to worship the lord in spirit and in truth we are going to surrender all to god we're going to give ourselves our way we're going to consecrate the space that we are in to the lord and the declarations and we are going to just give god all the praise this morning so please stand with us [Music] i give myself away witness to those to whom you have called us we are fully aware of god that we are in a world of god that is constantly changing spinning on an axis seemingly away from you but god you have called and empowered your servants that we o god can be bearers of the gospel through word and deed you have called us almighty god that we will be the light in darkness you have called us almighty god that we are to be your mouth and your hands and your feet healing god through us your people oh god may you move your power of the holy spirit and heal those to whom we have come in contact with on a daily basis who need to be healed by you all of us need a special touch from you almighty god but even more so now dear lord in the midst of all the panic and mayhem in the midst of a pandemic oh god covered 19 in the midst of constant death and dying in the midst of the tyranny of uncertainty almighty god now more than ever we need you o god lord as we seek you and pursue you lord may we encounter you lord jesus may we encounter you jesus as our rock our rock lord that we can constantly depend on lord may we find you lord as we pursue you especially in a time like this in a time of high uncertainty in a time when death is high in a time when even crime is high lord help us to encounter you more than ever almighty god jesus we need you more now more than ever we need you lord as we continue lord jesus so to bask in the in the space of your presence lord truth is that we are making ourselves available to you oh god we are making ourselves available to you now more than ever in the midst of our own personal realities we are saints who constantly sin god we seek your forgiveness lord as we constantly pursue you oh god and for and your forgiveness lord we ask that lord jesus we will be found worthy to worthy servants of god to serve you lord even as we minister before you lord jesus how our hearts long for you o god we long for you now more than ever now sometimes oh god when everything seems so foggy in a time oh god when uncertainty is looming and rising in a time of god when we are so often unsure of self and unsure of what is happening around us jesus we are asking you to just pass by us one more time almighty god just pass by us lord and touch us but those who are mourning you promise to be our comfort comfort those who mourn oh god for those whom have lost their their their only bread winner for those whom have lost countless amounts of friends and family and neighbors and loved ones for those who have lost persons whom they were absolutely close with for for those who have lost persons whom they have wanted to to set the disputes with but never got the chance almighty god please visit them even now lord god visit us even now lord god and comfort us with your mercy lord we thank you for being our god even in these uncertain times because we are reminded that the god of the mountain is still god in the valley we are still reminded oh god that when things go wrong you will make them right we are certain of god that we can depend upon you our lord jesus christ because you know what is best for us and you give what is best to us jesus as we yield ourselves to you even now comfort us we pray in jesus [Music] is indeed an awesome god reverend francis will lead us now in the sacrament of the holy communion we place you at the highest place [Music] for you are the great high priest we bless you higher [Music] as we come to you and worship your fears the gifts of god for the people of god now that the supper of the lord is spread before you lift up your minds and hearts above all faithless fears and cares let this bread and wine be to you the grace and witnesses of your lord and savior jesus christ and the love of god and the full fellowship of the holy spirit let them consecrate your lives afresh to god and pray for strength and grace to do and bear god's holy will listen to the gospel jesus declared i am the bread of life whoever comes to me will never be hungry whoever believes in me will never be thirsty a timely reminder for god so loved the world that he gave his one and only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life for god did not send the son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him let us offer our personal prayers of confession as you prepare for holy community let's pray we drag ourselves to you this morning oh god tired and weary hot and bothered conscious of our own sinfulness conscious of our own fights and our own struggles conscious of who we are living god whom not even the grave could subdue you promised lord that your resurrection power equates to our salvation forgive us from our sins lord jesus as we come to you please help us to be embraced by your mercy for we ask these in and through jesus over christ the apostle paul tells us of the institution of the lord's supper for the tradition which i handed unto you came to me from the lord himself jesus on the night of his arrest he took bread and after giving thanks he broke it and said this is my body broken for you do this in memory of me after the supper he took the cup and after giving thanks he said this is the new covenant sealed by my blood whenever you do this do it in membranes often every time we eat off the spread and drink from the cup you proclaim the lord's death until he comes let's pray we thank you almighty god for this bread and wine signs of your body broken and your blood portal thank you jesus that you offered yourself for for us so that together we can serve you receive salvation and have a space with you in the kingdom of heaven for we say thanks in jesus name amen we sing together the hymn on a hill far and wine as we continue to pursue you in faith we are conscious that you have called us to missions as you lead us help us to be enabled by your power your presence and your spirit that we will follow blessings upon our lives