Build Your Own River Tiny House! $100 vs $2500

you see these platforms just look at them look at it look at it look at it today my brother and I are doing the River House budget challenge the first house we're going to get $100 to build on top of this platform the second house we'll get $2,500 and then once they're built we're going to flip a coin to see who gets the poopy doopy one for the extreme overnight challenge of debt to the store river so I think it's going to get carried by the current too much it's too strong should I grab the screws bro get big ones and the Mallet hurry there you go guys this is what you have to do when you're on a budget all right I'm going to test it out dude that looks sketch it's sinky s that's a good thing it's like too steep I'm scared Mama Mia please don't break please don't break I hear better okay so we're going to build the tent and then uh then on to the big budget we couldn't find any tents small enough to fit on the platform so this one's going to hang over a bit we've got these cap nails to prevent it from uh flying off what do you think what is that look so stupid you know that's going to be home for one of us or later we went back to Home Depot to start on the bigger budget build Chris and I designed a three story structure so this thing is going to need a ton more wood than the dinky budget build this is already 650 lb dude just in 2x4s we have to see if the platforms are going to be strong enough what Su Chris hey Jacob are the platforms that you built strong enough to hold like 1,000 lb cuz it's very windy over there like extremely windy it could turn into a wind sail if you make it too big you know what I'm saying Jeffrey we might have designed this too big [Music] dude this is so much wood bro this is a lot of wood all right guys it's day three we haven't got that much done uh we did cut all the wood but this is taking forever yeah why are you walking away you're going to make this take even longer whatever but we did have some extra budget so we found three dudes at Home Depot that are going to help us build this thing hi this is one of the guys from Home Depot what is wait wait wait wait why do you why do you have a team shirt on here's my very professional plans that I drew so we need 482 and halfs great look how organized we are we're so organized organized so these now we need one 6t and then okay we just got a little bit less organized but you know what are you doing then we need 4 15 in and 4 18 in then we're going to put them all together okay according to my calculations if this is correct the gap between these are going to be 30 in yes it's 30 in you did your calculations right Jeffrey we copy pasted the same structure a few more times added the siding and cut out spaces for the door and window part of our design called for attaching metal panels to some of the walls so with the help of the crew we secured them onto the sides and use an angle grinder to carefully cut off any [Music] excess to give it an even cooler look we painted the metal black and used the spray painter machine for an even coat all right little update guys it is currently dark we've been working all day right Matt what's up we would have never finished we designed a massive build we're hoping to get all the cuts and all the builds done tonight and then tomorrow we're going to head out to the river put everything together guys it's like it's snowed but it's [Music] Sawdust [Music] so we've got all the parts laid out the team is currently strengthening the platform because it was too wobbly and the river is just getting bigger even with the reinforced platform there's still a decent likel that this thing could fall over so and another thing is we got to be sleeping in these things tonight so we have a lot of work to check to see if it fit uh it's a good question okay I don't know how we're going to do this but we will give it a shot oh what in the world go very unorthodox construction technique I think I got breaks someone needs to hold the top two one go there lifted all the way up cool okay get off the get off the scaving run for your lives little minions this is the sketchiest build ever yeah yeah but I think it's official I think I won that one running more scaffolding now that Jacob brought it so that we can uh do this a little safer hun CH I like the sound of that give it a test Chris oh dude solid the real test is jumping to the the shore I'll do a test what you Spider-Man dude two more walls one more roof solid lift 3 2 1 go dude this ladder is crazy we got all the way to the top this is the coolest River Hut we've ever built we realize that this thing is an absolute wind Hazard the extra design details like the railing on the Overlook and the edge trimming really set this river build apart as our coolest one yet and before we run out of daylight we need to add one of the most practically important details as we've learned solid dude solid Bridge best bridge in town not bad not bad bit of a sitting up angle let's see hopefully there's not a spider crawling up in here this is actually pretty comfortable I could actually sleep like this hey Chris huh your tent looks pretty weird from over here I know it's kind of sad looks like a trash B by the way there's like no buggies in here I hate you well guys you know it's cozy I found a spider in here which kind of triggered me cuz I thought there was supposed to not be any bugs in here anyways well I'm going to head up to the LOF turn off the generator and go to bed cuz I'm tired this is kind of difficult Darkness I'm an old man now guys ever since I had a kid I go to sleep at 8:30 well guys I'm going to hit the hay now get a good night's sleep in the epic River Hut and we'll see you in the morning good night [Music] everyone
