everybody today we're going to talk about the College of Swords Bard I'm going to show you guys later on because I know some of you guys don't want spoilers I'm going to show you guys later on where to find um an item that enables this class to actually perform decently but uh we're also going to talk about this class in its totality because I think it's a little fun of a class they're arranged they're melee they can talk to people they know some magic so really they're they're literally the master of everything class they do everything they don't do anything particularly well they're also kind of squishy but they are uh pretty much okay above average at every single thing in the game so you would start with Bard you do your can trips your spells your certain instruments your abilities I went with 16 14 10 10 16 dumping down strength now you can obviously um go into wisdom because wisdom is more saving throws I did this because I don't like to think of my Bard is dumb he's just not particularly intelligent I did a plus two plus one here to get both these to 16. um yeah uh I went drought just because I wanted to be a drow now if you are a drought eventually you will get fairy fire fairy fire I've found to not exactly be the best spell anyway so the Spells I went with was healing word that's a bonus action heal I found that to be extremely useful basically in every single situation I um really I really didn't a healing word is actually just extremely useful basically everywhere Bane is pretty useful but I often don't use it Thunder Wave is extremely useful it's a good knockback um you can do a lot with it uh particularly in the game you can knock people away from you before you're that tanky you can uh try to AOE you can get rid of packs of enemies you can knock people uh into abysses things like that um from what I understand Thunder Wave also seems to hit well above its weight so whereas a strength player might have issues pushing people Thunder Wave is magical and doesn't really care how big people are or anything like that I also went with distant Whispers although I've never actually used it because being able to fear meaning rude people seemed like it would be pretty good for a starting instrument I went with hand drum and loot depending on how I was feeling that day that was my level one that said just I started into it I'm just gonna go through the levels here uh really quick just to show you guys um I'm only like level seven so I don't think I'm spoiling everything I'll just go up to level three to show you guys a college of um swords well I could show you six but the spell once again this doesn't really matter we're just you can replace a spell in and out at level three this is when you get um College of Swords so you can choose your subclass here um so what you're gonna do here is going to choose College of Swords now you can turn your bardic Inspirations instead into a special attack so once again these spells I found that the best spell by far was heat metal um as of right now until level six you only get one attack now that is something worth noting uh in the two weapon fighting or the dueling you can do whatever you want you can do whatever you like I prefer dueling because once you start attacking twice at level six that plus two on hit will hit twice but he's only get one bonus action to double swing um you can double attack with dueling which both get the plus two hit that also keeps your bonus action free I I'm just constantly popping up heels to bring people back up off the ground do stuff like that so basically College of Swords is pretty good um I really like that one that one's pretty solid uh I have to level up my character so I'll just go through this real quick so you can see we do not get much health per level um we we just we don't get much health per level it can be uh pretty pretty brutal now if you do get your charisma at 18 some people have done this you can do 18 decks and just try to hit people or you can do 18 Charisma and the build is you just repeatedly try to hold person on people then whack away at them the next turns because they'll be stunned um I prefer just going up in decks because I'm gonna be honest whole person is a bit orangey it could be strong and it can be useful on those super high tough enemies but if it fails it can be a bit bad and it's pretty easy to break the concentration of it I'm not too far in the campaign don't think that I'm gonna do I'm gonna I'm not gonna make you guys look through like 12 different levels so level five your Bardock inspiration dice go to a d8 instead of a D6 which does affect your attacks and it means instead of recovering your Bardock inspiration on a short rest at level five you now recover your Bardock inspiration I say instead of recovering only about a conservation on Long rest you now recover it on a short list I'm gonna explain to you what that means uh really quick here so if you're interested I know I've been going through the levels here I'm gonna I'm gonna try to [Music] I'm gonna try to just get through here so level six we now have our bonus attack okay good do I did I yeah okay we're only level six okay so once you're level five you can see here um my melee attack my defensive flourish now rolls an additional d8 damage that helps you keep Pace with people like the Battle Master Warriors and stuff like that so you can output similar yet not as good damage as a Battle Master Warrior but is be if you put your dexterity up you can also shoot people with range so you