morning friends good morning family welcome welcome praise the lord good morning to all of those that are tuning in online we are preparing to enter the presence of god would we stance our feet let the church stand up do you have a praise in your heart this morning do you have a press in your spirit this morning church for we are the ecclesia the called out once and we're here to give you praises god hallelujah hallelujah god we give you the highest praises we open up our mouths and we open up our lips and we bless you today god for you are worthy heavenly father we thank you thank you to be able to come into your presence and we don't take it lightly god we don't take it likely that we're able to come and commune in your holy presence individually and corporately god thank you thank you for your grace that is sufficient thank you for your great grace your grace that left all of the privileges of heaven and chase after us when we were far from you god when we didn't know you when we didn't desire you god now help us to operate with that same capacity to go into the world loving others that don't know you god god we're in the world but you call us and tell us to be not of the world and now the times is more trying and testing than ever and now more than ever we need to be exhibitors of great hope so we gather today to be filled god to be filled with your presence to be rewired into the word to be living expressions of the word here in the earth realm and as we're living in the temporal we're thanking you as you're helping us to keep our minds fixed on the eternal forgive us god we do get caught up living for the day living for the job and providing but this is not permanent and we tend to value and make the greater uh we give the greater to what's temporary but let's help but today let us begin to acknowledge and give the eternal our best us to live with the convictions like here we're in the world but there is an end help us to live for the day of harvest god help us to live day to day with that in our mind because you're soon coming you're soon coming and the world they don't believe and they don't know but we do this is why we're gathered today to know you to grow more in you to be more dependent upon you and not the world god not the world show us what it looks like to walk in close relationship with you in this hour hearing from heaven and doing based on what we hear based on the faith that that arises that arises in us cause great works to come out of your church in this our god and we bless you god let's bless the lord let's open up our mouth and praise him the presence of god wants to show up and show out well we welcome him y'all welcome him glory to your name hallelujah good morning family in the house online and abroad the devil is a liar god is exalted and we will never be defeated do you believe that yes the devil is a liar god is exalted we'll never be defeated and we're going to worship him from a place of victory this morning that's our eternal perspective because we have victory through christ jesus our lord and our savior so we're going to sing about his victory we're going to sing about his power and his goodness on this morning you ready to do that hallelujah thank you lord lg you're perfect i will open oh oh oh jesus he will take us into the land afraid oh of judah he's the root and the offspring of david is judah yes he'll break every chain and will give to us the victory he'll give it again he'll break every chain and give to us oh oh do you believe he's wonderful do you believe he's powerful do you believe he's giving you the victory this is the victory even our faith that's overcoming the world we thank you lord thank you for victory in christ jesus our savior and our lord who's big who's strong who's mighty there's nobody like him hallelujah thank you father for victory you're so big and so strong you're bigger than our circumstances and situations so even in the midst of it we praise you and we glorify you because we serve a big guy we serve a big big god you're hallelujah bigger than any problem is oh point to yourself and say to me oh cause he's my god is he's he holds the ocean in his hand he's got the whole world in his hands he hopes the ocean he's my fortress the righteous can run there's nothing my god cannot do nothing's do you have an impossibility in your life whatever it is there's power in the name of jesus there was power in the name of jesus we believe your word this morning god we believe your worth he is my on refuge i stand he's my fortress my god he is my light holds the ocean his hands if he holds the ocean he holds me too right he's my god my god he is because he's a strong guy because he's hallelujah come on give him some praise this morning come on if you know you serve a big guy come on just give him some glory lift him high this morning celebrate your king there's nothing your god can't do praise your jesus bless you jesus jesus come on give the lord a shout right there right there come on act like he already won the victory for you act like you already got the victory right there hallelujah act like he already delivered you and like he already saved you act like you already saved your son and he saved your daughter act like he already healed your body act like he already healed your marriage come on there's nothing your god cannot do thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus hallelujah thank you jesus hallelujah we are preparing to take communion to receive communion this morning uh if you're watching online we ask you to prepare and just get your your elements your drink and your bread if you're here you can be seated and wave your hands and the ushers will serve you there's nothing there's nothing our god cannot do there's nothing i cannot do there's nothing that god cannot do i'm excited because i'm expecting people have been asking me how you doing elder mike and i just tell them i'm expecting hallelujah how your wife doing elder mike she's expecting hallelujah we're expecting a miracle i said we're expecting a miracle i said we're harming us anybody else expecting god to win the miracle in your life come on there's nothing your god can't do give them a shout right there thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus hallelujah you can praise him in advance you can praise him before the battle is over the hawkins wrote a song years ago don't wait till the battle is over shout now he said don't wait till till you see the victory you declare the victory before it happens hallelujah hallelujah there's nothing hallelujah there's nothing our god cannot do so i want to read this scripture for you revelations chapter 12. keep it there keep it right there this revelations chapter 12 verse 10 and 11 there's nothing our god cannot do there's nothing our god cannot do so here's the word of the lord then i heard a loud voice saying in heaven now salvation and strength and the kingdom of our god and the power of his christ has come for the accuser of our brethren who accused them before our god day and night has been cast down there's nothing our god cannot do and they everybody say that's me and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb i will read that one more time and they overcame him that accuser we overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony come on just wait your hand if you got a testimony in here today that god has brought you out he delivered you he's healed you come on wave your hand if he's kept you you have a testimony and they did not love their lives to the death that's the hard part they were willing to sacrifice we're willing to sacrifice our life we don't love our life so much that we're not willing to die for the king because we know that when this life is over we shall wear a cry glory somebody say glory thank you jesus father we thank you would you lift up your your cup and your bread today hallelujah lord we bless these elements as we prepare to receive them we thank you right now hallelujah we bless the bread that we are about