[Music] in memphis tennessee and from auditoriums across america we present the bountiful blessings broadcast with bishop g e patterson our mission is to reach the universe of mankind with the glorious gospel of jesus christ admonishing them to receive the gift of his spirit to lift and nurture the total man as we expectantly await the second coming of our lord and savior jesus christ i command you to be healed be delivered be set free okay the big day is over christmas day now we've got to prepare to clean up and get ready to in our minds focus on what's really important now and that is the new year that is to come and it is important that we focus that our goal in life is to live again with god and in order to do that our lives have got to reflect the life that he wants us to live many of us know that we made mistakes hey you got a chance to do better god gives us chances so that we are able to not have any reason not to do it right get your list and just compare the things that you want to do better on this year along with you i'm asking god for the strength for some things i need to do better some things i'm going to do better so purpose in your mind to do some of those things that's going to make your walk with god a closer one let's go into today's message that's already in progress the psalmist whom we believe at this point also be david the superscription says that it is a psalm of david and we will not dispute that but he really talks about two categories of humankind he talks about the wicked and the righteous not now the one thing that you notice is that he opens this psalm without trying to prove to us that there is wickedness and that there are wicked people in the world he doesn't try to prove it he takes for granted that that we all know that there are in this world some wicked people there are evil doers there are people who are morally bad evil corrupt malicious and that wickedness is seen [Music] every day it is seen in those persons who would lie in wait to bring bodily harm injury and even death to innocent persons who are just minding their own business and the tragedy of it today is that hardly a week passes when victims of wicked people are not innocent children many times when adults found dead and brutally murdered people will say in their mind well yeah maybe something about this we don't know but you know there had to be something that this person was involved in but when you take a little innocent child kidnapped from the safety of his own neighborhood and from a playground and sometimes from their own home what could that child have done [Music] that would engage such conduct and and sometimes when we see the wickedness of evil people we become fretful but the psalmist said don't you worry about what wicked folk do don't let them get next to you and then he flips the coin and saying don't be envious against workers of iniquity first of all don't get upset over what they're trying to do to you and then on the other side don't see how some of them seemingly are living a trouble-free prosperous life don't look like anything is happening they're just floating along you having trouble and they're wicked and they're just floating along they got all the money they need they they live in the big house and drive the big car and they get the promotions on the job and before you know it you want to become envious or jealous of the way they live he said don't be on either side don't let them worry you and then don't want to be like them [Applause] well why he said because they shall soon. can i hear somebody say soon it may look like that evil men are going to triumph forever it may look like [Applause] wickedness is unbridled and can't be stopped it may look like that evil isn't going to ever be reckoned with it may look like that those who practice wickedness and iniquity are blessed while you are somehow held back but the psalmist said don't let that fool you they shall soon be cut down just like the grass and when they cut down you know when i was a little boy and and a teenager in detroit it wasn't like now young folk don't have to do anything but i knew when the autumn came and the leaves start falling i had to get the rake and rake the leaves i knew when the snow fell i had to get the snow shovel and shovel the snow and i knew that when the spring came and the dead ground became a green carpet of grass that i had to get the lawnmower and cut the grass and the thing about it if you cut it and sometimes in the heat of the day before that day was gone you could see it starting to dry up you could see it changing colors when the wicket is cut down it's not going to take him long for everything that he has done to wither now why could the psalmist say to you and to me fret not because of evil doers because if you flip it here we're looking at psalm 37 but put a bible marker there for a moment and turn the psalm 73. and here he tells you why he's able to give that kind of uh authoritative advice to you and me concerning the wicked you have psalm 73 come on let's read this together truly god is good to israel even to such as of clean heart but as for me my feet were almost gone my steps had well not slipped for i was envious at the foolish when i saw the prosperity of the wicked now come on he said he's i'm telling you don't don't let the wicked folk mess you up because it almost got next to me he said for there was no bands and that death in other words when they died they didn't seem to suffer that strength is firm they are not in trouble as other men neither are they plagued like other men therefore pride compasses them about as a chain violence covers them as a garment their eyes stand out with sadness and they have more than heart could wish so that they just prosperous wicked but prosperous they are corrupt and speak wickedly concerning oppression they speak loftily they set their mouth against the heavens and their tongue walk it through the earth therefore his people return hither and water of a full cup are rung out of them and they say how does god know in other words you know you're up here talking about god god don't know what i'm doing god don't care what i'm doing how does god know and is that knowledge in the most high behold these are the ungodly who prosper in the world they increase in riches and then listen to him verily i have cleansed my heart in vain wash my hands in innocence why have i done all of this to try to get my life straight when the wicked man can do his thing and keep on prospering he said for all the day long have i been plagued and chastened every morning if i say i will speak thus behold i should offend against the generation of thy children when i thought to know this it was too painful to me until until the wicked man had my mind messed up until i went into the sanctuary of god and then i understood that damn david said i was messed up and when i found out that what was happening with the wicked wasn't going to last always that's when i wrote to you fred nah and i think that there's some of us that's been through it some of us have been where some of you are some of you that's sitting here right now worried about the persons on your job that's plotting and scheming and worrying about this and worrying about that but i want you to know i've been there done that [Applause] but i don't have to worry about the wicked any longer he says a few things here about the wicked back to psalm 37 and i'm gonna i'm gonna cut this off here he says a number