The Way of Balaam

and welcome back I'm Robert breaker missionary vist and Spanish and english- speaking people and every week I put a new sermon up on YouTube and on Theo and you can find that at the cloud church.org and the Bible says where two or more are gathered in my midst they are I in the midst of them and uh here we are me speaking and preaching the word of God and you watching so that's two or more so I guess we can call ourselves a church in that sense the cloud Church uh we're going through the cloud coming to you trying to present the truth of the Bible and today's sermon I believe is so important for the day and and age in which we live this is something that's uh spoken of in the Old Testament as well as the new but I believe it's not just something that that happened years ago I believe it's something that's still continuing to this day so I'm going to try to the best that I can present this to you the way of balum what is the way of balum well we're going to go through a lot of verses today a lot of scriptures in fact I'm going to read probably several chapters from the Bible and I want to present to you this this way of balum because the way of balum is evil as we'll see there's three times in the New Testament that it talks about balam we look at each one of those verses they want to look at this this I guess you could call him a prophet but in a way he was a deceitful Wicked prophet he was like what the Bible calls today a hireling someone who was in the ministry just for money and they didn't care about fruit or didn't care about good things all he cared about was uh him getting rich and so this is going to be a a lesson that's going to be instructive to us but also this is something that to today is really sad because we see this Same Spirit of balum in the world today and sadly many U politicians have adopted this way the way of balum and are teaching the way of balum a way that God hates he calls it an error and by so doing they're destroying the country you see balum did something in the Old Testament that destroyed the people of Israel and brought down that nation and it was only by the grace of God that they were able to come back from it well today we see this same push and we see this same what the Bible calls doctrine of balum being pushed upon society today often times by evil evil wicked men and this teaching is bringing down the the downfall of society and unless something changes it will bring the downfall of America so without further Ado let me get into this message I've got three verses that I want to start with as we look at the way of bam and I always like to draw the Bible up here and um explain you know that that we're in the New Testament today in the church age ends in the Rapture and in the Old Testament that you have the law well this is the law back here and this is Grace well the time period in which we're speaking about takes place about right here but as the children of Israel went out in the Exodus they went out in this time period and they found their enemies and they began to conquer and God gave them Liberty and God helped them to conquer Israel I mean the people around Israel uh the amalekites and all these different people the jebusites and what we're dealing with today if I'm not mistaken are the moabites and what's interesting is today we have people that are directly tied to these same people the amalekites and the moabites they come through that lineage and all throughout the world they're becoming refugees and they're traveling all over Europe and even coming to America and it's the same group that the children of Israel had problems with back then and they're coming in today and you know what it's almost like the way of balum back then is coming to pass here in our day and age hopefully you'll see what I'm talking about as we uh go through this this is going to be unlike any sermon that I've preached before because I'm going to just give you the story from the Bible about it I'm going to read it to you don't have very many points and so hopefully it will it will be um not boring but um and not entertaining I'm not trying to entertain but hopefully it will be educational hopefully it'll be edifying and you'll learn about the way of balum and how we can combat it because the way of balum is destructive and we're seeing that destruction in the day and age in which we live so first of all I want to go to Second Peter chapter 2 and verse 15 and in 2 Peter 2:15 we see the first mention of balum in the New Testament balum is mentioned only three times in the new Testament quite a few times in the Old Testament but in the New Testament we see balum and it says here in 2 Peter 2:15 which have forsaken the right way well right there we realize that the way of balam is the wrong way I mean if the right way is is God's way and then God says they've chosen the way of BM then the way of balum is the wrong way I'll put an explanation point here let's don't follow the way of balum it's not the right way according to the Bible again second Peter 2:15 says which have forsaken the right way and are gone astray following the way of balum the son of bosur who loved the wages of unrighteousness so according to the Bible God chastises a certain group of people saying they forsook the right way they went astray and they followed the way of balum the way of balum is the wrong way it's to to go astray so to go the way of balum as the world is headed today is to go astray from the ways of God so that's the first time and it's called the way of balum and what is it well basically it's to love money more than God so he loved wages but I'll just I'll just put he loved money more than God supposed to leave a prophet supposedly