of faith on Wednesday night we studied the Bible praise God mainly book my book verse by verse Allah midweek services praise the Lord for the last several weeks we've been ministering from the book of Colossians we left off last week in Colossians chapter 2 we're going to back up a few verses from where we left off last week praise God add a little bit more and then go further on into chapter 2 of the book of Colossians and so let's read here beginning with verse 10 Paul Rizer the church says and ye are complete in him now the Greek word here because the New Testament translated from the Greek and sometimes people ask well why degree because Greek was the business language of the day worldwide just like today that business language of the day worldwide is English if you're an airline pilot let's say praise God I don't care what country you're in you still need to be able to speak English to deal with the control towers and all the other things around the world well Greek was the business language of that day and so Paul wrote these things in Greek so the Greek word here praise God we're talking about here he says here and you are completing him mr. Greek word play role play role we oftentimes talk about it means the Kremen net full and another way to say that is that you are furnished so what he said was and you took the colossi which means also Church of the Lord Jesus Christ the church at Colossae of course was born-again spirit filled believers just like you and I are today he said then so you are furnished in Christ which is the head of all principality and power praise God we looked at on last week Ephesians chapter one told us that Jesus Christ is the head of the church which is his body and it says there and at verse 22 he is the fullness of the church now it's the fullness of him that filleth all in all which means that we complete Jesus mission hallelujah and so we are complete in him we have been furnished and in him praise God and he is the head of all principality and power which means principality means chief or chief spirits amen powers means Authority in other words Jesus Christ is the highest authority of all praise God and he's put us in position through his authority to operate higher than any other authority in the earth in fact this is how people get saved or get born again the Romans chapter 10 verse 9 says that if you would confess that we're confess homologue zero means if you will acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord the word Lord is curious means the highest authority amen that Jesus Christ is the highest of authority of all shall believe in your heart that's the decision you make that God raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved says in verse 10 with your heart you believe on two right standing with God and with your mouth your announcement is made unto your deliverance or salvation and then verse 13 here says whosoever that would include you calls on the name of the Lord or the authority the Lord shall be saved you see so what it says here is praise God we the church we have been furnished in Christ Christ is the head of all Chiefs and all authorities and whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands now that's kind of a Lizabeth and English thing so I'm going to kind of break that down for you in whom and of course anytime that you read the New Testament which is where you're supposed to spend 75 to 80% of your time in the Bible today the letters that Paul wrote and the other was called general epistles deal with what we have today in Christ's praise God the Bible tells us the Old Testament is for our admonition and for our learning but the New Testament gives us who we are so these phrases are important in Christ in him in whom so when you see these verses that say in Christ or in him in whom is referring to us today so it says in whom church also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands of course circumcision means to cut and God entered into a covenant with Abraham this way in Genesis 17 Abram Abram is a ninety nine years of age and God comes to him and he says he says now I want you to stand before me and be thou perfect be now mature now when there's a whole spur about it's in maturity but be now mature now he said I'm changing your name from our brahmand to Abraham the great multitude he said I'm enter into a covenant with you and this is the sign of the circumcision was the cutting of the foreskin well that was the physical sign of the covenant with God but it says here in verse 11 speaking to us the church and whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision not made with hands so here he's not talking about physical circumstances obviously when he says not made with hands or hands are involved but he's talking about circumcision of the heart he's talking about a spiritual thing he's talking about the cutting that happened when you were born again when you made Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior when you made him your Lord and Savior there was a cutting away of the old man hallelujah and getting a new man second thien's 5:17 reads therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature the old things are passed away or as this verse would say the old things are cut away and behold all things have become new praise the Lord so a born-again believer is a new creation in Christ one translation says a new species of being another translation says praise God a new species that never before existed absolutely sources in whom also then you