the wicked even my enemies and my force came upon me to eat up my flesh they stumbled and fell the one host telling camp against me my heart shall not fear the war should rise against me in this when I become one thing have I desired of the Lord and that's will I seek after that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and to enquire in his temple for in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion in the secret of his Tabernacle shall I hide me he shall set me upon a rock and now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me therefore will I offer in his Tabernacle sacrifices of joy I will sing yay I will sing praises unto the Lord here Oh Lord when I cry with my voice have mercy also upon me and answer me when thou see'st Sikhi my face thy face Lord will I seek high not thy face far from me but not thy servant away in anger that was been my help leaveme knots neither forsake me O God of my salvation but my pastors of churches woman who are choir directors women who are on the choirs woman who are willing to stand up for God today we want to place all the woman before God hallelujah this generation and need to intensify offer it's now it's now so the woman of the Central District we have recognized this evil in our society we have recognized that mankind no longer have respect fearful life imagine a little accident and you splash somebody you won't even kill him you step on somebody's feet there you will be killed you don't know what will happen very simple things people no longer has respect for each other we curse peace will we just carry on as if there is no God you know but we have recognized this and we know that the Lord said if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and seek his face and turn he said he will hear from heaven and he will heal our land so on Saturday November 16 we the ladies of the Central District we have decided to go to Lloyd's this year we take we've to lights and we'll be barley not before God woman ladies transform in the nation through prayer we it's going to be a day of Barlow bridging it's time for the church to get radical and bar load so our ladies please come out this Saturday at 8 o'clock we begin I am pleased to announce that there will be two three buses when I say three buses they will be paid for but not on your expense Hurst Allen know deceased the Union yielded two children Sandra and Sharon both of whom are here today to celebrate with their mom in this wonderful occasion as a young lady she felt the pull and calling of God on her life and finally he led to this Colin in 1965 when she was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in her early years sister Alice spent a number of years in England where she worked at a Goodyear company she finally returned to Jamaica and has been a member of the Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ Apostoli for over fifty years sister Merlin Allen has made tremendous contributions to the Bethel Church family and in particular to the latest apartment over the years how can we forget the rules pork and puddings that she took on a number of occasions to the then ladies auxilary meetings which were held once every month however her most noted contribution has been a dedicated plain of the organ at church serving not only the latest apartment with this god-given talent but the large church community as she plays the organ Sunday after Sunday sister Allen has been a mentor and advisor to many children young women and men as her wisdom advice encouragement and sometimes gentle rebuke has endeared her to their hearts her children we tell you that they were grown up to fear and respect God hence there could be no hanky-panky at all and how they lived had to reflect the values that they were taught sister Allen worked at the st. Joseph's infant school on Duke Street for a number of years before she retired almost 20 years ago as a teacher of music she took many of her students to the national festivals where they want many awards in a larger time sister Allen enjoys cleaning playing the piano she has had numerous classes at home over the years and she's taught several persons to play the piano including some of our very own members despite her age just the Allen still enjoys cooking mr. Allen your philosophy over the years has been I can't do all things - cries - threaten me and as such you believe in remaining active for as long as the Lord sees fit sister Alan your ability to motivate to guide and to solve problems coupled with your calm spirit has made you our companion of the brave light to the Wonder joy to the pilgrim guide to the Pioneer helper to the laboring man deliver to the oppressed strength to the victorious friend to the poor and hope for the less fortunate how can we forget your comrade your humility perseverance and love you have been the epitome of the fruit of the Spirit as given to us in Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 and 23 but the fruit of the Spirit is love joy peace long-suffering gentleness goodness faith meekness temperance against such there is no law mrs. Merlyn Alan you are a tremendous woman of God and asteroid and foundation member not only in a church community but also in the leaders department sister Alan on behalf of our pastor / CEO Michael Lewis the members of this congregation and most importantly the members of the latest department led by sister journey so I salute you we wish for you continued productive years happy associations and further personal growth and achievements and may God continue to inspire and bless you kandi congregational stand and as I am going to ask our pasta Michael George Ulis to me [Applause] to say I Lord bless you in fact the Lord has already blessed you you are blessed of the Lord it is no secret what God can do for over 50 years God has kept you and he continues to keep you it is my pleasure on behalf of all the ladies of Bethel