can do a slashing flourish shoot two enemies for a bardic dice and do your regular range damage plus a d8 so you can do melee you can do range of 16 Charisma so you've got all these support spells right here you can also try to use your bartic inspiration allies but I found that too not exactly be the best use of my Bardock Inspirations I only have four per short rest so I've generally found that it's better um reasonably I would say that it's better to use that butter inspiration on your attacks particularly because your melee defensive flourish if it hits an enemy you get four AC now if it misses you don't use your buttock inspiration so don't worry about that but if you do hit you get four AC this can push you very high up on the regular difficulty because this can make you all but unhittable by the AI on the tactician difficulty you'll still be hittable but you'll be able to tank a good bit more now College of Swords Bard I I don't play the DND tabletop so I I tried to look into some of the differences there are some differences and some of the ones that haven't translated into the game have made this class weaker but overall on the tabletop this was already considered considered a middling to weak subclass to begin with um doing basically everything but specializing in nothing it can be seen as a bit weak now there are some advantages from the tables up but there are some disadvantages for those who who have played the tabletop one instead of rolling your AC based on the amount of dice you get bonus AC4 always four on the tabletop it depends on how much damage you rolled if you rolled two damage you get two AC if you rolled 8 damage you get eight EC this also means that when you're only rolling a D6 you still get four for your AC this makes it a bit more consistent and means that defensive flower um consistently keeps you alive rather than if you roll a two you only get two so you get hit and if you roll an eight you're all but unhittable uh basically it means you're a bit more consistent than on the tabletop now the downside is on the tabletop your flourishes make you move 10 more feet in game this doesn't exist so The Bard College of Swords will have some issues getting into range because the primary way for melee characters to get into range that I found is a jump but you have no strength so you can't really jump do you see the problem all the other melee characters are jumping around jumping high jumping mode jumping around you can't do that so the problem is you're gonna need a good melee weapon and you're gonna need a good range weapon because you will often find yourself in a position where you can use range but if you don't have a good range weapon it's not gonna be that great now I did say there is one issue here the thing is for so I think this is an oversight um you can use one of your flourishes one of your product Inspirations to attack two enemies with a melee hit this rolls a D6 the ranged version that hits two people rolls a d8 this is at level five when you're when your Bardock dice goes from a D6 to a d8 I think that's a bug and that'll probably be fixed at some point because I can't really imagine why they would do that but okay um it's probably an issue especially because this this slashing flourish melee does piercing damage on the bonus side rather than slashing so I I think they just broke it I think that'll probably be fixed now um something to keep in mind the knockback the mobile flourish and knocks your enemies back then you teleport to them I'm gonna be honest I've never actually gotten the teleport to work so that's another issue from the tabletop but what this does mean is hypothetically because this game is lots of chasms like this lots of things like that because it ignores how big your opponent is this gives you the ability to knock opposing creatures down like this getting good falling damage ignoring how big they are and getting in some good uh hits like that now the problem is you can only use a few weapons you're a bard of Swords you don't have great weapons so you do get scimitars but scimitars are a 1d6 they're not really great so maintaining a scimitar you will be doing dramatically lower damage than a warrior the developers seem to know this and they seem to understand that The Bard is not exactly great the the College of Swords Bard is having some issues maybe eventually the home brews and Buffs to them for now what they did do and the reason I went here is to show you if you go up right here on the map so I'm at the making noise Colony uh this is what I'm going to show you guys again items if you don't want spoilers just look away right now it's easy to miss though and it's extremely important to make The Bard actually a usable character um it's a significant increase to their damage to find this magic weapon so if you go up here um oh boy it's like really hidden even for me and I know where it is yes right here if you go over here you can find a Sword in the Stone this is an ancient drow blade a strength check takes it out so you might need a strength character but it's pretty hidden you can see that even I might not know where this Grove is so if you're going down you would just go right down and it would pass right through it you might think that this pass right here is just aesthetic that it doesn't do anything it does and there's a sword here and it's only a long sword so it's pretty hard to find and it's easy to Miss Even if you run right past it that sword is the Fowler aloof the draw inscription on