Baer Plays Kingsway (Ep. 2) - An Unexpected Boon

my life for like a month now Oh finally found the Wavell we got it Kings ways the number one operating system for daily tasks such as skeleton smashing and lewd organizing is that did you pull that you let that straight from the steam page that sounds like a straight from the steam page that's it's pretty pretty accurate to welcome one and all catch my breath pardon me your cheesed up the stairs by a monster I thought the Sun dick takes your life well you do too babe let's not forget about that okay we'll go ahead and get started up again this is not the first Kings race three no what we did actually was started eight up after the little bonus session of Crimson Court we did yesterday thirty four months thank you so much Cutler that was pretty rude of me to call my wife a monster I agree I agree I shouldn't do that let's be better behaved all right so let me go ahead and by way of explanation get folks up to speed here this is King's way I've actually started the music prior to the stream here but you actually do have to double click this little app in the King's way OS quote unquote to get the music going here's our bag as well it's pretty self-explanatory I think I think you guys will be able to figure it out fairly quickly on your own if you haven't seen it already from our previous attempts but it's it's an old-school point-and-click RPG sort of deal with a really neat in my opinion gimmick a little quirk that they throw at you so we'll try to find some combat here and instead of explaining we'll just show and that'll be a lot more simple there's my favorite way to throw away any chance I had it being productive in life nah man we're all building building and fostering a community that's product productivity personified an enchanted healing fountain unfortunately we don't really need this right now and really unfortunate for us too I took all the gold we had in that fountain last time and that was an unsuccessful voyage I was pretty hopeful for that last run too but yeah anyway this is this is the majority of the gameplay here the world map the world navigator is gonna be our means of exploration and we will attempt to do our damndest to get to the castle get to the king's castle activate the beacons and clear the plague that wreaks havoc across the land outlandish ow how you doing buddy still gonna name the new heroes after the subs yeah absolutely I just I started off with Baird's happy the warrior just at a simplicity stick simplicity sake fluff captain speaking of streaming new indie stuff Fadel dungeon rescue yeah you know what I did see that too actually believe it or not that's another game I was thinking about checking out maybe not on screen but I'll probably end up playing that one just for my own enjoyment just gave it a whirl okay I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna end up buying anything in here unless I want to maybe grab like a short sword that's probably not a terrible idea welcome green welcome to the pile buddy thank we'll be able to equip that and the oak staff might be an upgrade to uh requires a little bit more intellect being a warrior we are not very likely to acquire the intellect necessary to wield that staff unfortunately so I'd expect that we want to utilize that at all hey there how you doing a little bit more to it than just attacking over and over by the way there's that block mechanic that you just saw us use perfectly because I'm a god there we go another broken sword for my troubles thank you very much which is exactly the same as the one we have - no no change is made does this game mostly just for the nostalgia boner it's it satisfies that for sure and I regret using the word satisfied given the nomenclature you chose in your sentence but yeah it's it's got that little nostalgia factor and I just I I just generally enjoy playing it like I don't know really what it is about this it's got all those little quirks it's like the little chiptune soundtrack the aesthetic appeal to it for what it's worth it just it gets me man so I'm I'm allowing it to get me to snag me to sink its tendrils into me and allow what will happen to happen come across another forgotten dwelling and a whole bunch more rooms to explore the hall has nothing there's an ascended and the library probably don't need to heal again there we go nice okay got a first level up which means we can finally equip those boots finally I've been waiting for years geez just a massive love letter to fantasy nerds that - yeah alright so I don't think I want to work on it like let's have a look at our available skills so I don't think I've actually shown you guys the warrior skills so let's have a look at that real quick bolster your next attack does double damage which can easily get really really good battle cry temporarily stuns all enemies you can upgrade it to improve the length of the stun I'm not sure if there's anything else that you can change with this with upgrades but maybe we'll find out it's grim or poisons enemies for to when they attack you in scales fairly well but not all that great warm aura is nice I didn't end up using this quite a bit I think the last time I ended up with a warrior run I like this just for the weekend like pop vase once its upgraded at the beginning of a fight and then just upgrade fill up our health over the course of an entire