today I've got for you guys the best Nvidia control panel settings for War Zone 3 to get improved FPS better latency as well as make your game sharper and more colorful more vibrant better looking overall starting off you need to make sure your Nvidia control panel is open up you need to also make sure your game is closed while you're doing this we'll start off in the adjust image settings with preview section just make sure in here that you've got this set to use the advanced 3D image settings rather than either of the other two this should change automatically once we start playing around with the manage 3D settings area but just set it here so there's no conflicts manage 3D settings we'll skip over because that's the main bulk of it so we'll first of all just click through these other ones really quickly configure surround physic this shouldn't make any difference but I would just recommend selecting your actual GPU in here and clicking apply on that for change resolution you can set up custom resolutions here but I'm not going to cover that in today's video the main thing is make sure that your refresh rate set correctly here I've got a 240 HZ Monitor and the last thing I want is to be running at 144 or even 60 htz by accident a lot of people do this so just make sure this is set correctly down here below you can change some things with color settings but no need to leave them all at default then go to adjust desktop color settings this is where we're going to make our game more vibrant down here you'll have digital vibrants which by default will be set at 50 I would highly recommend not just for card or war zone but for literally every game on PC you need to make sure this is turned up so I like putting this at around 65% some people like to go a little bit higher to maybe 75 or something but it just adds a really nice pop of color to your entire PC setup both in and out of game looks really really nice you can play around with brightness and contrast and Gamma there's some people who have said that you can get nice visibility out of this but I think leaving it all at default is the best option if you didn't know already war zone season 1 reloaded added nukes back to the game for players to grind out but for a ton of people who don't have as much time to dedicate to the game the nuke skin is pretty pretty much out of reach don't you worry though because today's video sponsor Sky coach can provide you with the perfect teammates to help you get it Sky coach offer a load of services including squading up with you to complete that nuke contract so you can show off the nuke skin to all of your friends Sky coach will also level up your guns and even unlock brand new weapons that release each season the plethora of highly rated reviews show that Sky coach is the real deal so check them out using my link in the description below my code will get you a 10% discount off your purchase so there's never been a better time to check them out then every page below that you can leave them all at default we can then head to the manage 3D settings we'll have a global settings tab and a program settings tab you could do everything I'm going to say today in the global settings then it'll apply to every game on PC but I would recommend that you head over to the program settings area and dial this in specifically for COD specifically for war zone rather than messing around with any other games on your system to select Cod you'll have a drop- down menu here and you probably won't see it in that menu so what you need to do is run the game once you probably will have ran it recently then click add and in recently used it should be near the top for me it's just a little bit down cuz I had it open recently you come down here click it here it's Call of Duty HQ is the one you're looking for uh and then you're just going to click add selected program and it will appear in the Box here the first setting in the list below is image scaling which is a setting that should give you a bit of better sharpness in game but it messes around with your resolution and it's not a really useful technique to be using at the end of this video what I'm actually going to show you is how we can replace image scaling with image sharpening which was an older Nvidia technique that looks really good gives you a much sharper crisper looking game for no FPS loss and yeah it's it's a really good one so you definitely want to stay around till the end for that but for now we're just going to leave this as default cuz it's going to be gone later anyway next one is anisotropic filtering ambient occlusion isn't supported for COD from the settings here an isotropic filtering this is something which you can set inside of the game and it's to do with how textures look in game especially when you're looking looking at them from a slightly side on angle it makes textures just look better for pretty much every game not just Cod I would highly recommend that you turn this all the way up from the default uh to 16x and actually override what the game is trying to do it will give you overall better crisper looking textures FXAA inside of anti-aliasing is a definite no no we want to make sure this is off FXAA is a kind of anti-aliasing uh which is where you basically take all those Jagged edges that sort of Shimmer in the as you're moving around the map and uh it basically just blurs them all that's what FXAA is it's not a very good form of anti-aliasing uh and we definitely don't want that on inside of our game then gamma correction this is a very old uh technique that doesn't really get used in any game now uh I don't think it actually does anything leaving it at on but I'd recommend that you force it off inside of these settings antialising modee you want to make sure this is definitely set to application controlled weirdly inside of War Zone 3 and Modern Warfare 3 you actually can't set specific anti-air lising modes like every other modern game it's kind of a shame um but we definitely don't want to be overriding it with anything weird inside of the control panel so application controlled is the best setting and then anti- eling transparency you can leave