August 2020 River Trip

hey everybody robert breaker here and today's my day to go out on the blackwater river maybe you could see in the back there my kayak we got a buddy and he's taking his canoe and we're gonna go try to tame the mighty blackwater river you might remember that's the river that i almost died on when i was 10 almost drowned made a video about that a couple months ago but um i'm hoping to take this gopro and well bring you along with me on my trip as we uh take the kayak and go down the the blackwater river so looking forward to it we'll see how this turns out all right okay this is where my adventure begins i got my uh kayak up here now maybe you can see it in the background the kayaks there and we're going down this really steep path here easy to fall not the best boat launch in the world but this is where we're going to launch looks like an old bridge there an old uh train bridge it looks like it's been raining a lot and the water's up it's really clear beautiful and you can see trees down and everything people like to come when it's been raining a lot and this whole week's been a lot of rain so the water rises because you see all the stumps and everything in the way out there so this is the beginning of our about 10 mile journey down the blackwater river and um looking forward to recording what i do record and letting you go along with us so here goes nothing first off though have to go park the truck to where we get out and i've got a friend getting an uber to come back so waiting on that and then we'll launch and then we'll go so here we go okay here's the start of the trip here we go how to record and show this at the same time but this is it we're just launched we're in the water yeah we're heading that way huh yeah i'm going to be recording trying to anyway yeah say hi i didn't bring it to put in my mouth so i don't know how i'm going to hold it but i might just tuck it in the hat or something we'll see here we go it's moving pretty fast this is black water or cold water we're on cold water creek okay so the names are backwards you told me black water is really colder and cold water is really blacker or something like that but this looks really clear today oh tadpoles in the water lots of tadpoles all right turn it off i'm about to hit the side degrees so out there is the spring can we go to the spring i know okay [Music] [Music] all right all right out on the river you never know what you're going to find and this is a heavy prop it's some sort of a boat it says 18k yep buddy paddle right over it so that could pay for the trip today you never know kind of nice to find put it up here for some weight so it's looking good such a pretty view yeah pretty far away but right over there is a little waterfall don't know if you can hear a little waterfall here i'm going sideways right now down the lazy river too much fun it's just so quiet that's what's so amazing about this and just nobody nothing and the water is just so fast my friend caught a turtle you caught a turtle cool so now we have a new pet turtle [Music] turtle i hope he doesn't snap me he's got talons that are pretty strong he hits that water you'd be surprised how strong they are how long his neck is look at that tail too turtle reach halfway across the back of the shell that's your new pet all right we're heading that way my friend said he swam here as a kid and then some guy broke his neck here when you were in high school huh that's awful one of those trees into two feet of water and broke his neck poor kid he's probably still quadriplegic right now yeah and the current is what's so amazing to me this current's really pushing i don't know if you can tell the water's moving but hey let's look under that looks like water all right time to go okay hit the top what road is that this is where people get out so this is where most people get out that rent canoes right there and this is where we're gonna keep going so it's nice to have your own boat so you don't have to get out where everyone else does so we're going to go through some places where there might be some log jams howdy yeah think we can pass lower down someone said there's some log jams okay well we'll keep on going you guys take care oh an alligator on the stump down there that's cool maybe we'll see that saw him twice wow we'll be looking right here well i don't know if you can see that but uh just went by on a jet ski and they're kicking up all these waves yeah last thing you expect to see is a couple people on a jet ski that was fun so so well we haven't seen any alligators yet but if this is if ever there was the place for them to be it would be here in the swamp and uh well welcome to the swamp we came in out this way there's our kayaks coming up this way and uh i don't know why my friend wants to come in here i'm afraid that he might try to kill me hope not yeah we'll go see what's back here we just might see an alligator wouldn't that be cool certainly looks like a place where alligators might live certainly a lot of mosquitoes seen any gators yet you know it's only like 180 bucks to get our gator license so we could go hunter gator that would be cool he just said i see some gator slides where they've been going in and out we might see one yet slick right there where's the slides tell me if there's any footprints here's where a gator would have been pull it out that way here would have slid in here no footprints though huh interesting i suddenly feel like i need to talk like this oh my goodness yeah all right if we live through this i'll i'll film some more man it's pretty up in here look down here and then it goes way up other past him down here some kind of footprint from some sort of a mammal probably a hog so we got hogs we got deer we got gators and of course we got a ton of mosquitoes look something's eating back here that must be hogs starting to round up in here got a lot of these cedar knobs down there boy i'm gonna be taking my fly nine when i get home get rid of all the uh possibility of malaria nothing like having a guy with a machete too how far back you want to go in here okay well pray for me i wouldn't come back here on my own please lord get us out of here safely and now he's in the water i feel like the beginning of indiana jones when they're hiking through the jungle i hope those guys don't come out and start shooting at us with their little