battle and I think I might do this and maybe even take a little bit more vitality strength would be nice as well let's take two strengths so we can get that minimum damage up and then go ahead and take more moreover now have you fought any enemies that mess with your windows yet a little bit none that like Orwell okay there's a there's some enemies like the Phantom's for example I don't know if we ran into those yesterday but the Phantom's will like knock out the windows on your screen and stuff so yeah there are those kinds of enemies none of it's really all that difficult to deal with but maybe I just haven't run into the right ones yet look of burn I assumed I wouldn't have the stats for that okay that's nice though maybe we'll be able to get a magic spell going laying around we'll see looks like it's been unused for a while paper with strange symbols drawn on it the monolith research paper it's a children's drawing just got back from Japan what'd you miss what do you miss you didn't miss our crimson core campaign we'll be going back to the dungeon at some point I'm sure though huh few other games in the YouTube channel all kinds of fun stuff in Japan that sounds like fun tank strats yeah dude for sure it'll probably work out and I'm not gonna heal here like I mentioned I'm gonna go ahead and try to use that that new spell book of my goodness my goodness those could be some very very good early spells if I can get the in like necessary I assume what's the urn what I assume to be the intellect necessary to use those what variety classes are there is just the basic it's yeah it's pretty much the basics you got your warrior rogue mage and then you've got a beast kin class you've got the what's the other one but you got worthless if you want to call that a class we tried that last time that's you start with terrible statistics in one arm which is you know about as fun as it sounds okay this guy is gonna be a little tough luckily we didn't just get our level 2 upgrades that are making things a lot easier but he's still gonna do a lot of damage so I just went ahead and cast that warm aura twice so we can get some healing going but still yikes ok slight upgrade here take the 1 to 2 over 0 to 2 for sure and there's a 3 or 4 very nice robe is definitely better than our dirty shirt also just occurred to me we didn't grab the supplies bag for the orientation did wait no no I didn't I'm pretty sure I just sort of brushed over that once we start it up okay well don't need any of that garbage that's literally worth zero gold unfortunately okay go ahead and probably cast one more on most of the time I don't want to give up on any opportunities to heal myself up here all right worthless best class yeah for sure yeah there are hidden classes - right exactly companion craf so I haven't haven't gotten close I don't think too even unlocking everything yet who needs supplies anyway that's true that's true you got to go balls to the wall here so I think I'm gonna go ahead and try to upgrade my intellect if I can oh goodness how closely we doing an okay we are very close to a level up actually so if I just go all-in with the attack here I think we'll be good you and I never really had to worry too much about healing so let's start out with that again and then maybe get bolster soon will I will consider our options and yeah I got to do this not only to potentially utilize these new skill books but also to allow myself to the cast for more and more that is a mouthful of a sentence caste war moremore on the rural juror I'm a nail club we can sell that good stuff so there's monolith here as well as a quest location and see need I need a magical item in order to sacrifice at the model that's so I'm obviously not going there right now I think I'll go to the town to start off with and maybe be able to buy something new from them don't need to yell right now I might even be able to kill him before he gets me damn it damn it there we go yeah finished the crimson core campaign what we going back to a modded campaign in the in the dungeon soon though probably on Saturday in fact would be a reasonable expectation a couple of war axes in a rake 5 to 6 damage with the rake seriously how much better is that than a war axe it's about on par with it I didn't understand medieval combat I suppose rakes were where it was that is there a different kind of weapon called a rake or is that just what you use to organize leaf piles hmm all right yeah it's the place back forgot forgot again turn that in there we go there we go that's more like it get the out gonna leave burn actually I want to have heal on the on the battle skills though I really feel like that's necessary so I'm gonna take off escape for now I'm gonna regret hold on I want block - let's keep escape I probably don't need both warm aura and heal right that might be a little bit of overkill so what if I mean I wasn't expecting to get a heal spell so I guess I could just do that but warm aura is probably better now isn't it how is this compared to warm aura nine points of health if I upgraded the magic cost goes up as does this one I suppose so okay ah that's a tough call it's a tough call let's keep block for now we'll keep healing burn I might not net end up using burn all that much so maybe we could swap that off for warm aura as well but I'm gonna keep this just to see if it's gonna solve my problem