hey there boys and girls the YouTube world today the duve dog on to see if we can't get a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix back on the road that's right the guy who owned the 1961 Chevrolet ba air in the salvage yard he called us said he's got a buddy who's got a building with some cards in it wants to get him out of there so yeah Pontiac Grand Prix bucket seats console all that good stuff can't pass it up so we're going to jump with the pickup Drive about two hours away load that son of a biscuit up bring her back here see we can't get her back on the road we interrupt your regularly scheduled Shenanigans to bring you a new morsky merch yeah check it out we got Richardson 115s these were made by Custom Crown they got the leather low life patch on them and anyway these things are live at mori.lee press we got a limited production run of these things and I tell you what because you guys like free stuff look at these I ran our local car show carfest for about 10 years what year are these 2017 fourth annual got a got a little pinup gal flag starter lady whatever I got a bunch of these anybody who buys a cap either the lowlife cap or the Duke cap well the first however many people we got a stack of these things we got this many of them that was the fourth annual we got a couple of third annuals I think I got one first annual extra and then a fifth annual extra so if you want one of these plaques from carfest that I used to put on I no longer do it anymore cuz I don't live in Foreman uh and they're not making any more of these so awesome collector's piece if you want one and you're one of the first however many are here I don't know how many are there we'll say uh 60 69 of them if you're one of the first 69 orders or until those things run out uh hit us up and if you leave a note when you put your order in there that you want it to autograph we will autograph the back of those things but I don't know maybe we'll autograph the front cuz you can't see both sides and and I would put like a magnetic backing on that and stick it to my toolbox or adhesive backing and stick it on the wall or the cabinet or something but mori.lee so thank you very much for whoever ordered shirts last week you guys absolutely killed it we still got shirts we got the uh do shirts uh all Next Level except for the talls the talls aren't Next Level they're a little bit different color but you tall guys like me don't care and then we got the Cowboy Cadillac we still got a few of them on hand so go check out the shirts we got uh magnetic can coozies we got magnetic screwdrivers we got pens We Got deckles You Name It We got banners we got low life banners left so hit us up mort. comom get your new swag there now back to your regularly scheduled Shenanigans look at that handsome dog over there just waiting to go for a ride how did I tell you we got to drop off and Ram Charger r on the way yeah we do you ready to go for a ride or what pop he knows anytime the pickups moved up in the Y and hooked up the trailer it's always hooked up the trailer means we get to go for an r and who loves ride and rolling in stinky poop you do what do you think do that this the transmission for it I think so I don't know what else it would be for looks like it's got a new spring in there you said you started doing some suspension work oh it's got a ball joint well I I put in ball joint I don't know if I got them in right you might have double check make sure all the hardware is tight huh bought another front end was saging it quite a bit so when they had it apart they figured we're going to just put new Springs in it sure so the the other spring and ball joints and stuff is in a box in the trunk oh perfect that far because this was off and I couldn't move it until I got this stuff on back on the place so I figur there's no use putting it together and enough thir apart put that spring in there so managed to get the spring in it power steering power brakes air conditioning oh yeah the only thing on the AC that I'm going whoops say is that we might have a little might have to do some ring because I think and you even cap the fuel lines off yeah we intended to put her together drive it cap the power steering you got to pay for your nighttime fun sometimes and that takes the precedence over you had a lot of nighttime fun did you well my son must have had some nighttime fun because he was going to start fixing up and then all of a sudden the second kid showed up same color as Dad 66 oh is it well I mean I think so they tried labeling the wires and they got taken off but I don't know if it's still read them or not oh yeah they pretty much only go one way and there ain't many wires on one of these and I don't know if that'll do you any good oh yeah assembly instructions you want to read that quick yeah oh love shop I only like them if they got pictures there's your transmission right there oh yeah looks like it check the check the serial number plate see if it matches is it numbers matching where did this car come from as far as I can tell the guy from cooperstone bought it new okay and then that's who you got it from no I I seen it sitting out on The Farmstead in the grass for two three years and I said I wouldn't mind having that b getting it working so nothing else bought it cheap enough for could turn it on and resell it so I was driving by the place one day and there was a whole bunch of cars in that yard I what's going on so I pulled in cuz I was on a service call so I didn't have a bunch of time pulled in and walked around a little bit to see my father-in-law he said is there anything here where having and this was sitting there and I said well it wouldn't that Grand Prix is probably worth something if you get it in the right Market he says what do you think it's worth and this was back in the early 80s I'm going to say I said if you got in the right Mark in the east coast it might be worth $8 $900 so I was home and I was having supper and doorbell rang and here goes him at the door he said you got a chain and I thought oh my God no he didn't buy that car he said said yep I bought that Grand Prix he say how much you think I paid for it I didn't dare answer funny said I paid 90 bucks for it so I didn't feel quite so bad because we went out to get it the next day or no later on after supper and the guy the relative of the guy that hand to farm said we're going to get ready to hook up and pull her back T he said well we had