arrows and blow guns is this check out that tree this tree fell over and then started growing other trees out of it after it fell that's kind of cool oh back there looks like a lot of hogs have been back up in there hog trails florida hog hunting's year-round which is kind of cool so one of these days you're going to have to hunt some hogs out in a place like this this is nice look at this this is some sort of thing yep all that's disturbed by hogs right there all right let's see what happens there's some more hogs rooting around right in there i wish i knew how to zoom in with this thing but there's a big old banana spider right there i don't know if this will show up what was that noise i heard something sounded like a gator yeah so we're here over there was that a baby when you heard yeah made that silly noise it kind of me sounds like a oh look there's one right there don't go any further see if it'll show up right here in the camera there it is showing up right there real well that's called a banana spider and i hate those things okay lions and tigers and bears and mosquitoes and it's like real mush well we heard the sounds of the gator and they came from this look at this water this stagnant nasty disgusting he must be in there somewhere so time to head back too bad we didn't get to see a gator today what of course the day's not quite overnight there's an interesting little hole right there in between that stump i wonder something lives in there i did not see an alligator but we certainly heard one that noise that they make we heard that a couple of times so somewhere back up in here it's an alligator my buddy said come up here at night with a light and flash it you'll see their little old beady eyes so they're back here somewhere all right now it's time to get out of here and you picked up a lure too just find what you need out here we could live out here we should we ought to camp out here for like a whole week and see if we can make it you think they'd be mad on youtube if i did that and didn't bring a sermon every week a little bit mad okay all right i'll come home and preach to y'all all right okay we paddled through there and now we're coming through here this is where all the gators are hmm you've yeah we've been going over a lot of bubbles so they're definitely here somewhere but where this is way off the beaten path and we probably came 300 yards through a really narrow path into this stagnant water and they're probably in here somewhere where yeah we couldn't get in here with a motorboat so this would be the place to come if we had our gator hunting license yeah that'd be cool where are you gator we're going out and i'll film it coming in there was a lot of bubbles you see a lot of bubbles that might be the alligator underwater so oh now i have to turn it off in order to get unstuck it's okay big long log jam right there so you can't go to the right up here is the uh place we're going to the left but that's the big old log drain yeah this happens time to time storms and things like that and logs are in the way so we're gonna be going to the left up here in the blackwater river okay so it's not that left although that looks pretty inviting but that's kind of upriver it's just left right over there and uh yeah the currents like turning me in circles and all over the place there's houses there's a house up that way somebody's out on their bass boat today y'all doing so yeah pretty cool huh so this is blackwater river and look how black the water is all throughout cold water we can see the bottom pretty well but now that we're in blackwater it just is black there's all these places up in here where you can go and the water is just stirred up everywhere and it really moves but the water is so much darker so much blacker so interesting this is fun well i just saw a turtle stick its head up right there this is like a completely different river it's darker it's blacker it just seems like it's rushing faster the water's going through here faster and it's going so fast i can't keep the boat straight i'm going down the river sideways here huh but it's beautiful and i don't know if you can hear the rushing water but there's a lot of rushing water and a lot of people unfortunately they die every year in this river because it's not clear it's so dirty and who knows what's underneath there and this current going you get stuck up underneath there and a log or something and they won't find you for days can't see under there so it's a very dangerous river blackwater river but it sure is beautiful sure is pretty man this is fun just floating down the river okay we're getting in wider uh river so we got more people here they come here come the waves [Music] oh we're getting several waves yeah wow beautiful out here pretty part of the river house is up there and logan had okay we're almost out we're getting out somewhere over there a lot of houses along the side here pretty homes so that was a good 10 miles or so today i guess i think that's where we're getting out so here goes nothing okay here's the way out wow [Music] somewhere in here is my truck parked so we can get out of here this is cool best part of the trip so why didn't i bring my fishing pole huh okay we made it maybe if we can get up here steep bank oh there's my truck so we got to pull this thing out so that was the trip hope you all enjoyed it now it's time to go home and crash i think i burned my legs that's okay nice little boat now it's time to get home you need help getting out all right bye everybody hope you had a good time all right one final thing we forgot the turtle it's time to take the turtle and give him a new home so i'll follow you we'll take the turtle out and give him his new home this way both won't get them and he'll be able to grow here's the lake what oh i don't know the name of it it's just paradise island lake on paradise island all right ready yeah he's peeing all over go little buddy go you're free and he's not moving he looked back at us get in the water there guy let me put him in the water see what he does turn around and snap you bye digs right in bubbles okay that's what we're naming him that's his nickname bubbles let me see him out there in a few years he's five foot wide all right trip officially ended now it's time to go to what whataburger or someplace get a 44 ounce cup of water yup not soda water all right bye you
