hi it's lauren from go shooting and today's video is for all the newcomers out there thought i would give you a quick summary of the basic terminology that you may be confused about let's start with the two most basic types of shotguns that can be left or right-handed here's a left-handed shotgun and here's a right-handed one the stock will bend away from your face towards your shoulder this is a typical sporting shotgun with an adjustable comb and this is a trap gun they are largely defined by the height of their stalks the height of the stalk is measured like this it's called drop this is drop at the comb drop at the face and drop at the heel a sporting stock will generally be lower with more angle from the front to the back this is a stock that is too flat so it means less strong [Music] this one is too high so it needs more drop [Music] and this one is just right [Music] this is a Montecarlo stock very popular with trapshooters it has 25 mils of monte carlo the length of the stock is measured like this it is called length of pole length of the heel length at the mid length of the toe this is a stock that's too long [Music] and this one is too short and again this one is just right the next thing to look for is cast it's the direction the stock bends towards your shoulder for right-handed guns it's cold cast off for my left handed on here it's cold cast on it is measured at the comb at the face at the heel and at the toe now remember I'm left-handed so here's it gonna move too much cast a one that doesn't have enough cops [Music] and again here we have one that is just right you often hear of the term pitch pitch basically is the angle that the butt of the gun sits in your shoulder pitch can roughly be measured like this push the action snug up against the wall then measure the distance from the 28 inch mark on your barrel so this would be no pitch this would be normal and this is a lot some guns have poems walls and adjustable triggers to help fit the size of your hand around three pounds is a good trigger pull weight now for your different recoil pad options we have flat curved slightly curved or convex barrels can be short like this 28 inch skeet gun or this 30 inch drop gun or 32 inch sporter ribs can be flat stepped or high and adjustable if you don't like your current rib you can add one on chokes can be fixed or adjustable they can come in a variety of sizes to change your shot pattern from this to this make sure your gun is balanced here this is stock heavy this is barrel heavy and this one is just right once you have your shotgun and the stocks sorted head down to the pattern board to see where it shoots and then you will be able to analyze its point of aim and point of impact like this [Music] for more details on the topics that we've covered today please check out our youtube channel with all of our shooting technique video we hope this little video helps and as always I look forward to seeing you at a go shooting range real soon the shooting ranges of fields drop down in your shooting bag you haven't got a stage jump you can't shoot what you can't see chocolates zipper right on the side some people prefer ear fights instead of wet weather gear is essential in order food having target set incorrectly to the courage to be plural for the PlayStation this would cool be in a shooting body the Knights are alive while spinning it in 96 when you say 20 of live that Iranian really sure about you [Music] [Applause] you [Music]