someone that God spoke to to give a message to other he wasn't interested in the message he wasn't interested in serving God he just wanted to do it for this right here Jude chapter 1 and verse 11 the second time that we read about this guy named balum in the New Testament and Jude verse 11 says woe unto them for they have gone in the way of Cain and ran greedily after the error of balum so the way of balum is to go in error it's to go astray we read earlier and it's wrong it's the wrong way so it's not sounding real good this this way of balum is it again verse 11 wo to them for they have gone in the way of Cain and ran greedily after the error of balum for reward so the error of balum was what the error was for I'll just put this well I'll put reward reward you see what old bam wanted more than God was money that's all he cared about and because that's all he cared about he did something dirty and low down and sorry and it affected to others and it led to the death of many many people it's so sad how someone can do something and it's so evil and so wicked that it leads to the death of other people that's a sad thing but that's what the way of balum did because he cared only about himself he cared not if others died and his actions led to the death of others so once again verse 11 woe unto them for they have gone in the way of Cain ran greedily after the heor of balam for a w and perished in the gains saying of Corey someone perished because of the way of balum balam's way LED to Hell someone died because of it now let's go to Revelation 2 and verse 14 and I told you earlier and you'll see this as we tie it all together how that the way of balum is becoming the political way the political agenda of today is the way of balum what does that mean that mean it's going to ultimately lead to the death of millions maybe even billions of people and that's what's so sad that's why we have the Bible that's why we preach the Bible to warn people hey don't go in the way of balum come to the way of God so people don't have have to die because of your sin Revelation 2:1 14 the third time that the Bible in the New Testament me mentions balum it says but I have a few things against thee because thou Hast there them that hold the doctrine of balum so Doctrine so there's a doctrine of balum what is the doctrine of balum well simply put the doctrine of balum is me first and only money for me and to hell with everybody else that's really the way of bam it's only thinking about yourself and getting rich and not worrying about anyone else sounds like your modern day politicians they don't care about the best of the country they don't care about the poor they don't care about anybody all they care about is getting rich and taking for themselves that's the way of bam and it says there who taught the doctrine of balum who taught baac who's the king as we'll see to cast a stumbling block before for the children of Israel to eat things sacrificed unto idols and to commit fornication so this way of balum has idol worship in it and fornication so there's all these different things tied up in the way of balum so as we go through this message we're going to see exactly what it's talking about so balam was a soothsayer or a prophet if you will in the old test go back to um Joshua and let me read about it he's mentioned you know not that many times but a lot more than three times in the Old Testament and it's kind of one of those things that in order to find the way way of bam you have to read everything that says about him and kind of read between the lines just a little bit in order to understand what it is that he did and that's what we're going to do today we're going to figure out what did he do why is he always looked at as evil why does God say he's astray and he's wrong why does God say that he did an error why did God say that his Doctrine was vile and wicked and ungodly why does God put this guy balum in a bad light what is this way that he did that is so wrong for us today Joshua 13 Verse 22 it says balam also the son of beor the soothsayer that's like a prophet did the children of Israel slay with a sword among them that were slain by him so Israel killed this guy balam because of his way the way of balum was so awful and so wicked that it caused the children of Israel to to sin and because of that it brought a curse of God upon the children of Israel and when it did Israel said we don't want this curse so they rose up and they killed those that went into the way of balum and they ultimately killed balum because his way ended up cursing the children of God rather than allowing them to be blessed I tell you what I'd love to have America today is is America to be blessed rather than cursed but the way that America is headed today as they follow the way of ba balum is to destruction and to judgment rather than to the blessings of God because they're going astray they're going down the wrong path they're choosing to follow Satan rather than God let me read another verse here um I believe I had one more verse here yeah let me read m m Micah 6 and verse 5 I'll look it up here in the computer that's faster in Micah 6 and verse 5 what old uh balum did wasn't that bad in the eyes of some people it wasn't like he he committed fornication himself it's not like he killed anybody himself with his own hand it's not like he stole money from anybody and robbed the bank you see it wasn't what he did so much what he celed and what he said from the mouth the Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue and sometimes something said with the mouth can cause more damage than anything else and that's what happened was something that came from his mouth caused much damage in Micah 6 verse 5 it says