are circumcised with the circumcision not or made without hands in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh how by the circumcision of Christ so praise the Lord what's he telling us here well he's telling us a number of things first of all he's telling us glory to God that in putting out the body of the sins by the circum system of Christ he's talking about the cutting that happened with Jesus he's talking about on that on that whipping post on Good Friday the strife that were laid upon his back amen the the torment and punishment that he received being nailed to that cross it was for the purpose of putting up putting away or cutting away from us sins devastating result since devastating result is Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is deaf in all of us formed culminating in eternal death and hell well praise the Lord he says here putting up the body of the sins of the flesh how by the circumstance of a Christ Barry with him in baptism I kind of mentioned this last Wednesday night but I'm gonna say it again too often times people get caught up on the ceremony Oh get caught up on the outward stuff and miss the meaning of things I had today someone asked the questions a few days ago about communion this whole issue about well as we receive Communion on this past Sunday was they were arguing that well we didn't have the actual unleavened bread and we we didn't have the actual wine well the bread or the wine whether or not you use wonder wheat bread or whether or not you use tobacco juice or not tobacco tomato juice or whatever kind of juice doesn't matter the issue is what does this represent amen because God's telling you what happened when these things were done with Jesus so when you go down in into the grave you're saying that he was crucified and when you come up out of the grave or out of the water you're saying but he did not stay in that grave he rose to do this of life and when he rose I roles with him now whether or not whether or not you want to argue about the formula arguing about the formula just isn't spiritually mature understanding what it means I was crucified with Jesus and I'd been raised with him I was dead but now I'm alive hallelujah that's what it's about so let's just burn it buried with him in Baptism wherein also you are risen with him through now of course the word through means the door amen we are have been risen with him through the faith of the operation of God now the Greek word for fave is the word pista praise the Lord trust confidence to belief amen and that word there operation of God energy means the efficiency and energy of God and what is he referring to he's referring to Ephesians chapter 1 Paul prayed in Ephesians chapter 1 that our eyes would open so that we would understand this truth in fact rather than just quoted for because I certainly could but let's just go back and read it quickly murphy's is chapter 1 he says in verse 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us who believe according to the working there's that word again praise the Lord that word also means efficiency operation of his mighty strength or Chronos which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead and then set him at his own right hand in heavenly places far above all principality might Dominion every authority that's mentioned in this world not on that was just to come so what he said here as we go back to Colossians there we're buried with him in Baptism wherein also you are risen through the operation the faith and operation of God God had complete trust that Jesus would the father had complete trust that Jesus would complete the mission and he had great trust that you and I would accept the results of the mission I don't know about you I sure have glory to God I'm so glad that God didn't leave mankind in the Garden of Eden with no future whatsoever God told him he said in Genesis he said the day you eat thereof shall surely die in chapter 2 of Genesis chapter 3 they mess it up and he could have left him that way but God devised a plan with genesis 3:15 and said the seed of the woman praised God is gonna bring about your deliverance and that seed of the woman was Jesus so we couldn't continue to read and so variable for him baptism wherein you are risen with Jesus through the faith of God's execution who have raised him from the dead and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh so once again he's telling you about both spirit sins and flesh amen dealing with the things of this world and of the body in fact let's just read that go back to Ephesian let's read ephesians chapter 2 and let's read verse 1 praise God I love this particular verse thank you Lord what you did for us says in verse 1 and you have he quickened the word quicken means have been made alive in other words you were dead you were born in sin you were born dead but now he has made you alive who were dead it says in trespasses and sins wherein in time past we used to walk according to the course of this age according to the Prince of the power of the air or Satan the spirit that now is active in the children of disobedience among whom also we all had our lifestyle the word conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh we fulfilled the desires of the flesh and of the mind and we were by nature we were born with the test the children of Wrath but God hallelujah verse 4 God who is rich in mercy thank God for his mercy for his great love where was he loved us even when we were dead in sin has quickened us together made us alive