Alright, i’m gonna show some of the extra attacks and combo strings that are either really useful , or could go easily missed, since you wont find them listed anywhere. And hey, if you new here, hit subscribe. First, With the leviathan axe, there is hidden effect that can boost the speed of the serpents snare skill, which is the charged heavy attack. Normally, this attack is done by holding R2, has a pretty slow start up animation which makes it easy to wiff. But, during a heavy attack string, the serpents snare skips most of the wind up and comes out faster. Just press R2 and then hold R2 at any time during this combo sequence to weave in a quick serpents snare attack. This is useful because this combo will pop smaller enemies up in the air and then the faster serpents snare will be able to grab while they still helplessly dangle in the air. Then you can toss them off an edge, into other enemies, or into a wall with that, and this attack can be improved with a damage or element mod to make it even better. Next, for the blades of chaos, there is a shortcut to the big final hit of the light attack combo string. Usually, you have to do a long sequence to actually get to the light finisher attack. However, if you start with two heavy attacks, you can then shortcut to the final hits of the light attack combo. So, just press R2 R2, then R1 R1. You can also do it the other way, to use the heavy attack finisher instead during a light attack sequence, by pressing r1 r1 then r2 r2. And most any attacks in this game can be canceled out of with a dodge, so might as well get used to forward dodging with r1 to close out any combos with an extra hit from your dodge attack. For the leviathan axe, this is a simple one, but it can be useful for quick frost build up. Holding down r1 will do a basic attack and then initiate the glacial rake skill afterwards. But if you just continue to hold down r1, you can keep glacial rakering, over and over till the end of time. You can also be still holding r1 and dodge cancel during this to eliminate much of the down time in between attacks. If you slap the element mod onto the glacial rake, this can be a really solid way to build up the frost effect on groups of enemies or larger targets. For the blade of chaos, it can be an unassuming potent juggling tool. Hold l2 and press r1 to pull someone to you and pop them up, and then keep pressing r1 while still holding l2 to continually slam them into the ground over and over for raw damage. Or, you can be holding l2 and press r2 instead, to keep blasting them with fire, which builds up the burn effect. If you have alittle extra time you can hold down the r2 input to do a small explosion of fire off of them, which can also scoop up nearby enemies as well. And unlisted in the skills menu, the l2 plus r1 attack has a charged up variant as well, letting you socket both blades into the target and slam them down for even higher damage. Now, Thats it for some of the early game stuff you can start putting to use, but next, some later game stuff. So, spoilers going forward for gameplay mechanics and characters from alittle past the midway point of the game. Alright, When playing as atreaus, he has an alternate combo string which can lead to a unique finisher. Towards the end of the light attack sequence, he does a little trip kick move which can pop enemies into the air. But if you press r2 followed by r1 instead, you can skip right into that kick move. You can also take that a step further, by pressing r2, r1, r2, r2, r2, to do this really cool combo finisher, where he gets in a quick shot, and follows it up with a spinning aerial attack. I’m showing these off kinda quick now but I’m going to re show all these combos again but slowed down at the very end of the video, if thats more useful to ya. Next, after unlocking his soaring eagle eye skill, you can do some pretty epic stuff with this slo mo mechanic. For example, if you launch someone airborne, here im using r2 r2, you can then get in a few quick shots by holding l2 and pressing either r1 or r2. Hit triangle to pull yourself over to them and then hit r2 to pop them up again which allows you to also activate eagle eye again. Continue that sequence of pressing triangle then r2 followed by mid air shots to keep juggling them over and over. And last, heres an easy way to fire your bow alittle faster than normal. Regular standing shots will fire at this rate, but dodging and firing will allow you to instantly shoot another set of shots in quick succession. Get the timing down of Fire dodge fire, fire dodge fire, and you can be alot more effective with those arrows and building up status effects. Alright, so in recap,if that went by a bit to quick, here is every thing I explained but, slowed down for dramatic murder learning effect. That’s it, whatta think? Going to use any of those or just stick with the basics? Well, let me know or throw some stuff you figure out down in the comments and i’ll go give it a try. Thanks for checking this out today, im’ alex and ill seeya next time.