a run in yesterday really so we put a booster on battery fired it up and drove it to town nine miles so that was on a sale an it was an auction sale okay because you set all the cars and so we backed it in the door here there's light little stream of water running out of it he looked underneath and the transmission was leaking so he took it in had a seal put in transmission on it and my son drove it around town for about two years while he was working and stuff like that before he went to college so we thought about little little rust in that rear quar but not bad carpet's all out so you can see the floors are nice vacuum gauge console shifter got everything tagged and bagged looks like some new seals in there got the old shnikes handle shnikes headliner got a little stained oh that's it's a pretty cool dome light I haven't seen any evidence of i in it but I'm not saying it hasn't been one no I way the seat as good as the seats look you'd think that the the mice were in there there'd be a nest that one is full the 56 is that corner piece on here yep somebody's hit it and punched the hole so that that's that's the biggest what I call is that fiberglass or is that like pot metal poal pot metal as I know that's the worst D on it other than couple probably some still has a spatter paint Pontiac thing could be oh yeah door cards in the console and everything's back here yeah there's part of the console Factory hub caps flexi hose no car is complete without a flexi hose car is getting pretty faded D that that be yeah those emblems are cool so there's boxes in here that've got the plastic bags which supposedly written on where some of the bolts and stuff go won't say that you're going to find everything that you've got there but well you seem pretty organized so I think if it's if it's here it's going to be tried to get it together because I can't remember anything for more than two minutes so I that written down look at that uh trunk light that you could uh pull it out and use it as a trouble light yep so those headrests for those seats yep center console lockable oh yeah you don't want anybody stealing your handle of vodka yeah there's a key for the trunk what do you think do how's it look under there last tagged in 89 Farmers Union number or State Farm Way off cuz this is all grand prix stuff here cuz these would be the tail lights on a 6 a normal 63 like a Catalina Yep they're a little different but that's Grand Prix they had to change them just a little bit wow no extra charge for the barn dust buffing this stuff here to take some of this out but it was it's in it's down to that level so there this must be the final sure yeah like you said if it sat outside for 20 years probably was never in a garage until you got it in here I never seen it around anywhere so I don't know that it was actually outside that long okay where did it which direction did it come from West okay well there's the starter AC pump AC fenders Hood alternator on Brack there is that the exhaust for it too then yep it's all here the only thing that I'm not sure about is a manifold I just thought of that here exhaust manifolds or intake exhaust I got it I got the engine in the pickup and I don't remember Dan saying that the man was WR so it might have got taken off and mess up some yeah that'll be fun to try to figure out how to put that all back together I've never had one apart inner fenders fan shroud everything we need it's like a it's like a big model car set yep no glue required is what we dreamed of when we were little kids I never painted any of those either so nope I I didn't finish many of them either start mixing and matching Parts kind of like cars I was good at just buying them tires are all up what a deal huh Duff all right we got mow man here you all all cleaned up for the special occasion yeah I got to go to a wedding tonight I think it's going to want to go backwards is it yes I wanted to keep it inside here you go oh are those steel toes yes they are steel toe Jesus shoes I bet they leave some really awesome Tan Lines oh they do speaking of tan lines how come you're wearing a shirt today because offy well you'd have some really awesome Tan Lines if you and you're telling me that you would wear this shet 500 shirt 2012 that's not even that old I know it is for him he's a child we're going through the trunk and everybody talks about you know bagging and tagging bolts these guys actually did it front chassis Hardware I think that's core support Hood bolts fild Defender bolts a bunch of these are for the seat and the interior you know front seats view joint flywheel cover carb linkage lines carb lines I don't know did you find it all everything we need think so transmission mount everything is labeled awesome battery tie on even says battery one bag has two bolts in it just so it's separate from everything else and apparently it was in Colorado in 73 special bag for fan blade bolts four oh it's cuz those are fine thread yes 88 all right let's start putting her together we got all the parts drug out core support Mount vro bumper Grill inner fenders fenders transmission exhaust and looks like it even comes with a new exhaust pipe Mufflers headlights F power steering pump you name it it's all here speaking of not being all here look at this guy [Music] here [Music] n [Music] [Music] well see if the hood shuts latches lines up doesn't Bend any got to slide it ahead no well that just you see you have for this this yeah here's all right it's my first time seen daylight in [Music] 30 so you got the old GP back in the shop here and I think it would be really satisfying to to wash it all off so let's uh get this started just kidding leaving our shirt on for this it is hot enough out that I think you could take your shirt off pretty excited I need to find out what color this is it's got to have a really awesome name all right let's do this I think it'll be the first time we've ever washed something before we worked on it probably on the channel anyhow I've definitely watched things before I worked on them maybe probably [Music] not let's take a pressure washing break and check out the dvorac model 258 iron worker made in Cosmos Minnesota near as I can tell these guys were bought out by Scotchman Industries or this design anyway dvorac got bought out by unah Hydro they still make the unah hydro Scotchman still makes the the Scotchman iron workers Mojo got her all cleaned up she's nice and pretty now we still got to