I was 16 when this game happened. I watched it with my best friend at the time who was also a huge Bucs fan. His parents happened to be out of town and we somehow got beer. I choked down two of them during the game and felt like such a man watching football and drinking beer in his living room. That was an awesome fucking day.

I'm surprised they didn't crop out those dead pixels or whatever's going on at the top of the video

Oh wow, I never noticed this, but during the Barber pick-6, can hear Gene Deckerhoff reacting. Good walk down memory lane

My brother, nephew and I were at this game. Best game I have ever been to. We were down in the lower level luckily and got a little bit of shit after Barber returned it. Someone from a few rows behind us grabbed my brothers wool hat from behind and threw it. The older guys sitting right behind us, calmly suggested that we put our coats, without Bucs logos on, back on to cover up our Bucs jerseys as the Eagles fans piled out of the stadium.

A trip down memory lane, and how about John Harbaugh coaching the Eagles special teams?! I never realized that.

>> THE COLD, HARD FACTS HERE AT VETERANS STADIUM IN PHILADELPHIA. 26 DEGREES. LET'S GO DOWN TO PAM OLIVER. >> OKAY, JON GRUDEN, ENOUGH OF THE BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. HOW DO YOU WIN THIS GAME IN THIS HOSTILE STADIUM? >> WE GOT TO WIN. WE GOT TO PLAY. I DON'T CARE WHERE WE PLAY OR WHAT THE THERMOMETER SAYS, WE GOT TO PLAY GREAT FOR 60 MINUTES. >> THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. LET'S GO BACK UP TO JOE. >> ALL RIGHT, PAM. PHILADELPHIA WINS THE TOSS. THEY RECEIVE. AND MARTIN GRAMATICA, TIRED LEG AND ALL. THE LEG HAS AWAKENED, AND HE'S READY TO KICK. TROY AIKMAN TALKING BEFORE THE GAME ABOUT THE SPECIAL TEAMS AND ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE AND VALUE OF BRIAN MITCHELL. WEEK 7 AGAINST TAMPA BAY, THAT'S WHAT HE DID RETURNING KICKS. 144 YARDS ON THE DAY OVERALL. RETURNING PUNTS, AS WELL. WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE WITH US. IT'S TEED UP, IT'S READY TO GO. ENJOY IT. MITCHELL. MITCHELL. MITCHELL. DOWN TO THE 25. >> SO MANY TIMES IN A BIG GAME, FIELD POSITION IS THE CRITICAL PART. WE TALKED ABOUT IT COMING IN. BRIAN MITCHELL, THE SUCCESS THAT HE HAD IN THEIR LAST BALLGAMES. JON GRUDEN TOLD US AS EARLY AS YESTERDAY THAT THEY HAD TO SOMEHOW FIND A WAY TO CONTAIN HIM AND NOT ALLOW HIM TO BE A MAJOR FACTOR IN THIS GAME. HERE WE ARE ON THE OPENING KICKOFF, AND HE'S ALREADY MADE HIS PRESENCE FELT. >> YEAH, WHAT DID HE SAY? "BRIAN MITCHELL KILLED US THAT FIRST GAME." >> OVER THE MIDDLE. IT'S STALEY. THEY'RE GONNA MARK HIM DOWN AT THE 20. WARREN SAPP CALLED THIS OFFENSIVE LINE THE BEST THAT THE BUCCANEERS FACED ALL YEAR. JOHN WELBOURN IS A GUY THAT HE HAS HAD PERSONAL BATTLES WITH OVER THE YEARS. HE'S AT LEFT GUARD. DUCE STALEY AND CECIL MARTIN IN THE BACKFIELD. THRASH AND PINKSTON, THE RECEIVERS. CHAD LEWIS, A VERY ACTIVE TIGHT END. DONOVAN McNABB UNDER CENTER. DUCE STALEY. TOUCHDOWN, PHILADELPHIA. >> I DON'T THINK JON GRUDEN CAN BELIEVE WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED TO HIS FOOTBALL TEAM. THE FIRST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS PLAYED, DUCE STALEY GOUGED THEM FOR 152 YARDS, AND EVERYBODY SAID, "BIG DEAL. WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN." IT HAPPENS THE FIRST TIME HE TOUCHES THE FOOTBALL. >> THIS IS WHERE THE EAGLES HAD SUCCESS IN THEIR LAST MEETING EARLIER IN THE SEASON. YOU WATCH THE BLOCKING UP INSIDE. HANK FRALEY, JERMANE MAYBERRY, COMING OFF THE BALL. INSIDE THE TACKLES IS WHERE THEY'VE WANTED TO ATTACK THIS TAMPA DEFENSE. THAT'S WHERE THEY BRING THE BALL WITH DUCE STALEY. CLEAR OPENING. JUST POUNDING THEM RIGHT OFF THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. >> AND, TROY, ONE OF THE PROBLEMS IS, THEY DON'T HAVE BOOGER McFARLAND IN THE GAME. THEY HAD HIM THE FIRST TIME. THEY WERE STILL ABLE TO RUN THE BALL. BOOGER'S ONE OF THE OUTSTANDING NOSE TACKLES IN THE GAME. NOW YOU HAVE A SMALLER GUY IN CHARTRIC DARBY IN THERE, SO IT'S AT ALL POSSIBLE THAT THEY COULD BE EVEN WORSE AGAINST THE RUN. BUT BRIAN MITCHELL'S KICKOFF RETURN TO SET THIS THING UP, AND YOU JUST CAN'T ASK FOR A BETTER START FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. >> TELL YOU WHAT, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE HAPPEN. THAT MONKEY ON THEIR BACK JUST GAINED ABOUT 100 POUNDS. COMING UP HERE TO PHILADELPHIA, PLAYING WITH THESE ELEMENTS ON THIS HARD SURFACE, PLAYING AGAINST THIS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES TEAM, WHICH HAS DOMINATED THEM THE LAST FOUR TIMES THEY'VE PLAYED THEM -- LAST TWO TIMES IN THE PLAYOFFS, WHERE THE BUCCANEERS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SCORE AN OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN. AND LESS THAN A MINUTE IN, TAMPA BAY FINDS THEMSELVES DOWN BY 7. AND YOU LOOK AT WHAT THE BUCCANEERS ARE TRYING TO OVERCOME WITH THEIR RECORD ON THE ROAD AND THEIR PLAYOFF HISTORY AND WHAT THEY'VE DONE ON COLD-WEATHER DAYS. AND NOW IN A 7-POINT HOLE. >> WELL, WHEN YOU STRUGGLE IN A GAME, AS SOON AS YOU GET BEHIND LIKE THAT, A LOT OF BAD MEMORIES COME TO THE SURFACE. NOW THEY START THINKING ABOUT WHAT TOOK PLACE THE LAST TWO TIMES THEY PLAYED HERE AT THE VET. YOU GOT TO SEE NOW WHETHER OR NOT THEY'RE GONNA BE ABLE TO OVERCOME IT. >> BUCCANEERS HAVE NEVER HAD A KICK RETURNED FOR A TOUCHDOWN IN THEIR FRANCHISE HISTORY. THIS IS STECKER. STECKER ACROSS THE 30. AND HE'S GONNA BE MARKED DOWN... UP AT THE 33. BRAD JOHNSON WITH GLOVES ON HIS HANDS. COMES OUT, CLAPS THOSE GLOVES TOGETHER, AND SAYS, "LET'S GO." >> WELL, THE THING ABOUT IT IS IS THAT BRAD JOHNSON HAS NEVER WORN GLOVES WHEN HE'S PLAYED IN A GAME. YOU WOULD THINK THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO GO TO SOMETHING HERE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME OF THE SEASON. >> STARTING FROM THEIR OWN 33. AND STARTING WITH IT ON THE GROUND. THAT'S PITTMAN, AND HE GETS NOTHING. THE OFFENSIVE LINE FOR THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS HAS BEEN GETTING BETTER, BUT IT IS STILL A WEAK AREA OF THEIR TEAM. THEY'RE GONNA START IN THE HURRY-UP APPROACH, THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS ARE. THE BACKS AND RECEIVERS. KEENAN McCARDELL AND KEYSHAWN JOHNSON. WE'LL SEE A LOT OF JOE JUREVICIUS, ANOTHER WIDE RECEIVER, TODAY. IN FACT, HE'S OUT THERE NOW. AND A HAND-OFF IS TO PITTMAN. A LITTLE DELAY, AND MICHAEL PITTMAN IS BROUGHT DOWN JUST SHY OF A FIRST DOWN. WE LOOK AT THE DEFENSE FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. THEY THREW A FLAG, PICKED IT UP. THE DEFENSE FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, NUMBER TWO IN THE LEAGUE IN POINTS ALLOWED. AND UP FRONT, IT'S THE FRONT FOUR WORKING ON THIS OFFENSIVE LINE THAT'S A CONCERN FOR JON GRUDEN. LEVON KIRKLAND, THE BIG MIDDLE LINEBACKER. AND THE SECONDARY, THREE PRO BOWLERS. ON THIRD DOWN AND A YARD, IT'S ALSTOTT. LOOKED LIKE HE PICKED UP ENOUGH FOR A FIRST DOWN. HE DID. >> AND, JOE, I THINK ENOUGH HAS BEEN MADE ABOUT THE COLD WEATHER, AND EVERYTHING THIS WEEK HAS REALLY BEEN DRIVING ME A LITTLE BIT CRAZY. IT REALLY ONLY COMES DOWN TO THE SKILL-POSITION GUYS. THE LINEMEN, THEY DON'T CARE WHO'S OUT THERE AND WHO'S HURT. BUT GUYS LIKE MIKE ALSTOTT AND THOSE GUYS HAVE ALL PLAYED IN THE COLD WEATHER. >> WORD ON LEVON KIRKLAND -- THAT BIG BODY GOT STEPPED ON. SO THEY HELPED HIM OFF TO THE SIDELINE, CHECKING HIM OUT. BARRY GARDNER, WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO PLAY A LOT TODAY ANYWAY, IS IN IN HIS SPOT. FIRST DOWN, BUCCANEERS. BLITZ. AND THE PASS IS COMPLETE TO McCARDELL UP TO THE 49-YARD LINE. AND THAT'S ONE THING THAT THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS ARE VERY AWARE OF -- THE BLITZING OF THIS EAGLES DEFENSE, LED BY JIM JOHNSON, THEIR COORDINATOR. >> THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT JON GRUDEN TOLD US YESTERDAY. THEY'RE GONNA COME AFTER US, AND WE HAVE TO KNOW EACH TIME EXACTLY WHERE WE'RE GOING WITH THE FOOTBALL. AND RIGHT THEN, BRAD JOHNSON KNEW HE HAD TO GET IT OUT IN A HURRY. FOUND THE OPEN MAN. >> SECOND DOWN AND 4. DUMPED OFF TO DILGER. AND KEN HAS A FIRST DOWN INSIDE THE 40. TWO BIG FIRST DOWNS PICKED UP BY THE BUCCANEERS AFTER THAT INITIAL SCORE BY THE EAGLES. >> AND, JOE, ONE OF THE REASONS YOU RUN THE NO-HUDDLE OFFENSE -- WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING AGAINST A TEAM LIKE THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, THEY HAVE A LOT OF EXOTIC BLITZ SCHEMES. THAT TIME YOU COULD SEE THE CONFUSION BACK IN THE PHILADELPHIA SECONDARY TRYING TO MAKE THE CALLS. I THINK TAMPA BAY'S CATCHING THEM OFF GUARD HERE EARLY. >> HAND-OFF TO PITTMAN. GOT 1. THE RUNNING GAME FOR THIS TAMPA BAY BUCCANEER TEAM RANKED 27th DURING THE REGULAR SEASON. ALSTOTT WITH A BIG DAY A WEEK AGO IN THE BUCCANEERS' WIN OVER SAN FRANCISCO. >> YEAH, THEY RANK 27th OVERALL, BUT IN THE LAST FIVE BALLGAMES, THEY'VE RUN THE BALL MUCH MORE EFFECTIVELY THAN WHAT THEY HAD EARLIER IN THE SEASON. THEY ENTER THIS BALLGAME FEELING AS THOUGH THEY CAN HAVE SUCCESS RUNNING THE BALL. I KNOW THIS -- IF THEY'RE GONNA HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN THIS GAME, THEY'RE GONNA HAVE TO BE ABLE TO RUN THE FOOTBALL EFFECTIVELY. >> QUICK SETUP AND THROW, AND THAT'S PITTMAN OUT OF THE BACKFIELD. MICHAEL IS DOWN TO THE 30. AND THAT'S GONNA BRING UP A THIRD DOWN -- THIRD AND SHORT AFTER A GAIN OF 7. THIRD AND 3. >> AND, JOE, ALREADY A MUCH BETTER GAME PLAN BY TAMPA BAY AGAINST THIS PHILADELPHIA DEFENSE. THE FIRST TIME THEY PLAYED, BRAD JOHNSON WOULD GO BACK FIVE AND SEVEN STEPS AND HOLD THE BALL. HERE WE'RE SEEING THEM -- ONE, TWO, THREE, OR ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, GET THE FOOTBALL OUT -- FRUSTRATING THIS PASS RUSH A LITTLE BIT. >> WELL, WE'RE GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT THIS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THESE THIRD-DOWN CONVERSIONS ARE IMPORTANT WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING PLAYOFF GAMES LIKE THIS. >> JOHNSON FLOATS IT UP. McCARDELL. OUT OF HIS REACH AND NEARLY PICKED OFF BY VINCENT. CARLOS EMMONS WITH PRESSURE, AS JOHNSON DROPPED BACK. AND WE'LL GET AN EARLY LOOK AT MARTIN GRAMATICA, AS YOU LOOK AT JIM JOHNSON, DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR FOR THE EAGLES. >> ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH GOING WITH THAT TIGHT BUNCH FORMATION -- IT BRINGS LINEBACKERS LIKE CARLOS EMMONS RIGHT UP ON THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, AND YOU CAN'T TELL IF THEY'RE IN COVERAGE OR GONNA BLITZ. THAT TIME EMMONS CAME AND FORCED A QUICK THROWAWAY. >> YEAH, AND BECAUSE EMMONS HAD TO MAKE HIM GET RID OF THE FOOTBALL EARLY -- HE HAD A CHANCE, HAD HE HAVE KEPT IT HIGH TO McCARDELL. >> 48-YARD TRY FROM GRAMATICA. MARTIN GRAMATICA... DRILLS IT. >> BUCS ABLE TO SMILE A LITTLE BIT ON THAT SIDELINE AFTER THREE BIG POINTS PUT UP BY MARTIN GRAMATICA, HITTING FROM 48. NINE-PLAY DRIVE. AND NOW AFTER A 70-YARD RETURN HIS FIRST TIME, MITCHELL WAITS DEEP AGAIN. LINE-DRIVE KICK, AND BACK NEAR THE GOAL LINE, MITCHELL. ANOTHER BIG RETURN. ALL THE WAY OUT ACROSS THE 40. IT WAS A CONCERN COMING IN FOR THE BUCCANEERS, WHO HAD A TOUGH TIME COVERING KICKS LAST WEEK IN THEIR BIG WIN OVER THE 49ers. >> WELL, SO FAR, THIS IS A SPECIAL-TEAMS WHOOPING. THEY DID A RIGHT RETURN THE FIRST TIME AND BROKE IT FOR ALMOST THE DISTANCE, AND NOW THEY COME RIGHT BACK WITH A LEFT RETURN. THEY'RE WHIPPING THE ENTIRE TEAM. AND BRIAN MITCHELL DOES SUCH A GREAT JOB OF BEING PATIENT AT THE POINT OF ATTACK. SOMETIMES IF YOU JUST GET THAT ONE BLOCK THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT ON A MOMENT, IT WILL BE THERE. AND THERE'S REALLY BEEN NOBODY BETTER IN THE HISTORY OF THIS GAME THAN BRIAN MITCHELL. >> AND JOHN HARBAUGH, SPECIAL-TEAMS COACH -- THAT YOU SEE THERE -- FOR THIS TEAM, HAS DONE A FABULOUS JOB IN ALL PHASES OF SPECIAL TEAMS. >> STARTING FROM THE 44. McNABB DUMPS IT, LOOKING FOR WESTBROOK, AND THAT WAS RONDE BARBER CLOSING IN A HURRY. WE HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE GUYS THAT ARE STUFFED INTO THOSE HELMETS ACROSS THE FRONT FOR TAMPA BAY. THEY LOOK LIKE THIS. I BET WARREN WILL BE -- YEAH, OF COURSE, HE'S SMILING. >> [ LAUGHS ] >> HE IS USUALLY GOOD FOR A QUOTE OR TWO, AND WARREN SAPP ANCHORS THE MIDDLE. THERE ARE THE LINEBACKERS. DERRICK BROOKS, NOT ONLY A PRO BOWLER, BUT THE A.P. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. AND THE SECONDARY VERY GOOD, WITH KELLY AND BARBER ON THE CORNERS. WE ALL KNOW ABOUT LYNCH AT SAFETY, ALONG WITH DEXTER JACKSON, WHO'S GETTING BETTER AND BETTER. WARREN SAPP IN ON THAT TACKLE, AS DORSEY LEVENS TAKES IT. AND GOT OUT TO THE 45-YARD LINE. [ CROWD BOOING ] IT'LL BE THIRD AND LONG COMING UP, AND THE CROWD CLIMBS ON THE BACK OF WARREN SAPP. >> WELL, TALKING ABOUT WARREN SAPP SMILING, WHEN WE TALKED WITH HIM YESTERDAY, HE WAS DOING A LOT OF SMILING, AS WELL, REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CHALLENGE THAT HE HAD BEFORE HIM IN THIS BALLGAME. ASKED HIM WHY IT WOULD BE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR. HE JUST SAID, "HEY, WE WEREN'T VERY GOOD LAST YEAR. WE PLAYED A LOT BETTER THAN WHAT OUR TALENT WOULD INDICATE." HE THINKS THIS IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BALL CLUB. >> THIRD DOWN AND 9. BUCS SHOWING BLITZ. THAT'S DORSEY LEVENS. SIMEON RICE WAS FIRST TO GET THERE, AND LEVENS JUST BARELY GOT BACK TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. >> PRETTY INTERESTING THAT SIMEON RICE IS OVER HERE PLAYING THE DEFENSIVE LEFT SIDE. TYPICALLY, HE'S ON THE RIGHT SIDE, COMING AROUND THE CORNER AND WORKING AGAINST TRA THOMAS. THIS TIME ABLE TO GET UP THE FIELD AGAINST JON RUNYAN, GET THE PENETRATION, AND THEN THE REST OF THE BUCS CAUGHT UP. >> WELL, AND TRUE TO WHAT THE COACHES SAID, THIRD AND LONG, THEY DO NOT WANT BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN. THEY SAY, "WE WILL NOT BE AFRAID TO JUST RUN THE BALL ON THIRD AND LONG, PUNT, AND PLAY FIELD POSITION." AND THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE DOING NOW. >> LEE JOHNSON IS THE MAN IN CHARGE OF THE PUNTING. THIRD PUNTER FOR THE EAGLES THIS SEASON. AND GETS OFF A GOOD ONE. HIGH, HANGING PUNT. >> WELL, A HOLD FROM THAT TAMPA BAY DEFENSE, DESPITE THE GOOD FIELD POSITION FOR THE EAGLES AFTER ANOTHER GOOD BRIAN MITCHELL KICK RETURN. AND THE BUCS BACK ON OFFENSE. THE NUMBER-FOUR-RANKED DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE, THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. STARTING FROM THEIR OWN 19. BRAD JOHNSON AT THE CONTROLS. AND A BIG RUN BY AARON STECKER. SO, A CHANGE-UP AS WE SEE AARON STECKER HERE EARLY IN THE GAME, AND HE HAD A NICE BURST UP THROUGH THE LINE. >> DARWIN WALKER THE FIRST GAME JUST ABSOLUTELY KILLED THIS BUCCANEERS RUNNING GAME. THAT TIME JEFF CHRISTY JUST TOOK HIM AND DROVE HIM ALL THE WAY OUT OF THE HOLE FOR A BIG GAINER. >> ON SECOND DOWN. A LITTLE TOSS. AND THAT'S STECKER AGAIN. AARON PICKS UP A TAMPA BAY FIRST DOWN. >> WELL, ONE THING WE'RE DEFINITELY SEEING IS THAT, WHEN BRAD JOHNSON DROPS BACK TO THROW THE FOOTBALL, HE IS NOT GONNA HANG ON TO IT. SO FAR, WE'VE NOT SEEN A SEVEN-STEP DROP. HE'S GONNA GO THREE STEPS OR FIVE STEPS. BUT THE BIGGEST KEY IS NOT TAKING A SACK AND GETTING RID OF THE FOOTBALL. SO FAR, HE'S DONE A GOOD JOB OF THAT. >> THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME AGAINST PHILADELPHIA UP HERE. SACKED 5 TIMES. THE EAGLES HAD 6 SACKS AS A TEAM. PLAY-ACTION FROM JOHNSON. AND THAT'S PICKED OFF BY TAYLOR. >> WELL, HE WAS THE TOP-RATED PASSER IN THE NFC THIS SEASON -- BRAD JOHNSON -- BUT HIS NUMBERS FROM THE VET ARE TERRIBLE. LAST 122 PASSES THROWN AT THIS STADIUM -- NO TOUCHDOWNS, EIGHT INTERCEPTIONS. THE LATEST COURTESY OF BOBBY TAYLOR. NOW FROM THE TAMPA BAY 46-YARD LINE, FIRST DOWN, PHILADELPHIA, UP BY 4. THAT'S STALEY. JUST SHY OF THE 42. A GAIN OF 3. >> WELL, YOU GO BACK TO THE INTERCEPTION AND WHAT BRAD WAS LOOKING AT. WHAT YOU'RE GONNA SEE IS DOUBLE COVERAGE RIGHT HERE. BOBBY TAYLOR. YOU GOT THE SAFETY IN THE BACK. HE'S TRYING TO THROW THE CORNER ROUTE, BUT THIS IS THE GUY RIGHT HERE, AARON STECKER, WHO'S GOT TO GET THE FOOTBALL. BRAD TRIES FORCING ONE. HE'S HURT BY IT -- INTERCEPTION. YOU GOT TO COME BACK AGAINST A DEFENSE LIKE THIS, TAKE WHAT IS GIVEN TO YOU. THAT TIME YOU HAVE AARON STECKER IN THE FLAT FOR A 5-YARD GAIN, AND YOU JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT. >> MICHAEL PITTMAN, SO YOU KNOW, THE STARTING HALFBACK FOR THE BUCS, LEFT WITH A MILD CONCUSSION. SECOND DOWN AND 6. AND THE PASS COMPLETE TO THRASH. BROUGHT DOWN A FEW SHY OF A FIRST DOWN. DERRICK BROOKS ON THE STOP. GAIN OF 4. >> YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT THE FACT THAT IT'S COVER-2 DEFENSE FOR TAMPA BAY. WELL, IT'S REALLY NOT THAT MUCH. THAT TIME JOHN LYNCH WAS DOWN IN THE BOX. HERE HE COMES RIGHT HERE. AND, SO, THAT'S GONNA LEAVE JUST SIMPLY ONE-ON-ONE COVERAGE ON THE OUTSIDE, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT PHILADELPHIA IS LOOKING FOR. THEY THINK THEIR WIDE RECEIVERS, AGAINST MAN COVERAGE DOWN THE FIELD, CAN BEAT THESE TAMPA CORNERS. >> THE EAGLES NOT IN FIELD-GOAL RANGE, AND THEY'RE WORKING INTO THE WIND. IT'S THIRD AND 2. QUICK THROW. PASS COMPLETE. THAT'S THRASH. AND THAT'S A FIRST DOWN. >> WELL, AND ONE OF THE MATCHUPS THAT THE EAGLES WERE HOPING TO GET WAS, THEY WERE HOPING TO GET TODD PINKSTON ON RONDE BARBER IN A ONE-ON-ONE SITUATION, KNOWING THAT THEY DON'T GET THAT VERY OFTEN, AND HERE IT IS RIGHT HERE, THE LOOK THAT THEY HAD. AND HE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRY TO GO DEEP WITH PINKSTON. INSTEAD, DONOVAN McNABB WORKS THE FRONT SIDE TO JAMES THRASH. >> FROM THE 34. THAT'S STALEY. THE BUCCANEERS ABLE TO STRING IT OUT, AND BROOKS ON THE STOP. NO GAIN ON THE PLAY. EAGLES BOAST McNABB A VERY GOOD RUNNING QUARTERBACK, BUT THE BUCCANEERS HAVE HAD SUCCESS THIS SEASON AGAINST SOME OF THE LEAGUE'S BEST, INCLUDING MIKE VICK. SECOND DOWN AND 11. THAT'S WESTBROOK. GAIN OF 3. >> AND I THINK ANDY REID'S GONNA HAVE TO COMMIT TO TRYING TO THROW THE FOOTBALL NOW ON FIRST DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S BEEN PRETTY CONSISTENT. THE BUCCANEERS ARE WALKING THEIR SAFETIES UP TOWARDS THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE ON FIRST DOWN, AND THEN, IN SECOND DOWN, THEY'RE FALLING BACK INTO THEIR COVER-2 COVERAGE. SO, THE EASIER DOWN TO THROW THE FOOTBALL RIGHT NOW IS GOING TO BE FIRST DOWN FOR THE EAGLES. >> THE EAGLES RIGHT NOW AT THE OUTER EDGE OF FIELD-GOAL RANGE. FACING A THIRD DOWN AND 8. McNABB LOOKS ACROSS THE MIDDLE AND FIRES INCOMPLETE. LEVENS, THE INTENDED RECEIVER, AND HE WAS BRACKETED BY QUARLES AND BROOKS. AND NOW ARE THE EAGLES IN THAT IN-BETWEEN YARDAGE? AND THEY ARE GOING TO SEND OUT THE PUNT TEAM. >> YEAH, AND I THINK THAT'S THE RIGHT DECISION BY ANDY REID. AS WE'VE TALKED ABOUT, YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE FIELD-POSITION GAME WHEN YOU'VE GOT TWO OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL TEAMS AND JUST WAIT FOR A MISTAKE TO HAPPEN. I THINK THIS IS THE SMART PLAY. TRY TO PIN TAMPA BAY BACK INSIDE THE 20. >> AND THEY'RE GOING INTO ABOUT A 25-MILE-AN-HOUR WIND THAT'S RIGHT IN THEIR FACE. >> LEE JOHNSON. BEAUTIFUL PUNT. THE 41-YEAR-OLD. >> SO, AFTER THE BRAD JOHNSON INTERCEPTION, THAT NUMBER-ONE-RANKED DEFENSE OF THE BUCCANEERS DOES ITS JOB. LEE JOHNSON, THE VETERAN PUNTER FOR THE EAGLES, DID HIS JOB. AND THE BUCS HAVE IT, FIRST AND 10 FROM THEIR OWN 4. THEY HAND OFF TO ALSTOTT. AND THE PRO BOWL "FULLBACK"... GETS IT OUT JUST ACROSS THE 10. NEXT SEASON, THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WILL CALL THIS HOME. LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD WILL OPEN IN AUGUST, AND IT LOOKS TO BE A GORGEOUS STADIUM. BUT THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THESE OLD JOINTS THAT IT'S HARD TO DUPLICATE, AND THESE FANS ARE PACKED IN HERE READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO VETERANS STADIUM, WHERE THEY'VE BEEN PLAYING FOOTBALL SINCE 1971. >> I THINK IT'S ALL THE CATS AND RATS AND THOSE THINGS THAT MAKE IT SPECIAL. >> IT DOES ADD A LITTLE AMBIENCE TO THE PLACE. IT'S SECOND DOWN, AND IT'S ALSTOTT AGAIN. COME ON, GUYS. YOU SCOFF AT THE FACT THAT THIS GUY'S A PRO BOWLER, AND HE'S LOWERING HIS HEAD, KNOCKING BODIES DOWN, AND GETTING A FIRST DOWN FOR TAMPA BAY. >> WELL, I'LL TELL YOU WHAT. THAT IS A HUGE FIRST DOWN RIGHT THERE FOR THESE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. THEY GIVE THE BALL TWICE TO MICHAEL ALSTOTT, AND THEY LET HIM RICOCHET UP IN THERE AND BOUNCE OFF PEOPLE AND PICK UP THE FIRST DOWN. ONE, THEY GIVE THEIR PUNTER ROOM IN THE EVENT THAT THEY'RE NOT ABLE TO GET ANOTHER FIRST DOWN. BUT IN ORDER TO REGAIN FIELD POSITION, THEY'VE GOT TO BE ABLE TO PICK UP A FEW MORE FIRST DOWNS HERE. PLAY-ACTION FROM JOHNSON. AND THAT PASS INCOMPLETE. IT'S INTERESTING, GUYS, TO KEEP SEEING SHOTS OF HUGH DOUGLAS OVER ON THE SIDELINE -- THE PRO BOWL DEFENSIVE END. WE UNDERSTAND THERE'S NOTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH HIM. NOW AS WE SAY THAT, HERE HE COMES INTO THE GAME. BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE, AND THE FIRST FEW PLAYS OF THIS DRIVE, HE'S BEEN STANDING OVER NEXT TO JIM JOHNSON. >> YEAH, AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION FOR THAT BECAUSE HE WAS THE GUY IN THE FIRST GAME -- WAS THE TOTAL FOCAL POINT. THEY HAD TIGHT ENDS. THEY HAD BACKS CHIPPING. THEY HAD WIDE RECEIVERS CRACKING. WHY DO YOU TAKE HIM OUT AND MAKE IT EASY ON THEM? >> SECOND DOWN AND 10. LOOKED RIGHT, NOW LEFT. THROWS TO McCARDELL. KEENAN MAKES THE CATCH AND A STRONG TACKLE BY BOBBY TAYLOR. BROUGHT DOWN AT THE 24. >> WELL, THAT'S A GOOD JOB BY BRAD JOHNSON JUST FINDING SOMEBODY TO GET THE FOOTBALL TO. THEY BROUGHT LEVON KIRKLAND OFF THE FIELD, THEN PUT BARRY GARDNER IN -- BECAUSE IT WAS SECOND AND LONG -- IN PASSING SITUATIONS. AND BRAD JOHNSON HAS TIME TO THROW. IT'S A CREDIT TO THIS OFFENSIVE LINE FOR HIM TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIND SOMEBODY TO GET THE BALL TO. >> TIME-OUT CALLED FOR BY THE BUCCANEERS. FACED WITH A THIRD AND 3, AND JOHNSON IS GONNA GO OVER AND TALK TO JON GRUDEN. AND I GUESS, IF YOU'RE JON GRUDEN -- "A," WE KNOW THE GUY DOESN'T SLEEP. [ LAUGHTER ] HE ADMITTEDLY JUST DOES NOT GET A WHOLE LOT OF REST. BUT I KNOW, TROY, HE WAS TELLING YOU HE'S JUST WORN OUT WITH THE KIND OF WEEK THAT THEY'VE HAD. AND THESE ARE THE GAMES THAT HE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR -- TO SEE WHAT THIS OFFENSE CAN DO. AND, SLOWLY, OVER THE COURSE OF THE SEASON, THIS OFFENSE FOR THE BUCCANEERS HAS BEEN GETTING BETTER AND BETTER, AND NOW HERE'S THEIR "FINAL EXAM." >> YEAH, WELL, ONE OF THEM. THEY HOPE THEY HAVE ONE MORE FINAL EXAM. JON GRUDEN HAS BEEN ASKED ALL WEEK LONG, "HEY, THIS IS WHY YOU WERE BROUGHT HERE." AND HE SAID, "HEY, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. I KNOW WHY I WAS BROUGHT HERE TO TAMPA BAY. I WAS BROUGHT HERE FOR THE SAME REASON EVERY OTHER COACH HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THEIR FOOTBALL TEAM, AND THAT IS TO GO ON AND WIN A SUPER BOWL. AND THIS IS JUST A STEP." BUT HE ALSO KNOWS THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE PIECES IN PLACE THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IN ORDER TO EXECUTE THE OFFENSE THE WAY HE WOULD LIKE. >> HE WAS A LATE HIRE. DOES NOT HAVE A GREAT OFFENSIVE LINE AND NOT A LOT OF SPEED OUTSIDE. THIRD DOWN AND 2. TIME FOR JOHNSON, AND HE FINDS JUREVICIUS. JOE JUREVICIUS FLYING DOWN THE SIDELINE. JOE JUREVICIUS IS FORCED OUT INSIDE THE 10. NO FLAGS ON THE PLAY. THEY'RE GONNA MARK JUREVICIUS OUT AT THE 5, AND WHAT A WEEK IT'S BEEN FOR THE WIDE RECEIVER FOR THE BUCCANEERS. >> AND WE TALKED ABOUT, WHY WASN'T HUGH DOUGLAS IN THE GAME? AND THEN YOU WATCH HIM HERE. ROMAN OBEN WORKING AGAINST HIM, DOES A GREAT JOB OF KEEPING HIM OFF BRAD JOHNSON AND GIVING HIM TIME TO MAKE THIS THROW TO JUREVICIUS. >> AND WHAT A WEEK FOR JOE JUREVICIUS. HE'S MISSED PRACTICE ALL WEEK BECAUSE HIS WIFE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR YOUNG CHILD JUST BORN THIS WEEK, AND THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS HEALTH. AND FOR HIM TO COME BACK IN ON THIS PLAY AND MAKE THAT KIND OF A PLAY EARLY IN THE GAME -- AMAZING. >> 71 YARDS. FIRST AND GOAL FROM THE 5. ALSTOTT... PLOWING HIS WAY JUST SHY OF THE 1. >> AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE SEEN -- WE'VE SEEN THEM GO TO THE NO-HUDDLE OFFENSE AND TRY TO DICTATE TEMPO. THAT TIME THEY DID GET IN THE HUDDLE, BUT YET THEY STILL SPED UP. THEY GOT UP TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. THE EAGLES WEREN'T QUITE READY FOR THEM. NOW, AS YOU SEE, THEY'VE GOT OLD 99, WARREN SAPP, IN. JON GRUDEN TOLD US YESTERDAY THAT HE THINKS THAT WARREN SAPP IS AS GOOD A BLOCKING TIGHT END AS THERE IS IN THE LEAGUE. >> THEY CAN RUN LEFT OR RIGHT, WITH DILGER ON THE RIGHT SIDE, SAPP ON THE LEFT. ALSTOTT AGAIN. BOUNCING IT OUTSIDE. TOUCHDOWN, TAMPA BAY. SO, HERE ARE THE EAGLES GETTING A 70-YARD RETURN FROM BRIAN MITCHELL TO START THE DAY. A FEW PLAYS LATER, THEY'RE IN THE END ZONE. TAMPA BAY COMES BACK. A FEW FIRST DOWNS LATER, THEY HAVE A FIELD GOAL. AND NOW DOWN THE FIELD INTO THE END ZONE, AND THEY TAKE THE LEAD. >> AND MIKE ALSTOTT IS HOT RIGHT NOW. HE'S WORKING THIS EAGLES DEFENSE. THEY'RE PLAYING POWER FOOTBALL. BUT LET'S REMEMBER WHAT SET THIS UP. BRAD JOHNSON THREW THE INTERCEPTION, AND THEN THE BUCCANEERS DEFENSE HELD, AND NO POINTS WERE GIVEN UP BECAUSE OF THE INTERCEPTION. >> BALL'S AWAY! >> BALL IS AWAY, AND IT'S THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS FOR A 10-7 BUCCANEER LEAD. 40 SECONDS LEFT IN THIS FIRST QUARTER, AND THIS HAS BEEN AN IMPRESSIVE PIECE OF WORK AFTER THAT INITIAL SHOCK THAT HIT THIS TAMPA BAY BUCCANEER TEAM. >> WELL, AND THAT DRIVE STARTED ON THE 4-YARD LINE FOR TAMPA BAY. THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE TO GO 96 YARDS AGAINST THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLE DEFENSE. YOU JUST DO NOT SEE THAT. AND NOW THAT GIVES THIS TAMPA BAY OFFENSE -- IT GIVES THEM THE CONFIDENCE THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THIS GAME THAT THEY'RE GONNA BE TO SCORE FROM ANYWHERE ON THE FIELD. >> BUT I HAVE TO GO BACK TO JOE JUREVICIUS FOR A MOMENT. I MEAN, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE WEEK THIS HAS BEEN. HE HASN'T BEEN TO PRACTICE. HE'S BEEN WITH HIS WIFE. THEY'VE HAD A SICK CHILD. I'M SURE THAT THE FIRST EMOTIONAL BREATH THAT HE'S TAKEN THIS ENTIRE WEEK HAS BEEN PUTTING ON THE UNIFORM AND COMING OUT HERE AND PLAYING. AND FOR THAT YOUNG MAN TO HAVE THAT KIND OF A PLAY, I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT HIS EMOTIONS ARE RIGHT NOW. I'M SURE HE'S THINKING ABOUT HIS WIFE, I'M SURE HE'S THINKING ABOUT HIS CHILD, AND YET HE HAS DONE SO MUCH TO PUT THIS BUCCANEERS TEAM IN A POSITION TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL. >> ASKED JON GRUDEN IF HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT JUREVICIUS MISSING PRACTICE ALL WEEK. HE WASN'T EVEN HERE FOR THE WALK-THROUGH YESTERDAY. AND JON LOOKED AT ALL OF US AND SAID, "I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT JOE." >> YEAH, IN FACT, HE WAS MORE WORRIED ABOUT BRAD JOHNSON BECAUSE BRAD HAD NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO THROW HIM THE FOOTBALL. >> SQUIB KICK. >> GOOD IDEA. >> GOOD IDEA AND THAT IT STAYS IN BOUNDS, AND IT GETS BEHIND BRIAN MITCHELL. AND MITCHELL CROSSES THE 10. HE'S GONNA BE MARKED DOWN AT THE 12. WELL, ON THAT RECENT DRIVE FOR TAMPA BAY, NO DOUBT THE KEY PLAY -- THE 71-YARD THROW, CATCH, AND RUN TO JUREVICIUS. >> AND BARRY GARDNER IS THE LINEBACKER THAT THEY THINK IS THEIR BETTER COVER LINEBACKER. AND YET ONCE JUREVICIUS GOT PAST HIM, IT WAS REALLY JUST FREE SAILING DOWN THE SIDELINE. >> WELL, PART OF THAT WAS BECAUSE KEN DILGER, THE TIGHT END, WAS DOWN THE FIELD PUTTING A BLOCK ON BOBBY TAYLOR, ALSO. >> SO, NOW IT'S THE EAGLES' TURN TO TRY AND ANSWER. >> AND THIS CROWD IS STUNNED RIGHT NOW. >> FROM THEIR OWN 12. STALEY LOWERS HIS HEAD... AND JUST DID GET TO THE 15-YARD LINE. A GAIN OF 3. >> JOE, ANYTIME YOU GET IN A BALLGAME LIKE THIS, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE LONG, SUSTAINED DRIVES AGAINST EITHER ONE OF THESE DEFENSES. SO WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR ARE BIG PLAYS, PLAYS THAT ARE GONNA GO A LONG WAY DOWN THE FIELD. AND THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT ARE GONNA DECIDE THIS GAME. AND SO FAR, WITH THE BIG PLAYS, THE EAGLES HAVE HAD ONE WITH A KICKOFF RETURN, AND THE BUCS NOW HAVE HAD ONE TO JUREVICIUS. >> THE OLD 700 LEVEL. 700. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE MADE VETERANS STADIUM INFAMOUS. >> I DON'T THINK WE CAN EVEN TELL THE STORIES THAT WE HEARD ABOUT THE 700 LEVEL, CAN WE? >> YOU JUST CAN'T. >> NO. >> LIFE GETS A LITTLE INTERESTING UP TOP HERE AT VETERANS STADIUM. DOWN BELOW ON THE FLOOR OF THIS PLACE, START OF THE SECOND QUARTER. IT'S SECOND DOWN AND 7 FOR PHILADELPHIA. PRESSURE ON McNABB. HE'S FLUSHED, AND HE HAS TO RUN FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY. AND HE DUCKS OUT OF BOUNDS FOR THE FIRST DOWN. >> WOW, THAT IS A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT OVER WHAT WE SAW OUT OF DONOVAN McNABB A WEEK AGO. SIMEON RICE IS GOING TO GET THE EARLY PRESSURE AND FORCE McNABB OUT OF THE POCKET. AND WHILE HE DID RUN A COUPLE OF TIMES LAST WEEK, HE DIDN'T RUN LIKE THAT. THERE WAS ALWAYS A LITTLE LIMP AS HE WENT DOWN THE FIELD. THAT LOOKED LIKE THE DONOVAN McNABB OF OLD. >> AND SO YOU KNOW -- I KNOW WE HAVE NEW VIEWERS CHECKING OUT A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME -- DONOVAN McNABB WENT DOWN ON NOVEMBER 17th, BROKEN FIBULA, RIGHT ANKLE. MISSED EIGHT WEEKS, SIX GAMES. CAME BACK TO DEFEAT THE ATLANTA FALCONS LAST WEEK. SLIPPED AS HE GOT RID OF IT AND UNDERTHREW DUCE STALEY. SECOND DOWN AND 10. >> YOU GOT TO START SOMEWHERE. >> I MEAN, THAT COVERS STAUBACH, BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU? SECOND DOWN FOR THE EAGLES. AND THAT'S GUNNED AND BROKEN UP BY DEXTER JACKSON. >> TROY, I REALLY THINK THE STORY OF THIS FIRST HALF HAS BEEN THE FACT THAT THE EAGLES, OTHER THAN THE ONE LONG RUN FOR THE TOUCHDOWN BY DUCE STALEY, HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO ESTABLISH THEIR RUNNING GAME THE WAY THEY DID THAT FIRST GAME. SO, NOW WHAT YOU GOT GOING ON IS FALLING RIGHT INTO THE WAY THAT TAMPA LIKES TO PLAY DEFENSE -- RUSH THE PASSER, GET THOSE LINEBACKERS BACK IN COVERAGE. THIS IS THE STYLE THAT WORKS BEST FOR THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. NO PLAY-ACTION THEY HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT. JUST DROP BACK AND PLAY THE PASS. >> THIRD DOWN AND 10. DUMPED OFF TO WESTBROOK. THE ROOKIE BROUGHT DOWN SHY OF A FIRST DOWN. DERRICK BROOKS WAS IN ON THE STOP. THAT BROOKS IS EVERYWHERE. A BALL POPS UP IN THE AIR, BROOKS IS USUALLY THE GUY WAITING FOR IT, AND THAT WAS SEEN WITH HIS FIVE INTERCEPTIONS THIS SEASON AND FOUR TOUCHDOWNS THAT HE SCORED DURING THE REGULAR YEAR. >> WELL, HE'S JUST GOT SUCH GREAT MAKE-UP SPEED, AND HE'S VERY SELDOM OUT OF POSITION. AND EVEN WHEN HE IS, HE'S GOT THE SPEED AND THE QUICKNESS TO GET HIMSELF BACK INTO THE PLAY. A YEAR AGO, HE WASN'T HEALTHY. HE HAD A BAD FOOT. THIS YEAR HE HAS BEEN HEALTHY, AND WE'VE CERTAINLY SEEN THE KIND OF YEAR HE'S HAD. >> ANOTHER GOOD PUNT FROM JOHNSON. KARL WILLIAMS WAITING FOR IT, AND IT TAKES A GOOD EAGLES BOUNCE. THAT'S JOHNSON TWICE NOW... DROPPING THE BALL INSIDE THE 5. >> STARTING FROM THEIR 2, UP BY 3, THE BUCCANEERS. ALSTOTT. WOW. JACKKNIFED HIS WAY BACK TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. >> WELL, THE LAST POSSESSION, THEY HAD THE BALL ON THE 4-YARD LINE. THEY HANDED IT TO ALSTOTT, AND HE WAS ABLE TO PICK UP SOME BIG YARDS. THIS TIME THEY TRY TO COME BACK WITH THE SAME FORMULA. PHILADELPHIA CLOGS THE HOLE. HE DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE. >> YEAH, BUT DID YOU SEE ALL THE GUYS THEY HAD AROUND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE THAT TIME? THERE HAD TO BE NINE GUYS WITHIN ABOUT 4 OR 5 YARDS OF THE BALL. >> WELL, THEY'RE GONNA DARE BRAD JOHNSON TO THROW THE FOOTBALL DOWN HERE IN THIS SITUATION. THEY'RE STARTING TO TRY TO SPREAD THEM OUT NOW. >> GRUDEN ACCEPTS THE DARE, JUST DROPS IT OFF TO ALSTOTT. INCOMPLETE. A SAFE, QUICK THROW, AND THERE WAS NOTHING THERE ANYWAY, HAD ALSTOTT COME UP WITH THE CATCH. >> YEAH, WELL, A SAFE, QUICK THROW, BUT BRAD JOHNSON JUST RUSHED THAT ONE. HE COULD'VE AT LEAST GOTTEN THE BALL INTO ALSTOTT'S HANDS AND TRIED TO GET A FEW YARDS. NOW YOU'RE FACED WITH THIRD AND 10. IF JON GRUDEN IS TRUE TO WHAT HE TOLD US YESTERDAY, YOU CAN EXPECT A RUNNING PLAY HERE AND THEN JUST TRY TO PUNT THE BALL OUT. >> ONE THING THEY HAD SOME SUCCESS WITH IN THE LAST GAME WAS TRYING TO PIN THE DEFENSIVE END AND PITCH IT OUT AROUND THE CORNER TO THE LEFT SIDE. >> THIS IS WHERE JIM JOHNSON'S EAGLE DEFENSE MAKES AN IMPACT. THIRD AND LONG. PENALTY FLAGS ON THE PLAY. THAT'S STECKER. AND THE PLAY NEVER HAPPENED. STECKER GOT OUT TO THE 10. >> AND BRAD JOHNSON HAS TO BE HOT RIGHT NOW. HE DID EXACTLY THE RIGHT THING. HE WENT TO THE HARD COUNT, GOT THEM TO JUMP, AND ONE OF HIS GUYS FLINCHED. >> PRIOR TO THE SNAP, FALSE START, OFFENSE, NUMBER 62. HALF THE DISTANCE TO THE GOAL. THIRD DOWN. >> IT'S THE CENTER, JEFF CHRISTY. >> THAT'S THE LAST GUY WHO SHOULD BE JUMPING. BUT YOU'RE EXACTLY RIGHT, CRIS. YOU GET DOWN HERE IN THIS SITUATION. YOU TRY TO USE THE SNAP COUNT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. HE GOT HUGH DOUGLAS MOVING, BUT JEFF CHRISTY WAS THE ONE WHO WAS CALLED FOR OFFSIDES. >> THIS IS NOT A NexTurf INJURY FOR COSEY COLEMAN, AS HE WILL BE CARTED OFF. IT'S THE HELMET OF MIKE ALSTOTT. >> AND BOTH OF THEM HURT. AND FOR WHAT IS ALREADY A VERY THIN OFFENSIVE LINE FOR THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, IT GETS EVEN THINNER NOW. >> WELL, THEY BRING IN TODD WASHINGTON TO TAKE COSEY COLEMAN'S PLACE, AND TODD WASHINGTON'S A GUY WHO HAS PLAYED SOME ALREADY THIS YEAR AND HAS DONE A NICE JOB. HE'S A BIG MAN -- 6'3", 310 POUNDS. A LITTLE BIGGER, ACTUALLY, THAN WHAT COSEY COLEMAN IS. >> THIRD AND 11. HOW DARING DO THE BUCS WANT TO GET? NOT VERY. GAIN OF 1 ON THE PLAY, AND IT'S TIME FOR TAMPA BAY TO PUNT. AND THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY, VERY DIFFICULT PUNT RIGHT HERE, TOO. ANY TIME YOU'RE INSIDE THE 15 YARDS THAT YOU'RE USED TO HAVING TO PUNT THE FOOTBALL, YOUR PUNTER BASICALLY HAS TO JUST CATCH IT AND KICK IT. SO, IF HE CAN GET IT OUT EVEN TO THE 40-YARD LINE, IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT KICK FROM HERE. >> PUNTING INTO THE WIND. DID NOT HAVE A PUNT BLOCKED THIS SEASON. >> AND YOU CAN'T STEP BACKWARDS HERE, OR IT'S A SAFETY. >> LINE-DRIVE PUNT. SECOND BOUNCE WENT THE WAY OF THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. BUT AS IT IS, INTO THE WIND WITH VERY LITTLE ROOM WITH WHICH TO WORK. ONLY A 36-YARD PUNT FROM TOM TUPA. SO, GREAT FIELD POSITION FOR THE EAGLES... WHO TRAIL BY 3. JON GRUDEN ALREADY HAS THE EAR OF ONE OF THE LINESMAN OVER ON THE FAR SIDELINE. >> AND, JOE, THIS HAS BEEN REALLY A TERRIBLE START, I THINK, FOR PHILADELPHIA. YES, THEY GOT THE INITIAL TOUCHDOWN OFF OF THE GREAT KICKOFF RETURN BY MITCHELL, BUT SINCE THEN, THEY GOT THE INTERCEPTION AGAINST BRAD JOHNSON. THEY DID NOTHING. THEY HAD A ONE-AND-OUT -- OR THREE-AND-OUT SERIES. THEY DID NOTHING. THE LAST TIME, THEY DID NOTHING. NOW THEY HAVE THIS TREMENDOUS FIELD POSITION. IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO STEP UP AND MAKE A PLAY. >> FROM THE TAMPA BAY 38. McNABB FIRES. GREAT THROW, AND THE CATCH BY THRASH. FIRST DOWN. >> WELL, TROY, THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR. THEY'RE TRYING TO GET TAMPA BAY, WHEN THEY'RE WALKING THOSE SAFETIES UP AND THEY'RE PLAYING THE ONE-ON-ONE COVERAGE ON THE OUTSIDE, TO THROW THESE KINDS OF ROUTES. BECAUSE THE TAMPA CORNERS, AS GOOD AS THEY ARE IN COVER 2, THEY DO GIVE A LOT OF SPACE FOR THOSE UNDERNEATH ROUTES AND THE QUICK THROWS. >> YEAH, THEY'RE JUST NOT VERY GOOD WHEN THEY'RE IN ONE-ON-ONE COVERAGE, AS YOU SEE RIGHT THERE. AND JAMES THRASH IS A GUY WHO IS EMERGED ONCE AGAIN NOW THAT DONOVAN McNABB HAS COME BACK AND PLAYED QUARTERBACK. >> FIRST DOWN FOR PHILLY. THAT'S QUARLES WITH A QUICK TACKLE ON STALEY. >> WELL, AND MOST TEAMS HAVE NOT REALLY BEEN ABLE TO CHALLENGE THESE CORNERS FOR TAMPA BAY BECAUSE THE PASS RUSH GETS ON THE QUARTERBACK SO FAST THAT THEY HAVE TO GET THE BALL OUT QUICK. WHEN YOU'RE ABLE TO RUN ROUTES DEEPER, YOU'RE ABLE TO TRY TO TAKE A LITTLE BIT MORE ADVANTAGE OF HOW THEY COVER. ON SECOND AND 9, INTO THE END ZONE, AND PENALTY FLAG ON THE PLAY. YOU WONDER... IF THIS PASS WILL BE RULED UNCATCHABLE. THEY'RE GONNA CALL A HOLD AGAINST TAMPA BAY. >> YEAH, BRIAN KELLY GOT BEAT ON A POST-CORNER MOVE AND JUST HOOKED THE RECEIVER, JAMES THRASH. >> HOLDING, DEFENSE, NUMBER 25. 5-YARD PENALTY. AUTOMATIC FIRST DOWN. >> AND THEY REALLY CAUGHT A PRETTY GOOD BREAK RIGHT THERE WITH IT BEING JUST HOLDING INSTEAD OF PASS INTERFERENCE. THAT WAS VERY CLOSE. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY RULED THAT UNCATCHABLE. I THOUGHT THAT WAS A BREAK FOR THE BUCS. >> WELL, AND THAT'S WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IF YOU GIVE DONOVAN ENOUGH TIME TO SIT BACK IN THE POCKET AND YOU ALLOW THESE RECEIVERS TO RUN DEEPER ROUTES WHEN THEY DO HAVE THE ONE-ON-ONE MATCHUPS ON THE OUTSIDE, IT VERY MUCH FAVORS THE EAGLES BECAUSE THESE CORNERS, BOTH RONDE BARBER AND BRIAN KELLY, ARE NOT ACCUSTOMED TO HAVING TO COVER RECEIVERS, FIRST OF ALL, ONE-ON-ONE THAT OFTEN AND THEN, MORE IMPORTANTLY, FURTHER DOWN THE FIELD. YOU SAW, ONCE THEY GOT INTO SPACE, BRIAN KELLY -- ALL HE COULD DO WAS GRAB AHOLD. >> BIG SET FOR THE EAGLES AS THEY BRING IN TWO TIGHT ENDS. ANTONIO FREEMAN WIDE TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SCREEN. McNABB OVER THE MIDDLE FOR LEWIS, THE TIGHT END. >> WELL, GIVE ANDY REID A LOT OF CREDIT. HE'S PLAYING A GUESSING GAME RIGHT NOW AGAINST MONTE KIFFIN, THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR FOR THE BUCCANEERS. AND BY THROWING ON FIRST DOWN THE WAY THAT HE IS, HE'S GETTING THE KIND OF MATCHUPS THAT HE WANTS. >> SECOND DOWN AND 4. THE EAGLES, NUMBER 10 IN TOTAL OFFENSE DURING THE REGULAR SEASON. STALEY. STILL PUSHING HIS WAY FORWARD FOR A FIRST DOWN. >> WELL, MONTE KIFFIN HAS SO MUCH RESPECT FOR DUCE STALEY. I WAS TALKING WITH HIM EARLIER THIS WEEK, AND HE SAID, "BOY, I'D REALLY LIKE TO HAVE THAT DUCE STALEY ON MY FOOTBALL TEAM." AND I SAID, "YEAH, HE'S A GREAT RUNNING BACK." HE SAID, "NO, I WANT HIM TO PLAY LINEBACKER. THAT'S THE KIND OF GUY I WANT -- JUST TOUGH-MINDED, ALWAYS WILLING TO STICK IT IN THERE AND PUSH THE PILE." HE REALLY HAS GREAT RESPECT FOR HIM. >> FIRST AND GOAL FROM THE 10. QUICK THROW, AND THAT BALL CAME OUT... A LITTLE ODD, AS DWIGHT SMITH GETS UP POINTING AT DONOVAN McNABB. >> WELL, A LITTLE BIT OF A MISREAD RIGHT THERE. DONOVAN McNABB, AS YOU SEE HIM TALKING TO TODD PINKSTON. DONOVAN THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA RUN SOME KIND OF HITCH ROUTE. PINKSTON RUNS THE FADE. IT'S A GOOD THING THAT DONOVAN CATCHES IT AT THE LAST MINUTE. EITHER THAT OR IT'S AN ERRANT THROW BECAUSE, IF IT HAD BEEN UP, DWIGHT SMITH'S TAKING THIS ONE ALL THE WAY. >> SECOND AND GOAL. THAT'S STALEY. BROUGHT DOWN BEHIND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE BY SPIRES. A LOSS OF 2. >> AND, REALLY, FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES OFFENSE, THIS HAS BEEN A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR. THEY'RE AVERAGING ABOUT 26 POINTS A GAME, AND, YET, IN THEIR LAST TWO BALLGAMES, THEY'VE ONLY SCORED ONE OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN. THEY GOT THE SHORT FIELD BECAUSE OF THE MITCHELL KICKOFF RETURN. STUCK IT IN THERE. BUT MAYBE THEY NEED A LITTLE SHOT OF CONFIDENCE RIGHT NOW AND NEED TO COME UP WITH A PLAY. >> WELL, I KNOW RIGHT NOW, FOR THIS TAMPA DEFENSE, THIS IS GONNA BE MONUMENTAL IF THEY'RE ABLE TO HOLD THEM HERE TO NOTHING MORE THAN A FIELD-GOAL ATTEMPT, BASED ON THE FIELD POSITION THAT PHILADELPHIA GOT TO START THIS DRIVE. >> BEST RED-ZONE DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE. PLAY CLOCK... ALMOST EXPIRED. AND McNABB. WOW. BUYING ALL KINDS OF TIME. GUNS IT OUT OF THE BACK OF THE END ZONE. AND YOU CAN'T DO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT DONOVAN McNABB DID TO BUY TIME WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO GET OPEN. MONTE KIFFIN'S DEFENSIVE BACKS DID A TREMENDOUS JOB. >> WELL, YOU'RE EXACTLY RIGHT. IN ORDER FOR DONOVAN McNABB TO HAVE THAT KIND OF TIME TO THROW THE FOOTBALL AND MOVE AROUND AND YET FIND NOBODY TO DELIVER THE BALL TO, THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR THIS SECONDARY AND THE JOB THAT THEY'VE DONE. OF COURSE, TODD PINKSTON THERE. BUT BY THAT TIME, DONOVAN McNABB HAD ALREADY STARTED RUNNING TO HIS RIGHT AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND HIM. GREAT JOB BY THE LINEBACKERS AND THIS SECONDARY GROUP TO KEEP THOSE GUYS COVERED. >> DAVID AKERS... HEADED TO THE PRO BOWL. 30-YARD TRY. IT IS GOOD. BARELY. >> THE FLYERS BEAT THE LIGHTNING LAST NIGHT 3-2 IN NHL ACTION. I WASN'T QUITE SURE IF THIS GAME WAS GONNA BE THAT HIGH-SCORING. >> [ LAUGHS ] >> BUT I KNEW IT WOULD BE TIGHT. AND HERE WE ARE WITH 20 TOTAL POINTS, 10-10... WITH JUST OVER 8:00 TO PLAY IN THE FIRST HALF. >> JOE, I THINK THAT PHILADELPHIA HAS TO BE A LITTLE BIT DISAPPOINTED WITH WHAT THEIR OFFENSE HAS DONE SO FAR. THEY'VE HAD THE BETTER FIELD POSITION, THEY'VE GOTTEN A TURNOVER, AND THEY REALLY HAVE NOT DONE VERY MUCH AT ALL WITH IT. >> YEAH, EVERYTHING YOU TALK ABOUT GOING IN ABOUT FIELD POSITION BEING SO IMPORTANT AND THEN WHO WINS THE TURNOVER BATTLE, AND HERE WE ARE IN THE SECOND QUARTER -- BOTH OF THOSE FAVORING PHILADELPHIA, AND YET IT'S A TIE BALLGAME. >> YOU SEE THE TOTAL YARDS AFTER RACKING UP 329 A WEEK AGO AGAINST THE 49ers, A PLAYOFF RECORD FOR THE TAMPA BAY FRANCHISE. AND NOW DAMEANE DOUGLAS IS JUST GONNA HAVE TO GO OVER AND HOLD THAT BALL UP. HE GETS TO PLAY LUCY TO DAVID AKERS' CHARLIE BROWN, AS HE WAITS FOR AKERS TO COME KNOCK IT OUT OF HIS HAND. >> LET'S HOPE HE DOESN'T DO IT LIKE LUCY DID. >> NO, THAT WOULDN'T BE FAIR. IN THEIR MINDS, IT WAS OKAY FOR HIM TO RUN AND PICK UP 5, 10 YARDS. WHAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DO IS WHAT THEY DID THE FIRST TIME AGAINST THEM, WHICH IS, WHEN HE STARTS TO SCRAMBLE, COME RUNNING UP TOWARDS HIM AND LEAVE PEOPLE OPEN BEHIND HIM. THAT TIME, THEY WERE BURNED EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. >> WELL, TAMPA BAY SHOULD CERTAINLY KNOW THAT DONOVAN McNABB, AS GOOD A RUNNER AS HE IS -- AND HE'S PROBABLY NOT AS EFFECTIVE TODAY AS WHAT HE NORMALLY IS BECAUSE OF THE INJURY. BUT EVEN YET, WHEN DONOVAN GETS OUTSIDE THE POCKET AND STARTS MOVING AROUND, HE IS LOOKING TO THROW BEFORE HE IS LOOKING TO RUN. >> AND WE HAVE NOT SEEN ANY MOBILE QUARTERBACKS HAVE MUCH SUCCESS AGAINST TAMPA'S DEFENSE, BUT DONOVAN SCRAMBLING AND STILL TRYING TO THROW THE FOOTBALL IS THE BEST WE'VE SEEN. >> MOVEMENT BY TRA THOMAS. >> FALSE START, OFFENSE, NUMBER 72. 