while our roles were reversed from the norm it was because my Esso was really good friends with the bride and I was really good friends with the groom and while the four of us were great friends the couple thought it would be great if the people that introduced them were on the correct sides of the aisle for the ceremony one of the other groomsmen was adamant about hiring a dancer now I don't care about that stuff and wouldn't have an issue sitting through the show with them but the groom was adamant about no dancers the groomsmen got belligerent and hired one anyway I found out from the other groomsman and met her at the door paid her and sent her on her way before she was seen by the groom for the rest of the night the belligerent groomsmen thought it was because I was a witch trying to ruin the fun of the night I totally let him think that and didn't tell the groom a thing to this day I don't think he knows that his brother tried to hire a dancer for the festivities that night it's not that the groom was approved it was just one of those things he was very adamant about not wanting because he thought it was incredibly disrespectful to himself and to his soon-to-be wife as well as the wives of the other guys there he wouldn't have enjoyed it and would have felt extraordinarily guilty about it happening on a night that was supposed to be about him to this day I think his brother still hates me but I don't think the groom knows why and I don't care enough to tell him what really happened because it was a fantastic night otherwise I am a last-minute bridesmaid for a wedding in May my friend came to me in tears because her stepsister and cousin both backed out in the last two weeks and she was left with no one on her side of the wedding party she will never ever know that I had already discussed with a few other friends what to do when her bridesmaids ditched her she loves her family so much but those girls have a history of ruining important moments in her life when she announced the wedding six months ago and I found out who she had tapped his bridesmaids I quietly went around and asked people if they would be willing to wait in the wings just in case the step sister and cousin flaked I hoped it wouldn't be necessary but those two couldn't let her have a day that didn't involve some kind of drama anyways us round two bridesmaids have got an awesome bachelorette party planned we found a clay shooting range that has hot pink tools and they'll cater a picnic on the lake - how very broke being her maid of honor made me at the time I was working part-time at a coffee shop making barely over minimum wage I was living with my parents so no rent but like 90% of my monthly wages went towards food gas and student loans my friend the bride was nice enough to pay for my dress but that still left me on the hook for the bachelorette party bridal shower gift hair makeup and shoes her family was too lazy and broke to throw the shower and her other bridesmaids helped as little as possible both with planning and money in order to be able to throw her a potluck shower and a small minimalist bachelorette party I had to be constantly available to cover extra shifts cash in my dad's empties across state lines and steal tips we weren't allowed tips but some customers didn't want their change and would leave it behind two other girls would steal them anyway so I beat them to it even that wasn't enough so I resorted to putting the last expenses on my emergency only credit card and paying it off very slowly over the next several months all the goldfish died my sister was getting married and had these little centerpieces with vases full of water with two or three goldfish in each one and orange tiger lilies around it I put the goldfish in the vases the night before the wedding I followed all the directions I swear setting their bag in the water for a few hours to make sure the shock of the temperature change and the water didn't affect them and when we got to the venue in the morning they were all dead we didn't let my sister see we shuttled her into the make ready area and sent one of the other bridesmaids to the pet shop to get emergency goldfish they only had an F goldfish to put one fish in each display but luckily she was too distracted by other things to notice I still feel bad for those poor goldfish I'm sure I did something wrong and ended them all but I have no idea what I did wrong I'm a mass fish murderer she got married at part of a botanical garden and we were given rides on a golf cart type thing down to where the ceremony was the dresses we wore were chiffon and I caught my dress on a sharp piece of metal on the cart and ripped it we had an emergency sewing kit but material of the dress made it almost impossible to fix luckily the tear was on the back of the dress toward the bottom and it wasn't very visible when I walked so even though our frantic attempts to mend it really didn't work she never noticed the bride was a very pale redhead and extremely particular about every little detail I'm not sure how she didn't notice that the neckline of her dress in the back showed off her fairly major sunburn we were all with her in the suite when she put her dress on and the veil some unfortunate soul said something about how it was barely noticeable to other bridesmaids pretended that the comment was about some water that had spilled on a diable shoe we got her through the wedding the sunburn didn't show in any of the pictures Doody done I was the maid of honor at my sister's wedding I overheard the best man planning on pulling a prank on the bride telling her that the groom hasn't been seen and his car is gone I threatened the crap out of him if he went through with that would have actually punched him if he did he went on to spill of dark beer on her dress before we did pictures but didn't care because she knew she was getting married anyway and who the hell cares about a stain best bride ever that we looked awful the bride looked beautiful and she had very kindly paid for me and the other bridesmaids to have our makeup and hair done professionally it must have been expensive and it was such a kind gesture so we didn't say anything until we had time alone together and immediately turned to each other to say mate we look horrible I have never seen makeup at ten years the way our makeup did it was applied with a trowel I actually had to fix my lipstick after the makeup people left because for some reason the lady had colored only the middle of my lips she had essentially drawn smaller lips onto my lips the other bridesmaid looks like Boy George and I looked strikingly like my grandmother to be honest it ended up being the highlight of our night because we found ways to secretly remind each other you look