oh my people remember now what baac king of Moab consulted and what balam the son of beor answered him from sham into gilgal that you may know the righteousness of the Lord hopefully through this study we'll know what right is the righteousness of God cuz we're seeing right now what the wrong way is and this story should teach us the righteousness of the Lord the right way but what does it say here it says baac king of Moab consulted balum was a soothsayer he was a prophet and he was asked by this man baac to curse the people of Israel and three times he was going to do it but the spirit of the Lord entered him and they blessed Israel and so it ends up up that this guy after he tried so hard to curse them and he couldn't the king says well I'm not going to give you any money CU I told you to do a certain thing and you did the opposite we're going to read this story because of that he lost this and as we find out he decided you know what I'm going to do I'm going to counsel this King to do a certain thing in order for him to pay me in order for God to curse Israel so it was something that he did he went out of his authority as a prophet of speaking for the Lord and he said something in the flesh and he counseled this King to do a certain thing which led to many deaths in Israel and even led to baac or excuse me balum being killed because he counseled someone to do something outside of the word of God well to see this story and it's a little bit of a long story it takes up three chapters in the Old Testament to see this story let's go back to the Old Testament Numbers chapter 22 and like I said I don't want this to be boring but there's a reason that you have a story like this in the Old Testament and there's a reason that it takes up three chapters it's mentioned three times in the New Testament it's mentioned all throughout the Old Testament God wants people to understand the way of balum because it's something he wants them to remember and not repeat the old saying is only thing people never learned from history is people never learned from history and if they don't learn from history guess what they're doomed to repeat it and as I see the way of bam in his day and what the Bible says happened and I look at America today I see this country following the way of balam and repeating history and it's so sad to me to know what the ultimate end will be judgment upon America because they choose the wrong way and they choose to go astray so you probably say what is it already what is the way of balum all right let's read it it's a lot of reading but it's worth it and if you have your Bible I ask you to read along with me because this is an important story so the children of Israel had just left Egypt and they're in the Exodus and they're they're going through the desert I guess they've gone through the 40 day years in the in the wilderness and now they're coming to to a place in order to uh fight and as they come to this place the people around the area are scared to death because Israel has had great victories and they're killing people and taking over their land a lot of people say well then Israel is wrong no God told them to do that and the Reason God said so is because the people in that land were so wicked and so vile they were committing such heinous sins such as beastiality that God says I want those people wiped out that's his judgment on their sin that God allowed Israel to come in and take over now chapter 22:1 and the children of Israel set forward and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho and baac the son of zore zior Saw all that Israel had done to the amorites so let me make sure I write up here the cast of characters so you'll understand baac is the king of Moab balum was the prophet Bible calls him a soothsayer so we'll just use that word that means a prophet so this guy BAC is the king of Moab and old Barack oh excuse me baac was the bad guy the bad King who wanted to save himself from the people of God in fact he wanted the people of God dead so that he would live and God's people would die so old Barack I mean bik did everything within his power to try to kill and and deceive and and and and just get rid of the people of God so he went to balum and said balum do something for me so this is the story of King Barack I mean Barack I mean AAC king of Mo Mo this is a story about baac the king of Moab you see what I'm doing I'm trying to apply it to today with a different name that sounds a lot like this one but anyway and so here we go again verse two numbers 222 and baac the son of zippor saw all that Israel had done to the amorites so Israel had wiped out the amorites and it says and Moab was soore afraid of the people because they were many well almost sounds like America today the politicians that take over they're afraid of the people of God who is that today the Christians oh they're afraid of Christians so they want to do everything they can to push against Christians maybe you'll see the correlation where I'm going with this verse four Moab said unto the Elders of Midian now shall this company lick up all that are round about us as the ox lith up the grass of the field and baac the son of zipor was King of the moabites at that time so he was the king of Moab Moab is a country over there today where there's a lot of Muslims in that area I me all that area is a lot of Muslims and they all are descendants of ishmail which by the way the Arabs are descendants of ishmail a lot of Muslims their descendancy is from ishmail interesting verse five he sent Messengers therefore un baam who did baac sent Messengers unto balum the son of be beor to bethor which is by the river of the land of the children of this people to call him saying