this at either Global setting of off or off once again we're not trying to overwrite anti-aliasing from within here background application Max frame rate this will set the maximum frame rate that the application can run at when you're alt tabed doing something on your second Monitor and it is actually a really useful thing to have because when you turn this on and you set your FPS to 10 or something like that it means that multitasking is a lot easier if I'm mult tabed looking at something on my second screen I don't want the game to be eating up all the performance of my computer you know I'm trying to do something over here I'm going to come back to you in a second however you can actually do a background application Max frame rate inside of the game you you don't want to do it inside of the control panel as well that could cause some weird uh conflict of one overwriting the other and things like that so I would recommend that for this you just leave it off then Cuda gpus this should have no effect assuming you've only got one GPU in your system which most people do if you're one of those you can just leave this at default if you do happen to be running sort of multiple gpus or anything like that then you can come in here and select specifically the main GPU you're actually wanting to use for the game once again just so there's no weird conflicts going on Cuda sism fullback you can leave that at default then low latency mode this is a very misunderstood setting a lot of people will look at the options here and say Ultra ultra low latency that sounds good I'm going to pick that however inside of War Zone we have the Nvidia reflex low latency setting which you can set to on or on plus boost and I've covered what those settings do inside of my settings videos for War Zone 3 and I've said that you either want to use one of those two things and definitely have it on in game however you do not want to have it on inside of the Nvidia control panel settings as well in theory the Nvidia reflex inside the game should overwrite this but there have been many reports in many other games haven't seen it for COD just yet where having it set in the control panel as well does cause conflicts and actually causes some level of stuttering as well so definitely make sure low latency mode is forced to off in the Nvidia control panel the next setting in here is Max frame ratees this is kind of similar to the background application Max frame rate where you do not want to be using the Nvidia control panel forced Max frame rate instead if you want to set a frame rate limit which can be a good thing to do do it in game the actual reason for this is that the in-game frame rate limiter will lead to a lot less latency than using the Nvidia one so make sure that this is forced to off the next one is Monitor technology we've actually got two settings in here g-sync and fixed refresh I'm not going to dive into g-sync I personally don't use it especially in a game like cod where I'm not achieving crazy levels of FPS anyway I just find that fixed refresh is a better option then multiframe sampled mfaa this is another form of anti-aliasing that will only do anything if you have msaa as an optional antialising technique inside of your game we do not have that inside of this game I'm pretty sure all of the antialising that is in this game is all SMA which is a completely different kind of anti-al lising So in theory this does nothing so we can just force it to off below that we've got openg GDI compatibility I would just leave this at Auto it's not an openg GL application anyway it's DirectX so it shouldn't do anything open GL rendering GPU shouldn't do anything but we'll just select our GPU anyway just to avoid any conflicts then power management mode we've got normal and prefer maximum performance very similar to the low latency mode one this is very very misunderstood uh uh people seem to think that you will get higher FPS if you run prefer maximum performance because it does say well it's maximum performance maximum performance equals more FPS unfortunately no that is not the case there have been many many benchmarks carried out you can go and find them everywhere online that prove that there is no difference in the actual maximum performance you get or the overall running performance between these two the only difference is that when you run it at prefer maximum performance your system is just going to Pummel the game at Max Pace all the time even when it's not needed whereas normal will allow your PC to rest as and when it needs to you will not lose any performance doing this you will just end up with a much healthier happier PC uh over long periods of time so please just select normal and don't try and argue with it basically then preferred refresh rate you want to make sure this is set to highest available rather than application controlled okay we always want the highest FPS inside of the game but below that we've got four of these settings labeled texture filtering uh you don't actually go have to go in here and try and set each of these the only one we want to change is texture filtering quality the reasoning is when you set this one it's going to change the other three around it so we've got four options high quality quality performance and high performance simple answer do not use high performance or high quality both of these settings do cause issues uh with many games includ including War Zone 3 you want to use either quality or performance one of the two middle options basically it's a simple case of do you have a really really good PC and you want to get a little bit of extra quality out of your game or do you just want Max performance you guys know me I want Max performance so I'm going to select the performance option and it will set up all the stuff around it so it sets an isotropic sample optimization to on negative LOD bias to clamp and trilinear optimization to on all sorted then threaded optimization this one you can just leave to Auto so it can just do its thing uh it will make use of your CPU in the best way possible which is awesome triple buffering make sure this is off because it's not a Technique we