BEEF RIB PHO & Vietnamese TACOS | New York VIETNAMESE FOOD TOUR!

lately i've been wondering just what is [Music] can you show me how [Music] good morning have not been back in chinatown new york for a long long time and i'm happy to see there's tons of people all the stores all the restaurants are open new york's slowly coming back and before anything else let's grab a bomb this is one of my favorite places to get the sandwich here in manhattan and i'm lying out the door for lunch i always go for number one barbecue pork sandwich this is balmy one out of two today the next place i'm going to go to you'll see a little corner eat my sandwich ah alexis this is my first meal of the day by the way look at that barbecue pork pickle veggies cucumbers herbs all squished inside a crispy toasty baguettes [Music] the veggies are so delightfully crunchy nice refreshing cucumbers so the meat is smoky slightly sweet and you got an extra layer of meat right there a balmy sandwich really it's like a rainbow of textures and flavors and you also got to kind of be careful because if you take too big of a bite the top because it's so toasty sometimes i get that captain crunch effect the tears open the top of my mouth i couldn't help it though when i have this in my hands i want to like unhinge my jaw and just take the biggest bite ever this is one of the few sandwiches in the world that i enjoyed the top veggie part just as much as i enjoyed the bottom meaty part oh yeah i feel better today is really exciting because i don't think i've ever done a vietnamese focused video really in new york before because i've always said i don't really think that vietnamese food in new york is nearly as good as it is on the west coast or in texas but today i found a couple places that might change all that and before we head to location number one a huge thank beside it and i never really explored this area before we'll have a pasta day sometime does this really always have this many food places whatever this ruby's place is it is jam-packed oh this place i want to go to so this is a chain i think there's a few places open five spice taco and balmy let's give it a try all right first of all the bathroom here is really cool do you see the bathroom you see it there it is and right off the bat this looks pretty unique onions on top some beef balls slices of brisket and this is the short rib so this pho has all the meats they have in one bowl which is what i wanted just want to taste everything before taking a single bite i think i made a mistake already i saw i saw them come out with a with a with a short rib fur and it's the giant dinosaur short rib thing that i love so now i'm thinking i should have got that even though this is very nice it's beautiful beautiful noodles a nice clear soup this is probably one of the clearest faux broths i've seen anywhere wow wow this is really good one of the most flavorful bowl of head in new york probably ever i'm really surprised because i might dallas i'm like there's this is like a chain place it's like a very hip place how good could the food be this is really good though so much flavor in this thing they're just like soothing my soul right now oh the soup is tremendous all right let's try the meat beef balls i mean i know what they taste like i want to try this the short rib and i think i'm going to have some food regret because i think i'm going to wish i got a massive rib in my pho oh that's good oh that rip is good i just made a huge mistake oh i didn't know i didn't know it was like a like a big short rib bone but this thing is just melting your mouth tender you see all that fat that's on this it's got a great smoky flavor as well please don't be like me please come here and get the short rib i messed up what was i thinking can i buy a short rib no no i just wanna like i just want a short rib the phone the phone oh the ball i want to buy one yeah yeah i'll be back for it i'll ring it for you they're actually gonna sell me like like a like an actual whole rib i'm so excited i'm gonna save this pho uh until the arrival of the short rib and they're so nice they brought me out a couple of appetizers i saw these on a menu i kind of wanted it but i'm eating like three more meals today so i was like maybe i shouldn't these look like tremendously crunchy wings like just superbly crunchy i knew these are going to be good i realized something the last couple weeks some of the best fried chicken i can have is at a vietnamese restaurant you don't believe me watch my mike's fried chicken video that i filmed in texas sushi tender wings were just the most amazing golden sweet crunch on the outside i can't stop eating this it was not good and also brought me some spring rolls i also love eating vietnamese food because it's the only cuisine it's actually pretty healthy for me not a single bad bite at this place so far oh i just wanted the rib oh just the ribs i just wanted a rib oh my gosh you guys are too good thank you all right i might be in a little bit of trouble i just wanted the bone but they brought me a whole bowl of but this is the reason why i wanted this rib look at this rib and i've had plenty of short rib foot in my day but this might be the prettiest look at that layer of jiggly fat that's on top watch it torquing around on a new york sidewalk and also the chilies and the herbs that's in this good god look at this thing glisten what in the world holy moly this is so pretty and you can tell already right that this is just pure luscious tenderness look at the torque i mean whatever dance contest is out there first place right away this is so crazy how good this smells still got a couple more meals today so i better get to eating i'm both excited and so scared let me just show you guys and i bet you this is gonna work look at that it's just falling off like cotton candy just like what i do with a texas beef wrap gentle little kiss using your teeth will be borderline cruel on this thing i just took a mouthful of fat i know a lot of people