to receive in the name of jesus it represents your body which was broken for us you were wounded for our transgressions thank you you were bruised for our iniquities thank you would you tell them thank you you were wounded for our transgressions uh every time we lied every time we stole every time we cheated every time we mistreated somebody lord you were wounded for our transgressions you were bruised for our iniquities every time we hated sown somebody every every time we showed prejudice every time we were envious and every time we were jealous you were bruised for all the stuff that was in us thank you jesus thank you for your body lord what you sacrifice for us so we bless this bread that as we partake of it we would declare would you say after me lord because you died for me i present my body as a living sacrifice for you and i'm willing i'm willing to lay down my life for the kingdom the body of jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus there's nothing there's nothing like god cannot do hallelujah would you take your drink this morning father we bless this drink that we're about to receive the blood it is the blood of jesus we thank you for it now know that as you impart your spirit into these elements as we protected them we would receive the strength we will receive the power to live a life lord that brings you glory in the name of jesus we thank you lord because you have forgiven us we can forgive those who have mistreated us because you have forgiven us we can forgive those lord who have lied on us who have abused us who have forsaken us we we can forgive those who have harmed us so we thank you now would you hold your drink up and say lord i thank you for all you have done because you shed your blood for me thank you and now because you have died for me and shed your blood for me and by your blood you have forgiven me i will forgive those who have mistreated me in the name of jesus the blood of jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives unto death i want to encourage you that if there's some area of your life even that you're struggling with some area of your life that you don't seem to be able to get the victory over holy spirit just encourage me this morning to let you know that you can spend time every day you receive communion in your home and begin to thank god for the power that the blood of god represents in your life take it every day so that you can overcome whatever situation you're in he says they overcame by the blood of the lamb and i'm looking forward to hearing your testimony give the lord a praise give the lord a praise you can rest on your feet again as we sing this response song thank you god he takes us from faith to faith and glory to glory victory and victory victory thanks be unto god who always causes us to triumph who always causes us to win thank you god when i think about the goodness and all he's done for me my soul cries thank you god for saving me i would have been the one you would have come after i thank you lord for your love for me me you put me in a place you are the reason you are the reason so we lift our voice and sing hallelujah you have one hallelujah your power was too great for you victory belongs to you death wasn't strong enough for you is could not hold you oh down seated in majesty sing yes as we were singing that and we were repeating the death could not hold you down you are the risen king you're seated in majesty we're singing about him but we're also singing about ourselves we've got to catch the revelation of that we're seated in heavenly places with christ jesus we're resurrected with christ jesus death whatever death situations are in your life they can't hold you down either we're creating in this image and his likeness and everything that he accomplishes we're supposed to do the greater works so death couldn't hold him down guess what it can't hold us down either the physical death the natural death death to situations dreams ideas none of that can hold us down we're at a place of rest remember that we're more than conquerors through christ jesus so we're gonna sing that part again and i want you to sing it from that vantage point a place of victory a place in victory because just like the death couldn't hold him down it ain't holding you down either because you're getting up you're getting up you're getting up you're getting up with all power in your hands too because that's what he's created for us as well huh glory to god hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah yes death could not hope that could not hold and i'm right there next to you hallelujah laugh in his face because you are come on one more time you are the and i find my victory in you forever victorious forever we win i find my victory i find my victory jehovah jireh meets my knees my victory cause victory belongs to jesus victory belongs to him victory belongs to chief victory no matter what it looks like we can spare and declare that victory belongs yes it does victory victory jesus you are the rhythm me death could not hold you down you are the reason father it's in the name of jesus the victorious name of jesus the resurrected name of jesus the name that you've given us the strong tower that we run into and find safety jesus that we gather today god we thank you for the eternal thoughts the internal plans the eternal purpose that you have in mind for us today and god i pray that the word of god falls on good ground today hearts that of a good and honest report ready to receive retain and bring fruitfulness from the word of god we speak to every enemy of the plan of god today in the name of jesus god we declare that we shall be what you have said we shall do what you have purposed and we shall bring great glory to you as your church in this day and age god i pray again as the word of god is preached that it is received on good ground hearts of a good and honest report that are ready to receive and retain and bring great fruitfulness to the word of god preach we believe we receive all that heaven has in mind for us now by faith in the mighty name of shout his name about five years ago uh in 2016 in the midst of one of the most divided election cycles that we've experienced here in the united states and uh many would would say that it was a time that ushered in a a polarity and a tribalism that we have not really seen much of in an overt way in the united states in the midst of that when islamophobia anti-semitic uh behavior and even christian tribalism was at its high it was in the midst of that moment that we began something here in this region called diverse but not divided and our our intent was to be an otherworldly witness and represent representation of what the church of jesus christ looked like although we come from different ethnicities although we come from different uh philosophies of ministry uh and even though we also come from different points on the theological spectrum we decided by the spirit of god that we wanted to show a kingdom representation of what the church looked like in this region now today was it was a pivotal day for us actually we put together today for the very first time an organizing statement around what we all could agree on that we believed we also put together an organizing statement about what our behavior and our conduct would look like as followers of jesus christ presented that to a room of about 10 pastors and to a man i think they all agreed that this was a document that they would pray over give thought to but they thought that they could sign and uh while you might not realize the significance of that yet if the prayer that jesus prayed in john 17. that his church would be united that we would be one that when that way people would know that god loves us that god loves them that that we are of god that the glory of god might be seen on us because the the world has seen tribalism they've seen people unified under elephants they've seen people unified under donkeys they've seen people unified under liberalism and progressiveness