5-YARD PENALTY. FIRST DOWN. >> EVERYBODY WAS CREEPING UP SHOWING BLITZ. >> YEAH, YOU SEE JOHN LYNCH. HE'S GONNA COME RUNNING UP, AND THAT'S GONNA BE THE GUY... YOU SEE HIM RIGHT HERE, JOHN LYNCH. HE COMES UP, AND THAT'S WHAT CAUSES TRA THOMAS TO COME OUT A LITTLE EARLY. >> SIMEON RICE MAY HAVE CAUSED IT A LITTLE BIT, TOO. HE'S ALWAYS STRUGGLED THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER AGAINST SIMEON RICE. >> FIRST PENALTY CALLED AGAINST THE EAGLES ALL DAY. AND IT BRINGS UP THE FIRST AND 15. DUMPED OFF, TRYING TO SET UP THE SCREEN, AND IT'S THROUGH THE HANDS OF STALEY. AND NOW PENALTY FLAGS COME IN AT THE END OF THE PLAY. >> AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY MIGHT GET A LINEMAN DOWNFIELD. >> THE PRESSURE THAT TIME FORCED DONOVAN TO THROW THAT SCREEN A LITTLE QUICKER THAN HE WANTED TO. >> LOOKED LIKE JOHN WELBOURN MIGHT'VE BEEN DOWNFIELD TOO FAR. INELIGIBLE. >> SO, THE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN WHO STUDIED THE RHETORIC OF EARLY 20th-CENTURY POETRY WENT DOWN TOO SOON. >> ...INELIGIBLE RECEIVER, OFFENSE, NUMBER 76. 5-YARD PENALTY. FIRST DOWN. >> I DON'T THINK, THOUGH, IT CAN BE AN ILLEGAL TOUCH IF IT GOES OFF OF DUCE STALEY. AND LET'S CHECK IT OUT RIGHT HERE. IF IT HITS HIS HANDS, WHICH IT DID, NOW IT'S NOT AN ILLEGAL TOUCH. THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A FOUL, I DON'T BELIEVE -- LET ME THROW THAT ONE OUT THERE. >> NO, NO, YOU'RE RIGHT. IF IT HIT DUCE STALEY, WHICH EVERY INDICATION THERE WAS THAT IT DID... THEN THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A PENALTY. >> AND NOW TERRY McAULAY IS BEING CALLED OVER TO THE SIDELINE TO GIVE IT A LOOK. >> AND IT WAS A LITTLE BIT UNUSUAL IN THAT THE BALL DIDN'T REALLY BREAK ITS SPIRAL WHEN HE TOUCHED IT, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR -- >> THE PLAY WILL BE REVIEWED TO DETERMINE WHICH RECEIVER TOUCHED THE BALL FIRST. >> THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR THAT THE BALL WAS TOUCHED BY STALEY. >> DEFINITELY TOUCHED BY STALEY AND THEN INTO THE BACK OF WELBOURN. RIGHT THERE. >> YOU KNOW, IT IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT. REMEMBER WE'RE BACK IN THAT CATEGORY OF "IS IT CONCLUSIVE?" AND IF THE BALL'S FLIGHT HAD CHANGED A LITTLE BIT, THAT'S CONCLUSIVE. WHO KNOWS ANYMORE? THIS IS -- I'LL JUST LET THEM CALL IT. I'M GONNA SHUT UP. HOW ABOUT THAT? IS THAT GOOD? [ LAUGHTER ] >> YOU HAVE TO WONDER IF ANY OF THESE OFFICIALS WILL BE FAMOUS AFTER TODAY. >> I KNOW THEY HOPE NOT. >> YEAH, WE HOPE NOT, TOO. >> SO, TERRY McAULAY'S GIVING IT A LOOK, AND I THINK THAT FIRST ANGLE THAT WE GAVE YOU... THERE ARE THE NAMES. MIKE PEREIRA, THE DIRECTOR OF OFFICIATING IS HERE WITH A LOT OF THE GENTLEMEN THAT JOIN HIM IN HIS OFFICE WATCHING THE WORK. AND HE'S EXCITED TO HAVE TERRY McAULAY WORKING THIS GAME. McAULAY LOOKING AT THE DIFFERENT REPLAYS UNDER THE HOOD, AND I THINK, IF HE GETS A GOOD LOOK AT THAT FIRST REPLAY, THEY WILL CHANGE THEIR MIND WITH THE ILLEGAL TOUCH. >> AFTER REVIEW, THE BALL TOUCHED NUMBER 22'S HAND FIRST, AN ELIGIBLE RECEIVER. THERE IS NO FOUL ON THE PLAY. IT'LL BE SECOND DOWN, 15. >> WELL, THESE REFEREES ARE REMARKABLE. THEY NEVER MAKE A MISTAKE, DO THEY? >> [ LAUGHS ] >> JUST LOOK AT GRUDEN. "WHATEVER! LET'S PLAY!" AND TO GO BACK TO GRUDEN REAL QUICK... HERE'S A GUY WHO GREW UP AROUND COACHING. HIS FATHER WAS A COACH. GRUDEN HAS KNOWN JIM JOHNSON, THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR FOR THE EAGLES, SINCE HE WAS 7 YEARS OLD, AND NOW HERE HE IS TRYING TO MATCH WITS AGAINST A GUY REGARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE NFL. SECOND DOWN AND 15, AND A HAND-OFF TO STALEY. WARREN SAPP IN ON THE TACKLE, AS STALEY GETS INSIDE THE 25. >> WELL, AND YOU WONDER RIGHT NOW WHETHER OR NOT PHILADELPHIA IS JUST TRYING TO GET THEMSELVES IN A BETTER POSITION TO ATTEMPT A FIELD GOAL, OR IF RIGHT HERE, ON THIRD AND 10, IF THEY'RE GONNA DO SOMETHING THAT MAY GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO PICK UP THE FIRST DOWN. I WOULDN'T COMPLETELY BE SURPRISED RIGHT HERE TO SEE THEM COME WITH A SCREEN PASS. THEY RUN THE SCREEN PLAY AS WELL AS ANYBODY IN FOOTBALL. >> IT'S STALEY IN THE BACKFIELD AND NOT LEVENS, WHO'S TYPICALLY IN ON A SCREEN. AS McNABB HAS IT KNOCKED OUT OF HIS HAND. THE BALL IS LIVE, AND IT'S PICKED UP BY SIMEON RICE. THERE WAS NO WHISTLE. RIGHT NOW IT'S BEING RULED A FUMBLE. >> NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. McAULAY THREW HIS BEANBAG, WHICH MEANS, IN HIS MIND AT THIS POINT, THAT IS A FUMBLE. SIMEON RICE IS GOING TO BRING THE INITIAL PRESSURE, AND THEN IT'S JUST GOING TO BE A BIT OF JAILBREAK. THEY ALL SORT OF MEET AT McNABB. >> THAT BALL LOOKED TO BE, ON THAT REPLAY, OUT BEFORE THE ARM STARTED FORWARD. >> IT DID TO ME. IT'S THE SECOND WEEK IN A ROW THAT SIMEON RICE HAS DONE THAT AND KNOCKED THE BALL OUT OF THE QUARTERBACK'S HAND. HE DID IT LAST WEEK. HE DID IT THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET IN OCTOBER THAT LED TO THE TOUCHDOWN FOR DERRICK BROOKS. HE'S BRINGING THE BALL BACK, AND THE BALL IS COMING OUT BEFORE HE HAS A CHANCE TO THROW IT FORWARD. >> CRIS, YOU THINK THE RAIDERS ARE WATCHING THIS GAME? >> OH, YEAH, AND I WAS WONDERING HOW QUICKLY THEY WERE GONNA GO TO THE BOOTH FOR A REPLAY. >> SECOND CHARGED TIME-OUT, PHILADELPHIA. IT'LL BE A 30-SECOND TIME-OUT. >> PHILADELPHIA. >> AND THAT'S WHY THEY TOOK IT. THEY TOOK THAT TIME-OUT BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO GIVE THE REPLAY OFFICIAL A CHANCE TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT IT BECAUSE IT'S ESSENTIALLY 3 POINTS FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES IF THAT WERE TO BE RULED INCOMPLETE. AND HE'S SAYING, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU'RE NOT GONNA GO REVIEW THE PLAY?" >> WELL, THEY'RE LEFT WITH ONE TIME-OUT, THE EAGLES ARE. AND YOU WONDER -- AND WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM TERRY McAULAY WHETHER THEY GRANTED THE TIME-OUT PRIOR TO THE PLAY. >> WELL, I DON'T THINK IT MATTERS. I DON'T KNOW THAT THEY CAN GO BACK NOW AND THEN REVIEW IT FROM THE BOOTH. BUT EVEN IF THEY CAN -- YOU SEE THE OPEN HAND. DONOVAN' ARM IS NEVER MOVING FORWARD, AND THE BALL'S OUT. THAT'S CLEARLY A FUMBLE. >> AND I BELIEVE THE REPLAY OFFICIAL IS JUST SIMPLY SAYING, "I DON'T THINK WE NEED TO REVIEW IT. I'VE SEEN ENOUGH." BUT THAT AGAIN IS ANOTHER PLAY BY SIMEON RICE. IN THE FIRST MATCHUP BETWEEN THESE TWO TEAMS -- TRA THOMAS -- HE WENT RIGHT AROUND HIM AND HAD A SACK AND A CAUSED FUMBLE, WHICH DERRICK BROOKS PICKED UP AND RAN IN FOR A TOUCHDOWN. >> WELL, BRAD JOHNSON AND HIS OFFENSIVE TEAMMATES SPRINT OFF THE FIELD. AND IT'S GOT TO BE QUITE A DIFFERENT FEELING, GUYS, FOR THIS TAMPA BAY TEAM, ESPECIALLY THE DEFENSE, WHICH HAS BEEN SO GOOD TYPICALLY IN THESE GAMES, WATCHING THE OFFENSE DO WHAT THEY'VE DONE TODAY. YOU LOOK AT THE TOTAL YARDS -- 226 IN THE FIRST HALF FOR THE BUCS. WHAT A CHANGE FROM, WELL, THE FIRST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET BACK ON OCTOBER 20th. >> AND THE FACT THAT PHILADELPHIA'S OFFENSE IS STRUGGLING AGAINST TAMPA'S DEFENSE, WELL, MAYBE THAT'S NOT SHOCKING BECAUSE THIS IS THE BEST DEFENSE IN FOOTBALL. BUT THE FACT THAT TAMPA'S OFFENSE HAS BEEN RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE FIELD AGAINST THE TREMENDOUS PHILADELPHIA DEFENSE, THAT IS STARTLING. >> WELL, I QUESTION -- YOU'RE NOT GONNA PICK UP THIRD-AND-10 SITUATIONS VERY OFTEN AGAINST EITHER ONE OF THESE DEFENSES. I QUESTION THE CALL. IF ANDY REID HAD BEEN A LITTLE MORE CONSERVATIVE THERE, AT LEAST YOU GIVE YOUR TEAM A CHANCE TO ATTEMPT THE FIELD GOAL AND GO IN WITH 3 MORE POINTS. >> 17-10. THAT'S THE SCORE AT THE HALF. TAMPA BAY ON TOP. AND, GUYS, WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT -- AND I THINK IT'S EASY TO FORGET HOW THIS GAME STARTED WITH ALL THAT'S TRANSPIRED SINCE THE OPENING KICKOFF -- HERE ARE THE EAGLES -- THEY GET THE 70-YARD KICK RETURN. THEY GO RIGHT IN FOR A TOUCHDOWN. I THINK TAMPA BAY DESERVES A LOT OF CREDIT FOR NOT PACKING IT IN AND SAYING, "HERE WE GO AGAIN. WE'RE BACK IN PHILLY, AND WE'RE LOOKING UP AT THE EAGLES." >> ABSOLUTELY. AND THEY COULD HAVE PACKED IT IN WHEN THEY GOT BACK ON THEIR OWN 4-YARD LINE -- AND THEY TAKE IT DOWN AND SCORE. BRAD JOHNSON'S THROWING THE BALL GREAT. THEY'RE CONVERTING THIRD DOWNS. THEY'RE DOING ALL THE THINGS THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO IN PREVIOUS MATCHUPS. >> AND I THINK PHILADELPHIA HAS BEEN WAY TOO CONSERVATIVE SO FAR IN THIS GAME. WHERE ARE THE BLITZES FROM JIM JOHNSON? WHERE ARE THE THROWS DOWN THE FIELD? DONOVAN McNABB IS YOUR SUPERSTAR PLAYER. GET THE BALL IN HIS HANDS. LET HIM WIN THE FOOTBALL GAME FOR YOU. >> WE'LL HEAR FROM PAM OLIVER AFTER THE KICK, WHICH WILL BE OFF THE LEFT FOOT OF DAVID AKERS, WITH STECKER WAITING DEEP. AARON STECKER FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE 10. GETS IT UP TO THE 30. AND LET'S GO DOWN TO PAM OLIVER. PAM? >> OKAY, JOE. JON GRUDEN, WHOSE TEAM HAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNED THIS PHILADELPHIA CROWD, SAYS, "IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO JUST MAINTAIN OUR TEMPO. WE HAVE JUST GOT TO DO WHAT WE DID IN THE FIRST HALF, NOT LET UP WHATSOEVER, STAY AGGRESSIVE." MEANWHILE, FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, ANTONIO FREEMAN ONE OF THE LONE VOICES YOU COULD HEAR AS THE EAGLES MADE THEIR WAY UP THE TUNNEL. HE REMINDED HIS TEAMMATES, "WE'VE GOT TO STAY ENTHUSIASTIC. THERE IS PLENTY OF FOOTBALL LEFT." BACK TO YOU. [ CROWD CHEERING ] >> CROWD'S BACK. PITTMAN PICKING HIS WAY OVER THE RIGHT SIDE. AND A PENALTY FLAG COMES IN AT THE END OF THE PLAY. AND IT'S A HOLD AGAINST THE BUCCANEERS. >> AND, JOE, JUST TO GET BACK TO MY POINT FOR ONE MINUTE HERE -- TODD WASHINGTON IS THE NEW OFFENSIVE LINEMAN IN THE GAME. THE BUCS HAVE STRUGGLED ALL YEAR WITH BLITZ PICKUP ANYWAY. >> HOLDING, OFFENSE. NUMBER 67. 10-YARD PENALTY. FIRST DOWN. >> AND THEY NEVER REALLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT IN THE FIRST HALF BY BLITZING. NOW COSEY COLEMAN'S BACK IN THE FOOTBALL GAME HERE IN THE SECOND HALF, AND YOU EXPECT THE BUCS TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT BETTER THAN WHAT THEY WOULD HAVE IN THE FIRST HALF. >> LAST THREE GAMES AT THE VET IN PHILADELPHIA FOR TAMPA BAY -- NO TOUCHDOWNS IN 36 POSSESSIONS. THEY HAVE TWO TODAY. OVER THE MIDDLE. THAT'S PITTMAN, AND HE'S WRAPPED UP IMMEDIATELY BY KIRKLAND. >> I ALWAYS THINK IT'S INTERESTING WHEN YOU COME OUT TO START THE SECOND HALF AND FIND OUT WHAT THE COACHES TALKED ABOUT IN THE LOCKER ROOM AT HALFTIME AND WHAT KIND OF ADJUSTMENTS THEY'RE GONNA MAKE. YOU SEE TAMPA BAY CAME OUT RUNNING THE BALL WITH MICHAEL PITTMAN, BUT BECAUSE OF THE HOLDING PENALTY IT THEN PUTS THEM IN SECOND AND LONG. THEN THEY HAVE TO GET OUT OF THEIR GAME PLAN, START TRYING TO THROW THE BALL. BRAD BEING PATIENT THERE, BUT RIGHT NOW THEY'RE FIGHTING AN UPHILL BATTLE AT SECOND AND 16. >> JOHNSON DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD, AND IT WAS IN AND OUT OF THE ARMS OF KEYSHAWN JOHNSON. >> BOY, THAT'S A PLAY FOR KEYSHAWN JOHNSON YOU JUST HAVE TO MAKE. HE'S MADE SOME GOOD PLAYS, BUT BRAD JOHNSON JUST THREW AN ABSOLUTE LASER IN HERE. YOU CAN'T ASK FOR ONE BETTER THAN THAT. I MEAN, DOWN LOW, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT KIRKLAND HITTING YOU IN THE CHOPS. YOU WANT TO GO THE SUPER BOWL, YOU BETTER MAKE THAT ONE. >> AND THAT IS A PROBLEM THAT KEYSHAWN JOHNSON HAS HAD THROUGHOUT THE SEASON WITH DROPPED BALLS. NOW WHAT IS JON GRUDEN GONNA DO IN THIRD AND LONG? IS HE GONNA BE CONSERVATIVE AND TRY TO JUST PLAY WITH DEFENSE OR HIS HE GONNA TRY TO PICK THIS ONE UP? >> BRAD JOHNSON WITH PLENTY OF TIME. AND THERE'S NO ONE OPEN. AND A GOOD START DEFENSIVELY FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. >> AND JON GRUDEN WAS TELLING US YESTERDAY -- WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE WHEN IT'S THIRD AND 10? ABOUT 10%. SOMETHING LIKE THAT. HE SAID, "HALLMARK CARDS FOR EVERYBODY. GOOD LUCK AT THAT POINT." AND ESPECIALLY AGAINST THIS DEFENSE. >> AND THAT WAS A GOOD DEFENSIVE STAND RIGHT THERE BY THE EAGLES. AND NOW THEY SHOULD GET GOOD FIELD POSITION AFTER THIS RETURN AND GIVE THEIR BALL BACK TO THE OFFENSE WITH A CHANCE TO TRY TO COME AWAY WITH SOME POINTS. >> THAT HOLDING CALL REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE. >> THE DANGEROUS MITCHELL WAITING DEEP. LINE-DRIVE PUNT FROM TUPA. ON A HOP. BIG HIT. THAT WAS GOLDEN, ONE OF THE BACKUP LINEBACKERS. >> THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, DURING THE REGULAR SEASON, THE SEVENTH-BEST TEAM IN THE NFL, AVERAGING OVER 138 YARDS ON THE GROUND PER GAME. STALEY RUSHED FOR 152 YARDS AGAINST TAMPA BACK IN OCTOBER. THE EAGLES HAVE RUSHED FOR ONLY 50 SO FAR IN THIS GAME. WESTBROOK CAN'T HANG ON. IT'S SECOND AND 10. >> I KNOW IN TALKING WITH DONOVAN McNABB YESTERDAY, HE FELT THAT IN THEIR FIRST MATCHUP IN OCTOBER THAT HE WAS A LITTLE IMPATIENT, TRIED FORCING THROWS. HE REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE IMPORTANT FOR HIM TODAY TO COME DOWN TO HIS UNDERNEATH THROWS, THE CHECK DOWNS TO THE BACKS. IT'S EXACTLY WHAT HE TRIES DOING HERE WITH WESTBROOK, AND IT'S INCOMPLETE. SO NOW YOU'RE BEHIND THE CHAINS AGAIN. YOU'RE AT SECOND AND LONG. AND ANY TIME YOU COME OUT AND THROW THE BALL ON FIRST DOWN, YOU'VE GOT TO BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE PASSES AND STAY AHEAD OF THE GAME. >> ONLY 119 TOTAL YARDS SO FAR FOR THE EAGLES. THAT'S STALEY. WELL PLAYED. JACKSON. DEXTER JACKSON, THE FREE SAFETY, GOT OFF HIS BLOCK AND MADE A SOLID TACKLE. A GAIN OF ONLY 2. >> AS GREAT A SCREEN TEAM AS PHILADELPHIA IS, YOU JUST CAN'T PRACTICE AGAINST THE SPEED OF THIS TAMPA BAY DEFENSE. YOU GET OUT THERE IN OPEN SPACES AND YOU THINK YOUR LINEMAN ARE GONNA BE ABLE TO MAKE A BLOCK, AND THEY JUST OLé YOU AND GO BY AND THEN COME UP AND MAKE THE TACKLE. A GREAT TACKLING TEAM. A VERY ATHLETIC DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL TEAM. THAT TIME JACKSON PLAYED IT BEAUTIFULLY. >> THE NUMBERS FOR THE EAGLES ON THIRD DOWN. IT'S THIRD AND 8. >> HERE THEY COME. >> AND THEY ARE