do a little wiring we had to put a different on it but that cord is it's not up to MSHA according to Mojo and then you put a hydraulic hose on it turns out that wasn't the leak so now we're going to tear apart the cylinder and put some seals in that's just a single acing cylinder so that means it's got pressure going to the base end and the uh rod end there's really nothing going on there and then there's Springs inside that just pulls the machine back up so what's happening is the piston in here it's letting oil get past it and then getting on the top side here and there really isn't a seal on this top cap and that's where the oil's coming out so we got to reseal the Piston we're thinking hopefully the cylinder itself the barar is in good shape but yeah this came from the same place as that Pontiac pretty excited about it you can Shear your angle iron you can punch holes there's a bunch of different dieses this is like 2564 just a little bit oversized for 38 we're going to be building a lot of stuff with 38 bolts and then you can Shear flat iron as well through there so you'll probably be seeing much of that see if I can zoom in on this tag the hydraulic iron worker manufactured by dvor Machine Company Cosmos Minnesota model 258 it's got the patent number and the serial number 921 1966 so it's not super low I don't know what they started with for serial numbers but I think this thing was built pre-1962 so the year before the Grand Prix was actually built probably the same year anyway so this thing was sitting in the corner the guy said that he got it because somebody owed him some money so he got it uh he didn't know if it was single phase three phase he' never used it we assumed it was three-phase so I made him an offer he said yep sounds good brought it home tore it apart sure enough two horsepower single phase so wire up everything works so now we just got to fix some leaks and we'll be good to [Music] go the old Pricks cleaned up pretty good I was pressure washing in here and boys is that paint thin as soon as I started washing there it went right down to that primer so it was kind of backed off on the old trunk lid didn't find much for surprises we knew this little scuff was there and there's that little rust hole down there I did find one little whiskey dent in the hood might even be able to work that one out from the backside this thing is so dang fast going down the road it blew all the paint right off and then I don't know if that didn't want to take that off it's like something rubbed on it and then there were some blue goo on here I don't remember where that was oh right there like they set some he was an HVAC technician so I don't know if they set something on there it's almost like blue RTV there's a couple screws we should probably save yeah that like that looks like a hand print like somebody had a thumb one two three four fingers there I don't know what they said on there yeah no big surprises now we're going to roll it outside and let her sit for a while and we're going to tear that engine apart and see what we got to do there all right Dove stay tuned you still haven't got to check the inside of this thing out yet and you're not going to get to right meow meow so we ripped down the engine out of that 63 Pontiac Grand Prix the previous owner had told us that it was weak when they uh quit driving it so they actually pulled the engine out and they took it to somebody and that said somebody took it all apart and they never did anything with it and then they put it all back together for us it was all in one piece but we found out there was no intake gaskets there was no rings in it there was no head gaskets so it needed to come apart anyway so Mojo ripped it all apart uh for inspection so I think we can just get away with putting rings and bearings in it we'll we'll do a you know fuel pump water pump oil pump timing gear you know get a gasket set paint it all up nice but we're not going to Bard it out right now there's a lot of problems with cam shafts and lifters just quality issues uh metal lgy issues so I don't want to get into doing a cam shaft and lifters if this was a car I plan to keep forever or if this was some crazy numbers matching 421 something yeah I would but we're pretty limited risk we throw it all together and there's crap in the bearings or if it burns oil or smokes so be it we're only out our time and and a little bit of Parts but I don't want to take the camp Shaft or the the crankshaft in and the Block in and get it all hot tanked and and it just snowballs and we we're going to have 5 67,000 into this engine and I don't want to do that so we're going to inspect it all first check the crank U make sure everything's within specs and make sure that it's uh standard bearings or we get the right bearings if they have been turned I believe everything's standard same deal with the cylinder bards and we're going to get some new rings and everything coming and then we'll uh put this thing all back together but so far yeah the 389 looks good Mojo's got her pretty well cleaned up we're going to get a dam it over here and we're going to measure these BS it looked like the block stood up on the end wall and there was you know a little bit of pitting not much but a little bit on the uh back sides of these cylinders uh we took a ridge reamer and took that Ridge out popped it out there was a little bit of Ridge nothing too crazy somebody when they put it all back together they did Lube the cam shaft and the lifters so you know they did a an all right job there but everything looks pretty good we're going to get new engine mounts turns out uh the left side you can get the right side's a little bit harder to find but I did find one on eBay I get everything pretty much from Rock Auto otherwise here's all our Pistons Mojo marked them all as he took them out same deal with our main caps bearings all look pretty good but bearings are cheap and since we're in this far and they're readily available we're just going to throw some new ones in and then like like I said the the Rings were missing so we're going to put uh you know new set of rings in there but we're going to measure it all first I mean we're not going to throw rings in it if the cylinder walls are way out around same deal with the crankshaft if that needs to be turned so be it we we will get it machined if we have to if it's we're pissing up a rope here but I think everything's going to be pretty good everything