want to use it says it's only for openg applications anyway so it shouldn't do anything but force it off just so we're safe vertical sync let the 3D application do its thing with this don't try and control vsync from in here you can force it off in here but as long as you've not got it on in game you're fine anyway so just choose 3D application setting then virtual pre-rendered frames it's not a VR game so it's not going to do anything so what I would just do is come in here and just use the 3D application setting don't try and force anything specifically from the Nvidia control panel uh into the game which we've selected up here especially when this is all to do with virtual reality and this is not a VR game we don't want any conflicts and the last one in here is Vulcan slop present method once again this is not an openg game this is not a Vulcan game this is a direct X game so this shouldn't do anything uh so you can just leave this at Auto okay once we've done all that let's just click apply so that is all dialed in you'll have this warning that comes up as well saying do we want to keep the changes just press yes it'll do a little bit of flickering and then once you can start scrolling again it's all locked in so the next thing we're going to do is cover how do we set this image scaling to image sharpening instead first first of all Nvidia control panel you need to close it then you want to go down to your start menu and search for reg edit no spaces and you'll be able to open up the registry editor now this can look a little bit daunting if you've not been in here before but don't worry it's not that confusing what we're going to be doing here what you want to do is start off at the top with these couple of folders I will have a full path in the description below that you can follow to get to the bit that we're going to change it's inside hkey local machine then system then current current control set then Services then you'll need to scroll right down cuz there's a lot of stuff in here and we'll have one that's quite far down called NV ldd mkm bit of a mouthful you're going to open up that one then you're going to open up FTS and you won't be able to go deeper within this there'll be no Arrow to click inside of here you're going to have a load of these entries called enable gr and then a number the one we're looking for is enable gr 5 35 all you want to do is double click it will open up a little box here and you're just going to change the value data from one to zero okay leave everything else default then you just want to click okay there's not going to be any save option or anything you can literally then just close the registry editor right click on your desktop again go to Nvidia control panel and what we should see now when we go to our program settings and we've got Cod selected image scaling has now changed to image sharpening so now we can set up the sharpening you just want to click over here you want to make sure that this is turned to on and this is where it kind of becomes personal preference you've got a sharpen amount uh which I just like to leave at 0.5 because oversharpening it inside of here on top of fidelity FX cast sharpening inside of the game will just make the game look overly like crispy it'll be like baked in the oven levels of crispy um so 0.5 just gives you a really real nice looking game uh then below that you've got ignore film grain the reason that this exists is cuz if your game happens to have any sort of graininess to it um which a lot of the sort of more cinematic games do uh this will try and ignore a certain amount of it when it comes to the sharpening so you don't see that graininess on your screen Cod doesn't have any film grain in it assuming you got film grain off so I turn this down to .05 as a nice balanced option then you just want to click okay you will see that that's locked in as the setting here sharpen 0.5 ignore film grain 0.05 and then you just need to click apply do not skip this next step there's one more thing we need to do because if you open up your game now you are going to see your game looking all kinds of weird there's going to be flashing lights all over the screen I don't have any Clips to show you of it but it's going to look like something's just completely broken and the reasoning is is that this image sharpening is actually applied at Shader level so you know when you just get like a new update for the game or say and it does the Shader optimization and stuff at the top if you try and do this a sharpening without a Shader reset it's going to look weird and going to go wrong so to reset our shaders this is what you need to do outside of the game before we open up the game we can close that Nvidia control panel then you want to find where your game is installed so I can come over to my steam game and click rightclick then properties then go to installed files and then click browse this is going to take you to exactly where the game is installed if you've got it on battl net there will be some similar way to navigate to where everything's installed that'll be fine then you want to go to Cod 23 then Shader cache and then you're going to have a load of files inside of here what you want to do is do contrl a to select them all and then just press delete it's fine that we've deleted all that stuff because next time we start up the game you're going to get the Shader preloading happen and your game will be fine and it will look nice and sharp because of the image sharpening what I would ask is could some one down below in the comments please leave a comment on whereabouts this folder is for battl neck CU I've covered this kind of thing in I believe Modern Warfare 2 and it turned out that this was in a slightly different location for battl net installs so if someone could do that I would be much appreciative of it and I will add it to the description uh when I find that out so now you can jump back in game but before you do that you should go and watch this video next where I'll take you guys through 17 hidden mechanics and strategy and tips that you probably never knew about and you absolutely need to abuse in war zone right now