and and conservatism but what they have not seen is people that vote differently people that fry their chicken differently people that eat pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie but what they haven't seen is those people come together in the name of jesus and despite those differences be able to love beyond a love that transcends difference and shows that we are united as one in the body of jesus and and it is my high honor today uh and i hope yours too perfecting church to welcome our our first cousins from around the corner uh because keystone fellowship church has joined us here today and uh keystone would y'all stand up and keep ya and uh and um you got to understand that when they asked jesus how to pray jesus uh said to them when you pray say our father i don't know how many fathers are in the house but nothing makes a father or a mother more excited than to see unity in their homes and in their families i just want you to get your expectations up today because god is excited when those that love the bass drum and those that love the acoustic guitar are together in the same place he's excited about that he's excited when when we might lay down our preferences and prefer one another over our preferences so i want to invite pastor matt pillar to join me on the stage i want to introduce him to y'all and uh and uh i just want matt to show you a little bit about uh what diverse but not divided is to him and just share a little bit why he shows the incredible courage most pastors don't want to take their churches anywhere you know they only want to take them around the might something might get on them or they might they might leave or they might believe something and they have to work a year to try but but he brought his congregation here amen and uh and i made fun of them today should i tell them yeah don't tell them all right i ain't going to tell the joke but matt oh well i i told kevin uh we originally had three we actually meet out in the park we are in this kind of like post-covet nomadic stage of our church life right now so we meet out in the park and there were originally going to be three weeks that we were not going to have access to the park and uh we had three ideas for what we could do with each of those three weeks and one of them was to jump on board uh with all of you and worship alongside you and we were very excited about that so it turned out that there was only one week that we didn't have access to the park so we picked what i believed and what our teams believed was the highest priority out of all of those three and decided to take that week to come and and be with all of you because what what our but my heart is for my congregation and for you and i think kevin likewise is that as we just continue to develop more proximity to one another and more intimacy with one another that our congregations would begin to experience that as well because we want the congregations to have that which kevin and i have and that which we are beginning to experience on an even deeper level as we go forward in the future so and let me just tell you this is i'm just going to say this this is the biggest threat to the corrupt systems of this world the biggest threat there is no i say this to our congregation all the time there is no alternative salt of the earth that's good there's no alternative salt like if we abdicate our responsibility to any other entity or any other institution then we have given up our own the power that god says lies within us because of the authority of jesus christ and we have given it to a system that has no power and an institution that has no power and asking them to fight spiritual battles on our behalf that so so what diverse but not divided means to me and and to kevin is this is this is a dream yeah this is and and you know listen i always think when when jesus came onto the scene one of the things that was said about him is can anything good come from nazareth and when when kevin and i got together and then we started adding to our numbers of pastors one of the things that came into my mind is that people might say can anything good come from south jersey can can something like this shouldn't something like this happen like you know in midtown manhattan somewhere or like you know in l.a or some big city and you know what we're outside of a big enough city and we're in south jersey and what if god was to start a movement that slowly began to transform our region right here in south jersey so so yes something good can come from the burbs we i i'm convinced that god wants to do something incredible and i don't even think my dreams have captured the heart of god yet and i don't think ours have together so uh what this means to me is a promise that god is still at work that god is moving uh what this means to me is that there is hope uh not only for the church but for our nation and i am convinced that god wants to do something not just good and not just he wants to do something beautiful he wants to do something that is that that you can that the smell of which is an aroma of sweetness to our souls and to the world and something that the world can look to and say oh that's what we've been trying to do what are we missing and then we could say what you're missing is the name of so there it is my brother hey glory to god glory to god lord i uh i think one of the most incredible things about the relationship that matt and i share and and i i share matt's sentiment i hope the relationship that y'all learn and shares we don't agree on everything matt and i have been had long conversations for for years and in some areas we we just don't agree uh but we love each other i mean legit like we have a resilient love for each other we might go without talking to each other for like seven or ten days and then like all right let me let me call this guy you know but but and um matt's a great leader um passionate he really loves jesus and um and he's leading a beautiful church and i'm grateful that he's got the humility to say kevin i'm going to bring my congregation they're going to sit with your congregation i just can't exaggerate that enough how significant that is and i pray you get your expectation up today that god might do something significant among us not so we can brag and tell about what he did but that he might be glorified that he might be exalted that we might be humbled that more grace might flow through our lives if you've got your bible we to run and join me if you would in the book of second corinthians we're going to pick up where we were last week chapter 4. when you get there run your finger down to verse 16. second corinthians chapter 4. if you would meet me in verse 16. when you get there just shout amen it's like 19 people so when the rest of you all get there just shout amen glory i had the the mind to speed ahead to the next portion of this series um i i laid the foundation that the lord gave me to lay lay and just painted a picture of what the new heaven and the new earth looked like and while there's so much more that i could do there i i hope that you left those first few weeks of this series uh with the beginning of a a realization that wow somehow my hopes seem more attached to this world than they are to the world to come i hope that you left believing that uh and and with with an understanding that the new heaven and the new earth won't be spiritual fat babies with with our bow and arrows and their hands floating around and we'll just be in perpetual church service forever that's not what the scriptures paint a picture of the new heaven and the new earth will be the resurrection of life as jesus intended from the beginning it'll be resurrected people it'll be a resurrected earth we'll be living in a world with no more sorrow no more tears no more death no more pain for the former things have passed away we don't serve a god that that gives up on his plans we serve a god that accomplishes what he sets out to do the next couple of weeks i endeavor to define what an eternal perspective