looks like looks like we caught her in time you know these bearings actually could probably go back together but cheap insurance throw some new ones in there so that's uh that's where we're at with this thing working on ponchos 8 Duff here's the heads off that 389 Poncho valves look good but I do have uh valve tooling resurfacing grinding stuff so we'll probably touch those up since we got it apart also looks like we got a couple of snapped off exhaust bolt somebody's already tried drilling that one so we got to fix that stuff and and then the uh timing cover slw water pump housing here I don't know what these plates are for they got a little corrosion in there I don't think it's going to affect the water pump but and uh we can always pop the water pump out fix that stuff later if we've got to I'm guessing if I had another 389 laying around we could steal that stuff out of it but I'm guessing they would be just as bad in that engine so just some things we notice this timing cover is aluminum pretty uh big bulky piece of course we're going to be putting new main seals and all that stuff in while we got it apart you know because that's what we do but hopefully we'll show you a little bit of going going back together and then showing you at least how to do one of the sets of elves you guys don't want to see all that boring monotonous stuff but we got her all apart so we know what we're getting into I did look for quite a while to find just a 389 a run and driving car or a good 389 Pontiac to just drop in there cuz I know how much time we're going to have invested in this and we're not technically doing it right I mean to do it right we probably should have this thing board and throw everything at it but like I said the cam shaft valve train issues that we're having currently in this world that we live in I didn't want to get into that and uh I don't love the car that much yet and we can always do that stuff later but I I couldn't find long story short I couldn't find any 389 Pontiacs to drop in there and you can't drop Dr like a 350 400 455 Pontiac in there cuz then you got to swap Transmissions cuz they don't bolt up and the starter's on a different side or mounts differently or something and it would just snowball and I want to keep this thing stock cuz I don't have a bunch of other Pontiac parts laying around and I don't have a a running 400 Pontiac motor and triny to drop in there if I had something like that we could do it we had that 350 Pontiac that was super super stuck but we did get running out of that 70 Pontiac is that Pontiac yeah but anyway we wouldn't put that in we wouldn't wish that on our worst enemy so like I said I did try to find an engine I mean there's some $3,000 cars out there but even those engines are iffy and I'd rather spend $2 $3,000 getting this thing redone than throw a iffy engine and I paid a bunch of money for so rant over now let's get some parts coming and do some inspecting and go from there what do you think about engine rebuilds yeah you're not a fan me either oh who's a good boy who's a good pu duffers all right we got to get back to work you stink what did you roll in this week we interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you a morsky minute that's right we haven't had one in quite a while you folks have been asking so here we are let's talk about Pontiac you can't talk about Pontiac without first talking about Oakland Oakland was started in 1907 Pontiac Michigan you can guess where this is going by Edward Murphy by 1909 Oakland had been bought out by William Durant of General Motors by 1926 they needed a sister company or a lower lesser model car for the Oakland to try to improve sales and that is where the Pontiac came up uh Pontiac Michigan is named for uh Ottawa Chief is that's where the Pontiac name comes from uh then we got the Great Depression come around and by 1931 Oakland was pretty much Dead uh Pontiac had been outselling the Oakland so Pontiac remain and became its own division of General Motors in 1933 1932 and uh 1933 1932 they had their own V8 what did they call that thing the 302 series V8 one year only then they went to what are you doing sneaking in the pocket of my shirt you goon uh by 1933 they went back to the they went to the straight eight which They Carried until 1954 in 1954 they came out with the Strat streak V8 right duve uh interestingly enough the Pontiac was the number one selling six-cylinder car in 1928 and was also the number seven selling car out of all the car manufacturers that were available in 1928 which was there was quite a few car manufacturers back then actually and then the depression kind of killed a bunch of them off much like what happened to its uh parent company the what was the name of that Oakland the Oakland Pontiac made a bunch of Evolutions over the years they uh they're basically the the the main GM companies the Cadillac the Buick the oldmobile and then the Pontiac fell right below the oldmobile and then Chevrolet was kind of the bottom of the barrel so it was maybe a little bit classier version of the Chevrolet or maybe a little bit less classier version of oldmobile call it however you want in 1959 Pontiac kind of uh did a little bit of marketing and they came out with the wide track which was actually 4 in wider than the previous 1958 version so why not take the wide track that leads to [Music] Pontiac and then that's where they came up with the moniker we build excitement which I remember well into the 9s probably into the 2000s they were using it Pontiac rebuild excitement reild excitement we bu excit and they evolved with that we build excitement 1962 Pontiac monikered the Grand Prix guess who helped develop it the gentleman that we all know for one famous car the [Music] DeLorean John DeLorean himself helped develop not only the GTO but also the Grand Prix that you're seeing on this video here uh in 1962 the first year we got a 63 mod model here 1962 uh it was basically a sport package for the Catalina or trim package where you got uh bucket seats you got a little bit of the luxury in performance uh it was a strip down I don't know I don't get the whole luxury thing but they had less trim on it less is more is kind of what they were going for at that time uh they had the 389 base model engine which varied anywhere from a four barrel at a little over 300 horsepower to you could get a a dual quad to four Barrel 421 that was a screaming 45 horsepower that was a $2,250 