behold there is a people come out of Egypt behold they cover the face of the Earth and they abide over against me so the people of God Israel were against the evil King and it says there and this is verse six this is baac telling balam I want you to do this for me verse six come now therefore I pray thee curse me this people for they are too Mighty for me per Adventure I shall Prevail that we might Smite them that I may drive them out of the land for I what that he whom thou blessed is blessed and he whom thou curses is cursed so baac baac Barack baac says to balam go curse those people so that God will curse them and they won't able to defeat us and that we might be stronger that we might win that we might grow and they may diminish that was the intent of the wicked King from The ishel Descendant the descendant of Ishmael and so it says verse 7 the Elders of Moab and the Elders of Midian departed with the rewards of Divination in their hand and they came unto balum and spake unto him the words of baac so baac sent out people with rewards with money and they said to this Prophet balum if you curse Israel for us we will give you lots of money so here you have the state Moab coming to a religious leader and saying we'll pay you good money if you'll preach what we say if you'll make us feel good if you tell us what we want to hear and if you'll curse the people of God rather than preach what God tells you H sound like today today with all the female preachers sounds kind of like today where many many people today are hirelings that claim to be pastors and that are preaching what they're told rather than preaching what the Bible says interesting verse eight and he said unto them Lodge here this night and I will bring you word again as the Lord shall speak unto me in the princes of Moab Abode with balam so balum says whatever God tells me tonight I'll tell you tomorrow nine and God came unto bam and said what what men are these with thee now God knew God knew who those men were he knew who they were before they even showed up but he wanted balum to tell them to see if balam would tell the truth and balam said unto God baac the son of zapor King of Moab has sent unto me saying behold there is a people come out of Egypt which cover the face of the Earth come now curse me them per Adventure I shall be able to overcome them and drive them out so he tells God exactly what they said baac wanted this preacher to become his preacher and to say what would have him happy if if you will itching ears he had itching ears he wanted balam to get on his side and preach what he wanted to hear and you know what had bam done that he would have got a lot of money but at first B was a good preacher he did what he was told by God and told them the truth but as we see the story transgress we see old balum going hm you know it really would be nice to have all those rewards of divination you know it really would be nice to have money you know I don't have to compromise the message of God too much and then I could get paid for it that's part of the error of balam so verse 12 and God said unto bam Thou shalt not go with them that Thou shalt not curse the people for they are blessed and B bam rose up in the morning and said un the princes of baac get you into your land for the Lord refuseth to give me leave to go with you well you see God gave him a three-point message in verse 12 God says you can't go you can't curse them and he said they are blessed and rather than balam come and tell the princes God told me three points to tell you he only said one he says God told me I can't go with you no no bam that's not what God said that's only part of the message God also said they're already blessed and God already said that uh that he could not curse them so notice from the beginning this guy balam is a compromiser he doesn't say everything that he knows he should say because he's afraid it would offend so he only says one part of the message that God gave now imagine how God must get angry when someone doesn't tell the whole message verse 14 and the princes of Moab rose up and they went into BAC and said Bal balam refused to come with us yeah but why didn't they why didn't they give the rest of the message also he said they're blessed and also he said he can't curse them well they couldn't give that because bam didn't say that to them even though God told him to say that to them and then it says verse 15 and baac sent yet again princes more and more honorable than they well had bam given the entire message message then baac wouldn't have sent princes back again but because part of the message was withheld oh baac said well let's go try again let's go try again maybe he said he can't go just because he didn't feel like going let's try again see if we can't get this guy on our side until they try it again and it says here in verse 16 and they came to balam and said to him thus sayith baac the son of zapor let nothing I pray thee hinder thee from coming unto me for for I will promote thee unto very great honor and will do whatsoever thou sath unto me come therefore I pray thee curse me this people so two things offered offered he was offered that right there and he was offered promotion he would he could have been I guess the preacher that was the head preacher of all of Moab in a nice Monastery or a Abbey and he could have been the one that everybody looked at like the Billy Graham of his day so to speak what did he do verse uh 18 and balb answered and said unto the Servants of baac if baac would give me his house full of silver and gold I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God to do less or more oh isn't he Pious he didn't even give the whole message he only gave one of free points