Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I’ve gotten it on 2 run throughs.
But not another.
I don’t know what the difference was.
The one where it did not trigger was when I was using him heavily and making hero choices.
The two that didn’t, I hardly used him outside of areas with a lot of traps and locks.
My GUESS is if you find the dead boar without him and don’t bring his rep too far down from your “good guy” choices is he admits it openly.
But I’m just guessing based on my limited experience.
I think it might show up if you enter the underdark before the bite scene. I'm not entirely sure, as I haven't tried it yet.
The boar answer seems plausible to me.
In my current run I did 6 long rests before he tried to bite me and I never saw this scene but I did find the boar.
My last 2 runs he tried to bite me in my first long rest.
I did see a video of this conversation outside of camp so it doesn't seem to be tied to resting, just used it as a way to give a time estimate.
Comments section on youtube does not give the trigger mechanisms for this scene. I assume it's act 1, before or instead of the bite scene? I've progressed to the goblin camp while avoiding long rests and his approval is currently at 29 (medium) in my game and I haven't gotten this scene yet.
I have had this come up on all my play through. Problem is I never got his bite ability from this and my Pc still acts “surprised” when he comes to bite you at night. My last time I got this scene, went to sleep to wake up with him trying to bite me. He must’ve been hungry lol
I love how much the DUrge scene confessing they’re a Bhaal spawn to Astarion is basically the reverse of this one.
it triggers if you progress too far in the game without long resting enough. for example if after visiting the grove you head straight to goblin camp and immediately go to the underdark, astarion straight up confesses to you