option which is about 21,000 $22,000 in today's dollars so that was a pretty expensive option that was like getting a Hellcat in your Grand Prix back then the base model car was uh just under 3500 bucks $34.90 which is the equivalent of just about $34,000 so these are pretty expensive cars in their time uh some of the things that you got with the uh Grand Pre options you got the bucket seats you got the console you got the V8 uh they came standard with a three-speed manual but you could upgrade to a four-speed manual or the four-speed automatic transmission that we have here you could get the safety track differential which we have here air conditioning which we have here power steering and power brakes also which we have here you could get power windows and a power driver's seat which we do not have cruise control I can't remember if we got that I think we do and then there was also a couple other options uh Factory they had dual exhaust uh manual transmission cars got a tack automatic transmission cars like ours got the vacuum [Music] gauge uh rear fold down armrest was Factory as well and the moride vinyl seats Uncle Terry had to tell me about these but anyway they're a little bit heavy vinyl than used in the Chevrolets just a little bit heavier more robust that's why I think these seats are in such good shape moroa vinyl your worthless information of the day about Pontiac vinyl seats they also came Factory with real Walnut trim very nice really nice and one other really cool option that this car does not have but it would it's always been kind of intriguing to me is eight Lug brakes so you could get these cars with a a brake drum but instead of having like a eight lug pattern like this the eight lugs were way out here kind of like the wide five Ford pattern that Ford had from 36 to 39 but anyway the Hub and the brake drum were all one giant piece and I believe they were 14-in wheels and then the the wheel just was basically the rim with a couple lug nuts on it and that was all part of the wheel so you you had to use the factory Pontiac eight Lug Wheels cuz you couldn't just go by an aftermark and torque thrust because of this huge bolt pattern but these cars look just mean with them on there anyway this car does not have the eight Lug Wheels as you've seen and it probably won't ever have them because that stuff is like unobtanium but maybe someday we'll find a a eight Lug setup we did see one at the chiet swap meet and they varied between models and years so you got to make sure you get all the right stuff to do it right but we did see one of the chiet swap meat that was pretty reasonable when I was down there with pudding but it sold that day and I didn't have a Pontiac to put it on at that time so anyway there you have it thank you for uh sticking with us through the morsky minute I know you guys have been asking to bring it in here it's way longer than a minute uh morsky minute is brought to you by Mor sky.com go check it out for all your morsky swag we got banners we got keychains we got magnetic Koozies we got magnetic screwdrivers we got deal we got shirts we got ball caps go check it out mori.lee you didn't know Pontiac was killed by GM on October 31st Halloween 2010 and the grand PRI ran from 1962 all the way to 2002 as coups and from 1989 until 2010 is sedans the more you know now we should get back to work onol yeah all right we got our Pontiac slim JY transmission bolted up to our 389 we set this thing down on our Wildfire lift and slide it in place so [Music] [Music] pretty I think I found it found it found it baby and what an ugly mount it is super super super wide and then it doesn't have bolts in the end so there must be some clamping mechanism that holds it in place carriage bolts I don't know it's the widest train across Mar I ever seen is there some type of clamps that go over the top and hold it down oh boy we could probably use a new traning mode that thing's uh real Squishy look at this fancy Pontiac stuff and the the transmission cross member slides into these rubber mounted isolators how neat is that how neat is that I'm sure they don't reproduce them maybe they do either way clean them [Music] up [Music] and watch the holes ready yeah no more just just about a half inch or so okay get this one in there all close the old marks looks like still could come back just to a you hold on that without knocking my teeth out there engine mons are in if I hold up on that transmission can you slide that forward yeah here's a predicament here we got these studs coming off the Crusty rubber Mount we're going to take the mounting bolts out there sneak these in first and then put those in gain a little clearance we have clearance clearance Roger Roger what's our Victor Victor engine mounts on this thing super easy just a hole you got to line up so dropping it in it goes freaking fantastic and then lining up the holes a little bit more difficult I left those loose looks like we're going to have to slide it back a little bit transmission n then they can't be wrong on the pap that you're ready no oh somebody else start car yeah well weing F that you ever seen me label anything we take out no I've seen you label stuff but I can't read it after get those [Applause] all [Music] that Wildfire Jack sure makes it handy H Mojo you probably don't want that bolt coming loose ain't much holding that engine in place as those are where's all that play at right there we uh should probably get an idler arm ordered huh H yeah looks like somebody put a new ball joint over there yeah new string on that side too yeah well now it's just everything else right yeah here I'll get the speedo cable hopefully he labeled everything for us right I wonder if I can figure out how this shift linkage goes together there looks like we just need two Cotter Keys maybe a washer look at that b it just went in there there you go huh this clip just don't like me very much Mojo says we got to drop a fuel tank and I can smell it so I can about imagine you think it's going to be any good good for what B fire depends on I don't even think that stuff's going to burn all right let's get her drop down hopefully we can clean it out otherwise we're going to order a new one right yeah you know what you should have done you goof what he that perfectly good hydraulic jack you know what you push the button raise this nice Wildfire lift and I'll hang on to this isn't that genius bring the car up instead of the fuel tank down