but yet they come back we're going to promote you we're going to give you money oh I just can't do that I've got to do what God tolds me to do when he didn't even tell them everything that God told him interesting continuing there there's a lot to get through so I've got to hurry verse 19 now therefore I pray you T ye also here this night that I may know what the Lord will say unto me more 20 and God came unto bam at night and said unto him if the men come to called thee rise up and go with them but yet the word which I say unto thee that shalt thou do so God speaks to him again and says look last time you didn't say what I told you to say so whatever I say unto you you do it well did he did he and Bam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass and went with the princes unto Moab what's missing there notice that nowhere does it say that bam said well this time God told me this he does he never tells them what God told him again he compromises the message because he's scared and secretly within his heart he wants these two things so he gets up in the morning says you know I'm just going to go I won't even say God talked to me or told me anything I'm just going to go with them and see how it goes verse 21 and Bam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass and went with the princess of Moab 22 and God's anger was kindled because he went now God told him you can go but only if you tell them what I say and you do what I tell you to do and Moab said no I'm just going to go I don't care what you say so God was angry and the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him now he was riding upon his ass and his two servants were there now we hear the story of Bam's ass maybe you've heard of this story maybe you haven't there was a website for years bams ass.com or.org I don't know what it was it was interesting website a lot of good information on there I don't even know if it still exists but then this is the story of balam's ass an interesting story in the Bible and it says now he was riding upon his ass and his two servants were with him and the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand and the ass turned aside out of the way and went into the field and balum smoke the ass to turn her into the way now we get a glimpse into the heart of balam he was a mean-spirited angry man and it says verse 24 but the angel of the Lord stood in the path of The Vineyards a wall being on this side and a wall on that side and when the ass saw the angel of the Lord she thrust herself unto the wall and crushed balam's foot against the wall and he smote her again and the angel of the Lord went far further and stood in a narrow place where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left when the ass saw the angel of the Lord she fell down under balum and balam's anger was kindled and he smoked the ass with the staff and the the Lord opened the mouth of the ass and said unto balum what have I done to thee that thou has smitten me these three times you see three-point message God gave balum but he didn't give it many times in the Bible God does something like that he does something three times because out in the future he or even in the past he reminds them of you know three times this happened for example old Peter remember Peter three times he denied Jesus Christ end of the book of John Jesus shows up and three times he says do you love me Peter do you love me Peter Peter do you love me three times to remind him of those three times so it sounds like God is trying to remind bam hey I told you to say three things to those people and you only said one and God opened the mouth of the ass so that the ass could speak and the funny thing here is is Nowhere In this passage is Bam goes what you're speaking to me how does an animal speak no he just answers that means his mind was on one thing getting in front of the king to see what kind of money he could get out of them well verse 29 and Bam said unto the ask because thou Hast mocked me I would there were a sword in mine hand for now I would kill thee not only is he angry there's murder in his heart he has he has gone away from God in the message that God gave him and he turned into a reprobate that wants to kill and Slaughter and hit and do evil things verse 30 and the ass said unto balam am not I thine ass upon which thou Hast ridden ever since I was thine un this day was I ever want to do unto thee do so unto thee and he said nay which is kind of funny you know animals uh especially horses say nay well he said nay as in no verse 31 then the Lord opened the eyes of balam and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand and he bowed down his head and he fell flat on his face oh how Pious he was and the angel of the Lord said unto him wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times behold I went out to withstand thee because thy way is perverse before me we're looking at the way of balum well God says his way is perverse it's the wrong way and it's a perverse way why because as we'll see when we find out what the way of balum is it's a it's a way of fornication how perverse is that God hates fornication and um verse 33 and the ass saw me and turned from me these three times unless she had turned from me surely now also I had slain thee and saved her alive and Bam said unto the angel of the Lord I have sined for I knew not that thou stest in the way against me now therefore if itle if it displeased Thee I will get me back again wrong answer he still wants to go he should have said I'm sorry I'm going back right now but he says can I can I get go still go to the court to see the king 35 the angel of the Lord said un bam go go with the men but only the word that I shall