and all the members of this great church to present to you this gift as a token of our sincere appreciation for your dedication to service you have been faithful since the day you came back from England and started to worship in this church you have been faithful and even up in age you continue to remain faithful and a true soldier the Lord bless you and keep early foundation members of this church amen was baptized at this church in fact he was the one who invited all the width of the church amen and so she's here amen going through a difficult time but she's here because she has another death in her family and she's here amen to take part in the funeral but we continue to bless God for her amen and we continue to pray God's strength amen we know that God is able to keep us amen let me ask her at this time just to bring a short greetings to us in Jesus [Music] choirs I want to greet all wonderful things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ present on the Lord for been here one more time thank God for this sputter groan I swear I was baptized yes and as well my husband was not a believer my bread can honor you go sent one I go 72 but each time I come back I still come here I visit here and I visit other church praise be to God I'm given God tons for each and every one that is here today when we were here with enough so many people like no but now there's a lot of people here people that I don't know all those people that I know I don't even see them but praise be to God we are still one in Christ Jesus and she's a bristle ya know saints of God my husband died from cancer Byrd last week it's really thick Holland stay sometimes and I wondered so when the count about 20 years after 20 years after we can see 20 yearsI of the cancer and after 20 years and some months it come back and come up with the venture this time when they come back we take him up so many pain so many hates right now I just wanted was to get away I said let me come to his hunting fin around and then when I about to come to his anti funeral I get to understand my sister died Gladys she's living right in Kingston here and then I said well I'll try and make it I don't know only God knows sometimes my foot name is like but just and believe in God he was a wonderful man of God stand up for holiness for righteousness preach all eNOS preach righteousness sometimes not even church members could take him because too much of the holiness and the right but you know know that the word is true they're gonna stand up for the word the word sense of God not just coming to get a 99 speaking tongues and to roll over the chair but to live your word you're gonna live the word when you preach about the value live it when they testify about you like a living what you sing about you got to live it because if we don't live it we're just fooling our sin and that did but wanna hear it did one way ou nd you prayer my strength I really needed strength saying I needed strength sometime every time I think I bought it I started to cry and sometimes and even when he died I didn't cry that much but no sometimes I go alone he's coming back to my mind classes on the direction of the set teachers and so our young people will be stepping up to the plate we teachers for next week Sunday nivara Sunday School classes starting at 9 and then our morning worship will be at 10:30 as usual our guest speaker will be our own national youth president sister Zara elephant and you would have seen or heard a man on the last graduation at the University of the West Indies she proudly received her doctorate so rightfully so dr. Zara Oliphant Amen will be our speaker and we know that there is a blessing Amen in store now in there will also be an evening service at 5:30 now remember on this day we do not go as late as normal so an evening service will be at 5:30 and our children's choir will be presenting so our children will be ministering to us amen at 5:30 now as is customary dinner will be available after church for sale only 250 dollars that's a little special because you can't get breakfast lunch or dinner anywhere for 250 all right so you're getting dinner for 250 I'm gonna ask that you give your names today 50th anniversary banquet as I said it only comes once every 50 years and so I don't know if I'm going to live to see another 50 years I do not know but if I add another 50 to my years I'd be a very very old man and so while I'm still a relatively young man I don't want this event to miss me at all at all and you should have wanted to miss you too so please those who have not collected their banquet ticket the banquet is on December 14th Saturday December 14th you don't want to miss that homecoming reunion banquet amen we do have quite a number of the sins who have migrated have already been good amen it is my real privilege to turn over the pulpit of this church into the hands of a woman of God who has been an example to the Apostolic community one who has stood the test of time a morning and the devil didn't want me to be here I have had the flu and I'm saying I've had it because I'm claiming healing in the name of Jesus so I had the flu right and I have come out of it I was tempted to say I'm coming out of it but I have come out of it Oh bless the Lord bless the Lord and this morning I drove by the church and I went upstairs and I prayed and I said God because I really wasn't feeling too well and I said God if it is your will for me to be there please give me a touch and if I didn't get that touch then I would remain at Phillipe Road but God touched me Oh bless the Lord bless the Lord bless the Lord and there are hills I saw about he touch me oh praise the Lord praise the Lord and from time to time he has touched me oh praise the Lord now over the years we have had the pastor's of this church ministering at our church Bishop Thompson started it and when he stepped down Bishop URIs continuance and when he stepped