yeah but you yits I shoot yits yeah but you got to a pill or two that has to be slick well it don't matter if the car goes up or this goes down it's the same thing right same thing you can if we screw up you can say I told you so hold on hold on hold on oh it stinks so bad did you take did you look in the filler neck see if whatever's up there it ain't SL there's rubber there but it's supposed to slide out okay down here where no it is yeah there he is then there's that I'm little bolt in here I took out already oh if I get that gas fill on me I'm going to be real unhappy well I know so M put your bar between the floor of the car and the top of the neck and just hold down on that so that that neck can't go up you think there's an o-ring in there there is I read it in the book you read it in the book last I was reading up on this stuff oh boy Linda must have ready I don't know if you can read oh must have been picture okay they probably been in there a couple years you know W for chees are we making any [Music] progress [Music] H I can see that O-ring starting to peep out of there there she is stinks so bad everything unhooked yep yep yep yep yep all right open that let's go to the back door you sure grab the end the got the stinky spout on it the odds that O-rings any good anymore Duff even you know that tank is bad news don't worry we'll definitely dispose of the liquid that is in here a proper environmentally friendly manner nothing is greater than the force that holds two 5 gallon buckets together Mojo I don't think it's gravity I think there's some friction involved here sure okay let's set it on the fender instead of a roll away don't get on them good jeans look at that nice red green the Red Green show you ever watch that yeah my favorite it's your favorite the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy remember if women don't find you handsome they should at least find your handy good thing you shook up yeah yeah it looks a little rusty suppose that stuff will burn oh sure you want to put it be it I don't want to put on my vehicle but that 62 would burn it oh sure burn W it's coming out the neck up here I the crotching my pants get all that dirt nice dirt in oh what well what do you think I think we're looking for a new tank looks like yeah ain't going to clean up very well the inside of the tank looks about like the neck oh yeah you guys can see it there's the fuel sender and it looks like the filter is about rotted off uh no amount of CLR or whatever is going to fix that thing up I don't really have good luck with cleaning tanks like I hopefully they make one sometimes when you got a obsolete tank of you know a 59 Maserati XL 2R jyz you got to try to save it but I'm guessing they make tanks for this so we'll see if we can get one ordered cuz this thing's bad real bad new tank sending unit and that O-ring and then hopefully we'll be back in Action well we had the old Pricks up in the air here we blew out the fuel lines we did a little more investigating on the uh differential check this out pretty excited and you know I don't get excited so here it is so right here at about the 7:00 this is 6 this is 7 o' can you believe people can't read clocks anymore I scratched it out and I saw an l and oh man is that limited slip Mojo says look at that tag up there I don't know if you guys can read it safety track differential there it is you guys can see that so that's what Pontiac called their a limited slip the safety track and you can see that L right there or maybe not and you can see a nine to the left of it so l means limited slip or safety track 9 means it's a 323 so that's a pretty good find 323 is a dang good gear ratio 8's a 342 Z is a 308 which sounds like 308s were super common in these things you can get them get them with like 264 but 323 safety track limited slip very nice I like wo very nice so hopefully we can get both those Wheels spinning at some point once we get it running uh new fuel tank is on order new radiator is on order new sting units on order hopefully they'll be here and two shakes of a jack rabbits behind and we'll be back on Pontiac things cuz we like Pontiac things don't we Duff but anyway it's uh 6 o00 on Friday night so we might crack a sandwich yeah have a safety track limited slip celebratory sandwich you just want to go for a ride that's what you want one or the other we can't do both okay ride it is are we back working on the uh Grand prick stuff yeah he's all excited about it we got fuel tank in Radiator in we even got lights working we started playing with some Wheels I don't know if I'm in love with them yet yeah we're not in love with them but we'll see we'll see we got to do some mounting up we cleaned up the carpet it didn't clean up real well we're drying it out here on the back don't we can't show them that dff cleaning them up on the back of the oil 36 here and it is it's pretty tattered so fortunately we're going to have to get some new carbon 389 is in place we got pretty much everything hooked up we were waiting on a freeze plug for the front we got a battery set in here it turns over we got all new brakes front to back we got upper control arm bushings lower control arm bushings tie rod ends iners we didn't replace we did the outers new Springs up front new radmor hoses got to put a belt on yet we got that new radiator in there we found the uh hold down bracket we never did find the uh fan shroud what's left though one we even got all the AC stuff plumbed and put some new rubber hose on there even carburetor is rebuilt exhaust is all hooked up and then there with some new exhaust pipe in here and it comes to about right here and then there's a muffler and then it just kind of dumps so we need tail pipes right cuz we're not the dump at the rear end or side exit type guys are we duffers no so I think what we're going to do today is we're going to put I think oils in it we already we primed it when we had it on the stand we re- ringed and rebaring and reg gasketed this entire engine and we primed the oil pump when we had it on the engine stand we never have run it though so we're going to put cool in it we're going to put ATF in it hopefully our fingers crossed our slim gy transmission doesn't slim out on us I think Duff found a mouse in the mouse trap so we're going to go check that cuz it's that time of year and then uh yeah see if this thing fires up air cleaner Hood belts some fluids we should be ready to drive this thing