is and i thought i was completing that and was ready to move on to what it looks like to apply an eternal perspective to different areas of our life but as i was studying god stopped me and said go back and go back to what i was ministering last week and go slow through those three takeaways because god wants us to have an eternal perspective in our day-to-day lives the day-to-day things that touch us the day-to-day things that confront us the day-to-day things that confound us god wants us to have an otherworldly view of what's happening right in view of us god wants his church to be people that come to not only see things differently but usher in different things it's with that thought in mind that i titled this message today with the holy spirit's help beyond the inside out life beyond the inside out life and i just want to go back quickly and talk about the three things that we took away from last week because last week if you remember the big idea last week was that we are going to have to become physically blind if we're going to be able to live with an eternal perspective i wasn't suggesting that i was hoping we would lose our physical sight what i was suggesting what i believe the scriptures were suggesting that we need to embrace the fact that what we see is not all there is in fact what we see is not even what it is so we have to develop the ability to have physical blindness so that we can see things the way god sees things are you ready for this father be with us as we enter into your word holy spirit be the teacher that only you can be would you dismantle strong holds and ways of thinking and seeing that have locked us into this temporary decaying world although we are your eternal image bearers god i pray that somehow by the work of the spirit and the work of your living word that our everlasting doors will be open today and that we would be used as portals as it were to usher in the king of glory into everyday situations everyday circumstance jesus we realize now that you don't want to make just one triumphal entry at the end of this age but you want to triumphantly enter into moments in our lives circumstances in our lives and in this world throughout this age so cause us to see ourselves as you do give us renewed minds renewed thought renewed perspective that we might truly usher in the king of glory for your joy and our great delight for your glory and our great delight we pray this all in the name of last week there were three takeaways and over the next few weeks i'm going to work through every one of those takeaways and just take our time and break it open is that all right with you and i think they're going to throw these three takeaways up here so last week our three takeaways were if this is the kind of blindness that we have to develop we have to stop seeing one way so that we can see the eternal way we we must stop seeing all setbacks as lost if we are to see the hand of god ordering our steps we must stop seeing through eyes of comfort and convenience if we are to see through a heart that hears and obeys and we must stop seeing through the eyes of immediate gratification if we are to see the role god has given us in his eternal plans so this week we're going to go deep on this first one that we are going to allow god to tutor and mentor and impart into us reveal truth so that we can stop seeing all setbacks and interruptions to what we thought was going to go down as as lost so that or we can see the hand of god does anybody want to see the hand of god ordering their steps in their lives well let's let's dive into that now meet me at second corinthians chapter 4 and find with me verse 16. this is the only verse we're preaching from today therefore we do not lose heart even though our outward man is perishing yet the inward man is being renewed day by day i mentioned this thought before i want to set it up as the as the thought that's going to help cascade into everything i think today will be like an eye solve on our eyes as revelation says that would cause us to see what we were not seeing anybody in agreement with that hope today but but but as i said before as long as we see all setbacks and i'll just add this in and interruptions as lost we are going to live a life struggling to see the hand of god ordering our steps and god wants us to see our lives and see this world as the sovereign god providentially entering into human history and ordering our steps this is what god wants us to see how many of you have had experiences in your life where you've lost hope because you thought god was going to do it one way and when he did it another way you thought you had missed god you thought i had disobeyed god you thought god was no longer for me why is god against me and the setback and the interruption caused us to miss the rhythm and the fluidity in which we were walking with god am i the only one i was just talking to a dear pastor brother today that i serve and support him as pastor and and an affliction came into their lives and it tried to rob their peace and caused his family to say what did we do that this would have happened to us what did we miss why would god have allowed this to happen to us and when these micro traumas happen in our lives over and over and over again and we conclude wrongly and see wrongly over time our hearts get callous to a yes and an amen over time when we used to respond whatever you would have me to do god we now step back and say i'm not sure what you want me to do god and if we're going to live in the age that god has placed us in from an eternal perspective isaiah says that the days would be dark he said that gross darkness would cover the earth and the people but the glory of god will be seen upon us if the glory of god is going to be seen on the church then we got to get out of a temporal perspective and move to an eternal perspective here's a definition of setback as if you needed it defined is an event that delays your progress it's an event that reverses some of the progress that you feel that you have made anybody experienced any setbacks in 2021 a setback is an event in our life that that interrupts or impedes or delays our progress it's something that we see as reversing the progress that we have made here we are the church of jesus christ and maybe one of the most significant setbacks that they've ever experienced globally i just learned this week that that now coronavirus and whatever they're calling the other thing has now exceeded the amount of people that died during the spanish flu and and now it's the most deaths that have ever happened due to a global pandemic and here we are the church in this moment god in his infinite wisdom looked down for who he could dispatch that would live during this moment to represent him and his kingdom and he said i picked kevin i picked matt i i picked mary what's your name shout your name out i picked and he said i picked them to be my ambassadors and to represent me in this moment in the history of the world in the history of america and the history of the church and paul recognizes something here that we've got to grab and get hold of it is something that we've got to understand and walk in if we are going to be able to walk in the will and the plans of god in the day and age which he's chosen for run back the second corinthians 4 16 with me and see this it says therefore we do not lose heart even though our outward man is perishing yet the inward man is being renewed day by day even though the outward man is what the inward man is how often this word perishing here in the greek is a a multi-syllable greek word it is deaf therate no test on this at the end it's it's the greek word death therate actually this this greek word that paul is using here because the bible was written in coin greek this greek word that he's using here even though our outward man is perishing it's a word that has a fuller description than the original thought it actually says even though our outward man is being brought to decay it's the picture more of an active