down in which ever way your present pasta continued its and he preached for us in July of this year and when he called me and he said you know I have never seen you at Bethel oh one time I saw you there and it was at the funeral of Bishop Ewing's we are asking you to come and speak for us it's the ladies day I wanted to have said no but I just I just couldn't and they have always been a blessing to us at Philip Lord and let me thank this family for lending them to us when we were and are in need of them I thank you very much because they belong to you right but they were unknown to us at Philippi Lord so I do thank you very much now based on my age I prefer not to speak I prefer to listen in many instances I just prefer to listen but because I'm investing for such a long time you know I'll have been saved for over 60 years I got baptized at age 8 years I wasn't very sure what I was doing but one thing I knew I didn't want to go to hell and my father who was a pastor he preached a lot of messages about going to hell or heaven and the soul I didn't want to go to him and so I got baptized but coming along I didn't know much I said what I was about but coming along I learn and then I got to appreciate God to appreciate Jesus as my savior and he has been with me for over 60 years in the church I am now in my seventies so he has saved me for over 16 years so not many persons here just a few person just looking I'm just a few persons maybe of my age just a few just a few just a few just a few but God has been with me he's a good God I can I I can recommend him I have had the experience with him so I can recommend him when I am sad he makes me glad when I am sick he heals me when I need comfort he comforts me whenever I am in need of anything he provides for me what a wonderful God I serve a wonderful God and I am recommending him to you all those who are saved today I can tell you that God is good is good all the time and we can rely on him we can rely on him for whatever we are in need of now I did not hear what your theme was it since i sat there your assistant pastor told me what the theme was however based on my plan I would like to encourage us today to stand despite the contrary winds in our lives stand stand despite the contrary winds in our lives there are many contrary winds that are blowing and the sometimes the storm but the storms are raging and sometimes we allow the storms to hit us down because sometimes we are not prepared when we hear that a storm or a hurricane is coming we prepare for it right but we know that this spiritual storms are in our lives every day and we need to prepare for them right we need to prepare because if we don't prepare then definitely we are going to lose our salvation I would like today just to look at three scriptures that I have here first Peter 2 verse 9 just the one verse and also first Peter 4 verses 12 and 13 and Ephesians chapter 6 verse 13 okay now if we dance up to 6 verse 13 says wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that he may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all stand also first Peter first Peter chapter 2 verse 9 States but he are a chosen generation a royal priesthood an holy nation a peculiar people that he should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light and chapter 4 verses 30 12 and 13 States beloved think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you as though some strange thing happened unto you but rejoice in as much as ye are partakers of Christ's suffering that when his glory shall be revealed he may be glad also with exceeding joy oh praise the Lord now as we approach the end of time we need to realize that Satan is working overtime to deceive us is working overtime to deceive us therefore our faith will be tried in different ways and I know that you your faith has been tried my faith has been tried all so many so many times but we need to remember who we are we need to remember who we are it is important that we remember who we are sad to say that many times when we are tempted when trials come our way we seem to forget who we are we seem to forget who we are and of course it says that we are Choza generation a holy nation a royal priesthood a peculiar people now that's who we are we are knowledge a criminal no man we are no little commoners right we are a royal priesthood and so we should Lord our heads up high or yes and do what is right right when we think of who we belong to right and who we are and us we are then we should be motivated to live according to the Word of God and it says we were in darkness we were not a people we were in darkness but he has made us into a people oh praise the Lord right he has taken us out of darkness into his marvelous light and we thank God for that now that being so our behavior and our attitudes should reflect who we are our behavior and our attitudes should reflect who we are and I want to encourage us today to make sure that our attitudes and our behavior reflects who we are right it should be a reflection of who we are and when people have to deal with us whether at the workplace whether at school whether in the home wherever we are we are to make sure that people are able to say my god you know she's a Christian must be Christian where's me of like that such an such a thing happen I wouldn't take it like that I would tell her off yes I'll give her a piece of my mind and all of that and she just took it like that you know why because you're peculiar people holy nation right and your attitude must reflect just who you are now for this to be achieved though we have to fight it's not very easy it takes fun we have to fight and as the Sun writer say we have to fight although we have to die no no you know there are some persons who will fight physically but as for fighting spiritually they're not putting up any fight right but they will fight physically others encouraging us today and I say I