of things about the wicked but he also lets me know throughout this psalm that the end of the wicked is that he will be cut off verse 13 the lord shall laugh in him for he seeth that his day is coming there's a difference between what we seek from god and what the wicked will get we ask god to smile on us when god smiles that means you have his approval but don't let him laugh at you there's a difference when he smiles on you you have his favor but when he laughs that means you are the joke oh you don't hear what i'm saying here talks about what the wicked does verse 12 the wicked plot it against the just yeah it's true you mind in your business and the wicked is plotting on you scheming on you trying to trying to find a way to hurt you but the word of god keeps on saying that he is going to be cut off i don't even want to see said this one here in verse 21 he said a wicked borrow and pay it not again if i were writing this i could say not only does he not pay he doesn't even acknowledge that he owe you verse 35 look at it i have seen the wicked in great power spreading himself like a green bay tree and yet he passed away and lo he was not yeah i saw him i went looking for him he was spreading so his name was everywhere his name was on the schoolhouse his name was on the bank his name was in the newspaper his name was everywhere but i went looking for him and i couldn't find him why because he had been cut off so instead of fretting because of the wicked come on back to verse three what does he want you to do trust in the lord and do good don't worry about who's bringing wicked devices to pass his advice is you trust in the lord and do good so shall thou dwell in the land now notice he says the wicked is going to be cut off you're going to go looking for him and won't be able to find him but if you trust in the lord and do good you can dwell and the word dwell means to stay it's somehow god gives his folks staying power my god sometimes you can go to the doctor and and the doctor can talk about the situation in your body ten years later the doctor's gone all the folks that were walking around health are they gone you still here somebody says what's wrong with well you know got a little misery here but you still got staying power with your afflictions you're still here with all of your problems and all of the schemes that the enemy has wrought against you you're still here something about it god can give you staying power oh bless the name of the lord and then verse number 4 says delight [Applause] don't conform to the word of god with bitterness and conform to the word of god because i hate to do it but this is what the word says so i guess i'd better do it that way he said but no delight learn how to do what god says and enjoy it learn how to live according to his word and enjoy it delight thyself also in the lord oh i know the psalmist says that the lord will supply all of your needs yeah i believe it's the apostle paul my god shall supply philippians 4 19 all of your need according to his riches in glory god will give you what you need but he says if you delight yourself in him he'll not only give you what you need he'll give you the desires of your heart he'll not only give you what you need but if you learn to enjoy him he'll also give you what you want [Applause] commit thy way unto the lord trust also in him and he shall not he might not he's able but he shall bring it to pass what is that thing you've been asking god to do for you he shall bring it to pass hallelujah if it's that promotion he shall bring it to pass yes yes it doesn't matter how the enemy tries to stop it he shall bring it to pass glory to god i may not see it i may not feel it hallelujah but the lord said it and i know that if he said it he's gonna do just what he said that's somebody next to you remember that thing you told god you wanted this year you can start praising him because he shall bring it to pass and then i'm gonna close with verse seven rest i like that word instead of fretting because of evildoers instead of getting upset because of the evildoers plots instead of getting bent out of shape because of what the wicked is doing tossing and turning and walking the floor in the middle of the night understand that my confidence is in god and it doesn't matter what the devil's scheme is i'm going to rest in the lord yeah when you can't rest on that new mattress when you can't rest in that new house when you can't rest in that new position tell the devil get out of my way because whatever i have god gave it to me and i'm just going to enjoy it and i'm going to rest rest in the lord and then he said what and we patiently for him fear not fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass don't even worry about it uh oh i'm gonna let that go i'm gonna deal with a little bit more at 11 o'clock but oh you don't have to worry about the enemies plots against you don't be that fretful baby whining and crying about what the enemy is trying to do to you i tell you when god is fire he's more than the whole world against you [Applause] if god is on your side what can the enemy do i even like the way uh paul says that there in romans 16 and 20. he says that the god of peace is going to bruise satan under your heel shortly in other words it won't be long [Music] you've been suffering at the hand of the enemy long enough [Applause] it won't be long [Applause] before god turns things around it won't be long before you see the desire of your heart realize yeah it won't be long [Music] just tell five people it won't be long it won't be long [Applause] prepare yourself now for communion go and get your wafer and your grape juice and join us as we commune with the saints hallelujah oh god as we come before your presence this morning to partake of this your broken body and to drink of your shed blood we want to thank you that all of the promises of god hours through the sufferings of jesus christ lord had it not been for you we would still be at odds with the father but it is through thee through your broken body and your shed blood that we are reconciled because god was in christ reconciling the world unto himself oh god as we eat today as you change the use of this unleavened bread from its common use to its special use as you transform this the fruit of the vine from its regular use to its special use today let us eat of your body and drink of your blood and let us examine ourselves for your word says examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith but for fear we may have missed something we say with the psalmist lord such our hearts hallelujah oh god even as the songwriter said shine the light from heaven upon our souls you find anything that shouldn't be take it out and remove it because we want to be right hallelujah yeah yeah yeah yeah forgive every sin and blot out every transgression in the name of jesus and we thank you and we thank you and we thank you amen and amen [Music] yes the same night in which jesus was betrayed he took bread and when he was given thanks he break it and said take eat this is my body which is broken for you shall we of our lord broken body [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] i took the cup said unto them that this is the new testament in my blood as often as we do eat of the lord's broken body and drink of his shed blood we do show forth his death till he comes again shall we drink of our lords [Music] do you have your list pay attention to it internalize