today and we got to figure out wheels and tires we got a 23575 in the back and that is all the tire that you can get underneath this thing there is not much room for tires underneath 63 Grand PRI and we got to get some carpet ordered so I'm going to try to do that today remind me order that carpet what are you doing back here go is there a Mosi in that Victor trap oh I bet there is you're better than a cat oh yeah I can see the feal matter right there oh yeah hey buddy well I'm going to go uh definitely release him into the wild don't be spilling all over I'm trying not to but you know how me stop a little on the outside it'll so in checking to make sure it didn't run off the bottom yeah that ain't never happened before has [Music] it [Music] [Music] check out these new hats Richardson 115s with the leather branded custom crown made logo in there get your yours at morsky they're so cool even Mojo's wearing you're the coolest kid in town now huh you bet hold on hold on did you forget to take the the paper insert out of the inside of yours too God dang it that was for support you need all the support you can get kids these days you know I thought a small block Chevrolet held three gallons of coolant this is like like five now it's probably oh draining right into the cylinders you got that right there look at that brand new 3 Milwaukee ratchet you get you get treated all right around here I think got are made in the shade of all these fancy tools yep kind you remember when you had to take stuff apart with a stick and a rock right right look at there a hammer and a dll chisel yeah sometimes I wonder if you still don't take things apart using those same tools well what you get used to stick to what you're good at huh well I think I'm going quit right there for no is it over full no yeah it's probably going to suck some down and then it's going to have to pump enough to fill the right there radiator I'd put another couple quarts in there it'll pump it down and then we got to fill the the lines they were all empty too yeah the co I got give me your rag leak up here here oh dang it we got a thermostat housing leak we [Music] good hopefully just snug in those up fixed it looks like it's ain't leaking anymore we didn't snaping ear off the thermostat housing so that's [Music] good no puddles yeah I see a p that's from you spilling though right huh is that puddles from you spilling or you don't see no puddles I see a puddle but I don't think it's from me spilling I raise it up check it out huh raise it up check it out check it out D it's cooling where's it coming from there it is coming off the bottom of the oil filter housing it's coming down the valve cover why would it be coming off the back of the valve cover it's a you Le up on that where come coming from that oh that shouldn't have ran all the way back up I bet there's that hose right above it I wonder if it's not coming off that hose somehow I didn't yeah I didn't hardly spill any and that would have had to run all the way down the Valley Pan and then down the side of the block it wouldn't have came down the valve covers we'll set her down and see what we can find [Music] so looks like just a little bit of coolant drizzled out of this hose before I hooked it up and ran down the valve cover and down the back of the engine block so keep an eye on it but should be good engine's full little gas in the tank you say you got to have a little gas in the tank yeah we don't want to run out of gas again in the shop in the shop good thing I got three gallons of gas left in this guy from last week when we thought we'd ran out of gas and Casper that's a good thing we leaked all that gas out earlier cuz I'm pretty sure we just ran over Petr hopefully this don't leak since it's brand new we don't want to match in the gas tank boom boom match in the gas tank boom boom that's another reason I don't like exhaust that dumps at the rear end a it gets your rear end hot B it gets the bottom of your car hot see it's blowing all that hot air and Sparks if it backs fires right onto your fuel tank that's not so good we got gas in the tank Duff put a little hot sauce in the Carter where's the oh I guess we'll just have to fill through those bowls whoops all right give her a shot give her a shot just going to light rate off ouch whoa you remember which way the timing goes clockwise or counterclockwise as supp as you got this tight so I can't turn it try here again hold on all right crra it over check for spark okay we got all kinds of spark it uh it sounds like the exhaust is plugged up you suppose there's a mouse nest in them pipes you didn't check in there blow them out should we pull a pipe off or pull the pipes out unbolt them at the manifolds and cuz yeah it seems like it's laboring really hard to try and start yeah really seems like it's wheezing so it's trying to push the exhaust out a little so LIF up pull the exhaust down and see what we can find that a good idea Dove he says yeah all right we cracked all the manifold bolts loose not the manifold bolts the manifold of the downpipe bolts loose all four of them so see if it's going to be louder for sure see if that alleviates the back pressure okay sure me playing with the timing didn't help try her again try it flooded hit it okay the time is was like was like one and a half spots off it's funny it even ran that's why it was so sluggish cuz the timing was was far enough off sounds pretty good oil pressure oiless probably just got a light really didn't even electrocute myself this is a terrible design they got the water pump and then the water pump housing or uh timing chain housing and then there's just like a rubber grommet that goes between that aluminum housing and the cast iron intake so those are going to expand at different rates and uh it's it's just dripping in there and of course it gets pitted up and I don't know terrible design Pontiac so we got to figure out what to do there and in order to take this housing off you got to pull all the timing gears and everything out so pulling the intake is going to be our best bet but you got to drain all the fluids and everything else you don't have to pull the distributor on a Pontiac at least but let's uh hook the exhaust back up and Mojo is going to adjust the points cuz he thinks the points need adjusting all right we're back are you ready for this this is my favorite part of any build wheels and tires and stance which I'm not entirely in love with this thing