can encourage us because I have passed through it I have walked this way and long time and so I can tell you that is not easy but guess what is possible not easy but is possible it is possible I have made it and so can you Oh bless the Lord you can if you really rely on God self cannot make it self cannot make it because we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity so we cannot make it by ourselves but if we rely on God and we make our selves a pliable in his hands then definitely we can make it to the end now as I said we have to fight the younger persons they fight against the pleasures of this world and this worldly lifestyle right they have they have a battle where that is concerned right they have a battle and know that I mean social media or God it's right in their lives they have to fight even harder but then those of us who don't care about the lifestyles now because we have passed that stage you know what we have to fight against we have to fight against bitterness we have to fight against a hatred fight against unforgiveness right we have to fight against that because so many times we who are the older ones right we will say a body of people young people young people young people young people but then we are not so concerned about the styles the dress styles and all of that and and what the young people are concerned about but many of us are bitter many of us are unforgiving some of you will never ever forgive some of those persons who hurt you years ago even years ago some of you you are nursing unforgiveness for a long time and we need if there's anybody here with guilty of that you need to get rid of it you need you're destroying yourselves when you don't forgive you are destroying yourself because sometimes the person who we don't forgive maybe that person gets forgiveness and on his way are on her way to heaven while we are here with the bitterness in our hearts and our way to hell now we have to watch that because many times we we don't think of that many times we think of yes we need to wear our our skirts right length and our sleeve that the right length and all of that and all of that and we think so much about things like those but the inner man the real man the real person Myka the cedar in person we don't see the real person the real person is on the inside right and we have to think about that person it's very very important and many times we don't think about that we cover up right we make sure that we we dress properly so that somebody will say what a lovely Christian girl is that Wow you know her dress is so modest and no wonder why the Bible says that man looketh on the outward appearance but God looks at the heart God looks at the heart brethren our hearts we need to look inside of us it's very very important and many of us don't really look at that right the heart is very very important let us make sure brethren that we don't just gloss over that and make sure that we are dressed properly so that people can say we are Christians but the heart the heart and what I find brethren is not as a first be the for st. beloved think it not strange right concerning the fiery trial which is to try you burning inner world fiery trials are ready to try us to let us know who we are not to let God know who we are because he knows who we are right but we would not know who we are until we are tried until we are tried because so many times we say I would never system really did that I would never do it but guess what when you are trying the worse is when we are tried we know who we are yes because if we are not tried at some time ago somebody interfered with this Christian person and the person and the way the person reacted the person today the expression that was used was if you don't mash hands you don't know what is the inside of it and so we have to be very careful right when trials come and Olek trials I don't know about you I don't like trials but I know the trials are inevitable and knowledge they will come because I know that Satan wants me to go to hell with him and he wants all of us to go to hell with him right and so I know that trials will come right trials will come to try me and I am not at all suggesting that for the 60 odd years that all the trials that came I was successful I I wouldn't try to fool you you want to be fool anyway if I told you that you would never believe it there were times when I were tried right and I have lost the battle yes I lost the battle and we all will lose battles as time goes on but if we lose the battle one time that should teach us that we need now yes we need thank you to regroup right so therefore as we go through life some storms are going to blow us down some storms are going to blow us down but let us not stay down get up brush off and go again brush off and go again and as they the scripture says we must rejoice I don't know who finds it easy to rejoice in trials somebody tell a lie on you and people believe it right and I will say oh thank you Jesus no it's difficult it is difficult but guess what it can happen right it's difficult and when you are going through the trial it's going to be difficult right but at the same time there's a part of the scripture that I generally use that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord and I just I stop it right there and I say well yes I love the Lord and I have reached the stage that I get more matured right when things happen as a Lord what is in this what good is in this for me now I just ask the Lord so as we get more mature right so we we need to study God's Word we need to pray we need to fast right and we need to get matured in God because as we get matured in God where whatever comes our way we can just ask God Lord what good is in this for me now that's the stage that I have reached because of my maturity in God right but it says we are to rejoice and in in in Acts of the Apostles chapter 5 the Bible says that