have been consistent lord stemming from your faithfulness and so this morning god we acknowledge your financial blessings and lord we bring back a portion into this your storehouse and we ask lord jesus that you will continue to bless us bless our gifts lord and help lord that prudence will be exercised in the way that it is expanded we give you thanks amen or unable prophets no harm sing to the lord all the earth proclaim his salvation day after day declare his glory among the nations his marvelous deeds among all peoples for great is the lord and the most worthy of praise he is to be feared above all gods the new testament lesson second corinthians 4 from verse 1 to 6 therefore since through god's mercy we have this ministry we do not lose heart rather we have renounced secret and shameful ways we do not use deception nor do we distort the word of god on the contrary by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of god and even in and even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled to those who are perishing the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of christ who is the image of god for what we preach is not ourselves but jesus christ as lord and ourselves as your servant for jesus's sake for god who said let light shine out of darkness made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of god's glory displayed in the face of christ the word of the lord i love to tell the story all bonds churches is missions mon and today we will reflect on an aspect of mission our theme or union theme keeping faith with the word in an ever-changing world and my sub-theme for reflection is simply rescue the perishing rescue the parachute let's pray master god we come to listen to your word please transform our hearts with it as we are surrendered to you through jesus christ our lord amen [Music] please keep your bibles open so the new testament [Music] rescue the perisher the church is called to mission to rescue those who are decaying those who have moved away from and those whom have never encountered our lord and savior jesus christ i like how the beginning of the texts here verses one and two put it therefore since it is by god's mercy that we are engaged in this ministry we do not lose heart we have renounced the shameful things that won high we refuse to practice funny we are reminded that in the process of mission we must be aware of self-care because we do not want to be preaching to others getting others into a right space with god and we ourselves be wasting away from from god therefore as the author rightfully say it's important that we do not lose heart it's important that we do not lose heart since it is god's mercy that we are engaged in the ministry it's important that we do not lose heart it's important we do not lose heart since it is important that we have to ensure that we are also on the journey towards the process of salvation just as much as we encourage our brothers and sisters to come on that journey with us let me raise three thoughts quickly one the last rescue the perishing the lost but if our gospel is hidden it is veiled to those who are perishing simply because they are lost the lust is slowly but surely perishing they are decaying daily as they lack substantial nutrients for life they are losing their life support they are losing their oxygen you know an important thing for us to remember about the lost is that the lost are those who seem purposeless yes they are purposeless have no sense of direction have no sense of purpose have no sense of of of of of of being led by god's spirit have no sense of the reality of the gospel of christ the lost the lost failed to grow and the such are lacking the purple their own purpose they are losing the will to live they are losing the will to serve they are losing the will to be and to become who god is calling them to since they have no sense of direction from god and since they are not being nourished by the spirit of god their lives are not spirit led they are not being spirit fed they are not moving towards the purposes of god lacking the holy spirit lacking the holy spirit causes people to be lost it estranges us away from the presence of god in pushing us away from god and from god's presence spirit and power we are therefore left defenseless walking as sheep without direction we are walking on a road away from god further and further each moment when god is not at the center of our lives we miss or rather we lose direction we go the wrong way on a one-way street we are losing a sense of purpose a sense of self a sense of mission once jesus is not directing our lives simply put we are lost having no purpose in this life can be destructive to anyone who has none the lost cannot perceive god's space the loss cannot perceive god the loss cannot perceive god's space they do not know god the lost cannot identify god in anything and the lost cannot understand where god is calling them brothers and sisters here truth is the lost are slowly beat they are slowly but surely becoming bitter every single day you know why the law sees the promotion of everyone other than themselves as someone else being um afflicting them for something for absolutely nothing that they have done the lost are those who do not understand that we are in a world where it is where it is absolutely important for us to walk with god at the center of our lives the lost do not understand that if god is not leading and directing us then we are slowly evaporating vanishing away into a sense of nothingness the loss does not understand sometimes or often that they are lost themselves the lust do not understand that they are lost they have no sense of direction or purpose they have no sense of mission they have constantly farted the call on their lives and they constantly push god aside having no drive and lacking faith for the mission the loss is often downtrodden the loss is is is doomed really simply because the loss failed to place jesus at the rightful space in the hospital in these days as cove as most persons in hospitals these days are filled with covet because they are saying no most of the other patients [Music] who are slowly decaying away because they do