good morning everybody we are once again starting a video here in the equipment shed and that's because we're going to be unhooking this little new hauling tractor and hooking it up to our class rake we got to rake some grass today last couple of videos we've been mowing some grass with the swather and the hay bond header over there it's getting dry hopefully this afternoon we can rake it and then maybe tomorrow afternoon i can start bailing with the round baler and then later on this week we're going to start doing some small square bills as well we're going to have to drop this auger off here and then we'll pull out because the rake is actually just behind the [Music] shed [Music] this tractor has an on off switch which just is absolute because sometimes when you turn the tractor off even if the ignition is completely off it'll still drain the batteries for some reason and just kind of get around that we have that switch there off is off it's never going to drain the batteries like that we'll let this thing warm up a little bit in the meantime we're going to drop this auger off right here we can still get those two trucks out even though the auger is behind it because the back wall there is actually a big sliding door and we just drive straight out if we needed to so we found the rake this is the only cloth piece of equipment that we have 2700 rake solid units if you can keep it out of the power poles and uh you can see hooks up with a three-point hitch right here it's actually only two points we only need the two points on the three-point hitch it doesn't need a third it's uh solid there so you don't need it but uh let's back this tractor up see if we can actually line this thing up it's always a little bit difficult a little annoying with the two points getting those things straight we'll see if we can get her done that should be it got her all hooked up i'll pull in front of the shop and my sister miriam is actually gonna be running this thing she always does all the raking it's nice job unfolding it there is going to make it a lot easier to check the eight little tires there the big ones at the back and grease the entire thing miriam is right now in the fields raking that grass hay she got in grease and she checked all the tires before she went out to the field finished servicing it at uh it's the afternoon now milking just started and naleen called me said the juno drove off the edge at the back of the feed alley it's we're gonna crashed to lift this thing back up there's a little concrete ledge so we can't drive it up we got the skids here though so that's what we're gonna use to do that see it's parked up against the wall here and there's just this ledge here at the end of the feed alley and that's why we can't just drive it so we're gonna have to use the bobcat when she's done scraping here lift it up put it over there you know i don't blame his juno at all it is hot out here today this guy's probably just sweating his butt off pushing all the feet up so i am now realizing i should have taken advantage when the bobcat was hooked up to this thing and taking it all the way to the front of the bar into its charging station because i lost its route so now i need to drive it all the way manually to the front of the car and this thing's not that it's not a formula one race car let's just put it that way now we have had troubles with this juno in the past i think the biggest reason why this happened is because we have a massive pile of feed right here and that kind of made the juno fear around and it's supposed to drive directly over top of the strip probably went beside it somehow and didn't detect this this signals that juno to make the right turn right before the edge here and then i just went off the edge and against the door for the rest this thing has been awesome um it's pretty much been going problem free for almost a year now which is really good i think it's pretty much four years old now i think so it's been good lately pretty sure it'll push me it's pretty good yeah it seems pretty strong all right so the baler is warmed up we're gonna head over to the field we got two bales of net wrap in the baler there's one in the chamber already and then we have one spare in the back so we should be good to go for that don't imagine we're gonna make more than 100 bales today well we made it up to the field we're just going to do the good old-fashioned hand test on the hay here see she's dry enough dig in there a little bit bring it out with her hands it looks and feels dry so the only thing we can do is make a bale and test the moisture on that bail start out nice and slow here make sure everything's working on the baler before we send it [Music] thirteen point three 9.7 so the moisture sampler says it's good which is awesome we're going to make some bales here another thing you can always do is just press on the side of the bale and if it feels like a rock like it's super heavy then it's obviously too moist but it doesn't feel too heavy you kind of feel it rocking back and forth a little bit so now you know also that it's dry enough it's not too wet and heavy we are out of net wrap [Music] that's a new roll she's threaded up in there should be good to go well guys if you remember in the last video we were cutting this stuff for two videos ago whenever that was we did the first two outside rounds the night before and then the day after we cut the rest of the field the outside rounds were dry and the other rounds they're just not dry enough yet and we don't want to make dry or wet bales the stuff in the middle of the field here has been on the ground for a little over 50 hours it is really hot and dry out here but it's not that hot and dry and it's still just a little bit too tough so we're gonna have to come back here later and try again otherwise we're just gonna bail it tomorrow that'll for sure be dry tomorrow back in the field about two and a half hours later and it looks like we're making bales there's definitely some showers popping around that looks like a nasty cloud right there you can see the bills are nice and green back in the field about two and a half hours later and it looks like we're making bales there's definitely some showers popping around that looks like a nasty cloud right there you can see the bills are nice and green [Music] once again the next day today you can see my sister miriam she is on the rake and she's raking this patch of grass uh this is the smaller patch the 30 acres right beside the yard later today hopefully we're gonna grab the small square baler and i'm gonna make a ton of small square bills here and then dad is going to use the picker and pick them all bring them to our hayshed right there and hopefully we can get this wrapped up today if not probably tomorrow but first before we get started on this field i gotta go and finish the probably 30 acres that are left from last night yet where i gotta round bale that 70 acres of grass so got a bit of bailing to do yet so i'm gonna head out to that field hopefully it's gonna be dry enough for me to bail the rest of it we were kind of struggling with moisture yesterday got a couple of bales made but hopefully we can finish that up today [Music] [Music] well we finished round baling that field went pretty quick there was a little over an hour of bailing we had left to do there miriam finished raking everything and now i stole the little new holland that she was driving we dropped the rake off and grabbed our small square baler you can see dad there in the bale picker he's following me straight out to the field he wants to get going we're gonna try and make some small squares now super excited for that yay so the moisture is looking good we made about five bales that was a failed bale but the rest are tied good so that's awesome they're a little bit short though and it's really important that they're exactly three feet long because otherwise the bail picker my dad is really going to struggle to pick them up because they won't stack properly that bail picker is made for three foot bales so we got to adjust something here on the small square baler it's all mechanical how this thing works it's not like a screen i can type in i just have to adjust this thing right here and that's how it kind of regulates the length of the bales so so that's the bill picker it's also an older machine but it still works pretty good we used to have a smaller wagon and that thing didn't work worth the crap then we bought this one and it's working a lot better that thing holds i think 160 maybe 163 bills something like that we can stack them in that little hay shed that we have back at the farm it is awesome to be done with these small squares it's not exactly my favorite job but again it's just time-consuming it's not actually that bad at all and once you're done it's awesome to have all these small squares for the calves in the barn so that's awesome so since we're done using this thing we're gonna clean it off got this cordless leaf blower i'm going to see how it works on equipment here turn it up [Music] we got 70 bales off of that 70 acre so a bale to the acre which is pretty good and right here we got the bail counter for small squares looks like we got 1091 bales so would have liked to get a couple more than a thousand small square bales of grass but that's all we got i don't know if that's gonna be enough to get to next year for the cavs but we definitely have some left over yet so we should be good i'm just gonna park these in their spots and uh yeah that is gonna be it for today's video guys if you enjoyed be sure to hit those like and subscribe buttons down below and i hope to see you guys in the next video thanks for watching
