once you're past the Alpine main quest in God of War Ragnarok you'll start to get a lot more choices for gear so let's check out all the best items and put together some true mid-game builds I Define the mid game as roughly starting with your trip to alfheim for grow a secret through forging Destiny with Brock and while we'll discuss items obtained over that whole time span I won't have any story spoilers here as long as you visited vanheim for the Reckoning we'll start with my three recommended armor combinations and then we'll dive into weapon grips ruinyx Shields relics and amulets since my recommendations for all of those are mostly the same for each of these builds before we get started though I want to make sure you guys know about my holiday game giveaway I'm giving away two copies each of God of War Ragnarok Horizon forbidden West the newly announced burning Shores DLC for forbidden West and Hogwarts Legacy links for each giveaway are in the description and you need to be subscribed to my channel to be eligible there's additional ways to gain more entries though like following me on Twitter and Instagram winners will be selected when the channel reaches 20K subs and I'll contact you via email or DM you're contacted any other way it's a scam good luck to anyone that enters and happy holidays to everyone so if you followed my early game build video then you're currently rocking the nidalear placard and fortified husk wrist and waist pieces this first mid-game build will be healing focused so we'll hang on to that knit of Lear chest piece for its perk that heals us while performing stun grabs but we're going to drop the Fortified pieces instead you'll want the girdle and bracers of Raven tears which you can get from The Raven tree chess in neefelheim once you've got 6 and 12 Ravens respectively these pieces will enhance the healing effect by a solid 30 percent they also have good stats for strength and defense to use this build effectively you want to make sure you're consistently building up that gray stun bar under an enemy's health bar to trigger R3 stun grabs if you want to learn more about how to use stun I'll link my Essential combat skills video at the end of this one a healing Focus build isn't for everyone though so another option is to use the radiance wrist and waist pieces instead of the Raven tier ones if you were a fan of the Amulet of capacia in 2018 then you'll like this build because the gauntlets and belt of Radiance have the same special perk to trigger slow motion realm shifts with both pieces equipped we get 1.75 seconds of slow-mo time when executing a last second Dodge there's an even better realm shift build that I'll cover in a future video but if you want to play with realm shifts now then you can find the gauntlets of Radiance in the northern part of the Alpine Barons which you can access right after finishing the main Alpine quest You'll have to take down a few Dark Elves before you can loot them from the chest the belt is just a little further east inside the giant skeleton cave where you'll need to clear out a bunch of Grims so both of these builds that are based around the knit of Lear chess piece serve as a great way to bridge the gap from the early game to my preferred mid game build the full lunda set this is the poison build some of you have probably heard of and it's very powerful honestly this armor can be used as a base for one of the most powerful endgame builds so it's definitely worth picking up the chess piece has a very interesting perk that allows you to deal poison damage when using barehanded attacks as well as Shield blocks and parries it also increases the damage of these attacks by building up the full poison State on enemies we lower their power level by one which significantly reduces their defense against our attacks that's pretty solid on its own but the wrists and waist pieces make it even better together they give us a 40 increased damage perk against poisoned enemies so the Synergy of this set is really strong basically you just want to punch Perry Shield strike and block as much as possible to build up the poison State and then either continue using your fists for bonus damage or switch to your preferred weapon to do melee attacks up close it takes some time to get used to this different style of combat but I promise it's well worth it the combination of the poison State lowering an enemy's defense and the Damage boosts from all the Loon to Pieces mean you can deal a lot of damage very quickly this build is particularly effective against single enemy bosses since you really need to focus on one enemy to consistently build up the poison state for that reason the poison play style isn't as effective with groups of enemies but the base stats on the lunda armor are still really solid for strength defense and ruining so normal combat against regular enemies will definitely be enhanced as well to get the Loon to chest piece after you complete the main quest in danaheim talk with Rock and lunda and she'll tell tell you there are some missing armor pieces out in the southern Wilds River delta I'll leave a map and some guides linked down below to help you find all of the gear in this video but basically you'll find the bracers in a red chest just across from the River delta Mystic Gateway in the Cliffside ruins area the belt is west of here in Noah tomb's garden and the chess piece is in a chest in the field passage caves okay those are all the armor sets so now let's run through the rest of the gear you'll want to use with them for your ax grip I recommend sticking with the Furious Mall from my early game build this will increase your strength and has a decent perk that gives a high chance for an additional strength boost on a successful ax kill the Furious small comes from your fight with Thor during the beginning of the game for a light ax ruinick you can pick up the returning fan favorite Wrath of the frost ancient early in your trip to Anaheim it's in a pretty sneaky spot though so make sure you check out the side chamber in this area you can also pick up The Mists of helheim heavy ruinic later in vannaheim just across the bridge from where Linda's bracers are this is the heavy I prefer because it's focused on ruining which helps frost build up a little later you can get fog of thimble winter in the mirror tunnels at the start of forging Destiny this one is similar but also deals some decent damage if you prefer a damage focused ruining then when you're in midgard for the word of fake Quest you can find invaldi's Anvil in the derelict Outpost area an even better damage focused one is breath of thommer which comes from a raven chest and nifelheim once you have 28 Ravens for the blades I recommend sticking with the pommels of the undying spark which have really good stats for strength and ruining and a nice perk for increasing burn damage I showed where to find these in my early game build video but they're easy to miss and for most of the mid game you can't go back to this part of spartalheim so a good alternative are the hardened War handles from the southern area of the boroughs and Alpine which you can visit right after Anaheim these