the Apostles were beaten and they were commanded not to preach in the name of Jesus Christ right and guess what the Bible says they then left the council rejoicing they left the council rejoicing that they were found worthy to suffer for the name of the Lord can you imagine so they are our example and we need to follow their example many times when things happen to so now instead of rejoicing some people blame God so God why you allow this to happen to me you may have an only child and the child dies oh my god the child that you were expecting in your old age right to be there for you the one child died you know that happened in our church earlier this year since the hope is one child died at age 28 only child and even know if she talks about it she cries right and it is difficult but at the same time the Lord giveth and the Lord has taken away and one very good thing was that she was saved right she was saved so if God and decides to take her at that time when she was ready so be it right but people were still more you may be married for many years and no child is forthcoming lejana it was read this morning no child is forthcoming and you pray about it you fast about it your answer the persons to pray and fast with you and no child is forthcoming and then you start to ask God what what happened what's the difference between me and a of our sister X and sister why what how many children they have and is it one likkle one I want from your God on you refuse to let me have one and sometimes the people may not talk what they are suffering right but there are some persons who will tell a few persons what is happening right but I'm encouraging you ladies if anybody who is here and you're trying you're married and you're trying making every effort to have a child and the child is not for coming be encouraged continue to work for God right continue to work for God don't give up stand it is important that you stand you are not to allow anything right to hit you down to make you be defeated you are to to stand and there are some persons who are sick for many years you have been to the doctor many doctors and you wondering what is on your face your prayer you give your times right and you're wondering how God can heal you right and you know what some persons are so weak that that's a boy cannot be sore sore so I have to go look now if you if you do that you are seeking another God you are turning against the God of heaven if you try to go to an obeah man to look to see if is your neighbor put your soul yes are are is somebody maybe not your neighbor could be a co-worker that's where to look that co-worker you know because I know session work in obeah see what up now it catch me now we are never ever never ever to think of that because they are they are other gods and we cannot afford right to go to any woman right and so many of them are in Jamaica now oh yes saying all the nominations are welcome the blood of Jesus is against them and there are so many problems in their country and they cannot solve them if you watch the news you will see how many problems are in their country and they can solve them but they come out there what is will we don't have any sense is it that we don't have any sense so that we believe they can solve our problem and the can solve ears as a children of God don't try thus it is indeed and no no it is us no no it's a no-no for Christians now there are some young ladies in the church who would like to get married I think all I think all young ladies growing up in life from your a child right you are saying why I want to get married and I want to have three children I want to have how many children now my mother had 14 children and it's 14 times and I can tell you you know she has never been to a doctor when she was pregnant with any of them just the same spring is just the same free right and well maybe they were not so many doctors were wrong too when she started them but the same times Bay Hospital was there and she has never been there they believed in prayer you're not better may have commissary a far way because I must confess that know that when I get older and realize some of the things that happen I said what appearance have no sense yes I struggle with some of the things that they do because that three of the children died when they were very young as young little babies not even seven days only eight our soul but one of them was six weeks old when he died now instead of taking the children to the doctor when they were seat you know what my parents did fasted and prayed and say God if it is your will let them live if it is not your will Lord we will accept your will and you know sometimes when I think about that accepted it when our a child you know but growing about me it why they did not take those children to the doctor but if you put your trust in God you see brethren in those days you know people put their trust in God and it's wrong God's will to be done I remember my father said well you know God knows what these children would grow up to be and God has taken them at this stage who say that no I don't think anybody here would say that no and one would say oh yes this is information age that is how they use us Oh Pentecostals used to be in those day they were God's will to be done God's will must be done and I'm not telling you to do that you know but my parents wanted I will tell you to let God's will be done right because God's will is always right and sometimes God's will is not our will all right so I'm talking about those who want to get married now and guess what you don't see any young man coming to pop the question yes and you are getting frustrated are you pray about it you fast about it and you look alone in the church and there are some ladies now you know different age know where the ladies will try to pop the question that's the days we are now living in when the ladies will pop the question and if you pop the