for me okay so we're good to go this is a level three of a for item 1 level away from that alright I think we're good I think we're good let's sit over here let's sacrifice this quickly stopped by one of the other adventurers ignore the other adventurer the other adventurer tool pulls you aside and tells you to get to the back of the line or leave you think you're a big tough by themselves so probably not necessary see just what look how quickly our health recovers I think this is a pretty unbeatable strategy at the moment a short sword plus one plus one damage hail yeah do it five five guaranteed in fact not too bad lighting blind waiting like a true adventurer yet it's just like northernlion says the best part of amusement park is the lines that's what everybody's looking for okay so we have our map of the Kings way here in the storage courtesy of that last quest so let's check this out and see where our beacons are fairly convenient beeping placement this time around actually only gotta do is get to the very center of the map then get close to the king's castle then beyond and I imagine double back at that point so this is this is pretty good how valuable is time I played a few games and didn't really notice it as a concern as long as you're not doubling back too much you probably won't run into any issues with it but if you were to like waste time like I was just given the opportunity to do with that one place along with staying at too many Inns maybe going back once or twice pending it's a little bit too much time in caves you can easily get overwhelmed by the by the encroaching darkness so it is important to to try to be a little quick but usually it's not going to be a huge issue skeletons in your area the Church of the ascending has been raising the dead from their own graveyards to protect themselves from the many threats of the land in these trying days bring us some skulls intact and give them a proper burial we'll get a traveler's ring for that one did wonder if I could inspect these down here but I guess not hey rusty drag are you doing yeah you do have a time limit as well not a real time time limit thankfully appears to be injured I do have a healing spell for you there you go buddy I'll keep my potions for now tells me about a call well that was convenient all right cool welcome back soul welcome to the anymore ooh removes the players next attack gains +1 damage every time they are attacked by an enemy cold aura chills enemies from 1 when they attack you this might be this might be an actual chill effect which would be pretty worthwhile we also need to concern ourselves with the amount of slots we have available here in the slot bar hmm I do like retaliate quite a bit and we can make that scale pretty well [Music] let's do what about bolster though bolster for guaranteed 10 how can you have both warm and cold aura oh god now that you've said that I feel like I should do it let's just make the universe implode it's brilliant bolster Oh Buster does cost to magic though I'm getting a little a little greedy with my MP already maybe I should just do retaliate because that is a passive upgrade and I don't have to do much with it let's do that I like that then we can get upgrade that a couple of times it doesn't really scale very well sadly retaliate but maybe there'll be a bunch of enemies later on that hit me a super quick for like 1 or 2 damage and I'll just be able to stack up a bunch of retaliation and let's upgrade is there anything I'm looking at right now that I need to be ready for I do have the mighty ring that I can equip right now oh my god hell of a difference there nice another beast I sweep I think I'm gonna go with the intellect again and let's see if I can get six to six there we got nice another treasure chest we have two keys and fortunately not a rogue anymore so we can't just unlock everything immediately those are worse than our other boots that is obviously an upgrade over nothing there we go all right cool Kings way or Kings way oddly enough that was my first question to his Kings wave oh well the crit nice am ii shot that guy party nail club of wrath i could sacrifice this in another monolith which we got coming up actually it is worse than our short sword right yet is slightly less damage it has that vitality bonus but well i mean that is a pretty significant vitality bonus actually more critical damage - hmm that's a tough call actually i'd be going down 1 damage or no it's down - that's a lot of health though but without war more activated i feel ok not really worrying about our health all that much so we'll call this good every time bear goes mmm a tear falls down my face hmm everything is covered in dust the locked chest I heard a noise I thought I heard a noise anyway wanted mastery okay cool the short-sword will just sell that filling up our inventory space pretty quickly unfortunately I heard a noise indeed alright got to use the warm water every time I can as long as I've got like near maximum at our magic points because otherwise I'm just wasting it already I don't need to rest in bed right now look through the hall take the paper another monolith research paper just doesn't really know what to do with these do you do y'all make anything out of this besides a five-year-old being asked to draw something I don't know what this is I don't know if there's like a really deep hidden