speak unto thee that thou shalt speak so balam went with the princes of baac the way of balum by now you should realize is the way of balum is balum giving counsel to this King not speaking what God Said but what he says what is it that he said we're going to get to that it's him preaching something that's not in the Bible and saying hey you ought to do this and this and this knowing that what he's preaching is against the word of God well 36 and when baac heard that balum was come he went out to meet him into the city of Moab which is in the border of Arnon which is in the utmost coast and baac said unto balam did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee wherefore camest thou not unto me am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor promotion you see the um the uh what's the word temptation that he's trying to tempt this preacher tempting him if you'll do what I tell you I can promote you and give you money we should flee Temptations we shouldn't even allow it to get to that point but old balum just got a little bit closer to the Temptation a little bit closer a little bit closer until he ultim sinned and gave in to the Temptation verse 38 and Bam said unto baac lo I am come unto thee have I now any power at all to say anything the word that God putteth in my mouth that shall I speak and Bam went with baac and they came unto kirjath whoo and baac offered oxen and sheep and sent to balum and to the princes that were with him and it came to pass on the tomorrow that baac took balum and brought him up to the high places of Baal that then he might see the utmost part of the people now notice this this guy baac worshiped ba that's why his name was baac from ba ba is the devil sometimes they shorten it to ball or Bale so balum was supposed to be um of God he was supposed to be of Jehovah the great God but yet he's shacking up with a false religion and his name is balum even his name has the name Baal in it so he started out as a good Prophet following the true God but he allowed himself to get suckered in to the false god he should not even have gone why would he even gone to a King that worshiped a different god well God told him okay I'm going to let you go but only if you say what I say you're to say now we go to chapter 23 it says and BB said unto baac build me here seven altars and prepare me here seven oxen and seven Rams you see this guy already made sacrifice to his false god so old balam says no let's make sacrifice to the true God so he's still trying to separate himself but he finally is worn down by BAC and this temptation of riches and promotion finally overtake him and we get to the end of the sermon we see that he sinned and at the way of balum is the way of error because he gave in to the temptation of the money and the promotion by the king of the false religion 23 and Bam said unto baac build me here seven altars and prepare me here seven oxen and seven Rams and baac did as balam had spoken and baac and balum offered on every altar a bulock and a ram and balam said unto b baac stand by thy burnt offering and I will go pre-venture the Lord will come to meet me and whatsoever he showeth me I will tell thee and he went to an high place and God met balam and he said unto him I have prepared seven altars and I have offered upon every altar a bulock and a ram and the Lord put a word now right off the bat that's kind of a a lie because he didn't do it himself this guy helped imagine how God must feel rather than his man offering sacrifice he goes to the enemy which is what the moabites were of God and he says will you help me make a sacrifice to God see the joining together of a false religion with a True Religion not on the right foot this guy he doesn't sound like a good guy he should have said yell go over there while I make sacrifice to God but no he was lazy he didn't want to do all the work himself so he had them help him do the sacrifice and he says verse 5 and the Lord put a word in Bam's mouth and said return unto Bao and thus thou sh shalt thou speak and he returned unto him and lo he stood by his burnt sacrifice he and all the princes of Moab and he took up his Parable and said baac the king of Moab have brought me from Aram out of the mountains of the East saying come curse me Jacob and come defy Israel how shall I curse whom God ha not cursed or how shall I defy whom the Lord hath not ified and from the top of the Rocks I see him and from the hills I Behold Him Lo the people shall dwell alone and shall not be reckoned among the Nations who can count the dust of Jacob and the number of the fourth part of Israel let me die the death of a righteous and let my last end be like his and baac said unto balam what hast thou done unto me I took thee to curse mine enemies behold thou has blessed them all together and he answered and said must I not take heed to speak that which the Lord hath put in my mouth and baac said unto him come I pray thee with me into another place from when thou mayest see them Thou shalt see but the other most part of them and shalt not see them all and curse me them from then and he brought him unto the field of Zam to the top of pisca and built seven altars and offered a bulock and a ram on every offer and he said unto baac stand here by thy burnt offering will I meet the Lord Yonder and the Lord met bam and put a word in his mouth and said go again unto baac and say thus and he come to him behold he stood by his burnt offering and the princes of Moab with him and BAC said unto him what hath the Lord spoken and he took up his Parable and said rise up baac and hear hearken unto me thou Son of zapor God is a man not a man that he should lie neither the son of man that he should repent hath he said