COMING. THE OFFENSIVE LINE PICKS IT UP, AND THE THROW IS...CAUGHT. CHAD LEWIS WITH A TREMENDOUS CATCH ON A BALL RIGHT OFF THE TOP OF THIS TURF. >> THEY SHOWED BLITZ, THEY PULLED OUT AND THEY PLAYED MAN-TO-MAN COVERAGE. AND CHAD LEWIS JUST DOES A GREAT JOB OF PULLING THIS ONE UP OFF THE GROUND. YOU'RE RIGHT, JOE -- THAT WAS NOT A VERY GOOD THROW. AND CHAD LEWIS, WHO'S RUNNING AWAY FROM WHERE THAT BALL WAS THROWN, BEING ABLE TO REDIRECT HIS BODY AND STILL MAKE THE CATCH. GREAT ATHLETIC PLAY. >> FROM MIDFIELD. IT'S FIRST DOWN. IT'S DUCE STALEY. SHORT GAIN OVER THE RIGHT SIDE. ONLY 3. IT WAS DERRICK BROOKS WHO WAS THE FIRST TO GET THERE. >> AND TROY, I THINK THAT PRIOR PLAY IS A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD BECAUSE NOT ONLY WAS IT A GOOD PICKUP AND A FIRST DOWN, BUT IT ALSO SENDS A MESSAGE TO MONTE KIFFIN -- "HEY, YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU WANT TO TRY AND BLITZ US." AND I KNOW DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS GET A LITTLE GUN-SHY WHEN YOU FIRE YOUR BULLETS A FEW TIMES AND IT DOESN'T WORK BACK. AND NOW WE'LL SEE IF THEY JUST SIT BACK AND PLAY THEIR REGULAR DEFENSE. >> SECOND DOWN AND 7. BLITZ COMING OFF THE CORNER. AND IT WAS BARBER WHO GOT THERE. THE BALL'S KNOCKED OUT, AND TAMPA BAY ENDS UP WITH IT. ELLIS WYMS WITH THE RECOVERY, BUT ON A CORNER BLITZ, IT WAS RONDE BARBER WHO KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE HAND OF McNABB. >> AND IT'S THE EXACT SAME WAY THAT SIMEON RICE WAS ABLE TO KNOCK THE BALL OUT OF DONOVAN'S HAND. YOU SEE HIM -- 20, RONDE BARBER. RIGHT THERE. DONOVAN BRINGS THE BALL BACK. RONDE BARBER COMING OFF THE EDGE. TRA THOMAS TRIES GETTING A HAND ON HIM. BUT RONDE BARBER TOO QUICK AND ABLE TO PULL THE BALL OFF OF DONOVAN'S HAND. >> NUMBER 75 IS AN ELIGIBLE RECEIVER. >> YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHERE RONDE BARBER IS IN YOUR PASS PROTECTION. HE'S HAD THREE SACKS DURING THE COURSE OF THE REGULAR SEASON, SO WHEN YOU GET IN THOSE SLOT FORMATIONS, YOU HAVE TO BE AWARE OF HIM. >> AND DONOVAN'S THE ONE WHO HAS TO BE ABLE TO SEE THAT. >> LOMAS BROWN CHECKS IN AS AN ELIGIBLE RECEIVER. AND BRAD JOHNSON, AFTER THE TURNOVER -- THE SECOND OF THE DAY BY THE EAGLES -- HAS TO SPEND AN EARLY TIME-OUT. >> DONOVAN McNABB AND BRAD CHILDRESS, THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, TALKING IT OVER ON THE EAGLES SIDELINE. FIRST DOWN FOR THE BUCCANEERS. INSIDE EAGLE TERRITORY. JOHNSON HAS TIME. AND THAT'S BEEN A BIG STORY TODAY. COMPLETES THE PASS TO McCARDELL. >> WELL, YOU'RE RIGHT, JOE. WHEN THEY'VE ONLY BROUGHT FOUR PEOPLE, THAT DEFENSIVE FRONT -- THE OFFENSIVE LINE FOR TAMPA'S DONE A NICE JOB OF HOLDING UP AND GIVING BRAD TIME TO SIT IN THE POCKET AND THROW THE FOOTBALL. AND WE ALL KNOW, ANY QUARTERBACK -- PARTICULARLY BRAD JOHNSON -- WHEN HE'S GOT TIME, HE'S PRETTY DANGEROUS. >> ALL THEY'RE DOING IS RUSHING FOUR. I GUESS HE'S GONNA HAVE TIME. >> SECOND DOWN AND 6. CARLOS EMMONS WAS UP ON THE LINE, NOW BACKS OFF. COMES ON THE RUNNING PLAY. AND IT'S PITTMAN WHO GOES NOWHERE. SIMON IN ON THE STOP. >> I WANT TO GO BACK FOR JUST A MOMENT TO THE PLAY THAT BARBER MADE. I WAS WONDERING WHETHER OR NOT MONTE KIFFIN WAS GOING TO STAY AGGRESSIVE. HE GOT BURNED ON THE BLITZ THE PLAY PRIOR, AND HE COMES RIGHT BACK AGAIN WITH A CORNER BLITZ AFTER THAT. THAT HAS BEEN THE STORY OF THIS ENTIRE GAME IN MY OPINION -- THE BUCCANEERS HAVE COME OUT REALLY TO PLAY THIS GAME TO WIN. THEY'VE STAYED AGGRESSIVE ALL DAY LONG, AND IT'S BEEN SUCCESSFUL FOR THEM. >> CHANCE FOR THE EAGLE DEFENSE NOW ON THIRD AND 5. JOHNSON HIT AS HE LET IT GO. AND OUT OF BOUNDS IT FLIES. PRESSURE BY DARWIN WALKER, WHO WAS SO GOOD IN THE FIRST MEETING BETWEEN THESE TWO TEAMS JON GRUDEN SAID THEY GAVE HIM $7 MILLION AS A SIGNING BONUS AND A CONTRACT EXTENSION. >> YEAH, AND HE'S BEEN PRETTY GOOD ALL SEASON LONG, REALLY. JIM JOHNSON TOLD US AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON THAT THE KEY TO THIS DEFENSIVE SUCCESS WAS GONNA BE THE PLAY OF DARWIN WALKER. AND HE'S DONE A GREAT JOB GETTING PRESSURE ON THE QUARTERBACK AS WELL AS STOPPING THE RUN, AND HE DISRUPTED THE PLAY THERE. >> SO GOOD WORK BY THE EAGLES DEFENSE NOW AFTER THE TURNOVER, AND TUPA ON FOR ANOTHER PUNT. THAT THING GOES STRAIGHT UP INTO THE AIR. WENT NOWHERE. AND BACKS UP. >> THANKS, TOM, FOR THAT 6-YARD PUNT. >> DOWN ON THE FIELD WE HAVE SEEN THE EFFECT OF THE WIND HERE. IT WAS REALLY AT THE BACK OF TOM TUPA, BUT THIS THING JUST WENT STRAIGHT UP. OFFICIALLY, ONLY A 6-YARD PUNT FROM TUPA. >> AND RYAN BENJAMIN, HE'S THE DEEP SNAPPER. AND HE WAS PRETTY EXCITED THERE FOR A MINUTE -- HE FINALLY OUTRAN HIMSELF A PUNT -- TILL HE REALIZED IT WAS ONLY 6 YARDS. >> HAD TO MOONWALK TO COVER THAT DUCK. >> [ LAUGHS ] FROM THEIR OWN 36. THE EAGLES. McNABB FALLS FORWARD FOR A GAIN OF 1. >> THE ONE THING THAT DONOVAN McNABB IS VERY AWARE OF IS SIMEON RICE, WHO'S BEEN COMING AROUND THE CORNER. AND YOU'LL SEE DONOVAN McNABB STEPPING UP IN THE POCKET. HE GETS THE GREAT RUSH UP THE FIELD, AND McNABB, IN THE THE LAST GAME, TOOK A COUPLE OF STEPS TO HIS RIGHT, AND RICE WAS ABLE TO CIRCLE ALL THE WAY AROUND AND KNOCK THE BALL OUT OF HIS HANDS. DONOVAN'S VERY CONSCIOUS OF NOT MOVING RIGHT IN THIS GAME. >> SECOND DOWN AND 9. THROW TO THE SIDELINE. AND THE CATCH IS MADE JUST SHY OF THE 41. THAT WAS JAMES THRASH. >> BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE THAT TAMPA BAY IS ABLE TO GET ON DONOVAN McNABB FROM THE OUTSIDE -- AS YOU MENTIONED, FROM SIMEON RICE -- NOW DONOVAN McNABB IS GOING TO MORE THREE-STEP DROPS AS HE WAS THERE, AND SO NOTHING HAS TIME TO DEVELOP QUITE. YOU CAN'T HOLD ON TO THE FOOTBALL. HE HAD TO COME BACK OUT HERE TO THIS SIDELINE AND GET RID OF THE BALL. AT LEAST NOW THEY'RE IN A THIRD AND MANAGEABLE POSITION. >> WHICH IS THIRD AND 5. BUCCANEERS COME ON A BLITZ. IT'S BARBER AGAIN. AND QUARLES. AND THE PASS IS JUST FLIPPED FORWARD, INCOMPLETE FOR WESTBROOK. QUARLES AND BARBER AGAIN OFF THE CORNER. AND THIS CROWD IS LETTING THE EAGLES OFFENSE HAVE IT A BIT. >> DONOVAN WAS AUDIBLING AT THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. I THINK HE SAW THE BLITZ COMING. HE JUST WASN'T ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. HERE THEY COME OFF OF THIS SIDE -- ONE, TWO. AND QUARLES IS GONNA COME RIGHT UP THE GUT AND FORCE HIM OUT OF THE POCKET. DONOVAN JUST TRIES TO SHOVEL THE THING FORWARD. I THINK IT'S JUST ABOUT TIME NOW THAT DONOVAN STARTS HAVING SOME PLAYS CALLED WHERE HE CAN GET OUT OF THE POCKET. MOVE HIM OUT, LET HIM USE HIS ATHLETICISM. DON'T JUST SIT IN THE POCKET. THEY'RE LOSING THE BATTLE IN THERE. >> LEE JOHNSON, THE PUNTER, HAS HAD A NICE DAY FOR THE EAGLES. LINE-DRIVE PUNT INTO THE WIND. AND THAT'S ABOUT ALL JOHNSON COULD HOPE FOR. >> FINAL GAME AT VETERANS STADIUM IN PHILADELPHIA, WHERE THE BUCCANEERS HOLD A 7-POINT LEAD. THAT'S TIKI BARBER. HAD A TREMENDOUS YEAR THIS YEAR WITH THE GIANTS. WAS UNSURE AS TO WHETHER HE WAS GONNA COME DOWN HERE, BECAUSE HE'S NOT TOO WELL LIKED IN THESE PARTS BY THE EAGLE FANS. WATCHING HIS TWIN BROTHER, RONDE, WORK OFF THE CORNER FOR TAMPA BAY. HAND-OFF TO PITTMAN, AND HE WAS LUCKY TO HANG ON TO THAT HAND-OFF. >> WE JUST SAW THE EAGLES COME OUT AND BLITZ ON THAT DOWN, AND THEY WERE EFFECTIVE. I JUST WONDER WHERE IT'S BEEN. THEY'VE GOT THE BEST SECONDARY IN FOOTBALL. LET THOSE GUYS PLAY SOME MAN-TO-MAN AND GET AFTER THEM. >> SECOND DOWN AND 12. AND THIS BALL IS DUMPED OFF. THAT'S KARL WILLIAMS. HIS FIRST CATCH OF THE DAY. AT SOME POINT YOU WANT TROY VINCENT AND BOBBY TAYLOR LOCKED UP IN MAN COVERAGE DOWN THERE -- AND SEND DAWKINS. HE'S PROBABLY THE BEST PASS RUSHER THEY'VE GOT ON THIS FOOTBALL TEAM. LET HIM GET IN THERE. LET HIM MAKE SOME PLAYS. BECAUSE OFFENSIVELY, I'M NOT SURE THAT THE EAGLES CAN SCORE ENOUGH POINTS TO BEAT TAMPA BAY, SO YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GENERATE SOME POINTS OFF OF YOUR DEFENSE. >> WELL, THIRD AND 6. AND THIS IS USUALLY WHERE THEY LIKE TO BRING PRESSURE. >> AN EXTRA MAN COMING. AND THE PASS IS TIPPED AND INCOMPLETE. TIPPED OFF THE HANDS OF JUREVICIUS. AND THEN IN AND OUT OF THE HANDS OF IKE REESE, WHO'S DISAPPOINTED HE DIDN'T COME AWAY WITH A PICK. >> YEAH, AND YOU'RE GONNA SEE RIGHT HERE. THEY'RE GONNA BRING TROY VINCENT OFF THE CORNER TO BRING THE FOUR WEAK. THEY GOT ONE MORE GUY THAN WHAT THE OFFENSE CAN PROTECT. AND THEY STILL HAD A SHOT. HAD BRAD BEEN ABLE TO GET THE BALL UP, JUREVICIUS HAD A CHANCE TO MAYBE BRING THAT ONE IN FOR A FIRST DOWN. >> THEY WENT WITH THE ZONE-BLITZ DROP, N.D. KALU DROPPING BACK INTO COVERAGE AND MADE THE PLAY. >> BRIAN MITCHELL HAS RETURNED NINE PUNTS FOR TOUCHDOWNS IN HIS CAREER. WAITING DEEP FOR THE PUNT FROM TUPA. ON A LINE. MITCHELL FROM INSIDE THE 30. GETS IT OUT TO THE 44. AND THAT'S WHERE THE EAGLES WILL START WITH IT. THEY'VE CALLED A PENALTY ON THAT PLAY, AND IT'S A HOLD AGAINST PHILADELPHIA. >> IF THIS IS BEFORE THE KICK, IT'D BE A FIRST DOWN. >> DURING THE KICK, HOLDING, RECEIVING TEAM. NUMBER 83. 10-YARD PENALTY. FIRST DOWN. >> SO IT WAS DURING THE KICK. AND JACK GOLDEN WAS THERE APPLAUDING THE CALL BY THE REF. HERE'S RON JAWORSKI WATCHING. PART OF THAT 1980 PHILADELPHIA EAGLE TEAM. SO MANY OF THESE EAGLES STAYED AROUND ON THE FIELD IN ST. LOUIS TO WATCH THE CELEBRATION. SEE HAROLD CARMICHAEL -- STILL PART OF THIS PHILADELPHIA ORGANIZATION -- AS STALEY TRIES THE LEFT SIDE AND HAS A NICE GAIN ON FIRST DOWN. DERRICK BROOKS ON THE TACKLE AFTER A GAIN OF 7. >> WELL, BOTH OF THESE TEAMS HAVE HAD CHANCES IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. TAMPA BAY A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. OF COURSE, PHILADELPHIA LAST SEASON. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES AS A PLAYER YOU'RE GONNA GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY IN A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, TO GO ON AND PLAY IN A SUPER BOWL, AND YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THOSE CHANCES WHEN YOU HAVE THEM. AND RIGHT NOW THE EAGLES, WHO HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING, THEY NEED TO GET SOMETHING GOING. >> BUCCANEERS HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A SUPER BOWL. THE EAGLES HAVE BEEN ONE TIME. THIS IS DUCE STALEY. HE'S BROUGHT DOWN SHORT OF A FIRST DOWN. >> AND I GIVE WARREN SAPP SOME CREDIT FOR CHANGING HIS GAME JUST A LITTLE BIT. WARREN HAD TOLD US -- AND LOOKS LIKE HE'S HURT AGAIN. SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIS HAND. BUT HE HAD TOLD US EARLIER IN THE SEASON, "HEY, GUYS, I'M JUST PLAYING THE RUN ON THE WAY TO THE QUARTERBACK AS I PASS-RUSH." BUT SINCE BOOGER McFARLAND WENT OUT OF THE GAME THREE, FOUR, FIVE WEEKS AGO, HE'S HAD TO BE MUCH MORE OF A RUN STUFFER. SO HE HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET UP THE FIELD QUITE AS MUCH, AND HE'S HAS TO FOCUS MORE ON JUST MAKING SURE THAT RUN GETS STOPPED. >> WENT DOWN DECEMBER 15th. ON I.R. AND WHISTLES BEFORE THE SNAP, AND McNABB IS WONDERING WHY. >> TIME-OUT WAS CALLED PRIOR TO THE SNAP BY TAMPA BAY. >> TODD PINKSTON RIGHT OUT HERE. ABSOLUTELY WIDE OPEN. McNABB SAW IT AND TRIED TO GET HIM THE FOOTBALL. THE BUCCANEERS RECOGNIZED IT AS WELL AND CALLED TIME-OUT, AND THAT TIME-OUT CAME LITERALLY RIGHT AS THE BALL WAS SNAPPED. AND IN LIGHT OF WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE PITTSBURGH PLAY AT THE END OF LAST WEEK, A LOT OF TIMES YOU DON'T GET THAT TIME-OUT. >> A TOSS TO WESTBROOK. RUNNING RIGHT. AND THE ROOKIE IS FORCED OUT OF BOUNDS FOR THE FIRST DOWN. SO A TOSS TO THE SPEEDY WESTBROOK, AND HE GOT JUST ENOUGH FOR A FRESH SET OF DOWNS FOR THE EAGLES. >> WELL, GREG SPIRES, HE TRIED JUST CRAMMING UP INSIDE. HE BLEW UP TWO GUYS. BUT BECAUSE THE BALL WAS COMING OUTSIDE, HE WAS NOT A FACTOR. YOU SEE THERE THE JOB THAT SPIRES DID. BUT THAT ALLOWED WESTBROOK TO GET OUT TO THE OUTSIDE. >> FROM THE 30. DUCE STALEY. ABLE TO STAY ON HIS FEET. FORWARD PROGRESS. THEY GIVE HIM TO THE 35. A GAIN OF 5. SINGLETON ON THE TACKLE. BROOKS... WAS HIS TOUGHEST OF THE TOUGH GUYS THIS YEAR. ON SECOND DOWN. INCOMPLETE, AS DONOVAN McNABB OVERTHREW THRASH. >> AND IT LOOKED LIKE DONOVAN HAD THRASH UP THE SEAM, BUT HE GOT KNOCKED OFF COURSE. JOHN LYNCH. RIGHT THERE JUST GRABBED HIM ENOUGH TO KEEP HIM FROM STAYING UP IN THE SEAM. HE DIDN'T GET THE CALL. BUT YOU WONDER, HAD HE NOT GOT REDIRECTED BY JOHN LYNCH, IF IN FACT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET UP IN THE SEAM AND MAKE A PLAY. >> BUT STILL DONOVAN MISSED THAT ONE BY A GOOD 5, 6 YARDS. REALLY WASN'T TOO CLOSE. >> IT'S THIRD DOWN AND 5. BLITZ COMING FROM THE BUCCANEERS. GUNNED OVER THE MIDDLE AND KNOCKED DOWN BY BARBER. CHAD LEWIS, THE INTENDED RECEIVER. AND RONDE BARBER HAS MADE HIS PRESENCE FELT HERE IN THIS SECOND HALF. >> I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, THAT'S JUST GREAT COVERAGE THERE BY THIS TAMPA DEFENSE. YOU'RE GONNA SEE ANTONIO FREEMAN. AND THEY DO A GREAT JOB OF SWITCHING IT OFF RIGHT THERE. SHELTON QUARLES IS ABLE TO COME UNDERNEATH, COVER HIM. THAT'S WHERE DONOVAN WAS LOOKING INITIALLY. THEN HE COMES BACK INSIDE TO CHAD LEWIS. AND RONDE BARBER ALL OVER HIM. JUST OUTSTANDING COVERAGE BY THIS SECONDARY. AND RONDE HAD IT COVERED ALL THE WAY. I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHY DONOVAN THOUGHT THAT ONE WAS OPEN. IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE. >> PUNT HANGS UP. AND A PENALTY FLAG IS THROWN. TAMPA BAY ENDS UP ON TOP OF THE FOOTBALL, AS RONDE BARBER WAS HIT AS THE BALL WAS COMING INTO HIM. >> YOU GOT TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO AT LEAST CATCH THE BALL. >> AND THEY WILL CALL INTERFERENCE ON SHELDON BROWN. >> INTERFERENCE WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO CATCH THE KICK. KICKING TEAM, NUMBER 39. 