not have a sense of the presence of almighty god in their lives when god resides within our lives we have a sense of purpose and we are directed by the holy spirit and we do not feel ostracized or estranged we do not feel marginalized lost because we can be found in jesus secondly the light the light the light compels the people to come that they may have some purpose and some life direction to salvation an interesting thing some years ago when i was um pastor of trinityville i was also the the station passed our chaplain of the train table police station one of the things we noticed there was a particular stretch um sergio and stretch manual threat we used to have a lot of accidents there and it was around a particular time and i remember one night i was driving there and it just dawned on me what the problem was and i was talking to the police officers about it and saying that we need to talk to the counselor about it what we realized is that the road was extremely dark it's an extremely long stretch and it's dark there's no um jps light no light at all is on that stretch and it's miles without light and naturally people have a tendency to be warm towards life so when they would see the vehicles coming from off the hill coming down unconsciously people just drift towards the light and that was that was what was thought of in all the accidents it seemed simple it's improving us but it was a reality the truth is that people love light especially when we are engulfed in the sense of darkness the truth is that darkness makes us uneasy it's a fearful thing we do not like darkness even though there are many things that we can do while we are in the dark that no one can see and that we don't want others on the outside to see especially the darker four minds the truth is that people rather light than darkness because in the light we cannot stumble friends the light demolishes darkness light changes our perspective why because light enables us to see light enhances our possibilities and our opportunities light illuminates our path that we are able to perceive and to understand through sight what is happening before us light pulls believers towards salvation jesus calls people to salvation in him so that we can have hope in the light of the glorious gospel of christ in jesus the faithful will experience the light of god a light that is warm and embracing warm in the midst of a cold night a light that is that that is warm and far-reaching something that will snatch us away from the darkness and from the mysteries of of the depth of darkness which causes people to be fearful and makes men stumble brothers and sisters jesus calls us to the light of the gospel here jesus shines and calls people to experience him in his glorified state we are called to delight as jesus is in the light yes jesus gives hope to those who come to the light and away from darkness those of us who shun darkness we move to the light to experience the opportunities that jesus have in store for us we are reminded that as we come to the light we are empowered by jesus with gifts to to work and to utilize as we are called by him and empowered by him so to do jesus promises he promises peace and reassurance for believers he empowers believers that wherever we are we are not afraid and not ashamed to utilize the gifts he has given us for ministry therefore in lockdown time if if your gift is to is praying now is the best time to utilize it in lockdown time prayer for those persons who are in the hospital not those not only those whom you know but pray for persons all in the hospital pray for the sick pray for shouting members pray for our community members pray for those who are lost who have not yet made an encounter with the risen lord now is the time for us even though are we in lockdown we are aware of those in our community down the road next door across the street and we have nothing to eat today and in these lot long days when we cook up with storm take a plate to their man that is the mission of jesus the church must not be afraid and not be ashamed to allow the light of the gospel of jesus to shine through us the church must not be ashamed and not be afraid to let the light of jesus radiate from us to those who are around us you know the third point i have is simply love love love look at the text god's law god is love who calls people to come and experience that same love yes god is love and he god calls people to come and experience god's love god's love is expressed through jesus who calls us to himself to be reformed in his love jesus often jesus offers his love to all who comes to him jesus offers his love even to those who believe that they are loveless can i say my brothers and sisters that no matter who you are jesus calls you to come even as a christian as a believer with your own weaknesses and struggles with your own weaknesses that make you feel as though you are the worst christian ever you are a perfect example that jesus our lord and savior can use just about anyone and transform anyone for his kingdom can i suggest therefore that that even when we feel bottled bogged down with sin and and shame and even depression and stress we are not to not to hide ourselves away from jesus but that is the time for us to expose ourselves to him because in serving others we are renewed in repenting we are reformed and as we give ourselves to do the will of god we are transformed by the spirit of god the community of believers therefore is being called to serve the kingdom of god faithfully no matter how you feel about yourself even when you think that you are not the best person for the job the fact that jesus calls you jesus equips you jesus empowers everyone who comes to him jesus empowers whom he calls for ministry yes jesus is calling all believers to come to him he is calling everybody to come to him and to lay down our lives before him jesus calls people to relationship in jesus no matter who we are we have a purpose no matter who we are in jesus there is a plan for us no matter who we are in jesus there is something for us in the mission of god the church is therefore expected to walk with the downtrodden even the downtrodden who come to church the ones