verb at work doing something paul had a revelation that i don't lose heart because i realize that even though the outward things are being brought to decay the inward man somebody shout the inward man is being renewed day by day now as i said last week a quick surface thought would say oh yeah he's talking about aging and as we age of course all of us lose some of our vitality we lose some of our ability and we lose some of our dexterity uh we can't remember where we were going or what we were doing and all these filters but but there's something deeper that paul was getting at here than just the simple process of aging paul was literally saying that i am experiencing living in a world living in a body that i realize that god is at work bringing my dependence on what i can see what i can touch what i can taste what i can feel what i can control even my own abilities he's at work bringing to decay my confidence in those things day by day by day i realize now that god is working to make me less confident in myself less confident in my 401k less confident in what i have what i can control what i can manage what i can plot and strategize and figure out but yet something else is happening he is renewing me and this worry he's reestablishing me he's he's resurrecting me he's building me up in my inward man the one that can commune with him you got to catch this you got to so paul as a result of that revelation viewed what we would call traumas viewed what we would call tragedies viewed what we would call the chaos of life differently than most of us do paul learned to see what was happening but be blind to what was happening he saw job loss i'm sure he saw support for his ministry going away he saw people arguing and fighting against what he taught he saw people attacking his name and saying he was a false teacher but he wasn't moved by those things that he saw he knew that god himself was at work bringing to decay his confidence in himself bringing to decay his confidence and his ability to get things done but renewing him day by day in his interview if we don't learn to see our setbacks differently our setbacks will chip at us when in reality god is working for us are you catching that i'm not suggesting that we should live in some jedi mind trick that we're doing on ourselves i'm suggesting that god is saying that we can't live by the outward temporal transient decaying world and build our lives on it our identities can't be built in the seen world our worth and value can't be established in what we could amass what we can save what we can gather together and the significant part of our lives is not in the things that are passing away the significant part of our lives are in the things that can't be seen it's the inward man that's being renewed day by day there are times in your life when it's going to feel like everything is falling apart when in reality god is putting everything together there there are times in our lives when we when people would ask us how we're doing and we would say man don't even ask me how i'm doing and we try to muster up some religious response rather than telling what is really going there's times in our lives when people will ask us that but what we're really feeling is that our dependence on the seeing things is being taken away because god is working on building up our dependence on the unseen things i'm not suggesting we won't win i'm not suggesting we won't experience victory i'm not suggesting we won't see movement to god in our lives i'm suggesting god wants us to participate in it in a different way are you ready for this get your pen in your notebook out we gonna have to live this when it's all said and done cause this is really where we live this is really the moment that god has placed us in when when as far as i've been living for 54 years i've never seen as much chaos and as much turmoil and as much decay happening in my life i'm sure other generations may have felt the same but when you're seeing the worst you ever saw it's the worst you ever saw so i'm seeing the worst i've ever seen is anybody else seeing it that way and god is saying i need you to see beyond what you're seeing so that you can see what i see not just to be an observer but so we can collaborate together so that we can work together so that you can become a portal that can usher me into the circumstances you were just commenting on i want you to work with me in those moments run with me back to our text in 2nd corinthians 4 16 and with your permission i'm going to read it with the the greek insight on this therefore we do not lose heart even though our outward man is being brought to decay yet the inward man is being renewed day by day if we're if we're going to live from an eternal perspective here's a a shift that needs to happen for us if we're going to live from an eternal perspective we have to understand that an eternal perspective is lived from the inside out not from the outside in let me say that again if we're going to live from an eternal perspective we have to understand that an eternal perspective is lived from the inside out not from the outside end the lord sent samuel to bethlehem as he was mourning for saul the king that it passed in first samuel chapter 16. you might remember the account and and and he tells him i want you to go to the home of jesse the bethlehemite because i provided a king for myself among his sons samuel the prophet who who lives hearing from god and proclaiming for god samuel the prophet goes and takes the journey to bethlehem and when he gets there the first son of jesse that he encounters is iliad and when he sees iliad he concludes in himself based on what he saw that surely the lord's anointed stands before me i know this is him i don't know what he saw but i think he saw a handsome man i think he saw a strong athletically built man i think he saw a man that seemed to carry dignity he saw a man that looked kingly and he said this must be the lord's anointed that stands before me none of this dialogue happened externally it happened the way that it typically happens with us inside based on what he saw outside it told him what he was seeing on the inside he was living outside in but but then in 1st samuel 16 and verse 7 are you familiar with the text in first samuel 16 verse 7 the lord said to samuel don't look at his physical appearance or physical stature because i have refused him for the lord catch this for the lord does not see as man sees for man looks at the outward appearance but the lord looks at the heart see samuel was seeing from a physical perspective and based on his experiences which he had not had many but based on his experience if you're going to be a leader if you're going to be a king you got to look the part so he sees a man looking the part i'm at jesse's house i'm in bethlehem this must be the one and he concludes in himself from a temporal earthly perspective that i am seeing the one that god wants me to anoint i wonder how many iliads we've anointed in our lives i wonder how many things we've looked at from the outward physical appearance of them and concluded this must be the thing god wants to anoint in my life this must be what god wants me to allow to rule over my life this must be what god and we anointed something based on an outside in perspective but god stops him in the middle of his thoughts and god i pray that this becomes our reality too now while we're in the midst of looking and concluding that you would interrupt our conversation within ourselves and that you would shift us from our temporal perspectives that anoint things in our lives that have no business ruling over our lives and shifted god and you sit on the throne of our hearts your kingdom is a heart kingdom and we and we give you rule and reign that from the inside from our spirit man from our heart you would rule and reign so that we would see as you want us to see god could have caused the next one to come to be the one but i think god is trying to teach this man how to see so he lets all of the