horrible I found it offensive that one of my close friends made a few of us her bridesmaids we bought our dresses and then after her husband called off the wedding she decided not to ask us to be her bridesmaids again when her engagement got reinstated I know it's because she thought we were mad at her that we spent so much money for nothing but it stings we missed her wedding because of it she is one of our best friends and we wanted to be there for it at least I did anyway but I've never told her that hurt I don't want her to feel worse I'll never admit to her that I hated the dress she picked out for me and the other bridesmaid and how annoyed I was that her fiance insisted we buy dresses from a bridal shop rather than finding dresses on our own even though that's what the bride wanted us to do in the first place I had just graduated college was looking for a job three hundred and fifty dollars is a lot for someone who isn't getting any income to top it off I started my period during the wedding the dress was difficult to move in and I didn't have much chance to run to the restroom in time thankfully multiple layers hid the blood so now I have the stained dress that I hate hanging in my closet mocking me I've only been a bridesmaid once I was the maid of honor at my sister's wedding the hardest thing was that she let me pick my own dress which was cool but she had so many rules it had to be a midi dress it had to have a high neckline it couldn't have sleeves thicker than spaghetti straps but it couldn't be strapless it had to have a lace or mesh overlay it had to have a bow it couldn't flare out at the waist but it couldn't be tight she should have just picked out my dress in the end I ended up buying a dress that I would never wear again after searching for three months I'm five feet tall so finding long dresses is hard enough as it is she loved it at least I have a friend Darla whose friend have only met her once I don't know her well enough to have been invited to her wedding insisted that she had a full year leading up to her wedding day to be the center of attention this meant that she expected that none of her friends or family members would get engaged get pregnant or have a baby have a sizeable birthday celebration or have any significant attention drawn to them for 365 calendar days because that was her year she even made a hashtag for every post or photo on social media that started out as hashtag all about 3 2015 brie not her real name which she later changed to hashtag all about brie and Dax 2015 not his real name either when some people teased her that her fiance didn't matter Darla was told she was very selfish for having the audacity to host a birthday party for herself with only five months to go to Brie's big day especially considering that birthdays happen every single year Bree did not attend the party so I didn't have the opportunity to witness any shenanigans she elected to stay at home and vague book about it instead this was a close relative of mine and I wasn't a bridesmaid but she wanted me to be an usher I was okay with doing that until she purposely cut my little sister out of the wedding because we have different moms and she doesn't like my little sister's mom my little sister is a child and was visibly upset that she couldn't participate so my other siblings and I backed out of the usher role because we didn't think it was fair then the bride told us we were turning down a great honor like now it's not a great honor to be an usher at a relative's wedding oMG the worst wedding I was a part of it wasn't the bride so much as the mother of the groom she was an overbearing witch and the bride didn't have the spine to stand up to her ASO and I were barely making ends meet and she demanded that all the groomsmen had to rent tuxes because suits were trashy so we had to spend $300 for a tux rental and do you know what the bridesmaids got to wear a black dress that was the only stipulation for us and our hair had to be down but oh no the man had to be in $300 tuxes it was so bizarre she just kept demanding things and the bride kept caving mother of groom didn't even offer to pay for any of the things she demanded just expected them to be done the bride's maid of honor was also a spoiled princess addict only sister of the groom she's the golden child who could do no wrong mother of groom tried to make it about her daughter it was just so gross she kept trying to make her son's wedding all about her children like edging out the bride and putting her children in the spotlight maid of honor kept flaking on all her duties so as the only other bridesmaid that lived close I stepped up and did it all help setup helped tear down the chocolate fountain broke and I took that bastard apart and rebuilt it to get it working surprise talent stayed up late with her getting together her gifts and stuff the whole nine yards never even got a thank-you I don't mind helping out friends but please be appreciative it takes exactly five seconds and zero dollars to not be an idiot bride was not the problem bride's mother always the problem standing at the altar I maid of honor looked and realized between the groom his brother best man his dad and myself there were five cell phones with four different law enforcement agency numbers programmed into them this was before smart phones I'd actually put mine on silent and stuff that first generation razor into my brow with all but the last number of the local police department already dialed so if the witch went over a Pew at the mother of the groom or the bride herself it was two buttons to get somebody on the line when this mother figured out that I was the buffer between the bride and all things designed to fluster her on the day of the wedding she purposely moved my things out of the private changing room to force me to go find them while the other two pushover bridesmaids politely left her some privacy with her daughter not realizing it was the mother's opportunity to tell my friend that she looked fat and disgusting in her dress and not to come crying when the marriage fell apart in six months because my friend is so hard to love over ten years later they're still together unfortunately the mothers still alive and making a nuisance of herself too but at least we didn't end up needing to call the cops I was a bridesmaid for my cousin and she was horrific in my opinion she messaged me asking me not to get any tattoos before her wedding because they are and not to get any more piercings because they are disgusting she was angry at her friend for not being able to fly because she was eight months pregnant even though my cousin flew for her wedding I'm pretty sure people don't plan their lives family around my cousin's wedding I was made to set up