together with Christ the Anointed One by grace or God's power ye are saved and has raised us up together and made us sit in heavenly places remember Jesus is seated at the right hand throne of God he says we are to in Christ Jesus why that in the ages to come God the Father might show the exceeding riches or favor in this case of His grace and his car toward us through Christ Jesus for by grace are ye saved through faith not of yourselves it is the gift of God what's the gift of God everything in those verses was gift of God grace is a gift of God salvation to get to God payment for your sins was a gift of God and it told you why because God loved us with his great love now let's go back to Colossians as we continue to unravel this so he said here once again in verse 13 and you being dead in your sins talking about spiritually the uncircumcision of your flesh or naturally happy quickened together or made alive with Jesus having forgiven you all trespasses blotting out the handwriting of Ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us took it out of the way amen nailing it to his cross although wasn't talking about here he set aside the hand written of order says which was the law you see the law is was a lot more than just the Ten Commandments and there was purpose for the law in fact let's read what the lost purpose was let's go to Galatians chapter 3 amen and see why God did it because some people don't recognize that today we don't live under the law but the law was here and it was here for a purpose here for time in God's plan notice here in Galatians chapter 3 okay amen and let's hear a beginning oh I think I'll start with verse 17 this I say that the covenant which was confirmed before of God in Christ the law which was four hundred and thirty years after cannot disallow that is she made the promise of non effect what's he talking about four hundred thirty years and promised a non effect well praise God the law was entered into throw through Moses four hundred and thirty years after Abraham in Genesis seven and Genesis 22 when Abraham offered up Isaac willing to take his life and God said to him over there he said because you have done this thing then bless singer will bless you and I add that I will bless your seat and that your seed well of course take the gate of the enemy well he was referring to the fact that a men that deceived was Jesus but between that time there's gonna be time between when Abram did this wonderful thing and when Jesus is gonna be manifested in the air it's gonna be hundreds of years between that inch from the time God installed something called the law and know what it says here amen about the law verse 19 wherefore then serveth the law why was it there it was added because it written in wasn't there because of transgressions till in other words there was a beginning and then there was the end in his till till the seed should come to whom the promise was made and it was ordained by angels in the hands of a mediator well uh what was the promise to that seat well let's go back and let's read that Genesis 22 again let's see what that promise was go over to God Genesis 22 can I get three hallelujah tonight alright and let's pick up here one second here praise the Lord he says in verse 17 I kind of quote it part of it he said that in blessing I will bless thee and a multiplier will multiply thy seed now I didn't say seed singular or plural said singular thy seed as the stars of the heaven as the sandwich upon the seashore and that seed singular shall possess the gate of his enemies and in thy seed singular shall all nations of the earth be blessed because you obeyed my voice which was to take your son well this this word here possess also means y'all rush means to occupy and drive out the previous tenant the previous tenant was Satan's god of this world and that if he was going to drive him out so when you read Galatians chapter 3 again he said wherefore then serveth the law was added cause of Trance Christmas till the seed should come to whom that promise was made well let's see who that was verse 16 now to Abraham and his seed singular were the promises made he saith not and to seeds as of many but as of one and to thy seed which is Christ Christ was the seed and so the law was put in there until Jesus came there's still you know people fighting about trying to still do stuff in the tent stuff in the lawn and the Bible says to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy and all that well all that was over law amen God had a purpose for doing it won't get too much into that but he had it he had a purpose for doing it but he also told you when it ended you see I mean give you one more about that of 1st Corinthians chapter 10 and verse 32 is something you must always remember when you study the Bible it says here give non offence neither to the Jews nor to the Gentiles nor to the Church of God there are only three groups in the earth now there are many different physical racial groups you know white black red yellow so forth a man who as far as God is concerned there's only three groups in the earth they are the Jews they are the Gentiles and there's the church amen and you are one of those three you're either a Jew you're either a Gentile or you're a member of the Church of God amen and since they're only three groups you have to understand when you read the scripture you have to ask the question which group is he talking to so when you read two things and about the law in the Old Testament praise God he was talking to the Jews there's