brothers go in front of them see now he's learning to see from an eternal perspective because i know if there's brothers some other ones must have looked strong and physical and healthy but god lets all of them go by because god i believe is teaching samuel the same thing he's teaching us i want you to learn to see from my perspective i want you to stop concluding what you're seeing based on your natural experiences your natural education your natural counselors and mentors and you keep giving things place in your life that i never placed in your life because it's impeding you from being able to be what i want you to be what i made you to be what i set you in this moment in history to be so my i'm ready to be what he wants me to be what he's seen me being in jesus name we we must live from this place you've got to understand us that the kingdom of god is not he he said that they will say lo the kingdom is there lo the kingdom is there the king but he said no the kingdom of god is within you what was he saying when he was saying that is there a palace inside of me is there a throne what he was saying was that god's rule and reign is inside unlike uh external kings that set up their kingdoms and rule people with force and and rule people with might he comes in and sits on the throne of heart but we must adjust our sight so that we can see and hear from he who is reigning from within so that we start to see and think i don't care how experienced you are your outward man is being brought to decay i learned that pastorally i'm sure matt was just up here giving testimony that he learned that pastorally and i'm sure you in whatever area you're working your whole rhythm got turned around over the last 23 months every way that you used to do things that you used to accomplish things that you used to think through things got all shifted around and changed and i'm not suggesting that god ushered in covet but i'm suggesting that he uses everything to accomplish his eternal purposes and some of us are rushing trying to get back to our old rhythms and our own perspective now you've just got the greatest gift you may ever get in your lifetime that you can't go the way you used to go you can't do what you used to do you you question every step that you're taking right now don't see every setback as lost some of them are god divinely at work in your life and by faith i just declare every iliad ruling in your life right now that god has not set up every external throne that is influencing you how you live that your outside in lifestyle is over today and you're ready to take a real kingdom position where you live from the inside out in the mighty name of meet me back in our text for the day therefore we do not lose heart see this even though our outward man is being brought to decay yet the inward man is being renewed day by day we're often looking see this is the the the as the as they say the level up right here level up is ebonics for god god is calling us to function at a level beyond the maturation level in which we were functioning let me say it again here go here goes the level up statement right here god is is calling us right now to level up calling us to function at a higher level in him than we were functioning previously so i'm gonna make the statement right now you ready we're often looking for god to change things right are you is anything in your life i'm looking god would you change this with you do something about this i prayed this morning from that perspective and god interrupted my prayer from that perspective and had me ask me what i want to do in that we're often looking for god to change things but what god is most interested in is changing the way we see things you got to get this we often want god to change things but what god is most interested i'm not saying he won't change things somebody out there mad right now you mean the lord ain't going to change this thing level up level i heard you mad out there i knew i wasn't wanting to come here no more he but god wants us to mature beyond sitting back and wanting him to come change everything for us and what god is more interested in is changing the way we see things if he can change the way we see things if we can change our perspective and our paradigm we can collaborate with him we can actually work with god i'm not saying there won't be moments where we just watch god work but there are moments when god wants us to work with him stephen covey uh wrote a nationally acclaimed book thinking about 2008 2009 along with macklem malcolm gladwell's book it was it was like number one or two in the new york times bestseller list maybe some of y'all remember the seven habits of highly effective people anybody remember that book by stephen covey and at one point early in the book he shares a personal story about how powerful it is when our perspective changes he shares a real life story that stephen was on the train on the subway in new york city it was during the the time of day where was primarily business people that were riding on the train and they were all in the subway car and it was a subway car that was quiet subway car where again it was most people in suit and ties and business attire as he shares this account and they're reading their newspapers it's back in 2008 they're working through their planners i don't know what planners are anymore but they're working through their planners and organizing their day and some people are just have their eyes closed just riding but it was it was one of those rare moments where it was just quiet as he's right as he's sharing this account he says at one stop the subway doors open and in came four or five little kids and what appeared to be their father and the father comes and sits right down next to him but the kids never take a seat and they're running around yelling rambunctious out of control kids are screaming at each other across the subway car he said that one kid was grabbing the newspapers of the people they were trying to read i mean it was just chaos literally came into a subway car that it was business folks on their way to work and all of a sudden in a moment with the doors open and this group coming in changed everything stephen covey in this account shares how he's watching what's going on and he keeps glancing over at the father wondering is the father going to do anything and watching the the irritation level rise in the subway you ever been somewhere you could see you could see you know the the irritation level rising at first they were cute kids and now these are little demons like is somebody gonna do something at least he writes in this account covey finally realizes no one is going to do anything about this not any other people on the train or in this subway car and clearly not the father but he's the one in proximity to the father so he musters up all the fruit of the spirit i guess in him and tries to be tries to be appropriate and nudges the father and just says hey um your children appear to be out of control here and everyone on this subway car is really getting irritated by your children are you going to take responsibility and do anything talk about the power of perspective change to which the father says to him oh i'm sorry i couldn't be more sorry i guess i should do something but we're just coming from the hospital and we just learned that their mother died we're on our way back to the house just trying to figure out what we're going to do from here in that moment from hearing a word from the father stephen covey's perspective of the subway card of the kids is changed from from him being at the point where he's ready to grab one of the kids now he's ready to embrace one of the kids from him being at the point where he if the father don't discipline one of these kids it takes a village i'mma discipline one of these kids but now instead of that he wants to encomfort these kids instead of him being angry with the father now empathy swells up in him and he literally says what can i do how can i support you what happened and now he's