what's up and welcome to the channel my name is sake shot and thank you for joining us today I'm gonna tell you the best Harley for your first Harley and wants to stay away from in my opinion of course and I'm going to cover season riders and new riders alike and just tell you which class and bikes I think is the best Harley for your first Harley before we get started I'd like everybody that at least likes the video to subscribe to the channel I would like everybody that used the video to subscribe but I know that's all asking a lot but I want to try to hit 10,000 by June which will be our one-year anniversary which would be amazing so I'm gonna do my part I'm gonna continue to upload and produce awesome videos so all you got to do is hit that little subscribe button and we will be good to go thank you for watching so let's go and get started with what Harley is known for touring bikes street glides and row glides and ultras bikes like these Harley like I said they're known for these bikes radios and set up for passengers saddlebags so you care a lot storage you do overnight trips great for touring obviously hence the name great for wind deflection and all kinds of stuff power out of the 114 117 s if you go with the cvos unbelievable gas mileage is great because you got a nice big six gallon tank in front of you ultimate comfort bikes okay pretty pricey but they're very comfortable bikes and I love this class I think it's an awesome class to be honest with you with plenty of power and things like that and then you have the soft tail models right below those so everything from let's say your Street Bob's up to the Heritage which is almost pretty much geared at touring to a little bit more stripped down though no radio and things like that but you still have saddlebag options leather bags some hard bag options even but these bikes your fat bobs in your lowrider s these things are really geared at giving you a lot of power and a lighter frame so whereas your touring bikes are going to be anywhere from 850 to 900 pounds your Softail series is going to be in the 750 pound range 700 pound range somewhere like that so you have a lighter frame and most of the time you can get the 114 or the 107 options in those lighter bikes so they're going to be really fast really responsive and they're going some awesome looking and fast bikes below that you're gonna go to your Sportster lineup so you're like your irons and and bikes like these your Sportster 48 I think there's only three sports errs now but these bikes are gonna give you a stripped-down old-school bike p-nut tanks not made for the long haul but they're gonna give you a really nostalgic type of bike anywhere from 550 basically to 600 pounds you have the option to add saddlebags and swingarm bags and things like that but these are your basic stripped-down harley-davidson bikes that kind of go back to the old school days when bikes were very simple and they didn't have all this electronic stuff now of course you can't get them with ABS and things like that but strip down light not necessarily made for a passenger where the Softail is you can absolutely have a passenger at most some come with somewhat of a passenger seat they come with a passenger seat not just very not not a very comfortable one but of course that can always be upgraded and things like that but the sports are very light very very sporty and and really made for in town and short rides if you're gonna do something like that and then you have these street series which is like an entry-level urban almost exclusively around town type of bike you can do some overnights and things like that but it's gonna be really tough the engines end them you know 750 or 500 the 500s are actually what they take used in the classes for the harley-davidson motorcycle classes so very stripped down very basic and then there's got to be some in-between bikes so like the pant America coming out and aurally also has a sport bike coming out so there's going to be some mods and then like that but those are the main four classes of Harley's so one thing I want to talk about is is writing position and seat height so these are two pretty big things the iron has a more forward writing position so your arms are going to be more outstretched whereas the street glide is going to be a little bit more natural the bars come back just far enough to you they're not they're not swept back by any means but the the seating position is pretty good I'm pretty much sitting in a straight up position maybe a little bit of a hunch but nothing terrible the iron was just kind of uncomfortable in that regards it wasn't too far forward and keep in mind you can fix this with handlebars and and all that kind of stuff but I also have the four controls and and if you're a new rider four controls is gonna seem probably pretty awkward especially if you're coming from like dirt bikes and stuff but I'm telling you it is so much more comfortable if you can get used to it do it because four controls is where it's at make controls there's nothing wrong with it but it's just not as comfortable I don't think so you know there's there's all kinds of adjustments and things like that that you can do seat height I'm five seven five eight on a good day and the street glide I can almost flatfoot the bike you know not not entirely I think if it was about an inch lower I could actually flatfoot completely