a reason why there was an Old Covenant and now there's a new covenant because now there are things that are different under the new then of the old and the central central point of why is because the Old Covenant particularly protected through the law protected the way in which people operate it at least kept the earth so it didn't get like it was in Genesis chapter 6 when the flood had to come where it says that every man's thought was only evil continually and God had to wipe out the race so now praise God at least there are some boundaries through which men can choose to operate to allow the holy Messiah to come up through there praise God so let's go back to Colossians here it's pick up once again verse 13 and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh happy quickened together with him having forgiven you all trespasses blotting out the handwriting of Ordinances or the law that was against us which was contrary it was against us and he took it out of the way and nailed it to his cross you saw that happen of course also and when Jesus was raised from the dead praise the Lord this is this weekend's because we will celebrate it it said praise God that the veil of the temple was rent in twain rent in two from the top to the bottom because before that under the law God himself chose to deal with Israel by putting himself in the temple praise God in the Holies of Holies and the high priest came in there once a year there was this big huge curtain that separated the most holy place from the holy place amen but now now praise God since jesus paid our price now he's been raised from the dead the veil that veil was ripped into in other words is a new time and god's dealing with man in a different way he's not dealing with just the covenant people Israel but now through him the seed all families of the earth can be blessed so whether or not you are a physical Jew praise God if you are born again you are a spiritual Jew you are a covenant individual and heirs according to the promise of God so he took it out of the way it says verse 14 nailing it to to his cross having spoiled principalities the word spoil it means he put off threw them off amen he's talking about what happened in the very pit of hell now there are there are some ministers they don't want to let Jesus go to hell and I'm here to tell you if he didn't go then then you and I are going now let me show you some scriptures that approved you because he had to first of all Psalm 91 sum-sum tells us praise God that Psalms 9 that's what I'm looking for Psalm 9 17 says that the wicked shall go to hell all nations that forget God so it tells you there is hell first of all then when you read in Acts chapter 2 let me get over here in parades all over hallelujah hallelujah we read here in verse 27 as Jay David prophesize because I will not leave my soul in Hell neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see decay down and goes on to say in verse 30 therefore being a profitable God knowing that God has sworn an oath to him then of the fruit of his loins according to the flesh he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne or David's throne Hussein is before speak of the resurrection of Christ that his soul was not left in Hell praise God well you see the penalty the price for sin all of it had to be paid and thank God Jesus paid all of the price for us so here there he is in the very pit of hell suffering untold agony for me and for you but as will rejoice about it later on this week on that third day praise God the Holy Ghost energized Jesus and we read what happened here I don't believe that there was a demon spirit on the surface of the planet see where the Bible tells us hell is as in the very center of this planet senator deserve praise God I don't believe there was a demon spirit on the surface I firmly believe that they were involved they're doing everything they can dance torment and have glee over the fact that they thought that they had won and first 15 says and having put off he threw off see that this spoil put off me infers a violent action that took place Jesus put off principalities and he threw our powers praise God and then he made an open show of them openly the word openly is par Mesilla there it means he did it boldly he did it publicly he did it praise God hallelujah without any reservation he threw off principalities and made an open display of them in other words those hoes praise God everyone and held their got to see it everybody praise God in in Davis puzzle or got to see it hallelujah they all got to see it because guess what happened Jesus is the victor Jesus is the Conqueror praise God Abraham's bosom folk got to see it I could just see David watching this praise the Lord remember there in the Book of Luke there was a rich man who died and a poor man who died and the rich man woke up there in the Book of Luke being in hell and he's the scripture said he saw Abraham on the other side of Abraham's bosom and he saw the poor man and Lazarus standing there he said father Abraham send Lazarus to dip his finger in a cup of water and put upon my tongue cuz I'm tormented in this flame he still had a servant an attitude of somebody else's pole to serve him here and learn anything yet and Abraham said he said son and your life you had good things he had poor things he said besides there's a great gulf between us and you and that guy said he said well then go back and tell my brother so they don't come to this place and Abraham said they won't hear the prophets and they won't hear