her wedding the day before which I honestly didn't mind for the most part but she was stressing and snapping at everyone because she had planned everything to the bare minimum she was just honestly annoyed people didn't go above and beyond for her when I know for a fact she doesn't do the same for anyone else I was a bridesmaid years ago for a childhood friend and she made us pay for our hair and nails along with our dresses and shoes I was annoyed because in my mind if the bride is requiring a French manicure and certain up to she should pay for it I'm not talented at all when it comes to hair and nails so of course I had to pay to have it all professionally done which she failed to mention we were each paying for until the day of the wedding and cool was paying for the dress shoes and contributing to the Bachelorette but any extras no that should be on the bride or at least talk to us about it first plus I had just graduated college and was on a budget also I felt bad for the maid of honor during the bridal shower she worked so hard to make it perfect have it be a girl's only day that was made clear in the invites but the bride showed up with her fiance and hardly paid any attention to anyone by him you're marrying the guy leave him at home for an afternoon and spend some time with the women close to you sheesh first and only wedding I've been in I had to wear heels even though I told her that I can't walk in them and they make me feel super awkward and uncomfortable she forced me to wear heels they had to be very specific to my boyfriend almost wasn't invited to the wedding the dress was almost $300 I had an appointment to get my hair trimmed and she slightly freaked out because she didn't want me to cut my hair she wanted the straps on the dress to be half an inch wide the seamstress made them about an inch still look just fine and it was the end of the world edit and she was annoyed because one of the bridesmaids was 8 months pregnant at the wedding so it ruined the pictures the wedding I was just supposed to be in $2,000 cruise then I got kicked out for being maid of honor because I wouldn't be at the beck and call literally that's the reason I'm moving about an hour away and because I won't be able to just zip down in five minutes she chose someone else I am so done with weddings my best friend turned out to be the worst bridezilla ever she was totally infatuated with this Eastern European dude we live in the US and despite everyone else's warnings she wanted to marry him we were pretty sure that he was either after her money or her citizenship I was due to start grad school in September complete with teaching duties and she decides that she wants to get married in the dudes country on Labor Day because it's a destination wedding and people will be grateful for a long weekend then she asks me to be her maid of honor I'm of course panicked because I'm supposed to be starting a new school and a new job the Monday after and there is no way I can attend the wedding and be present for the first day of school there's also the money issues since I was a poor grad student and a round trip to Eastern Europe plus accommodation plus whatever maid of honor is supposed to pay was not going to be cheap when I brought up these issues to my best friend and I told her that I couldn't be her maid of honor she was furious had she gone ahead with the wedding it probably would have cost us our friendship but the dude decided to bail a few months before the wedding and the friendship was salvaged so technically I haven't been in this wedding party but it was a terrible experience Restaurant Manager story the wedding dinner was on a Sunday so instead of the usual one manager on we had the banquet coordinator come on for a few hours to make sure everyone was happy they were a rich couple and we wanted more of their business their menu was a hundred and nineteen dollars a person and they had $80 bottles of red on the table so guests start to arrive and order obviously start ordering drinks at this point bride and mother see this and approach the head server they tell her that everyone except the head table are to get separate bills that they are not planning on paying for anything but what's at the head table server finds us tells us what's happening and banquet manager heads over to figure out what's going on seems that the bride and mother decided that their guests should have to pay and they didn't want to be the bad guys so they expected us to have to tell the guests they also decided that since they are their guests at their wedding they will drink and eat what they are eating we tell the people that have already arrived half of them thinking it's a joke once we told them the truth they laughed and left my job became to stay at the front and tell all the people arriving for the dinner that they are going to be responsible for their whole bill and what the costs were final guest count was 20 people most left once I told them what the costs were we ended up threatening legal action against them since they signed the banquet sheets stating that they agreed on 60 dinners best part was they paid the full 60 dinners plus gratuity and only had 20 people there because they wanted to save some money the day of the wedding everyone working has a list of jobs to do to get ready for the wedding all of my fellow employees are setting up everything so the couple's families can get ready and relax we set out the chairs decorations flowers tables silverware the dining room the Arbour everything the only thing they had to do was hold on to the dogs spoilers they did it we finished everything on the inside in the morning and we were almost done finishing everything outside when we all hear a massive crash on the inside of our massive event room it was the dogs one had started with the wedding cake and accompanied artsy cupcakes the other moved into on top of the beverages tables where they broke around a champagne flutes 60 stemless wine glasses and around 120 ish glasses along with four crystal punch bowls and all the accompanying champagne wine and punch and they did it all within a few seconds needless to say the bride and groom's handler was their 15 year old nephew who in his eternal wisdom thought that he would let them run around a bit before the wedding when the bride walked out of the changing rooms and down the hall to see the noise she was not happy at the site of the massacre that took place and lost her mind blaming us for everything why did he let the dogs into the room why didn't you keep a hold of them why would you set up your reception room so the incoming guests could get drinks and sit down and relax etc she said she didn't care how but to get all this ready before the reception or she would sue us
