Liked how Kris was really trying at the end. Like wait, no, I gotta get this guy...
then
Nahhhhh.
"You should try to hit it on the barrel"
"I am"
"Not like that"
Warning track.
Oh wow. Just rewatched the Mesa prank he pulled last year. "Hope you guys get a ring. Hope I get one. At the end of the year we'll compare." Nice.
As a professional sound engineer he sold it pretty well! I always want to get out of whatever gig I'm doing to snag lunch.
Cubs GM Larry Himes let Maddux walk away to the Braves after the 1992 season. Of course no one could predict Maddux would become a legend but this decision has to be one of the most asinine in the history of baseball.
In his final season (1992) with the Cubs, Maddux won the Cy Young, threw 268 innings, had a 2.18ERA with a 9.2 WAR. Those numbers are unreal. & how did Himes treat his prized 26 yr old phenome during this spectacular season?
"They told me I had never won 20 games or a Cy Young," (this was mid season 1992) Maddux remembers. "They basically told me I wasn't very good."
Baseball shenanigans are the best shenanigans.
I know there's cameras and everything, but Kris is genuinely a nice guy.