have a pretty sweet perk that boosts damage and stun from the Hyperion grapple and pull skills which as we discussed in my combat tips video you'll want to be using anyway for a light ruining continue using flames of Anguish which you got from the dreky in spartalheim for the heavy I recommend neemian Crush I like this one because it deals a solid amount of damage and burn later on you can upgrade to atlas option which you can find near the elevator puzzle during forging Destiny with Brock this one is similar to neemian crush but deals a little more burn moving on to the shield I personally always go for The Dauntless for its powerful Parry playstyle but if you're not into parrying then the stone wall is best either Shield will work well with the Loon to poison build because they'll help build up the poison State just by using them normally the stone wall is actually really nice for this build because you can just hold out one and enemies will literally poison themselves as their attacks are blocked now we have a bunch of options for shield attachments the first one is the round of Expedition which is dropped by Alva so you can't miss it I don't find the cooldown perk to be anything special but go ahead and slap this one on your shield for now since its base stats will be a small Improvement don't bother upgrading it though because after killing Alva and exiting the Temple of Light you can head to the Barons desert area to pick up the Rond of Affliction I really like using this one with the poison build by simply double tapping L1 for a shield strike you can consume a status currently applied to an enemy to cause a corresponding Elemental explosion which deals a bunch of damage and applies Elemental buildup to surrounding this actually helps make the poison build more effective on groups of enemies the poison state is a status so since we're building it up all the time anyway we can use this perk easily just watch those poison indicator icons to make sure you're using the shield strike on enemies that have a full poison State built up it's also smart to wait until the timer ring around the edge of the icon has almost run out this way you can take advantage of the poisons other benefits for most of the active status time and then get an extra damage boost with a shield strike at the end the round of Affliction also has good stats for defense and ruining plus some cooldown if you're into the healing build then you could check out the round of restoration which has a chance to heal you when using a shield strike after taking damage it can also boost your defense a bit at the same time you can find this one in a Hut in vannaheim a little ways behind the dragger hole another interesting choice is the Rond of purification which you can find in a well hidden chest on your climb up to The Well of ERD during the word of fake Quest the round of purification boosts strength and defense and has a very cool perk to clear statuses from Yourself by simply using a shield strike so if you're Frozen burning poisoned or covered in bifrost you can clear it simply by double tapping L1 plus the element's damage will get dealt to an enemy if you hit them with the shield strike personally I still go for the round of Affliction since I like how it works with the poison build but this one is pretty sweet too in the mid game relics still aren't very interesting and the only one I think is worth using is the hilt of Graham which provides a burst of rage and applies stun to nearby enemies this is a modest improvement over the Talisman of Meng from my early game build there's a puzzle near the end of the Temple of Light and Alpine that you can solve to get the hilt of Graham while relics aren't too interesting yet we do now have enchantments to load on our Amulet the goal with these is to get three of a kind to unlock their set bonus the easiest set to get is fartleheim's Fortune safety and honor but somewhat confusingly you actually find all of these in vanheim by completing favors for spirits in the River delta area you can find a link in the description for each Spirit favor as well as locations for all the other enchantments we'll talk about but once you have three spartalheim ones you'll unlock the set bonus that increases stun based on your defense stat which is a very versatile and useful perk the next set you can put together is alfheim which enhances an attack after a last second Dodge based on the strength stat this is more situational and harder to take advantage of but you can't put a better set together for a little while and the individual alfheim enchantments also boost your strength so it's worth throwing them on the amulet for now you can get all four of the alfheim enchantments simply by exploring the Barons desert area in alfheim and fighting a couple of mini bosses the vanheim set is perfect for the lunda poison build because it boosts melee damage against status-afflicted enemies you can find vanaheim's power behind the River delta Mystic gate and then you can craft Fortune at the shop soon after that a third one honor will be in the shop after completing the word of Fate main quest finally I really like the nifelheim set because it increases melee damage when you're above 75 Health based on your defense again this works nicely with the poison build but it's very versatile so you can use it with pretty much any build while in vennheim you can find virtue in the Noah Tunes Garden area security is for sale in Brock and cindery Shop up once you're done with the vanaheim main quest a third Fortune is available in the shop once you've completed the forging Destiny main quest overall remember you want to complete sets but if you don't have enough slots or can't complete a set then look for the enchantments that boost strength the most and equip those for now and keep in mind the locations for a bunch of these were changed in patch 3.0 so a lot of the online guys are incorrect at the moment I've tried to be as accurate as I can in this video and I'll link the most accurate resources I can find down below so to put it all together my ideal mid game build is based on the lunda armor both so I can leverage the bare-handed poison play style for bosses and get some solid stats to enhance the rest of my gameplay on the ax I use the Furious Mall Wrath of the frost ancient and Mists of hellheim my blades are equipped with the undying spark pommels flames of Anguish and Mimi and Crush upgrading to Atlas eruption when I can my shield is The Dauntless but the Stonewall works just as well if you don't like to Parry the round of Affliction goes on there and I use the hilt of Graham Relic I go for the vanaheim and nifelheim enchantment sets when I can get them together but I use the spartalheim and Alpine ones in the meantime alright guys those are all my gear recommendations for the mid game in Ragnarok if you enjoyed this video or learned something new leaving a like would be much appreciated if you've got a different mid game build you really like go ahead and comment down below and don't forget to subscribe so you're eligible for my holiday game giveaway as always thanks for watching and I'll catch you in the next one