that hear the word then they wouldn't even hear it even if a man came from the dead I almost couldn't pick a little bit more cuz I was 315 so he put our principalities powers he made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it praise God and then verse 16 says let no man therefore then judge you now the word here judges credo let no man condemned you in what in meat or in drink or in respect of a holy day in other words well you got to only worship on the Sabbath well you're gonna work worship only on Monday or Tuesday no he said don't let anybody condemn you a judge you about that of the new moon and then it says it straight out or of the Sabbath which are a note this shadow of things to come but the body is of Christ the Anointed One and so all these things were done as a shadow or in other words to signal how things were going to be in the future praise God hallelujah but the body is the anointed one in his anointing we today are the body of Christ every day is a holy day with us every day praise God is a blessed day with us David prophesied this is the day the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in it praise God the day of victory the day of being an overcomer the day of being someone filled with the Holy Ghost today of having received Jesus as the Messiah he says in verse 18 so then let no man beguile you or trick you of your reward and voluntary humility by of course the context he's talking about where I do this on a holy day or I do this this way or that way he said let no man beguile you of your reward and some voluntary humility worshipping of angels intruding into those things which he has not seen vainly puffed up by his fleshly man and not holding the head from which all the body be joints in bands having nourishment minister who's he talking about the head is Jesus the joints and bands are those of us who are members of the body of Christ Paul uses the same language there in Ephesians in Ephesians chapter 4 talks about that that God set apostles prophesy pastors teachers for the perfecting of the Saints working the ministry edifying abided Christ till we all come in and you need the faith now to the synagogue to mature man it goes on to say unto the measure the statute of fullness of Christ we all be henceforth no more children tossed this way in that way by every wind of doctrine of cunning craftiness whereby men whale lie and wait to see speak the truth and love grow up into him in all things which is Christ was the head amen then it talks about how all of us are knit together and in various other places are knit together praise God in him well praise God it says not holding the head well instead of focusing on Jesus they're focusing on well just a formula to be baptized this is the formula you got to be certain serve on a certain day you can only worship on a certain day is holy he said no no no that head today the anointing is Jesus praise God and with all of us having nourished from him ministered we are today knit together we're increasing with the increase of God verse 20 wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world or elements of the world why since your debt with Christ why is though living in the world are you subject to these ordinances some touch not taste not handle not see so he's talking about all the outward stuff of the flesh were where people are trying to have some kind of way thinking it's holy because we did dissident or didn't do that amen it's not about all the trappings is about him the Messiah the one himself Jesus members notice what he says in verse 22 which all are two pairs with the using talking about all the variant things after the commandments and doctrines of men not God which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will worship and humility but neglecting and neglecting of the body but not in any honor to the satisfying of the flesh in other words those things that people do and people come up with all kinds of things that if you don't do this this way then if you don't follow this Leicester thing this way if you don't do it that way then you can't be saved except except it's not God's Way he continues it in chapter 3 verse 1 if ye then being with Christ say these things have happened when he was raised we were raised when he died we died now that he's alive we're alive he's seated at the right hand of the throne of God and spiritually we are seated now at the right hand of God right next to God the Father the place of power in the universe the seat of all authority if ye be risen with Christ then what should we do seek those things which are above as opposed to all the touch not taste not what day's stuff all that but those things which are above where Christ will be the Anointed One sit upon the right hand of God set your affections the Greek word affection here means set your mind just what do you think set your mind on things above not on things of the earth so we can see the whole concept and remember who's right - he's right into the church he said in verse 4 when Christ who is our life shall appear then shall we also appear with him in doxa the work not summing that with this praiseworthy that's which is honorable in God hallelujah then it tells us in verse 5 just what we do mortify the work mortify means to consider dead consider that your members which upon the earth fornication sex out of marriage uncleanness strange affection evil concupiscence which is idolatry for which things sake the wrath of God come upon the children of disobedience now on next Wednesday I'll