15-YARD PENALTY FROM THE SPOT OF THE FOUL. FIRST DOWN. [ CROWD BOOING ] >> THE CROWD DIDN'T LIKE IT WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT. THEY DID NOT LIKE IT EVEN MORE WITH A LOOK AT IT ON THE REPLAY BOARD HERE AT VETERANS STADIUM. A 32-YARD PUNT WITH A 15-YARD PENALTY. ONLY A 17-YARD NET. AND HERE'S THE BALL RESTING OUT ACROSS THE 45-YARD LINE AT THE 48. GOOD FIELD POSITION FOR THE BUCCANEERS, WHO LEAD BY 7. >> ONCE AGAIN THE EAGLES UNABLE TO MOVE THE FOOTBALL IN A KEY SITUATION. AND ANDY'S TRYING TO WORK THE OFFICIALS ON THAT CALL. >> IT IS NOT A REVIEWABLE PLAY. I'M SURE THAT'S WHAT ANDY REID IS BEING TOLD RIGHT NOW. SO THE BALL AT THE 48. THREE THREE-AND-OUTS SO FAR THIS HALF FOR THE BUCS. JOHNSON TO THE SIDELINE. WIDE OPEN IS McCARDELL. MAKES A MOVE AND IS OUT OF BOUNDS WITH A FIRST DOWN. >> AND THIS OFFENSIVE LINE FOR TAMPA BAY HAS REALLY BEEN OUTSTANDING TODAY. ROMAN OBEN AGAINST HUGH DOUGLAS. AND HE JUST LOCKS UP WITH HIM. AND BECAUSE OF THE SIZE ADVANTAGE TO ROMAN OBEN, ONCE HE'S ABLE TO GET HIS HANDS ON HUGH DOUGLAS, HUGH DOUGLAS CAN'T GO ANYWHERE. >> BLITZ COMING FROM THE EAGLES. AND IT'S DUMPED OVER THE MIDDLE, INCOMPLETE. >> BOY, AND THE DIFFERENCE IN THIS SECOND HALF SO FAR FOR THE EAGLES HAS JUST BEEN THE CHANGE IN ATTITUDE. THEY FINALLY ABANDONED THE CONSERVATIVE APPROACH. THEY'VE BEEN BRINGING THE BLITZ. AND BRAD JOHNSON, AS HAPPENED THE FIRST GAME, REALLY HAS BEEN STRUGGLING WITH TRYING TO MAKE PLAYS OUT OF THIS. THEY'RE FALLING AT HIS FEET. SHAWN BARBER'S COMING. N.D. KALU. THEY'RE ALL MEETING AT THE QUARTERBACK. REALLY JUST SURPRISED WE DIDN'T SEE MORE OF IT IN THE FIRST HALF. >> SECOND AND 10. CAUGHT BY PITTMAN. AND AFTER THE CATCH, NOWHERE TO GO. HE IS COLLARED AT THE 35. KIRKLAND AND TAYLOR THERE FOR THE STOP AFTER A GAIN OF 6. >> NICE THING HERE BY JON GRUDEN -- THEY KICK OUT KEN DILGER, THE TIGHT END. THAT PUTS BOBBY TAYLOR, A CORNER, ON HIM. AND THEY HAVE KEYSHAWN JOHNSON IN ON THE SLOT, AND HE THEN IS WORKING AGAINST A LINEBACKER. THEY DO A GOOD JOB OF COVERING HIM. AND THEN THEY GOT PITTMAN WORKING AGAINST LEVON KIRKLAND. ALL THE MATCHUPS WERE THERE. THEY JUST WEREN'T ABLE TO GET MUCH OUT OF THE PLAY. >> THIRD DOWN AND 4. WIDE OPEN IS DILGER. DOWN JUST SHY OF THE 15-YARD LINE WITH ANOTHER TAMPA FIRST DOWN. >> GREAT PLAY CALL THAT TIME BY JON GRUDEN. THEY'RE COMING WITH THE PRESSURE OFF THE CORNER. HE'S JUST GONNA TAKE IT AND DUMP IT RIGHT OVER THE HEAD OF N.D. KALU. AND THE CORNERBACKS ON THIS SIDE -- I BELIEVE IT WAS TROY VINCENT -- THEY JUST TOOK OFF AND RAN DOWN THE FIELD TRYING TO COVER JOE JUREVICIUS. YOU SEE EVERYBODY WITH THEIR BACK TURNED, AND NOBODY PICKED UP DILGER. >> SO MANY TIMES WHEN YOU GOT A GUY IN THE BACKFIELD AND YOU LET HIM COME OUT INTO THE FLAT, THEY THINK HE'S GONNA BLOCK. HE COMES OUT INTO THE FLAT, NOBODY'S THERE TO PICK HIM UP. >> FROM THE 16, IT'S ALSTOTT. TURNED WHAT LOOKED TO BE A PLAY WHERE ALSTOTT WOULD BE BROUGHT DOWN IN THE BACKFIELD INTO A 1-YARD GAIN. >> NOW WE'RE SEEING A COMPLETE ROLE REVERSAL ON THE PART OF THIS EAGLES DEFENSE. THEY'RE BRINGING PRESSURE ALMOST EVERY SINGLE SNAP OF THE BALL. NOW DAWKINS IS COMING OFF THE CORNER. THEY'RE GONNA BRING SHAWN BARBER. EVERYBODY'S COMING UP. THE EFFECT THAT IT'S HAD -- YES, YOU WANT TO GET PRESSURE ON BRAD JOHNSON, BUT THEY'RE ALSO STUFFING THE RUNNING GAME WITH THIS STYLE. >> JIM JOHNSON IS VERY WELL KNOWN FOR ONCE YOU GET INSIDE THE RED ZONE, THAT'S WHEN HE'S GONNA BRING PRESSURE AND TRY TO DISRUPT THE OFFENSE AND ALSO CREATE A TURNOVER. >> SECOND DOWN AND 8. PLAY-ACTION. THERE'S TIME FOR JOHNSON. AND THE PASS IS CAUGHT BY DUDLEY. RICKEY DUDLEY OUT OF BOUNDS SHORT OF A FIRST DOWN. IT'LL BE THIRD DOWN. >> GREAT READ THERE BY BRAD JOHNSON. YOU'VE GOT DARWIN WALKER, WHO'S GONNA END UP IN COVERAGE, RIGHT HERE HAVING TO BACK OUT -- A BIG DEFENSIVE END -- AND TRY AND PICK UP A TIGHT END. THAT'S JUST GONNA BE A MISMATCH. AND BRAD JOHNSON IS REALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE NOW OF SOME OF THE BLITZES. JON GRUDEN DOING A GREAT JOB OF CALLING PLAYS. >> THIRD AND 1. ALSTOTT RUNNING RIGHT. LOST YARDS. AND A BIG STAND FOR THE PHILADELPHIA DEFENSE. TROY VINCENT WAS FIRST THERE. >> THAT'S A GOOD JOB BY THE EAGLE DEFENSE THERE STOPPING MIKE ALSTOTT. BUT MIKE ALSTOTT IS NOT A GUY, IN MY OPINION, WHO YOU HAND THE BALL OFF TO AND HAVE HIM RUN OFF TACKLE. HE'S MUCH BETTER WHEN HE'S ABLE TO RUN STRAIGHT AHEAD, NORTH AND SOUTH, IN AROUND THE GUARD AREA. BUT TROY VINCENT COMING IN THERE OFF THE CORNER, PLAYS IT WELL AND STOPS HIM. >> CARLOS EMMONS DID A GREAT JOB OF TAKING OUT THE TWO LEAD BLOCKERS THERE AND REALLY MADE THE PLAY. >> 27-YARD TRY FOR GRAMATICA, WHO HIT FROM 48 EARLY. SNAP A LITTLE HIGH. IT'S DOWN AND THROUGH. GRAMATICA ENDS UP ON THE TURF, AND NO PENALTY FLAG IS THROWN. BRIAN DAWKINS CAME THROUGH, HIT MARTIN GRAMATICA. BUT THEY DO NOT THROW A FLAG, AND THE BUCCANEERS PICK UP 3 POINTS. >> BOY, I BET YOU BILL COWHER'S SCREAMING RIGHT NOW, SAYING, "IF IT WAS A PENALTY ON US, WHY ISN'T IT A PENALTY ON THEM?" >> WELL, IF MARTIN GRAMATICA LOOKS LIKE ROBERTO BENIGNI, HE CAN'T ACT LIKE HIM. AND HE'S CERTAINLY NOT AS GOOD AN ACTOR AS JOE NEDNEY. BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. HE TRIED. BUT DAWKINS WAS THERE FOR A LITTLE HUG AT THE END. >> IN FACT, DAWKINS GRABBED HIM AND HELD HIM AND JUST TRIED TO KEEP HIM OFF THE GROUND. GRAMATICA WANTED OUT OF HIS ARMS SO HE COULD ROLL AROUND A LITTLE BIT. >> SO A 27-YARD FIELD GOAL HIT BY GRAMATICA. WAS WORTH A TRY. HE'S 2 FOR 2. AND IT'S A 10-POINT TAMPA BAY LEAD. PUFFY EYE AND ALL, WARREN SAPP'S REACTION. HE'S SAYING TO THE OFFICIAL, "YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE FIELD GOAL, OUR KICKER ENDS UP ON THE TURF." BUT I THINK WE WOULD ALL AGREE THAT THAT WAS A GOOD NO-CALL. >> HE IS SO ENTERTAINING TO TALK WITH. AND HE TALKS TO EVERYBODY. I REMEMBER WE ASKED HIM, "ARE YOU GOING TO SPY ON DONOVAN McNABB?" AND HE WAS LIKE, "SPY? SPY WHO? WHY YOU WANT TO SPY? SOMEBODY GONNA GET A FREE PAYCHECK AROUND HERE? YOU GOT TO RUSH, YOU GOT TO COVER, YOU GOT TO DO SOMETHING!" HIS EYES WERE BUGGING OUT. HE WAS FIRED UP THE DAY BEFORE. >> SO WITH A 10-POINT LEAD, TAMPA BAY WILL KICK IT BACK TO PHILADELPHIA. 1:02 REMAINING, THIRD QUARTER. ANOTHER SQUIB KICK. >> AND A HIKE. >> BIG HIT DOWNFIELD. DAMEANE DOUGLAS COMES UP WITH IT ON THE RETURN. FROM THEIR OWN 28. DOWN BY 10. DUMPED OFF AND TOO HIGH, AS THAT BALL TOOK OFF. AND OFF THE HANDS OF WESTBROOK. >> WELL, AND THAT'S THE SECOND OR THIRD TIME WE'VE SEEN THAT HAPPEN NOW WITH DONOVAN McNABB. NOT THAT ANY OF THEM WOULD HAVE BEEN BIG PLAYS, BUT AGAIN, TO GO BACK TO WHAT I SAID EARLIER, WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING AGAINST A GREAT DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL TEAM, YOU'VE GOT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE COMPLETIONS ON FIRST DOWN TO STAY AHEAD OF THE CHAINS. RIGHT THERE IF YOU GET THE BALL TO BRIAN WESTBROOK, HE'S GONNA GET AT LEAST 4 OR 5 YARDS. IF HE MAKES ONE GUY MISS, HE'S GONNA GET MORE. BUT YOU'VE GOT TO GET THE BALL IN HIS HANDS WITH A CHANCE TO RUN. >> AND WESTBROOK HESITATED JUST A LITTLE BIT, MAYBE THINKING HE WAS SUPPOSED TO GEAR THAT ONE DOWN. >> SECOND DOWN AND 10. THEY RUN IT WITH LEVENS, WHO GOES NOWHERE. AND IT'S WARREN SAPP IN ON THE STOP. >> THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS, JOE. YOU GO INCOMPLETE ON FIRST DOWN, THEN THE TENDENCY AS A PLAY CALLER IS TO COME BACK ON SECOND DOWN, TRY TO PICK UP SOME YARDS SO YOU CAN GET IT INTO THIRD-AND-MANAGEABLE SITUATIONS. THE DEFENSE KNOWS THAT. MONTE KIFFIN KNOWS THAT. THEY STACK THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. NOW YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIRD AND 10. >> LET'S GO BACK TO THE GIANTS GAME WE DID, THE LAST GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON, WHICH THEY THOUGHT WAS FOR HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE -- SCORE A TOUCHDOWN ON THE OPENING DRIVE OF THAT GAME, GET NOTHING THE REST OF THE DAY. AND IT'S BEEN THE EXACT SAME STORY HERE IN THIS ONE. THIRD AND 10. McNABB IS FLUSHED. THROWS. AND IT'S INCOMPLETE. THE CROWD WANTS A FLAG. THEY WON'T GET IT. >> BOY, RONDE -- >> ANTONIO FREEMAN, THE INTENDED RECEIVER. >> EXCUSE ME, JOE. RONDE BARBER IS JUST ALL OVER THE FIELD. I REMEMBER TALKING WITH JIMMY JOHNSON ONE TIME ABOUT PLAYING COVER 2 AND HOW YOU DO IT. HE SAID YOU PUT YOUR BEST ATHLETE ON THE INSIDE PART OF THAT COVERAGE AND YOU ALLOW HIM TO MAKE PLAYS BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE PEOPLE TRY TO PICK UP FIRST DOWNS. RONDE BARBER HAS JUST BEEN ALL OVER THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD. >> I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, THOUGH, CRIS -- IF DONOVAN McNABB THROWS THAT BALL TO THE INSIDE, WHICH IS WHERE ANTONIO FREEMAN WAS WORKING, I THINK IT GETS THE COMPLETION AND A FIRST DOWN. >> GOOD PUNT BY LEE JOHNSON. INTO THE WIND. AND IT'S KARL WILLIAMS WITH A SPIN AND OUT OF BOUNDS. JUST SHY OF THE 40. >> PUT 15 MINUTES ON THE CLOCK, AND WE'LL PLAY ONE MORE QUARTER TO DECIDE WHO ENDS UP IN THE SUPER BOWL REPRESENTING THE NFC. THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, THEIR RECENT HISTORY HERE AT VETERANS STADIUM -- TERRIBLE. MUCH DIFFERENT TODAY. 280 YARDS OF TOTAL OFFENSE. THEY'VE ADDED 3 POINTS TO THEIR LEAD HERE IN THE SECOND HALF. AND THE CATCH IS MADE BY McCARDELL. A GAIN OF 8 ON THE PLAY. >> AND I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE JOB JON GRUDEN'S DONE CALLING PLAYS. RIGHT THERE THEY COME IN WITH A BUNCH SET, WHICH, BY DOING THAT, IF THE EAGLES HAD ANY THOUGHTS OF BRINGING THE BLITZ, THEY WERE GONNA HAVE TO BRING THE BLITZ FROM WIDER OUT ON THE EDGES, AND THEN THEY'RE STILL ABLE TO SET UP IN THERE AND THROW THE FOOTBALL. BUT JON GRUDEN'S DONE A MASTERFUL JOB SO FAR IN THIS GAME KEEPING THIS DEFENSE OFF-BALANCE. >> SIX ROAD PLAYOFF GAMES IN FRANCHISE HISTORY, AND THE BUCS HAVE NOT PUT UP ANY POINTS ON THE BOARD, AS THEY GET A FIRST DOWN WITH MICHAEL PITTMAN RUNNING RIGHT UP OVER THE RIGHT SIDE. >> AND TROY, LET ME ASK THIS QUESTION, AS A QUARTERBACK -- IN THE FIRST HALF, WE SAW ALMOST NO BLITZES ON THE PART OF THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, AND JON GRUDEN ABLE TO CALL THE PLAYS BASED ON THAT. HERE IN THE SECOND HALF, WE'VE SEEN ALMOST ALL BLITZES BY THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, AND I THINK JON GRUDEN'S CALLED THE APPROPRIATE PLAYS. IT'S BEEN A LITTLE PREDICTABLE. >> I THINK JON GRUDEN IS OUTSTANDING AT ANTICIPATING AND RECOGNIZING WHAT DEFENSES ARE TRYING TO DO AGAINST HIM AND HAVING ANSWERS FOR IT. >> SHOWING BLITZ AGAIN, AND IT'S BISHOP ON THE BLITZ. AND ALSTOTT ON FIRST DOWN PICKS UP NOTHING. YOU KNOW, WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THE PACKAGE THAT WAS SENT TO OAKLAND TO SIGN GRUDEN -- TWO FIRST-ROUND DRAFT PICKS, TWO SECOND-ROUND PICKS, $8 MILLION JUST FOR THE RIGHT TO SIGN JON GRUDEN TO A $15 MILLION CONTRACT. AND IF THE BUCS WIN THIS GAME, IT'LL BE WORTH EVERY BIT OF IT FOR THIS FRANCHISE. >> IT'LL BE WORTH IT IF THEY GO ON AND WIN ONE MORE AFTER THAT. AND JON GRUDEN WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO TELL YOU THAT HE WAS BROUGHT HERE TO WIN A SUPER BOWL. AND THAT'S WHAT EVERY COACH IS BROUGHT IN TO DO, BUT THIS IS A HECK OF A START RIGHT HERE. >> SECOND DOWN AND 10. JUREVICIUS UNDERTHROWN. IT'LL BE THIRD AND 10. >> JOE, I'M GONNA AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT ONE. I THINK IF THEY COME OUT OF HERE WITH A WIN, THAT IS ONE OF THE GREAT BARGAINS OF ALL TIME. AND I CAN REMEMBER EVERYBODY DEBATING TO START THIS SEASON, "IS ANY COACH IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL EVER WORTH TWO NUMBER ONES, TWO NUMBER TWOS, AND $8 MILLION?" AND THE GENERAL CONSENSUS WAS NO. >> I WAS NOT ONE OF THAT CONSENSUS, BECAUSE I BELIEVED ALL ALONG COACHES MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS LEAGUE. IF YOU FIND THE GUY YOU THINK IS THE GUY FOR YOUR PROGRAM, YOU'VE GOT TO GO GET HIM. >> THE EAGLES NEED A STAND ON THIRD AND 10. ANOTHER BLITZ. PRESSURE. JOHNSON GETS RID OF IT. KEYSHAWN JOHNSON OVERTHROWN. BOBBY TAYLOR, THE CORNERBACK, CAME ON A BLITZ. AND AL HARRIS WAS DOWNFIELD COVERING KEYSHAWN JOHNSON. >> AND THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT UP HERE. THE STRENGTH OF THIS FOOTBALL TEAM. NOT ONLY DO YOU HAVE THREE PRO BOWLERS IN THE SECONDARY, I THINK YOU HAVE THE BEST NICKEL BACK IN THE NFL AS WELL IN AL HARRIS. AND THAT TIME, AL HARRIS JUST ALL OVER KEYSHAWN JOHNSON. WHEN YOU HAVE THAT KIND OF CORNER PLAY AND NOT REALLY SPEED RECEIVERS ON THE OUTSIDE, GO AHEAD AND ROLL THE DICE. >> TUPA. INTO THE END ZONE. >> WELL, WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR DONOVAN McNABB WITH THE EAGLES TRAILING BY 10 POINTS. FOURTH QUARTER AND A TRIP TO THE SUPER BOWL AT STAKE. PINKSTON. FIRST DOWN. AND HE GETS AN EXTRA SHOVE OUT OF BOUNDS, BUT NO FLAG. FIRST CATCH OF THE DAY FOR TODD PINKSTON. >> AND STILL PLENTY OF TIME FOR DONOVAN McNABB. YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE TO GET AWAY FROM YOUR GAME PLAN AT THIS POINT, BUT YOU NEED TO BEGIN TO PIECE SOME THINGS TOGETHER. NICE PLAY CALL ON FIRST DOWN. THEY'VE BEEN DROPPING JOHN LYNCH DOWN TO TRY AND HELP AGAINST THE RUN. THE SLANT -- THE PERFECT CALL. THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WHEN THEY GET THOSE CORNERS BACKED OFF. >> McNABB WITH PLENTY OF TIME. LEWIS WIDE OPEN. PENALTY FLAG ON THE PLAY. THEY'RE GONNA CALL AN OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE AGAINST THE EAGLES. >> IT LOOKED LIKE THEY GOT CHAD LEWIS PUSHING OFF ON RONDE BARBER. >> PASS INTERFERENCE. OFFENSE. NUMBER 89. 10-YARD PENALTY. FIRST DOWN. >> YOU'RE GONNA SEE 20, RONDE BARBER, IS GOING TO BE LOCKED UP HERE WITH CHAD LEWIS. RIGHT THERE IS WHEN HE PUSHES AND GETS SEPARATION. COMES BACK INSIDE. IT WASN'T MUCH. BUT ONCE YOU EXTEND YOUR HANDS, THEY'RE GONNA CALL THAT. YOU CANNOT EXTEND YOUR HANDS TO GET SEPARATION AS A RECEIVER. >> WOW. I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, THEN. I'D HAVE NEVER PLAYED A DOWN IF YOU COULDN'T DO THAT. >> I'LL TELL YOU WHERE THEY CAME UP WITH IT. MICHAEL IRVIN, MY TEAMMATE, USED TO DO IT ALL THE TIME. THEY FINALLY CAME DOWN WITH THAT RULE. ONCE THE ARMS ARE EXTENDED, IT'S PASS INTERFERENCE. >> THAT MAKES IT FIRST DOWN AND 20 AND ERASES A 22-YARD COMPLETION. McNABB'S GONNA HAVE TO RUN. AND A MINIMAL GAIN, AS HE'S FORCED OUT BY SINGLETON. >> MUCH BETTER JOB THAT TIME BY THE BUCS ON DEFENSE. INSTEAD OF RUNNING UP AND WORRYING ABOUT McNABB IN THAT SECOND-DOWN-AND-LONG SITUATION, THEY SIMPLY LET HIM GET OUT OF THE POCKET, CROSS THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, USE THE GREAT SPEED THEY HAVE ON THE OUTSIDE, KNOCK HIM OUT OF BOUNDS. THEY DIDN'T LET ANYBODY GET IN BEHIND THEM. >> AND WHAT A CRITICAL PENALTY THAT WAS ON CHAD LEWIS. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A FIRST DOWN. BACKS THEM ALL THE WAY UP. >> FROM THE 29. McNABB. THAT PASS WAS DEFLECTED. TRYING TO GET IT TO LEVENS. PRESSURE ON THE PLAY BY SAPP. >> I JUST HAVE TO GO BACK FOR ONE SECOND TO THAT PLAY. AND WHAT I SAW WAS RONDE BARBER MOVING AWAY FROM THE PUSH. YES, MAYBE THE ARMS WERE EXTENDED ON THAT PLAY. BUT I'M NOT SURE THAT THE CONTACT, IF THERE WAS MUCH OF ANY CONTACT, HAD ANY IMPACT WHATSOEVER ON BARBER. >> YEAH, BUT, CRIS, ONCE THEY EXTEND THE ARMS -- AND I AGREE. THERE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN MUCH OF A CONTACT ON IT, BUT ONCE THE ARMS ARE EXTENDED, THEY'RE GONNA GET THAT CALL AGAINST THEM EVERY SINGLE TIME. >> IT'S THIRD DOWN AND 15. McNABB. STILL ON HIS FEET. UNLOADS. PENALTY FLAG ON THE PLAY, AS PINKSTON TRIES TO DIVE FOR A FIRST DOWN. >> YOU GOT JOHN WELBOURN WELL DOWN THE FIELD. THE OFFENSIVE GUARD. AT LEAST 10 YARDS DOWN THE FIELD, SO THIS ONE'S COMING BACK. >> AND THAT'S WHAT GETS HARD ON THESE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN WHEN THEIR QUARTERBACK STARTS SCRAMBLING AROUND. THEY'RE NOT FOR CERTAIN WHETHER HE'S GONNA THROW IT. >> INELIGIBLE RECEIVER DOWNFIELD. OFFENSE. NUMBER 76. 5-YARD PENALTY. THIRD DOWN. >> THEY'RE NOT CERTAIN WHETHER OR NOT DONOVAN McNABB IS GONNA THROW IT OR RUN. AND YOU SEE RIGHT HERE. JOHN WELBOURN. HE'S THINKING McNABB IS GONNA TAKE OFF RUNNING. CLEARLY DOWNFIELD. >> TROY, REALLY THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR THAT, THOUGH. HE'S BEEN PLAYING WITH DONOVAN McNABB LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT HE'S GONNA SCRAMBLE AROUND, KEEP HIS HEAD UP, AND TRY AND COMPLETE A PASS. ESPECIALLY IN THAT LONG-YARDAGE SITUATION. >> BALL IS MARKED ALL THE WAY BACK AT THE 24. ON A DRIVE THAT STARTED AT THE 20. GOT INTO TAMPA BAY TERRITORY ONLY TO BE CALLED BACK BECAUSE OF AN OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE ON CHAD LEWIS. McNABB WITH SIMEON RICE UP HIS BACK. PASS INCOMPLETE. AND THERE ARE NO FLAGS, EVEN THOUGH LEVENS IS PLEADING WITH THE OFFICIAL THAT HE WAS DRAGGED DOWN. >> AND IT WAS BARBER WHO DRUG HIM DOWN. IT LOOKED LIKE IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BE CALLED. THEY READ THE SCREEN RIGHT AWAY. RONDE BARBER THERE IN POSITION AND YANKED DORSEY LEVENS TO THE GROUND PRIOR TO THE BALL GETTING THERE, IT APPEARED. WELL, MAYBE THEY REVIEWED IT AS AN UNCATCHABLE BALL. IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THE PLAY ANYWAY. >> I THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD NO-CALL. >> JOHNSON. LINE-DRIVE PUNT. TAKES A GOOD PHILADELPHIA BOUNCE. AND IT'S KARL WILLIAMS. >> THE SCORE AT THE TOP. THE GAME SUMMARY AT THE BOTTOM. BRAD JOHNSON HAS THROWN ONE INTERCEPTION. ONE TOUCHDOWN THROW TO KEYSHAWN JOHNSON, WHO HAD TWO CATCHES ON A LONG 80-YARD DRIVE IN THE FIRST HALF. AND STALEY HAS BEEN HELD TO ONLY 51 YARDS. HE DOES HAVE A TOUCHDOWN. BUT RUSHED FOR OVER 150 THE FIRST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET BACK IN OCTOBER. ALSTOTT. NOT MUCH, AS HE TRIED THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. BACK TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. I'M NOT GONNA SAY IT'S SHOCKING. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT WHAT THE TAMPA BAY DEFENSE HAS DONE -- YOU CAN'T TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED, BUT YOU KNOW THAT THE DEFENSE IS GONNA SHOW UP. AND IT REALLY HAS BEEN A MUCH IMPROVED OFFENSE WE'VE SEEN FROM THE BUCCANEERS TODAY. >> I THOUGHT THE PLAY THAT REALLY TURNED THIS WHOLE GAME AROUND WAS JOE JUREVICIUS' PLAY. THEY WERE BACKED UP. IT LOOKED LIKE THE MOMENTUM WAS STILL ON PHILADELPHIA'S SIDE. HE CATCHES THAT BALL, GOES THE DISTANCE, AND THE GAME COMPLETELY TURNED AROUND. >> I THINK YOU LOOK RIGHT NOW. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW FOR PHILADELPHIA TO DO SOMETHING ON DEFENSE, BECAUSE THEY'RE STARTING TO RUN OUT OF TIME. IT'S A TWO-POSSESSION GAME. >> ON SECOND DOWN AND 10. THE CATCH BY DILGER. HE IS SPUN AROUND. DEPENDS ON THE SPOT AS TO WHETHER IT'S A FIRST DOWN OR NOT. HERE IS THAT PLAY. 71-YARD RECEPTION. JOE JUREVICIUS. >> I THINK THAT'S THE PLAY RIGHT THERE THAT GAVE THIS TAMPA OFFENSE CONFIDENCE THAT THEY WERE GONNA BE ABLE TO MOVE THE BALL SUCCESSFULLY AGAINST THIS DEFENSE. IT WAS ONE PLAY. BUT YOU'D BE SURPRISED HOW ONE PLAY LIKE THAT WILL IGNITE AN OFFENSE AND GIVE YOU CONFIDENCE. >> RIGHT NOW, PHILADELPHIA'S DEFENSE NEEDS ONE PLAY. IT'S THIRD DOWN AND SHORT, AND IF TAMPA PICKS UP THIS FIRST DOWN, THEY CAN RUN ANOTHER COUPLE MINUTES OFF THE CLOCK. >> THEY GOT THE A-TRAIN AT TAILBACK. >> BLITZ COMING FROM THE EAGLES. AND ALSTOTT DIVES FORWARD FOR A FIRST DOWN. >> HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY AND TAKE THAT ON? THE A-TRAIN JUMPING OFF THE TRACKS AND OVER THE TOP. IT'S AMAZING JUST HOW ATHLETIC THIS GUY IS FOR AS BIG AS HE IS. BUT THERE WAS NO WAY HE WAS GONNA BE DENIED ON THIS ONE. RIGHT OVER THE TOP. "HIT ME IF YOU WANT. THAT FIRST DOWN IS MINE." >> AND ALSTOTT IS SUCH A GUY THAT THEY NEVER REALLY KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO USE HIM. HE'S NOT REALLY MUCH OF A RECEIVER. HE'S NOT REALLY A TAILBACK. HE'S NOT REALLY A FULLBACK. BUT I DO KNOW THIS -- ON THIRD-AND-SHORT SITUATIONS, GOAL-LINE SITUATIONS, HE'S THAT PERFECT GUY FOR GETTING THE FOOTBALL THEN. >> FIRST DOWN FROM THE 45. AND HERE'S ALSTOTT. GOT HALF A YARD. >> RIGHT NOW, TAMPA BAY JUST LOOKING TO TRY TO TAKE SOME TIME OFF THE CLOCK. YOU GOT TO BE CAREFUL, IN AN ATTEMPT ONLY TO TAKE TIME OFF THE CLOCK AND GET CONSERVATIVE, THAT YOU'RE GIVING THE BALL BACK TO PHILADELPHIA. I THINK YOU'VE STILL GOT TO PLAY YOUR OFFENSE. YOU'VE GOT TO DO WHAT YOU'VE BEEN DOING. THROW THE FOOTBALL AND STAY SOMEWHAT AGGRESSIVE. >> BUT YOU DO HAVE THE NUMBER-ONE DEFENSE IN ALL OF FOOTBALL. YOU HAVE AN EAGLES OFFENSE THAT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING ALL DAY LONG. AND EVEN IF YOU JUST RUN IT TWO MORE TIMES AND PUNT, YOU'RE PROBABLY GONNA BACK THEM UP SOMEWHERE INSIDE THE 20. >> PLAY CLOCK IS DOWN TO 3. JUST GOT IT AWAY. ALSTOTT ON A TOSS. BACK TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. THAT'S ALL. IT WILL BE THIRD AND LONG FOR TAMPA BAY. >> AND BRAD JOHNSON, A VETERAN QUARTERBACK AND UNDERSTANDING THE SITUATION, RUNNING THE PLAY CLOCK DOWN AS FAR AS HE CAN BEFORE SNAPPING THE FOOTBALL AND TRYING TO TAKE AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE OFF THE CLOCK. AND NOW, ESPECIALLY THIRD AND 9 HERE, I WOULDN'T THINK -- IF IT'S NOT A SCREEN, I WOULD EXPECT THAT TAMPA BAY WILL RUN THE BALL HERE AGAIN. >> ALSTOTT NOT IN THE LINEUP. BLITZ. AND A LITTLE TOSS TO PITTMAN. SHY OF A FIRST DOWN AND TIME FOR THE BUCCANEERS TO PUNT. GAIN OF 5. >> GOOD CALL, MR. QUARTERBACK. IT WASN'T A SCREEN, BUT IT WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF IT. ABOUT AS SAFE A PASS AS YOU COULD POSSIBLY THROW. AND NOW THEY BRING OUT THE PUNTER AND SAY, "OKAY, WARREN SAPP, DERRICK BROOKS. YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WANTING THIS OPPORTUNITY. I'M PUTTING THE GAME RIGHT ON YOUR SHOULDERS." >> THE ONLY THING JON GRUDEN IS HOPING FOR HERE IS THAT HE DOESN'T PUNT THIS ONE FOR 6 YARDS. TRY TO GET THIS ONE DOWN INSIDE THE 20-YARD LINE AND MAKE PHILADELPHIA GO THE LENGTH OF THE FIELD. >> HE KICKS IT TO MITCHELL, I'M GONNA BE SHOCKED. I'M SHOCKED. >> MITCHELL WILL GET A CHANCE. GOOD COVERAGE DOWNFIELD THIS TIME BY THE BUCCANEERS. >> AFTER A 70-YARD RETURN BY BRIAN MITCHELL ON THAT OPENING KICKOFF, JUST A TWO-PLAY DRIVE. >> YEAH. THAT FIRST POSSESSION WAS NOTHING. THEY REALLY HAVEN'T DONE MUCH OF ANYTHING THAT WASN'T SET UP BY SPECIAL TEAMS. >> McNABB SETS UP AND FIRES. PINKSTON DRAGGED DOWN FROM BEHIND AS HE CROSSED THE 40. >> SEE IF THEY GO TO THEIR HURRY-UP MODE NOW TO TRY AND GENERATE A LITTLE LIFE IN THIS OFFENSE. THEY'VE BEEN DEAD ALL DAY. >> THAT'S ONE OF THE FIRST TIMES I'VE SEEN DONOVAN McNABB REALLY STEP UP IN THE POCKET AND KNOW WHERE HE'S THROWING THE FOOTBALL. DELIVERED A STRIKE. >> 24-YARD STRIKE TO PINKSTON. THE HAND-OFF TO STALEY. DUCE DOESN'T WANT TO GO DOWN. AND A GAIN OF 5. >> AND AS I SAID EARLIER, YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MANY OPPORTUNITIES YOU'RE GONNA GET IN A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL. YOU COULD MAKE THE ARGUMENT THAT THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT DRIVE THAT DONOVAN McNABB WILL HAVE IN HIS CAREER. >> ON SECOND DOWN, HE FINDS LEWIS, WHO HAS A FIRST DOWN. >> NOW WE'RE SEEING THE EAGLES DO THE SAME EXACT THING THE BUCS DID TO START THIS FOOTBALL GAME AND JUMP-START THEM. IN THE NO-HUDDLE. NOW YOU'RE SEEING A VERY BASE DEFENSE OUT OF TAMPA. >> I THINK WHAT YOU'RE SEEING IS A TEAM IN PHILADELPHIA THAT REALIZES THE URGENCY. >> STALEY RUNNING LEFT. WELL PLAYED BY RONDE BARBER, WHO IF HE'S NOT BREAKING UP A PASS OR COMING ON A BLITZ, MAKES A GOOD, SOLID OPEN-FIELD TACKLE ON A RUN. >> THAT'S A GREAT POINT, JOE. RONDE BARBER, WHO'S BEEN MAKING PLAYS ALL DAY LONG IN PASS COVERAGE, IS ALSO AN OUTSTANDING TACKLER. AND YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO BE IN THIS SITUATION NOW. >> SECOND DOWN AND 9. RICE WITH LATE PRESSURE. AND OFF THE ARMS OF PINKSTON. >> AND WE TALKED ABOUT THE DROPS THAT THEY HAD LAST WEEK AGAINST ATLANTA. YOU CANNOT AFFORD, IN A GAME LIKE THIS, IN THIS SITUATION ON THIS DRIVE, TO NOT MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR OPPORTUNITIES. PINKSTON HAS GOT TO MAKE THAT PLAY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A FIRST DOWN. NOW THEY'RE SITTING HERE LOOKING AT THIRD AND LONG. >> YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. WOW. >> THIRD DOWN AND 9. McNABB FINDS LEWIS. AND THE TIGHT END HAS A FIRST DOWN. >> THAT'S A GREAT JOB BY DONOVAN McNABB. JUST SLIDING TO HIS LEFT JUST ENOUGH TO GIVE HIM SOME ROOM. CHAD LEWIS FINDING THE HOLE IN THE VOID. >> THE ONLY THING IS, THEY'RE GETTING NO PRESSURE OUT OF THIS NO-HUDDLE. HERE COMES THE BLITZ. >> AND A QUICK THROW AND COMPLETION. DOWN INSIDE THE 25. IT WAS ANTONIO FREEMAN. >> WE TALK ABOUT IT SO MUCH, THOUGH. THOSE BIG GUYS AT THE END OF A FOOTBALL GAME, THEY'RE JUST TIRED. THEN YOU PUT THEM IN A NO-HUDDLE SITUATION. THEY END UP EVEN MORE EXHAUSTED, AND THEY START JUST LEANING ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE AND NOT GETTING THE PASS RUSH THAT THEY WERE GETTING EARLIER. >> AND YOU CAN SEE HOW TIRED THEY ARE, CRIS. >> SECOND DOWN AND 7. McNABB. SOMEHOW GETS OUT OF THE GRASP OF SAPP. GETS RID OF IT AND FINDS HIS MAN. ANTONIO FREEMAN WITH A FIRST DOWN. >> SOMEBODY CUE JOHN FACENDA. THAT WAS INCREDIBLE. >> THAT'S A GREAT JOB BY DONOVAN McNABB MAKING SOMETHING HAPPEN. YOU CANNOT TAKE A SACK IN THIS SITUATION. HE GETS LEVELED JUST AS SOON AS HE UNLOADS THIS BY GREG SPIRES. GREAT JOB BY DONOVAN McNABB. >> IT'S FIRST AND GOAL. THAT'S PICKED OFF! THAT'S PICKED OFF. AND WHO ELSE? RONDE BARBER. ALL THE WAY, UNTOUCHED, DOWN THE FIELD. AND THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS MAY RIDE TO THE SUPER BOWL WITH THAT ONE. >> I'LL TELL YOU WHAT. THERE'S A LOOK AT TODD PINKSTON RIGHT THERE. AND I DON'T CARE. IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE HE COULD CATCH RONDE BARBER. BUT YOU DON'T STOP AND NOT KEEP RUNNING ON THE PLAY. RONDE BARBER STEPPING IN FRONT OF THE BALL. MAKING THE INTERCEPTION, GOING THE LENGTH, PUTTING THIS BALLGAME AWAY. >> I'VE SEEN SOME GREAT DEFENSIVE EFFORTS IN CHAMPIONSHIP-TYPE FOOTBALL GAMES BEFORE. BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYBODY PLAY BETTER THAN RONDE BARBER HAS TODAY. HE IS ANTICIPATING. HE'S READING ROUTES. HE'S READING DONOVAN'S EYES. HE'S THE GUY IN THERE ON THOSE INSIDE RECEIVERS, AND HE HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE ALL DAY LONG FOR DONOVAN McNABB AND THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. >> ONLY 3:12 REMAINING. >> MARTIN GRAMATICA READY TO KICK IT AWAY BACK TO THE EAGLES, WHO HAVE JUST BEEN DEFLATED BY AN INTERCEPTION AND A 92-YARD RETURN FOR A TOUCHDOWN BY RONDE BARBER. TALK ABOUT MAKING AN IMPACT. IN THIS SECOND HALF, RONDE BARBER HAS BEEN ALL OVER THE PLACE. >> OF COURSE, LET'S NOT FORGET THE INTERCEPTION HE HAD LAST WEEK AGAINST SAN FRANCISCO IN THAT ONE. >> SQUIB KICK. OFF THE LEGS OF WESTBROOK. THIS IS MITCHELL, WHO LATERALS THE BALL. DOESN'T GET MUCH OUT OF IT, AS JAMES THRASH COMES DOWN WITH IT AND IS FORCED OUT OF BOUNDS AT THE 40. >> I WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW SMART RONDE BARBER IS. HE'S GONNA FAKE THE BLITZ AND THEN COME BACK AND JUMP UNDERNEATH THE HOT ROUTE. THE RECEIVER READS IT HOT. HE THINKS BARBER IS GOING TO BLITZ. SO DID McNABB. AND THEN HE'S GONNA DUMP IT BACK OUT TO THE HOT RECEIVER, ANTONIO FREEMAN. AND BARBER JUST JUMPS RIGHT UNDERNEATH IT. AND HELLO, SUPER BOWL, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER FOR THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. >> SO THE BALL AT THE 40. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WITH ALL THREE OF THEIR TIME-OUTS REMAINING. NOW TRAILING BY 17 POINTS. McNABB. BUYS TIME. FINDS PINKSTON. TODD PINKSTON HAS A FIRST DOWN. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FRANCHISE HISTORY, THE EAGLES FOR THE SEASON WERE OVER 400 TOTAL POINTS. BUT THEIR OFFENSE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN TODAY BY THIS NUMBER-ONE-RANKED TAMPA BAY BUCCANEER DEFENSE. OVER THE MIDDLE. IT'S STALEY. DUCE STALEY WITH A CATCH, AND HE FIGHTS FOR A FIRST DOWN. RONDE BARBER ON THE STOP. >> AND WARREN SAPP AND THIS ENTIRE TAMPA BAY TEAM HAS BEEN TELLING US ALL WEEK THAT THIS IS A DIFFERENT GROUP, IT'S A MUCH BETTER TEAM THAN WHAT THEY'VE BEEN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. AND TEAMS THAT HAVE COME IN AND GOTTEN BEAT, NOBODY'S WANTED TO BELIEVE THEM. BUT THEY'VE SHOWN IT TODAY. >> McNABB BACKING UP AS HE LETS IT GO. AND IT'S UNDERTHROWN. LOOKING FOR STALEY. NOW THEY UNLOAD TO BRING GRUDEN HERE. THE OFFENSE HAS BEEN MAKING STEADY PROGRESS THIS SEASON. THEY ARE MINUTES AWAY FROM AN OFFICIAL TRIP TO THE SUPER BOWL. >> THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS' SEASON CAME TO AN END THE LAST TWO YEARS HERE AT THE VET, LOSING TO THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, NOT ABLE TO SCORE AN OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN. DIFFERENT STORY TODAY, AS McNABB FIRES HIGH TO PINKSTON. OVERALL, THE EAGLES HAD DEFEATED THE BUCCANEERS FOUR IN A ROW. BUT IT'S THE BUCS TODAY, WITH 1:55 REMAINING AND A 17-POINT LEAD. AND THEY'RE ALREADY HANDING OUT THE CONFERENCE CHAMPION HATS DOWN ON THE TAMPA BAY SIDELINE. >> AND THAT'S WHAT EVERY PLAYER PLAYS FOR. AND I WISH EVERY PLAYER WHO'S EVER PLAYED IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE COULD EXPERIENCE WHAT IT'S LIKE ONCE YOU REALIZE YOU'RE ON YOUR WAY TO THE SUPER BOWL. I'M NOT EVEN SURE IT'S GONNA SINK IN WITH THIS FOOTBALL TEAM UNTIL THEY GET ON THE PLANE TOMORROW AND THEY HEAD TO SAN DIEGO AND GET OFF. AND THEN THEY'LL KNOW HOW SPECIAL THIS GAME HAS BEEN AND THAT THEY ARE IN FACT GONNA BE PLAYING IN THE SUPER BOWL. >> THIS IS FOURTH DOWN. THAT'S INCOMPLETE. AND THE BUCCANEERS WILL TAKE OVER. GREG SPIRES WITH PRESSURE ON THE PLAY. AND IT'S TIME FOR THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS TO KILL THE CLOCK. >> AND RIGHT THERE IS THE GUY THAT I THINK HAS THE BUCCANEERS IN POSITION TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, HE JUST GOT ON FIRE. AND FROM NOVEMBER 1 ON, SOMETHING LIKE 17 TOUCHDOWN PASSES, TWO INTERCEPTIONS. THE GUY HAS BOUNCED AROUND THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE. AND A LITTLE BIT LIKE RICH GANNON OUT IN OAKLAND WHEN HE GOT A CHANCE TO PLAY WITH JON GRUDEN FOR THE FIRST TIME. A VETERAN GUY PROBABLY NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE PAID THAT MUCH ATTENTION TO. AND NOW HERE, IN JUST ONE FULL YEAR UNDER JON GRUDEN'S OFFENSE, THIS GUY HAS TRULY BECOME AN MVP-TYPE CANDIDATE. >> HOW ABOUT BRAD JOHNSON WITH THE NFC CHAMPION HAT TUCKED INTO HIS PANTS, AS HE TAKES A KNEE? >> I KNOW THIS. THROUGHOUT THE SEASON THIS YEAR, THEY'VE BEEN WANTING TO TALK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS THAT BRAD JOHNSON CANNOT DO. NOW THEY'RE GONNA FINALLY TALK ABOUT WHAT HE CAN DO. >> UH-OH. [ LAUGHS ] UH-OH. >> THEY GOT HIM. HE'S STILL CALLING PLAYS. >> HE'S STILL TRYING TO CALL PLAYS. THAT'S A GREAT FEELING FOR HIM, GETTING DUMPED WITH AN ICE BUCKET. NO MATTER HOW COLD IT IS, HE KNOWS HE'S ON HIS WAY TO SAN DIEGO. BUT TO GO BACK TO BRAD JOHNSON, BRAD JOHNSON HAS BEEN TELLING US ALL SEASON LONG THAT HE KNOWS THAT HIS LEGACY AND WHEN HE'S FINALLY GONNA GET THE RESPECT THAT HE DESERVES, IT'S GONNA BE WHEN HE HAS A CHANCE TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL AND WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. HE'S GONNA GET THAT OPPORTUNITY HERE NEXT WEEK. WHAT A YEAR HE'S HAD, AND WHAT A JOB THIS GUY, JON GRUDEN, HAS DONE FOR THIS FOOTBALL TEAM. >> IT'S WORTH POINTING OUT, AS YOU SEE A LOT OF THE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS AROUND JON GRUDEN, A POINT THAT WE MADE LAST WEEK. THE TAMPA BAY PLAYERS WILL TELL YOU, ESPECIALLY THE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS, THEY LOVED TONY DUNGY. TONY DUNGY STILL HAS HIS FINGERPRINTS ON A LOT OF WHAT'S HAPPENING OUT ON THE FIELD RIGHT NOW WITH THE BUCCANEERS. BUT WHEN GRUDEN CAME, NOT ONLY DID HE BRING LIFE TO THIS OFFENSE, BUT HE EVEN CHARGED UP THIS TREMENDOUS DEFENSE. AND OVERALL, THIS TEAM WAS BETTER PREPARED FOR THIS GAME IN PHILADELPHIA. >> I THINK THE REASON HE WAS ABLE TO CHARGE UP THE OFFENSE AND GET THE DEFENSE EXCITED WAS BECAUSE HE CAME IN AND HE HELD THE OFFENSE TO THE SAME STANDARD THAT THIS DEFENSE HAS BEEN PLAYING TO FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THAT GOT EVERYBODY EXCITED. AND THERE'S NO QUESTION. YOU TALK TO THE PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM. JON GRUDEN HAS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE ATTITUDE AND THE WAY THEY'VE GONE OUT AND PLAYED THIS YEAR. >> THE TWINS, TIKI AND RONDE BARBER, CELEBRATING ON THE SIDELINE. AND RONDE, SUCH A BIG PART OF THIS WIN IN PHILADELPHIA. AS THE EAGLES SPEND THEIR FINAL TIME-OUT. ANDY REID, THE COACH OF THE YEAR THIS SEASON. BUT IT'S JON GRUDEN WHO ENDS UP TAKING HIS TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS TO THE SUPER BOWL AFTER THE STEEP PRICE THAT THE FRANCHISE PAID TO GET HIM FROM THE OAKLAND RAIDERS. HE WILL STEER THEM IN HIS FIRST YEAR. AND HE WAS A LATE HIRE. HE DOES NOT HAVE THE TYPE OF OFFENSIVE LINE HE WANTED, ALTHOUGH THEY'RE GETTING BETTER. DOESN'T HAVE A LOT OF SPEED ON THE OUTSIDE AT RECEIVER. YET HERE HE IS, WITH A DATE OUT IN SAN DIEGO WITH EITHER THE RAIDERS OR THE TITANS. >> I THINK YOU MAKE A GREAT POINT, JOE. THE FACT THAT HE'S BEEN ABLE TO TAKE THIS TEAM AND GET THEM INTO THE SUPER BOWL, A TEAM THAT, OFFENSIVELY SPEAKING, HAS BEEN CHALLENGED. CLEARLY THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PEOPLE IN PLACE THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM HAVE. I THINK THEY'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO GET BETTER ON THAT SIDE OF THE BALL. BUT HE'S DONE A GREAT JOB OF COVERING UP SOME OF THOSE WEAKNESSES. >> NOW THE BUCCANEERS WILL SPEND A TIME-OUT. AND THE EAGLES AND BUCS -- NOBODY HAS ANY TIME-OUTS LEFT. >> ONE LAST CHUCKY FACE FOR THE SPECIAL-TEAMS GUYS BLOWING IT OUT THERE. AND FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, IT'S BEEN A GREAT YEAR FOR ANDY REID AND JIM JOHNSON AND COMPANY, AND I DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM WHAT THEY'VE DONE. BUT, TROY, I'VE GOT TO SAY, I DON'T KNOW IF THEY BELIEVED THAT TAMPA BAY COULD TAKE IT TO THEM THE WAY THAT THEY TOOK IT TO THEM TODAY. I ALMOST FELT LIKE, IN WATCHING THAT FIRST HALF, THEY FELT LIKE IF THEY DIDN'T TAKE TOO MANY CHANCES, IF THEY DIDN'T TURN THE FOOTBALL OVER, THEY WERE GONNA BEAT THIS BUNCH. THE FLIP SIDE OF IT WAS, THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS WERE AGGRESSIVE. THEY WERE CHALLENGING. THEY WERE TAKING CHANCES. THEY ROLLED THE DICE. AND I'M NOT SURE THAT PHILADELPHIA CAME OUT WITH THAT SAME MIND-SET. >> AND I KNOW JIM JOHNSON, THIS WAS HIS THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AND HAS NEVER BEEN TO A SUPER BOWL. OF COURSE, ANDY REID HAS. THIS IS HIS FIFTH CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. BUT THE ONLY TEAM THAT'S GONNA FEEL WORSE THAN THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES OR WHOEVER LOSES THIS AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IS THE TEAM THAT LOSES IN THE SUPER BOWL NEXT WEEK. >> A PUNT FROM TUPA. BRIAN MITCHELL. MITCHELL, WHO STARTED THIS GAME SO WELL FOR PHILADELPHIA. A 70-YARD RETURN, A TWO-PLAY DRIVE, AN EARLY TOUCHDOWN. ONLY 3 POINTS SINCE FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. AND THIS GAME, PRETTY MUCH FROM THAT MOMENT ON, HAS BEEN DOMINATED BY THE BUCCANEERS. >> AND HOW ABOUT THE JOB MONTE KIFFIN HAS DONE WITH THIS DEFENSE THIS SEASON? HERE'S A GUY, NEVER GETS MENTIONED FOR A HEAD COACHING JOB. YOU DON'T HEAR HIS NAME. HE'S NOT GETTING INTERVIEWED. AND ALL THE GUY DOES IS EVERY SINGLE YEAR PUT ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSES IN THE LEAGUE OUT THERE ON THE FIELD. THIS YEAR THEY'RE NUMBER ONE. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY GAVE UP THE EARLY TOUCHDOWN, HE REGROUPED HIS GUYS, GOT THEM OVER ON THE SIDELINE. AND THEY CAME BACK AND GAVE UP ZILCH THE REST OF THE DAY. >> DONOVAN McNABB WITH THE THROW. A BOBBLE AND NO CATCH. OFF THE HANDS OF FREEMAN. THIS HAS BEEN A TAMPA TEAM THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN LOADED WITH TALENT BUT LOPSIDED IN THE FAVOR OF THE DEFENSE. THEY'VE HAD FRUSTRATING ENDS TO THEIR SEASONS THE LAST TWO YEARS THAT HAVE COME TO A CLOSE RIGHT HERE AT VETERANS STADIUM WITH GAMES WHERE THEY BASICALLY DIDN'T SHOW UP. AND NOW THEY COME UP HERE, THE 2002-2003 SEASON, AND IT'S ALL SMILES. AND BRAD JOHNSON SHOULD TAKE A LOT OF PRIDE IN THE FACT THAT AT QUARTERBACK, HE HAS HELPED REVIVE THIS TAMPA BAY OFFENSE AND HAS THEM POINTED TO THE SUPER BOWL. McNABB THROWS. AND IT'S OFF THE HANDS OF STALEY. GUYS, IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE IN OUR FIRST YEAR. AND WE WANT TO TELL THE FOLKS THAT TODAY'S GAME IS BEING PRODUCED BY RICHIE ZYONTZ AND DIRECTED BY ARTIE KEMPNER. TECHNICAL PRODUCER, DAVE HILL. TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, RICH BASILLI. AND THE AUDIO MIXER IS FRED ALDOUS. THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTORS, GREG SCOPATONI AND DEREK MANNING. OUR EDITORIAL CONSULTANT, STEVE HORN IN THE BOOTH. THE BROADCAST ASSOCIATES, JACOB ULLMAN AND JEREMY GREEN. THE PREGAME SHOW PRODUCED BY SCOTT ACKERSON. DIRECTED BY BOB LEVY. THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, JENNIFER LOVE. THE STUDIO TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR, JACK SIMMONS. SENIOR PRODUCER OF FOX SPORTS, BILL BROWN. AND THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS OF FOX SPORTS, ED GOREN AND DAVID HILL. DAVE SCHWAB, OUR SPOTTER. STEVE KLEINFELDT, OUR STATISTICIAN. ON THIRD DOWN, A NOTHING PLAY TO STALEY. AND IT'LL BE FOURTH DOWN AFTER A GAIN OF ONLY 1. >> I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, GUYS. I'M GONNA READ OFF THE NAMES OF A COUPLE OF GUYS AS WELL. AND THEY PLAY ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. THIS HAS BEEN PERHAPS THE MOST MALIGNED GROUP OF GUYS THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE SEASON. YOU GO BACK TO WEEK 1 AGAINST THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS. EVERY TIME BRAD JOHNSON DROPPED BACK, IT LOOKED LIKE A JAILBREAK. AND WHERE THEY'VE COME AND WHERE BILL MUIR HAS BROUGHT THIS BUNCH. ROMAN OBEN, AN OUTSTANDING JOB WITHOUT NEARLY AS MUCH HELP AS HE HAD THE FIRST TIME AGAINST HUGH DOUGLAS. KERRY JENKINS, JEFF CHRISTY, COSEY COLEMAN, KENYATTA WALKER. THEY'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL BECAUSE THOSE GUYS HAVE IMPROVED ABOUT A HUNDREDFOLD FROM THE FIRST GAME THIS SEASON. >> ANTONIO FREEMAN WITH A CATCH. THE CLOCK CONTINUES TO RUN. THE BALL RESTING JUST OUTSIDE THE 30. >> ROMAN OBEN, A GUY THAT'S PLAYING FOR THE MINIMUM. NOBODY WANTED HIM. EVERYBODY OUT THERE JUST CUT HIM LOOSE. AND HE HAS BEEN THE ANCHOR ON THAT LEFT SIDE ALL SEASON LONG. >> SEE IF WE HAVE ONE MORE PLAY. ONE MORE PLAY IN THIS NFC CHAMPIONSHIP. IT'S CHAD LEWIS. LEWIS BROUGHT DOWN INSIDE THE 10, AND THAT COMPLETES A TREMENDOUS DAY FOR THIS TAMPA BAY DEFENSE. >> YOU CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE DEFENSE. YOU CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THAT MAN RIGHT THERE, JON GRUDEN. THE JOB THAT HE'S DONE EVER SINCE ARRIVING HERE IN TAMPA BAY. AND ESPECIALLY ABOUT BRAD JOHNSON. FINALLY FOUND HIMSELF A HOME, A COACH THAT BELIEVES IN HIM. MADE THE MOST OF HIS OPPORTUNITIES, AS HAS HIS TEAM. AND NOW THEY'RE GONNA MAKE THEIR FIRST TRIP TO THE SUPER BOWL IN FRANCHISE HISTORY. >> THAT'S RIGHT. THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS ARE HEADED TO SAN DIEGO FOR SUPER BOWL XXXVII. THEY AWAIT THE WINNER OF THE TITANS-RAIDERS GAME, WHICH IS TO FOLLOW LATER TODAY. WE ALSO WANT TO THANK MIKE STEVEPACK, WHO WORKS THE FOX BOX. BARRY STRUMPF, STATISTICIAN. BEN ALTOPP, WHO HELPS US UP HERE IN THE BOOTH. IT'S BEEN A FUN FIRST YEAR. AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, AS THEY WILL MOVE ON TO SAN DIEGO. LET'S GO DOWN TO PAM OLIVER. >> ALL RIGHT, JON GRUDEN. I GUESS THAT "US AGAINST THE WORLD" THING WORKED FOR YOU. >> WE GOT A LOT OF CONFIDENCE. WE WON 13 GAMES. WE DIDN'T FEEL LIKE WE PLAYED OUR BEST EARLIER HERE IN PHILLY. WE BEAT A GREAT TEAM. WE'RE ECSTATIC TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL. WE JUST GOT TO WIN ONE MORE GAME. >> HOW MUCH ARE YOU LOVING RONDE BARBER ABOUT NOW? >> I'VE ALWAYS LOVED HIM. HE'S A CLUTCH PLAYMAKER AND ONE OF THE 50 BEST-LOOKING GUYS IN THE WORLD, NEXT TO ME. >> HOW GOOD DOES IT FEEL TO DELIVER? [ LAUGHS ] YOU CAUGHT ME THERE. I MEAN, TAMPA BROUGHT YOU IN, PAID A LOT TO GET YOU, AND LOOK AT YOU. GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL. >> I GOT A LOT OF RESPECT FOR THE GUY THAT I SUCCEEDED. TONY DID A GREAT JOB. LEFT SOME BIG SHOES FOR ME TO FILL. WE GOT GREAT PLAYERS HERE. I REALLY COMPLIMENT OUR FOOTBALL PLAYERS. GOT 26 NEW GUYS HERE, AND HEY, WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL. >> AND FINALLY, DON'T TELL ME YOU HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THIS -- THE POSSIBILITY OF FACING YOUR FORMER TEAM. >> I GOT A LOT OF RESPECT, OBVIOUSLY, FOR WHERE I COME FROM, AND I DO HAVE SOME CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS WITH SOME OF THOSE PLAYERS. IT'D SURELY BE EXCITING. >> THANKS, JON. APPRECIATE IT. LET'S GO BACK TO JOE. >> ALL RIGHT, PAM. THANKS. AND ONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT HE HAS A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH IS A GUY BY THE NAME OF GANNON, THE NFL MVP. THE QUARTERBACK, RICH GANNON, OF THE OAKLAND RAIDERS. THEY WILL PLAY THE TENNESSEE TITANS, AND THE WINNER WILL TAKE ON THE BUCCANEERS IN SUPER BOWL XXXVII IN SAN DIEGO. >> THAT WILL BE A HECK OF A MATCHUP IF IT WINDS UP COMING DOWN TO OAKLAND AND TAMPA BAY. AND I THINK JON GRUDEN SAID IT BEST. HE'S STILL GOT A LOT OF CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS OUT THERE OUT WEST. THEY'VE OBVIOUSLY STILL GOT TO WIN ANOTHER FOOTBALL GAME. BUT ALL WE DO KNOW IS TAMPA BAY IS GOING. >> LET'S GO BACK DOWN TO PAM OLIVER. >> HERE WITH JOE JUREVICIUS. BOY, OUR HEARTS GO OUT FOR YOU RIGHT NOW. I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN DEALING WITH A LOT. HOW DID IT FEEL TO COME OUT HERE, BEAT THIS TEAM IN THIS PLACE, WHERE NOBODY GAVE YOU A CHANCE? >> WELL, I'M SITTING ON TOP OF THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. IT'S BEEN A ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS ALL WEEK. BUT, YOU KNOW, MY FAMILY NEEDED ME TO DO THIS, AND I'M A FAMILY GUY. AND THE WAY I FEEL RIGHT NOW AND THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING, I THINK MY SON MIGHT BE UP WALKING RIGHT NOW. SO I'M HAPPY. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANKS TO THE BUCCANEER ORGANIZATION FOR GIVING ME A CHANCE. I'VE GOT THE BEST TEAMMATES IN THE WORLD, MAN. AND WE'VE DONE IT ALL ALONG. WHEN PEOPLE SAY WE CAN'T DO IT, WE DO IT. JON WASN'T REALLY A FOOTBALL COACH THIS WEEK FOR YOU, WAS HE? HE WAS MORE OF JUST A SUPPORTER OF THE THINGS YOU NEEDED TO DO. >> YEAH. FAMILY ALWAYS COMES FIRST. BUT THIS IS PART OF MY LIFE, AND COACH GRUDEN WAS THERE FOR ME. TOLD ME DO WHAT I NEEDED TO DO. AND REALLY, I MEAN, I FEEL I OWE A LOT OF THANKS TO HIM. I JUST WANT TO GO BACK HOME AND HOLD MY SON. >> AND A SHOUT-OUT TO MICHAEL AND MEAGAN, RIGHT? >> MICHAEL AND MEAGAN, I LOVE YOU GUYS. >> LET'S GO BACK TO JOE. >> ALL RIGHT, PAM. AN EMOTIONAL MOMENT FOR JOE JUREVICIUS. CAPTIONS PAID FOR BY NFL FILMS