had brand new Springs that came with the car we cut a coil off because why wouldn't you we did that before we even put them in and uh it's still a little bit higher than I like but we'll have to get it on the ground and start driving it and see where ends up at before we go any lower but we got 15 by7 American Racing polish torque thrust I think they're twos or they're D's anyway polish torque thrust all the way around 23575 15 hand Cooks on the back which is a bit too wide we might have to go down to some 225s and some 215 75s up front let's take a look at this thing they look pretty good look probably look better with disc brakes but you know we're on a budget here these wheels I picked up on Facebook Marketplace there was four wheels three tires had that giant white wall on their 23575 they were old tires I think I P paid like 200 250 bucks for all of them so good deal I always looking for uh some good deals on Wheels leftand thread on the left side Pontiacs your worthless information half inch studs so uh the lug nut guys hooked us up with some wheel studs go check those guys out uh Lugnut guys.com and yeah looks could come down a little bit in the front we're tucking a fair amount of Tire in the back we're almost almost tucking rim almost looks good probably could have painted those brake drums but you guys know we don't paint anything Mojo and I and DB set the hood on last night for everybody checked out we're waiting on a seal for the power steering pump this seal that goes right around here for the canister she's uh weeping a little bit so we got to order a kit so I don't know if we're going to get her finished this week probably just going to have to Loop the hoses and also we're waiting on a power steering belt that should be here today though but we still won't have our seal yeah this thing's looking pretty good we're about ready to uh go for a drive we got a new air filter we got air cleaner sitting waiting to go on yeah I'm pretty excited about those wheels and tires we got to get it on the ground to see how it looks the Wildfire lift is kind of uh deceiving so but you can always go lower just wanted to give you guys a quick update all right look at this Duff she is off of the lift don't worry about that model over there you guys don't I mean that car over there can't look at that thing but air cleaner on it the alternator needs bearings it's growling really bad so we're going to have to tear that apart let's see if Mojo can overhaul that or else we'll get a different one coming uh the slim JY transmission works we had to put about a gallon of ATF in it cuz that's what we do with every transmission we got a few pie pie of Hardware we got to put in on this front end we got to adjust the hood so it latches what else we got du we got to put door panels on it we got to put side trim on it we haven't determined if we got to lower it yet I think it's acceptable but I think I would like it lower we got to put a mirror on it we got to get the carpet coming we got to clean the inside real good we got to put the console in it yeah reverse is all the way at the back it's Park neutral drive a little reverse so that scared me when I put it in what I thought was reverse but it's actually neutral and it didn't move the old slim gym is not a very desired transmission and nobody really works on them do they Duff so we were uh going to be highly disappointed if that didn't work but oh we got to uh adjust the valve train there's some some clattering going on up there so we can't really take it for a ride but seems like it runs good we're waiting on that power steering seal so we're waiting on some parts I usually try to bang these cars out in one video we've been having doing this one in the background for I don't know how long we did the engine first then the engine sat around done for a while and we had that 63 golden pal on this lift and then we brought this one in and there's still work to do and I wish we could have it all done and ready to go and you know drive it 100,000 miles and be like oh this car was amazing but it's the middle of winter and we got to make videos every week so unfortunately we can't finish a car every week but this one I really hate to get rid of it cuz where am I going to find another 63 Pontiac Grand Prix in this good a shape other than a little bit of rust in the legs this thing is real nice and then there's a couple little dingers in the back quarter panel if you want to own this thing price and availability in the video description um pretty proud of this one so we'll see yeah we did brakes on it we did upper and lower control arm bushings we did ball joints we did tire rod ends it's got new Springs it's got new tires uh new Rings bearings in the engine new water pump new oil pump new fuel pump rebuilt carb carburator new plugs cap wires rotor battery cable battery radiator hoses belts all that stuff this thing has got a ton of new parts on it it's been an absolute ton of work like I said we've been picking away in the background Mojo has done majority of the work when I don't need him on what I'm working on he just kind of plugs away on this that's why we didn't you know show the engine cuz Mojo doesn't like a camera shoved in his face when he's you know gapping rings and uh checking bearing clearances and all that good stuff and Tor and stuff but does a just a bang up job I can't praise Mojo enough uh all the work he does around here so anyway if you want to own this thing hit us up Morky repair gmail.com price and availability is in the video description like I said this one's we're not giving it away I can tell you that cuz I kind of want to hang on to it but at the same time you can't keep them all these cars are so cool console it's got the big vacuum gauge in the center which I would like to uh convert to a tachometer Factory AC car 389 you could get them with the 421 power brakes power steering U it's got the torque thrust on it she's got a posy uh i' like to put tail pipes running out the back so who knows if somebody doesn't buy it then uh we'll do all that stuff uh and if somebody buys it they can do all that stuff or they can do whatever they want to do to this car so thank you very much for watching check out our other videos like share comment subscri subcribe all that good stuff go check out your merch morsky we got some fresh new Lids in there uh everybody orders this week orders these Lids or the uh do Lids we're going to try to throw in