look at this in in some real detail because it says that the wrath of God happens it says there's a thing called the wrath of God and that it comes upon the children of disobedience amen in other words the Rathore trappings anger of God is out here but you don't have to ever experience it it was never intended for you God never made hell for it for a humankind hell was made for Lucifer Satan now he and the third of the Angels the Bible told us who rebelled bailed against God but God says now if you're going to follow Satan in his ways if you're gonna follow sin to death he said then you get to have the same thing that Satan gets and you get to operate under the wrath of God even though that's not his will but in order to escape the wrath of God you have to become children of obedience and children obedience are one first of all who receive the Messiah Jesus of Nazareth as we have read he cared your sins as we have read he got rid of the handwriting or toises or the law with no man could keep James tells us in the book of James it says if you commit one sin if you break the law one time James 2:10 you are guilty of all no man can keep keep the law he said it was contrary to us but he said praise God when you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life you now have been circumcised in your heart a new Christian in Christ Jesus you have become a child of in unrighteousness the term hope means they suppress the truth Jesus said in John 17:17 dire words the truth in other words the Bible is the truth so rather than receive the Bible they suppress the truth verse 19 because that which may be known of God is manifest in them it's a parent on the inside every man knows really inside that God is really there's a there's a whole sin about God's when they go to war they said there's no atheists in foxholes words man when things really get tough all that education out the man goes away and what you really know on the inside really stands up you know that God is praise the Lord well he says here the wrath of God free beer from heaven against all ungodliness unrighteousness men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness cause that which may be known of God has made apparent in them for God shouted unto him for the invisible things of God from the Krishna the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made even his eternal power and Godhead so that you are without excuse you know he said there he said man he said you know this God is he said you can see it in the sky you could see it in the trees you can see it in a mountaintop you can see it in nature he said you know this was not just some accident that happened you know you know there was a grand designer who designed everything God Almighty I won't forget one time I was in Alaska and I was in a tent up on the ice and I came out of that tent and I looked up that early that morning and I saw the these mountains in Alaska and I saw the Sun just cutting across those beautiful trees it was the most I still don't have words to explain how beautiful there's no doubt in my mind there was no way they were just some result of a bang or some accident that happened that man cannot explain let me tell you what it was it was a designer God Almighty you know there's God hallelujah and he chose to bring you salvation through one way Jesus Christ of Nazareth let's keep reading here verse 21 because that when they knew God they glorified him not as God neither were thankful but became vain emptied it means vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened well that word imagination means there for his God vain in their thinking's and in their discussions professing themselves to be wise they became fools they became they figured because they had PhDs that they were smart but they became fools and they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image like to corruptible man in other words man began the worst of himself and all the tools and things that he made of how brilliant he thinks he is and the birds and four-footed beasts and creeping things back in those days they did wherefore also God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own heart Dossett of you want it that's the way you want it have it that way to dishonour their own bodies between themselves and so the wrath of God is out here the wrath of God is available but you can get away from that by receiving God's love for God so loved you John 3:16 daddy gave His only begotten Son that who so believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life God wants you with him forever but the choice is yours and I told you earlier today how to do that and so by you hid with me if you have concluded today yes I want to receive the Messiah yes I want to receive Jesus as Lord then I want you to bow your head hit with me and pray with me now and let me lead you as you received a messiah pray with me now dear Heavenly Father that's right prove me out loud dear Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus I do believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God I believe he died for me hung on the cross for me carried my sins for me I believe he rose from that grave and he's alive right now coming to my heart Lord Jesus I accept you now as my savior I receive you as the highest authority of my life I repent of sin I'm sorry lord I accept your offer of forgiveness thank God I'm forgiven now thank God I'm cleanse now thank God I'm putting back in fellowship now heaven is my home jesus is my Lord hallelujah amen if you just