question and the man says no you are disappointed that's one and you are embarrassed I'm not telling you not to do it but I know that that's not the right way pray continue praying young people continue pray continue praying yes right continue praying right and they said drowning man catch of the straw don't catch of the any straw the straw maybe on the outside of the church right and you claim you don't see anybody nobody saying anything to you right so therefore you are going to leave the church somebody at the workplace popping the question somebody somewhere else popping the question and nobody in the church doing it so I might as well just agree and then we don't see you again we don't want that to happen we continue working for God and continue praying right be of good courage and wait on the Lord right wait on the Lord your person will come in due time and if your person did not come continue to worship the Lord stand right continue to stand stand for holiness stand for righteousness stand right don't be defeated stand and of course if he's on six take unto you the whole armour of God that he may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand no an Armour is needed only if we are going to fight right and say we are soldiers in the army we have to fight although we have to die so we have to continue fighting and the to withstand the shows the ability to win against whatever comes you can withstand sometimes you look at the whole storm is coming and a sail Orion or the roof cannot withstand the storm that we stand with stand so you have this it does have the ability right it doesn't have this the ability to hold out through the storm but but stand in this context shows the result of the battle you are victorious or you are standing you are not defeated you are standing right so in this context and means to be victorious so at the end of the day you are standing you are victorious despite all the different things that are happening that have happened to you you are still standing and God has equipped us with the armor I want to go through what the armor is because we are all acquainted with the different parts of the armor I'm not going through that but God has equipped it has equipped us with the armor to fight so we are to make sure that we use the armor to to fight stand despite your temptations stand despite your disappointments stand despite your afflictions stand despite your persecution stand despite your failures get up and stand when you fail you jump up again and you stand stand despite your trials your crosses one songwriter says oh the unsearchable riches of Christ who would not gladly endure trials of fictions and crosses on earth hallelujah riches like those to secure there are precious more precious than gold and so whatever comes our way we are encouraged to to stand some marriages are failing they are falling apart some persons are under the same roof but nothing is happening you have been married and if you believe that God has put you together stay together if you believe God has put you together stay together there are so many things that are happening when we think of job you lost all that he had but he stood job lost all that he had he lost his wealth and he lost his health but he stood he stood he did not turn against God he said though he slay me yet will I trust him though he slay me yet will I trust him and tarry temptation Joseph was tempted and there seemed to be a sex demon going around these days where everybody feels you know have to be married you can be engaged in sex it's the Bible to say that the Bible didn't say that right so we are to be very careful where that is concerned so Joseph remembered who he was and he said how can I do this wickedness and sin against my god recently somebody said to me that she did something that was wrong and I said to her how could you do a thing like that she said to remember that she was a Christian yes she said ice I didn't remember that I was a crystal and I did it we have to remember who we are you know how could I forget that I'm a Christian no we are not never ever to forget but the Little Miss forgot that she was a Christian and where forgiveness is concerned let us think of Steven and Joseph Steven while he was dying he was told to death and while he was dying he asked God to forgive those who are killing him also do that many of us on us got to kill all of them did not kill I'll do a zoo trust to enough me that's how many of us would react but Steven asked God to forgive them right and so we have to make sure that we stand and all those persons who believe that just can't forgive I'm asking you please forgiveness forgiveness is important and as Christians we have to learn to forgive and we have to for us to say I would do the same scene easier said than done but they stood up and they said well our God will deliver us and if he didn't deliver us we will be still not bowing we are still not bowing and so they stood tall and Daniel he went they threw him in the lion's den he also stood tall at the end because he refused to pray to any other god other than the god of heaven so they all came out victorious and the last one pawned after his trials he was beaten he was shipwrecked he was imprisoned and after all of that he was able to say at the end I have fought a good fight I have finished my course I have kept the faith and I'm encouraging all of us males and females alike live the type of life and let us continue to fight and know you are fighting continue to fight intensify your fight because the devil is intensifying his fight so let us intensify our fight so that at the end of life's journey we will be able to say like Paul I have fought a good fight I have finished my course and best of all I have kept the faith that is a vital important stand for holiness stand for righteousness because holiness is still a requirement for heaven god bless you [Applause] God has