who we know and see for a little while don't land blast them don't chat them as i mean pray for them visit them encourage them uh social distance time we can call them on the phone talk with them and encourage them we don't know some of the struggles that people are going through and i'm telling you people are going through really a lot of struggles even now even pastors pray for your pastors encourage you faster than these times too you know because the pastors carrying a lot of burden are more burned than we ever three and four or think that we are capable of a lot of times god's love establishes god's covenant amongst god's people god cares for god's people and god calls his people to come to him god calls us to come to him and he calls believers to help out our brothers and sisters to care for them to share with them to pray for them the holy spirit is is in need he he is ready to to embrace all those who consider themselves lost and even those who not consider themselves last chances are your wellness home to jesus friends jesus reminds us to be his witnesses wherever we are the word for witness means to martin it means to testify it means that our lives must be a living testimony as weaknesses we testify to the truth of jesus we're going to go witness to people over the course of the month here don't spend much time quoting ten thousand bible scripture and leaving it with the people tell them one scripture and explain it with their life tell them how god has been good to you let them know that the things that god did in the bible in times past and still do it today let them know that god is still healing sick and curing people who needs to be cured let them know that god is still casting out devils and reforming people to become who he wants them to be let them know that we do not have to be afraid of coving we don't have to be afraid of anything circulating now or in the future to come why because as long as we have jesus on our side everything is going to be all right that's why we say rescue the perishing because jesus rescues the perishing jesus has an uh has a habit of picking a support of water when we are going when we are drowning jesus have a habit of going out of his way to find us in in the lonely spaces where we are when we feel as though we are we we can't take this thing no more and depression taking us down i might feel stressed out i will feel suicidal i will feel like yes we're ending now when slash will risk our break with nicole whatever we're going to do remember that jesus loves you and that is why he's constantly pursuing you the reason why you have not been successful at getting rid of yourself yet is because jesus is there by your side telling you don't do it the god of this world the devil is trying his very best to to eliminate us to get rid of us he don't like us but remember we serve a god that cannot fail amen he contradicts you as a single son i have a god that cannot fail jesus never fails jesus never fails and because jesus never fails my sisters and brothers no matter where you are whether you are in the sanctuary or you're on social media put yourself at the foot of the cross this morning talk to jesus and we will pray with you after we sing the song rescue the parachute rescue the perishing care for the dying snatch them in [Music] tell them of jesus the mighty to save the perishing care for the dying jesus is merciful jesus will sing though they are slighting him can restore touched by a loving [Music] once more rescue the perishing care for the dying jesus is mercy followed jesus will sing rescue the perishing duty strength for thy lamb and the lord will provide back to the narrow way patiently win them tell the poor [Music] the perishing for the dying jesus is merciful jesus will say rescue the perishing [Music] let us pray awesome god we thank you for those whom are in social media land today and even those in care and presence in the sanctuary who have recommitted themselves to you oh god we want to pray especially for those who have been struggling oh god with suicide and with depression with those who feel stressed out they feel as though there is nothing else they can do we want to pray for those o god who are struggling day after day they do not know where to get money from to pay the bills and to buy food to make ends meet god we pray for those who are so struggling that they feel as though they're at the end of the road we pray for those who are like that widow gathering sticks to make the last meal before she dies we pray for those dear god who feel lonely and dejected we pray for those o god who are constantly confused we pray for those dear god who are sick in body and in mind we pray for those dear god who need a greater sense of your presence your spirit and your power we pray for those dear god who are who feel as though they are they are constantly being followed by presence that are other normal we pray god against evil that may be pursuing some of us that in the name of jesus dear god that lord you will break the spell of those spirits and those curses that you will heal us oh god that your holy spirit's power will be upon us almighty god that no weapons formed against your people can ever prosper in the name of jesus that god we we pray a special blessing on those who feel lost and alone as though they are the only one around jesus cover them cover your people jesus protect them and deliver them lord jesus from all the blaring scents of evils that pursue them lord god deliver us from from evil from from from pain from from sickness from from from tragedy in the name of jesus lead us to salvation in yoga thank you lord for giving us your very best all the time and may the blessing of god the almighty father son and holy spirit go with us and hover over us constantly now and forevermore and god's people saying amen soul cries hallelujah we thank god for this wonderful day of worship and fellowship and we thank all of you for sharing with us this morning and we pray that wherever you are that god's spirit will continue to be on your life we thank reverend francis for such a powerful word and may god ever be your source of inspiration god has blessed you all you and