wanting to be involved in a man's life who he wanted nothing to do with his life because it appears he has no control of his life perspective changes everything so often we are looking for god to change things but what god is more interested in is changing the way we see things and we have to get to the place that as we look on things rather than us concluding rather than us emoting rather than us reacting that we do what the scripture encourages men are always to pray women too are always to pray we're in the moment we realize wait i i have a kingdom within me because i have a reigning king within me and i love what pastor matt said about authority with us abdicating authority looking for someone else to do things that no the church is here to do those things but we've sat in too many subway cars in our lives and said who's going to do something about this who's going and instead of getting prayerful getting angry instead of seeking the father seeking the conductor but but on many of the subway cars of our lives god is there let me say better in all of the subway cars of our lives god is there and god is looking for us to not elbow him but turn to him and say father what do you see father what do you want to do father what is my role in this am i an intercessor am i active in this do you want to employ my gifts in this do you want to mobilize my whole peace cell towards this do you want to mobilize my whole what do you want to do in this see this is moving from living life from the outside in where we feel more oppressed more pressured more anxious i think this is why our anxiety as followers of jesus is so high it's a holy anxiety on us i think sometimes god allows anxiety to come because anxiety is a call to prayer doesn't philippians tell us be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication making your requests be made known what if when we felt the anxiety of the subway car being filled with chaos of our lives instead of god why aren't you for me why aren't you doing something why aren't you saying something i've been fasting i've been praying i've been faithful i give i i serve i i do everything you would ask me to do can't you do something on this subway car for me what if really all it is is a turn to the father father are you aware of what's going on here do you see this subway car filled with all this chaos and just a word from the father changes your perspective i believe this is what god is doing with us now he's leveling us up in previous seasons things that he did he now wants to do in us and through us and as the world looks on and sees that because i if cause stephen now must end up looking like a hero he ends the account there but i my imagination ran on i wondered did steven get up take the kids comfort the kids love the kids how much would that have convicted everybody in the subway car that was thinking about hurting the kids stephen gets his suit messed up and his time messed up and his destination messed up to intervene in something that the father gave him access to what if our lives look like that what would happen then in the same moment the same scenes that we live some of you got stuff going on in your subway car right now i wish you'd stand up i want to pray over your life my subway car is filled with chaos my subway car is filled with god are you going to do anything my my subway car is filled with desperation if the father doesn't say something now i don't know what i'll do let's just lift our hands and begin the worship as the band comes and just plays let's just begin to worship that great champion that he's going to dismantle some iliabs in your life he's going to dethrone some things have been trying to rule over your life god's going to as you worship god's going to fill you with images that overtake the things you've been imagining for your ruin and you're gonna see things different as we're worshiping don't wait on them you go in on your own just as we are worshipping blessing the name of god remembering how he's moved and instructed us before and anticipating him doing something new and different in our lives eyes have not seen ears have not heard neither have entered into the hearts in the imagination of people the things that god has prepared pre-planned to do in and through your life in and through our church in and through our churches in and through the church let's lift your hands welcome him in welcome the king of glory turn to the father tell them what's going on in the subway car ask them what you would have me to do sometimes they'll give us pictures sometimes they'll give us thoughts sometimes a verse would rise up and we don't know why that verse rises up sometimes we pray and we realize i'm not even praying anymore the holy spirit is praying through me right now sometimes we just celebrate because we get a knowing that god is for me in this god is with me in this god has already gone ahead of me in this got a prayer with these subway cars right now in the name of jesus thank you lord jesus for this train that is headed towards your final plans and intents for our lives but while on it god you've called us to be those that get up that stand up that speak up that work with you in the car to bring about the ends that you have in mind god our days of sitting steaming and stewing are over our days of feeling powerless and purposeless are over god today we respond to your response sibo play we respond to the rsbb yes i'll be there yes i'll show up yes i will collaborate with your plans and your purposes and your intentions i no longer am focused on my setbacks but i'm looking for your hand that is ordering the steps of my life i believe i receive what heaven has in mind for me now by faith in the mighty name of why you're still standing while you're still standing if you've never invited jesus into your life you never even noticed that he was there in your subway car you never realized that he had come to rescue you he had come to save you come to redeem you we come to restore you to the father jesus plan and what made him so happy was no more orphans sons and daughters restored to the father if you're here today and you've never accepted jesus you've never turned to him and said i want you to reign in my life i want you to rule in my life i want you to take your rightful place in my life i've ruled long enough we see what my ruling has produced i want you to reign and rule over my life i want to see what your kingdom will produce through me in me now and in the age to come while every head is bowed and we're all praying if that's you you're coming to faith in jesus right now would you just wave your hand real big in the air i'll see it and i i see i see that hand waving right there just wave it real big i'm coming to faith in jesus right now i see your hand brother are there more i'm coming to faith in jesus for the first time right now maybe you're here and you've already come to faith in christ you've accepted jesus as your lord but you hear him calling you to level up you hear him calling you to no longer sit around and wait for him to change things but you realize he's wanting you to see things differently and you want to give yourself to that you want to commit yourself to that if that's you just wave your hand in there i see the hand says i see that hand says i see your hand brother i see your hand brother see that hand back there see the hand there see that hand there i'm making a fresh commitment to jesus i'm making a fresh commitment to an eternal perspective towards life i refuse to go back to seeing and choosing based on my own thought and desire i want his will and desire to be mine just wave your hand if you're in on that part of the prayer i see that hand and see that see you can put those hands down i'm going to pray over you maybe you hear this morning you said this is good for everybody except for those from keystone if you're from keystone it's not for you but you're here today and you said i believe the lord is leading me to join this church see you've got to understand