this blade appears to have been recently carved it translates to though I have to leave you I will Dance Forever in Ellis Strays light I don't play the tabletop don't sue me anyway this is a performance plus one long sword that has finesse on it so instead of having a d8 scimitar you get a d or sorry D6 Scimitar you get a d a long sword with plus one with Fowler aloof Melody now this is a special action you can take if you're wielding this weapon it is extraordinarily powerful it is it is actually extraordinarily powerful you can choose one of two options one of them is weaker one of them is stronger I'll go over the weaker one the sword sings A Melody all allies within six meter range have a one D4 bonus to attack rolls and Charisma wisdom and intelligence saving throws it's not bad I'm not saying it's bad it could certainly come in a good situation if a cover is on short rest and requires a full action to perform um it goes around you even if you're downed even if you're forced to drop the weapon the weapon is singing and it will sing for five turns so it can't be stopped you can't break the concentration all they could do is potentially disarm you then knock you away which I don't think any AI would ever be able to do not really the second option is the short the sword shrieks all enemies within six meter of range have one D4 penalty to Crystal wisdom intelligence saving throws this allows you to debuff people easier and affected creatures receive an extra D4 Thunder damage from everything forever if you hit them with an attack they take a D4 Thunder if you hit them with a spell they take a D4 Thunder if you hit them with a bomb they take a D4 Thunder they don't take it from a damage over time effect though that is uh unfortunately that's the one thing that they don't uh take so um the best use of this that I've seen is you turn this on go next to an enemy then have your wizard do magic missiles because every single magic Missile will proc it so if even if you shoot them with a rank one magic Missile that's one two three hits that do a D4 D4 D4 plus one for the magic Missile damage then another D4 D4 D4 from The Sword additionally now this is more of a wizard thing so if you don't want to do this you don't have to do this I'm not even going to show you where to find it I'm just showing you if you do get it if you do get the um magic Missile amulet psychic missiles shoot an additional dark whenever you cast magic missiles and it gives you a free magic Missile to use now this necklace is very very good um for Mages just overall but in particular shooting four magic missiles at a rank one and you get an additional free magic Missile per long rest means that your wizard can combo with your sword of uh your college of Swords uh Bard to be quite powerful now you might have noticed I was talking about the lack of movement now this will be the last item I recommended I'm only recommending this um I'm trying to keep this a bit open-ended you guys can do what you want if you want to or not want to do something for fun um that's fun that's what I should say it's fine but there's crusher's ranked movement speed plus three I'm gonna recommend this because College's swords Bard can have some uh movement issues now if you go to the goblin camp this one is a bit weird it seems intended by the developers who do this but uh I can't obviously reset I mean I I could but um if we go here there's Crusher you fight Crusher and you beat him and it doesn't aggro the goblin Camp unless you kill him so after you beat Crusher here you pick a fight with him he's a bit racist so you can feel good about beating him up now you can be racist back towards him it's whatever he's just a goblin now he will run after you beat him the camp will make fun of him for losing and he will run over here now once Crusher is over here you can kill him he's level three so you could do this pretty easy as a party just make sure nobody aggroes the rest of the camp and you go over here you kill Crusher and you can take his ring that ring gives you three movement speed that's all I'm gonna recommend I'm not gonna recommend any other items and ruin you guys is fun um I would just recommend those two because College of Swords Bard has a bit of mobility issues and obviously they have a bit of damage issues that could make people if you're playing in multiplayer question if your class is really that good Fowler aloof Melody is extraordinarily powerful as an ability and everyone will love you particularly the earlier in the game you get it they will love you the Mage will love you because he will suddenly be able to do good damage before level five um both of these are pretty easily achievable at level three but if you're playing on tactician getting through the minotaurs might be a bit difficult I'm not going to help you on that you guys got to figure that one out so uh that's this video that's College of Swords bar the Jack of all trades they give you a free short rest to your party they get good rain they get good melee with Fowler aloof they get uh pretty good debuffing or buffing if you want to use it for that they get a pretty good utility they've got everything they're the Jack of all trades but master of none but also very squishy but also they don't do much damage but also you you probably just want to bring something else class but they do do some good stuff so thank you all for watching thank you for being here try the College of Swords Bard if you're interested in a character like that thank you