message here but it's lost on me that's good enough I don't know if you know you should defend whenever you're about to be oh yeah I just I'm lazy a lot of the time it's also common than I like right now for example could have tried to defend but that would have taken place right after his attack so sometimes I just end up having to just spam attack because that's the way that the progression of the bar ends up working out I could I could upgrade our agility though and hopefully improve our chances of attacking and defending simultaneously now let's go ahead and get into the war more ago and just to soak up the damage damn that is so fast you really don't even need to get a second one going actually maybe I shouldn't do that when I've only got like half of my uh oh damn I don't have any keys shoot which I would have stopped by a general store first I always forget after I played a couple of rogue runs to make our way up there eventually is there a point to the windows moving during battles other than being annoying well that is kind of like the the gimmick that's what makes it difficult is these early enemies as I was mentioning like they don't really do all that much to complicate matters but it gets a little bit more interesting later on he'll sell you the mysterious item last time I tried to fight one of these guys it really didn't go well for me however I do have a healing aura three potions and a potion of magic let's give it a shot he's got 68 hit points okay so he's pretty tough but I think by a healing aura might be enough we'll see when ease might burn this time as well hopefully that'll help us out I'm dealing about as much damage as he is I think we're gonna win I think we got it nice well that's a lot of experience two kings icon as well leather shoes are unfortunately not all that great throw those in there we got a deft war ax need 16 strength I might be able to use that next level though nice that's a great pickup okay let's do that in here we'll use that later let's go can you use the book of great heal right now maybe I think we need more intellect for that we probably need like 10 intellect or something I'd imagine okay good stuff will cast a healing or really quickly in fact maybe just maybe just go ahead it's a potion right now get cloak figures up to no good I don't know if I necessarily want to welcome the possibility of being overwhelmed right away I bet we can fight these guys as well let's rely on the warm aura to carry me through to victory great block okay these guys are pretty tough too this might be oh yeah this is gonna be a difficult one I might have to use my scroll of Matt or my potion of magic here I'm gonna use both of did a blind status effect for a minute yeah that'd be pretty cool too red boots probably just gonna end up getting sold we'll throw these up here I guess kind of splitting all my items oh and that's right we get to equip this now check it out nice big agility bonus actually Silla wow that didn't make a huge difference to our damage we're gonna be attacking a lot faster now courtesy of that +4 or agility +5 agility hell yeah alright we got a new quest as well I haven't even checked this one out yet might be interested in a unique product we make specifically for adventurers like yourself a foetid potion we need three living seeds which we're actually close to getting already oh that's pretty great I'm running Windows 69 yeah dog from my experience sometimes it's better to wait for him to attack and block than it is to charge your attack right away yeah I don't doubt it all right well we have our monolith fodder here in the death nail club of frenzy as well let's just go ahead and throw these two bags on the desktop so I'm not getting confused why I'm in here we'll put the map out here as well and these guys I don't need them gotta keep them organized though there we go good when did this come out really recently I think it was like right at the end of July something like that let's see this one has an in in a general store so we could sell a bunch of here maybe even buy some keys we're gonna guild right there I'm kind of hoping that I can find our last living seed before I end up approaching the guild again this guy's all God yikes oh damn dude that hurt I'm dead a bit we need to get to uhh we need to get back to one of those dungeons like I said and spend some time in there leveling up and getting stronger there's our key might need an invisibility potion to get back to where I need to be but hopefully the the healing aura will be enough to to satisfy our needs for now let's sell these leather shoes and the short sword and that'll be good I guess can't check that out sadly I don't think we have any quest to turn in we need other four skulls or three living seeds so not quite there yet limp sauce sort of frenzy bandits teeth those are used for quests usually my do I have some money let's go ahead and buy a couple more potions will take their invisibility potion as well there we go alright using everything we got but we're still in the running here and I'll get that potion of magic as well just in case just in case might come in handy and back we go we are gonna head up this way jibber don't stop casting warm auras man urgent help requested Oh got it nice gloves one my name is Galu and I'm hoping you can help me I was attacked by some bandits recently and they took a very