that's not a thing you like i love it that was the craziest thing that's so good melts in your mouth will be an understatement i gotta hurry up and eat my noodles before it goes soggy there's just subtle smoky flavor to this rib that just makes it really different because i've had a lot of short rib float before nothing like that best place really really impressive let me go on battle mode and try to take care of this [Music] we brought over a fork and a knife 100 won't need that all you need chopsticks and a tender kiss all right i'm basically calling uncle on this one i still got like three more places i'm going to and i'm meeting them for dinner tonight so too large bowl of is is really going to hinder that but they also brought out this so this is their i think one of their specialties these are uh banjo tacos sorry for the horrible pronunciation look at this little fish shrimp i think this is barbecue pork on the bottom lettuce sprouts this looks intense get this ring come here really really good delicate inky wrap on the outside so much crunch going on from the veggies to the sprouts to the little crunchy fish in the shrimp wow this is how they're adding like all that great seafood flavoring here you see this tiny fish and little bits of shrimp what a great use of that those are so good everything is so good so this place they do traditional dishes well their modern tanks are amazing this is such a great addition to the new york city vietnamese food boosting i need to take a break let's go let's go walk around take a break oh i'm so full cupcake look how pretty little cactus cupcakes this is a lavender floral latte that is just delightful it's like i'm walking through a lavender field but look at these cupcakes does this look like you're walking through the deserts of arizona or something how pretty this is i don't even want to eat this wow i wonder how long it takes to make a little cupcake like this i kind of want to just take this home and like freeze it and make it like a permanent little ice sculpture in my freezer this makes me happy every time i open it excuse me while i feed the gram that's apparently what the kids call it nowadays so this is the dark chocolate it is tiny but it is beautiful how freaking detailed is this it looks really moist too i hope it's not one of those things that look really pretty but doesn't taste that good that's delicious i was really afraid because there's so much frosting on top that was gonna be overly sweet i'm gonna give this thing the highest compliment that asians usually give to dessert items it's just not overly sweet if you hear that from an asian person that means we love it this one is the earl grey tea that's a good cupcake even better when you're paired with this seriously love that lavender or rose or whatever floral flavor you get let it just simmer then after a while you take a sip it's like springing your mouth this was a good break i think i'm ready for another vietnamese noodle soup this is a perfect time to take a walk in new york actually the best time to be in new york is in the fall or spring right now around april may perfect weather oh here it is this is the place i've been wanting to try [Music] this is a fairly new vietnamese place that just opened up i'm really excited for all these new via places opening up in the city and honestly like usually when i'm in a place like la or dlc or seattle or texas i think about vietnamese food all the time that doesn't really occur much for me while i'm in new york city but that's changing like the fudge has had at five spice i'm gonna be thinking about that a lot and it's perfect because this place is known for its bumble weight so i might have just found a good place for both of my favorite vietnamese noodle soups only problem is my stomach is still like eighty percent failed up failed filled like i was walking around today all right here was swish swish swish swish swish no regrets though no regrets well that's a pretty presentation hello darling this is a meaty bowl of bumble eye oh oh my goodness lord look at the size of this pig's feet what roth looks and smells amazing tons of tendon and beef of course beef balls i'm telling you what though i wasn't so excited to see more of beef bob because those things just take up residency in your stomach this smells so freaking good though that's delicious that's a good ball bomb boy wow ah huge beef flavor the spice is kicking my throat right here really good food especially something like this it's hard to quantify what makes it really really good i mean i i can try but the best i can tell you is when you eat a lot of these dishes like faux or bumble you take a bite of something that is truly delicious like you take a sip of the soup or a slurp of the noodle you have this emotional reaction to it that's when i know something is truly delicious or i found the one in the food realm and this is it your bite of this it's spicy it's beefy it's got so much flavor but more than anything seems to chill down my spine this is really really good today i found some fantastic some delicious bumble egg i truly feel happy okay so this is a beef ball oh my gosh this trotter this is the biggest trotter i've seen a bomb away [Music] nice good and tender fatty beef as well mixed in with these round smooth rice noodles the vietnamese food scene in new york is just getting better and better texture is great chewy noodles that nice gelatinous flavor from the pig trouter and the tendon all swimming in this delightfully spicy perfectly balanced broth broad's my favorite part and it's the most important part highly recommend the places i went to today this is so great i can crave vietnamese food again in new york i'm good i feel more than good i feel complete all right let's go to dinner i officially have problems walking right now i feel like i'm walking while carrying an aquarium in my stomach it's sort of nice though final meal for today this is fish cheek i think i put this in a vlog once really really briefly