but the iron I could flatfoot no problem and and most of the softails I can actually flatfoot no problems to the Osher ah it's about the same as the street glide but riding position is gonna vary from bike to bike so this is where it's on you to kind of go into a Harley dealership and and ask them to sit on the bikes if they don't let you sit on the bikes don't buy a bike from them because you have to be able to sit on it and make sure you're comfortable with it but it's gonna vary from bike to bike some are gonna be more aggressive than others personally I like the shriek I position I like the I like the Heritage position I even I really don't even mind like the Fat Bob I really like the lowrider seating position but I don't like the Fat Bob it's a little bit more hunched over type of feeling so I'd probably change the bars if I were to get a bike like that I like them where they come a little bit more towards me and I'm sitting a little bit more upright as opposed to being hunched over but like said this is gonna be something that you're gonna have to go in and sit on some of these bikes and see what fits you best one other thing that I want to talk about is highway speed so if you do a lot of highway driving the iron for me once I got up to 55 60 and and beyond that is a vibe a little motor and your leg is going to be vibrating for a good while after you get off the bike um you know and some people that doesn't bother them but it doesn't and highway speeds I never felt that comfortable on the iron you know I'd come from sport bikes ten years before that and I never had any kind of issues with vibrations at higher speeds and all that kind of stuff that bike man once you got to that fifth gear and it's it's it's maxed out it's just not very comfortable whereas the street glide if I'm doing 80 miles an hour man the thing is smooth as butter so it depends on what kind of load and you're doing if you're just heading in town and you're never really gonna break that 60 mile-per-hour mark it may not buggy at all I mean the iron is a great in town type of riding bike and those guys that take you have taken it on long distances but if you're doing a lot of highway driving man the the softails and the Touring's there's just no match compared to the Sportsters and especially the the street series of bikes you do have a kind of a medium if you if you say man I really like the old-school look of the ions but I want some more power you have the iron 1202 so that's something to keep in mind as well so you may be thinking well which one is best so here's what I would say for the beginner I would say you're Sportsters are gonna be the best because now you have a bike that actually looks like a Harley because let's face it the street series it says Harley Davidson and it has some horley accents but it doesn't really look like Harley and I think that a lot of people get a Harley because of the way it looks because let's face it the street series just doesn't look like a Harley and a lot of people buy a Harley because they want the look of the Harley and and the Sportster series gives you all that it gives you a light bite a lot of the times you can buy these new for under ten thousand dollars and that gives you a really solid platform to build on not only that Harley also gives you the community probably the biggest community out there where there's all kinds of rides all the time and a community that is just awesome to ride with so the Sportster to me is the best entry-level Harley to get because of the things that I just mentioned and then from there you can upgrade now if you're somebody that you said man I've been for a long time I've read BMWs I've rode gold wings or whatever if you're if you don't care about run with a passenger or you don't care about having the radio and things like that I would say absolutely get a Softail maybe even Heritage Classic I think that's that's one of the better ones the lowrider s is just an awesome bike these bikes are gonna give you a lot of power and a lighter frame but way more power than an iron or something like that that iron for a seasoned rider is not going to do it man I'm telling you it's just not but the Softail series is awesome if you're somebody that does a lot of overnighting and a lot of long-distance touring then the touring bikes are gonna be the best option and and in that category I like the Street Glide but I think the ultra actually gives you more for a little bit more money but it gives you the option to look like a Street Glide while having the comforts for your passenger and a lot of things that Street Glide owners like myself are going to be adding to the bike and spending more and more money on it that ultra kind of gives you everything right from the factory while giving the option to take the tour packing things off very quickly if you get a quick-detach kit or something like that so with that being said I think I like personally like the Street Glide better I think the old trail offers you more for a little bit more money and then in your soft tails the Heritage and the low rider s are my absolutely two favorite bikes in that category and then in the in the Sportster series the iron 883 so that's pretty much where I'm at with this let me know what you think the best Harley for you but first Harley is down in the comments below we'll see in the next one and as always hold the rubber side down