special ring from me it's been in my family for several cataclysms and it's pretty dramatic hate to lose it all now of all times if you can find it can you drop it off at a guild outpost make sure you get a great reward on the right then pale or bapure ax t minus 5 strength plus 6 damage somebody smarter than me do the math on that one do we actually make a sacrifice using this look at that poison resist - that's pretty good that's a really weird or maybe you've got a there man here we go yeah these are slightly tougher monsters and I probably should have tried to block that attack to here but oh well bad item oh you wanna have the stats for the axe that's true yes that's a pretty big sacrifice to make I guess FairPoint call not worth alright alright wanderer greets you wonder was what you'd like to discuss let's talk rumors got a great treasure wrong direction this quest marker is moving on us as well so that's unfortunate mattock oldest appears let's keep that warm or up block this first attack they usually toss out curses some kind of expecting moment this could definitely be a good option mighty Beckler of stone is much much better than that previous shield we had and the magic root makes us immune to poison although luckily that's not really an issue anymore let's go ahead and buy that that's pretty damn good helmet the demon gives you the Ottomans scurries away as as demons tend to do yes we do boss let's go take him on he's probably not that tough compared to our current level we're too shot and everything and that dude just dealt one damage to me so yeah I'm not too worried about this at all plus two and a like plus five move speed were pretty well set on rings at the moment I think let's keep going everything I have is magical besides the armor but yeah otherwise yeah we're doing pretty good feels good man it's feeling pretty strong as a +3 strength was plus 7% lifesteal replacing gallu shield oh man that's a tough call getting rid of my magical shield of course Oh 11 to 16 damage though but we sacrifice defense - that's a lot of defense we get from that item what's the difference here 11 to 16 man that makes a big difference that's a tough decision I'll use this for the time being and see how strong gives you agility prop up your agility and yell it until you have enough to equip the thing that gives your agility to sustain enough for the cheese makes sense makes sense a key for that get it out of here with that plus three strengths these aren't that good either unfortunately yeah monolith fodder again alright there's our chest down here I can actually grab that real quick probably let's try well great stuff you can sell the Leech sword I think - probably not a bad idea buying a scroll of heel oh maybe oh we're getting armor for the guild yeah I forgot about that oh wait no I don't I haven't completed that quest yet so we'll get armor from the guild eventually but not right now we got to go get to this quest location yeah that's a hell of an upgrade though for sure such agility so it's a little risky to to spend them on offensive skills still I think marked yet another treasure there's our quest location I might want to go right toward that actually there was skeleton Knight yeah like I'm pretty satisfied with our attack damage at the moment especially with the dual wielding of course in play now I don't think we really necessarily need an offensive skill we'll just use head dodge the attack I think we got it dodged another one we is good to go is there a third stage that I wouldn't put it past the game to do that this seems like it might be a bit of a there might be some finality to this fellow is he dead I think he's dead that is that he's dead the body of the defeated demon king disintegrates into ash in life the ash swirls around you sticking to your skin as the light absorbs into your chest you feel new power within yourself that is beyond human you can stay to rule this underworld or return to the overworld to use your new power to destroy the sky Eater health points plus a thousand oh Wow defense plus a thousand oh my god I'm immortal Wow the sky eater appears he's here we're fighting this guy he's summoning shadows and I have a thousand hit points I'm just gonna attack the out of him I don't know if we actually need to do anything but that we crit the sky eater that feels pretty awesome he's dealing 102's this shadow is attacking for zero damage that's fantastic level 33 shadows are hitting me for nothing ruler of over and under as above so good oh I love this I look at these shadows so helpless bidding me for zero literally doing nothing and these oh my god the crit when the crits happened they are leeching like 45 health that's totally ridiculous I don't know if I can die I am just demolishing the sky either this level 99 alien another crit for healing this is insane I didn't even know this was a thing this is some next-level this Kriya the crit focus is doing doing work right now I love how much damage 14 it's a satisfying heavy from the taffy thrown go ahead and heal a few times we do have the magic points for it I might as well make sure I don't die to this thing just go ahead and heal up a few times this guy and heal a few times with all that magic why not why not there we go that's better that's better that's better oh I got these crits the crits there's so crazy we got him we defeated the sky eater
