hi I'm Laurie mark from go shooting what we're waiting for this nasty coronavirus to go away I think it's a great time to get some dry-mounting practice in today I'd like to go through some simple drills that will help your shooting technique when you get back out to the range the first drill is to simply mount the shotgun at a spot marked on the mirror most importantly make sure your guns empty doing this exercise is going to help with the consistency in your gun mount and ensure that your eyes are parallel each time repetition of course will help build a muscle memory if you're a truck shooter and you have the gun pre mounted in your shoulder this next drill will really help if you're lucky enough to have a wall map like this and a room with about three meters of space this can be a very good training aid the dozen or so clay targets have been set on this map represent the realistic heights and angles of a truck range practicing on this will help smooth out your movement before you go shooting again [Music] [Music] [Music] if you don't have a wall chart that's fine stand about three meters from the walls then put a piece of tape 65 centimetres wide 1.2 meters off of the ground to replicate the trap house then you can put some markers on the old to replicate the different targets angles and Heights this next drill will help any sporting shooter hunter or anyone else that doesn't pre mount the gun to their shoulder and then both taping a small flashlight to the side of your barrel place an object similar to this target on the wall then slightly dark in the room from your pre-shot position make sure the light is shining on the target as you see your sight picture pay particular attention to how your foreign hand drives towards the target when you mount [Music] [Music] if you can do this consistently it will mean that you're practicing a good technique to adequately get you on the targets flight line we can elaborate on this drill more by putting tape on the wall of a room to simulate the flight line of the target we've instead of using a flashlight we'll use a laser light [Music] once again start to live in your pre mountain position at one end of the tape and as you mount the gun to your shoulder follow the line of the tape if you are doing this correctly the laser should never stray too far from the tape this is a great training aid for any international ski sporting or field shooter we hope this little bit of advice helps now please stay safe and stay home and as always we look forward to seeing you at a go shooting range real soon you