but this is a great asian seafood place what up buddy every time i film ben i have to be like this all right good to see you dude how you doing good good i see this guy like once every six months now all right this is a must get appetizer here this is the pork cheek look at this you see the layer of chard the layer of fat crispy sprinkle of garlic you smell the garlic right away this thing is so tender dip in a little bit of sauce handling food on the camera this is so good man the best of all that is pork a little bit of that chewy gelatinous skin the layer of melty fat and then the chewy meat the pork they use look at this you can actually see the marbling the fat rivering through the meat and that beautiful taste of fried garlic will just follow you chew after chew that's so good oh so good this is ben's take it's good it's good it's good stuff nice man anything else you want to say about it yeah it's good crispy it's good juicy crispy and juicy that's very nice very good take we got topped into the salad by the by the waitress also more crispy garlic wow mushroom is so good in this salad oh you know it's gonna be really good take one of these uh shrimp chips put some of that mushroom on top of this baby that's why i love this place like a shower they make it taste cracker yeah yeah good call bro food is coming out we got a lot of stuff okay so this is the crab fried rice nice okay this uh i don't see the where's the crab oh there it is okay so this is for the fried rice what do we just put it in there i guess lay it on i'm gonna put the fried rice a little garlic sauce so you can see the chunks of crab in here this is a very light fried rice yo this is so good yeah it looks good wow this looks really good oh man especially with some of the sauce yo that's great stuff that's excellent very flavorful you taste the crab oh yeah 100 the rice is light crab is very very present it's not one of those crab fried rice where you're just like where's the crab in the fried rash this is more like crap fried rice it's not like that this is actually good for our rice it's good you taste the crab flavor in every single grain right it's actually really light and it's it's like eating popcorn it's just you take a spoonful and you just look forward to the next movie you know what i mean you just keep wanting to shove those in your face look at this this is a whole brazino in lime broth garlic fresh herbs on top too this is crazy delicious how beautiful is this thing and i like the whole uh look at this this little plate shape of a fish this is going to give the first feedback all right i gotta work for you all right this is extremely moist yeah it just melts in your mouth okay so ben says this thing melts in your mouth a little bit yeah yeah wow all right buddy let's see let's see it's very tender it's good it's cooked to perfection it's super aromatic yeah you know like there you go that's that's the one you're like chewing the the the smell yeah basically it feels like we're sitting in the herb garden right now it's good it's so fresh and citrusy i think you gotta take a sip of this broth with the fish bro take a piece with the brock delicious right with the broth that's a really good i can't stop doing it you can't you can't you should not eat the fish without a sip of that broth that's like the essential part of eating that fish yo then i got you bro take a shrimp cracker put it into this i got you yeah that's the stuff that is tremendous this is a must get dish when you come here there's lime brazino it's all flaky too the flesh is just great this is the trapped with ginger basil habaneros and i see some peppercorn here too oh i love trout crazy look in this thing i still like the lionfish better it's really good yeah but try this it's really good it's really spicy it's much spicier but that limey fish is just you ain't beating that all right this is the crab curry this has got so much heat and flavor and big old chunks of crab it's so meaty and delicious this is so good yeah yeah it was very good to hit the spice in there yeah no that's amazing that's amazing you like it more than more or less than than the lime fish it's different i'll tell you this is really good uh-huh but that lime fish the juice in there uh-huh extra amazing okay all right i i can't disagree with you because they're both really delicious it's just a a case of what you're what you're down for like if you want something that's lighter get the fish if you want something that's like more saturated definitely more filling the curry is what you should go for this is great to just kind of dunk all the rice in just mix it around there we go this is how i want to do it get the rice involved that is glorious all right let's finish this stuff [Music] dessert is coconut ice cream and rice cake they don't have the mango sticky rice which is like the ultimate thai dessert you better have some good things to say about this rice cake all right because otherwise it would offend me all right like it's my love right now oh yeah that's very good wow that rice cake in this coconut it's just life-altering stuff this place is just knocking it out the park dish after dish my final verdict from ben's perspective this place you definitely have to go it's it's tremendous everything we ate is delicious all right buddy all right i'll see you in another six months or so yeah oh man let's make it like three months yeah seriously man take care bro well awesome food day and always good to see ben and that is really pretty and this is my favorite way to go home driving up the fdr um in the evening where you can see the brooklyn bridge manhattan bridge the east river is just so beautiful and peaceful this is the part of new york i really miss and i really really like nothing beats a wonderful food day here and then just driving home and seeing the bridges the skyscrapers the rivers the skyline a lot of stuff about new york i don't like these are the things i do all right i'm gonna go home and of course all the place