this we don't pick churches because of the proximity to our homes we don't pick churches because they share our our views and opinions the truth of matters we don't even pick churches jeremiah 3 tells us that god gives us pastors after his own heart that will feed us with knowledge and understanding you might can't stand me that's because you're seeing me based on outward perspective maybe jesus says i want you here i want that man to serve your life i want you to be a part of the the mission and vision that i've given to that local church i want you to join the perfecting church i've already pre-ordained it if that's you you sense god calling you to membership in this church and you would like to begin that journey of becoming a member a part of this local church and the assignment that jesus has given us if that's you just raise your hand i'll see it i'm going to pray for you right now if that's you just wave it i see your hand cis are there more just wave your hand i'll see it i'll pray if you're online i i'm so sorry i haven't talked to you if you're online and you sense god calling you into one of these invitations one of our altar counselors people are still coming let's keep it just spread out right here i just want to i just want us all to pray this prayer together and they're up here because they're coming to faith in christ for the first time they're up here because they're committed to living from an eternal perspective they're making a fresh commitment to jesus or they're here because they're joining this local church can you just point your hands towards them these are significant movements in their life this is a significant shift in change in their life don't allow this moment to be a mundane moment for them this is a significant moment for them this is an eternal moment on their lives jesus has worked to bring them to this moment can we work with jesus in this moment right now so don't just put your hand in the absent way let this be your son up here let's see this is your daughter see this is your mother your father up here father it's in the name of jesus that we come into agreement with the decisions you've brought our sisters and our brothers to this morning god we thank you that there is no such thing as a yes that is not met by overwhelming grace from you so we pray grace multiplied on their lives right now where they where they hear where they see where they know where they discern where they understand in ways that they had before and it's fortified by your strength and your know-how that we come against every hindering spirit every hindering relationship in their lives that has been keeping them from this moment we we come against every iliad in their life every king that has wrongly been anointed and given authority in their lives and we declare the lordship of jesus over their lives now let's pray this prayer together father thank you for sending your son jesus the christ to save me to deliver me to give me new life in you today i confess with my mouth what i believe fully in my heart jesus christ is lord no longer can anyone or anything else lord over me jesus take your rightful place establish your kingdom in my life and let it flow out through my life i surrender thank you jesus for saving me for setting me free for making me new in jesus name church shout amen with them yeah if y'all would just follow our altar counselors nobody's gonna mess with your purse or your ipad or nothing it'll be safe if y'all do we gonna get you just uh but y'all just for a moment church can we rejoice with them as they go come on we can we can rejoice better than that glory hallelujah we're going to worship jesus with our giving this morning hallelujah yeah yeah yeah god has poured out and given so much to us this morning and i want you to get an eternal perspective on this part of the worship service too there's nothing that we have that we're not merely a steward or a manager over there are no owners because the bible says in psalm 24 the earth is the lord's and the fullness thereof the world and they that dwell therein in other words god is saying it says on everything property of god but god invites us to manage to steward to participate with him in his eternal purposes and plans and even our worshipping and giving is doing that can i tell you this week we were able to serve families all week in our pantry because of our generosity right here yeah can i can i tell you we just had this worship service because we're in a physical space that god has not given us ownership over but entrusted us with stewardship over so we could have the gathering we just said now our generosity did that all those lives and families and generations that would change our generosity participated in that the 14 public high schools that we've been ministering to through a few good men were in week two they worked on resilience this week and our young people need to learn resilience even those that are far from god the kingdom of god is coming to them in 14 public high schools in our region they're men from our church going in there mentoring high school football athletes because of our generosity and they're not coming empty-handed they're coming in there feeding the team and bringing gatorade for the team and you know if you bring food and gatorade for teenage boys you got a meeting so uh so i just want to thank you for your worship of jesus because it's leading to good and eternal works but here's the thing jesus says there's no such thing as giving in the kingdom is giving and receiving no such thing as sowing alone but sowing and reaping so even as we give into his works he goes to work in our lives i'm not suggesting we can buy something from god i'm suggesting we can open ourselves up to be available to the work of god so i want to pray over your giving right now as you prepare to worship with your giving father i thank you we thank you god for these resources that you've entrusted to us thank you god that we have worked thank you lord that we have gifts and talents and ability thank you lord for businesses with contracts thank you lord god for people giving generously into our lives for those of us whose employment is interrupted right now god thank you for unemployment and for friends and family that gave to us and gave us a place this day we don't have much but we know you know how to make our little become much so all of us from those who have the most access to those who have the most need we worship you with our giving now our tithe is the tenth of what we've earned god and what what you've allowed us to to bring in and we we bless you back with this god our offering god is us giving above and beyond that god a saying that you've done above and beyond in my life i'm giving above and beyond to your kingdom and god i pray for great wisdom for our church i pray for great wisdom for for our leaders great wisdom for our bored god that we would steward these resources so that we accomplish what you see us accomplishing that we do the works that you see us doing and we pray for favor god let some of our vendors say you don't have to pay your invoice this year we just love what you're doing let the people that hold the mortgage on this building say we're just going to send it send you the title indeed here you got it now we see the work you've been doing god nothing's too hard for you so we just believe for the impossible so that we can do the impossible for your glory and i pray the same in our households and in our families do in your house god and then do in our houses in the mighty name of well there's some instruction on how to give let's worship in our giving less like a father tutored and mentored and counseled us in your word father i pray again that your word is fallen on good ground the hearts that are retaining this and that will produce fruit no longer god that we look just at what is seen but we look beyond what is seen so that you can tell us what we're seeing god we believe we receive not only what heaven had in mind but the invitation and
