welcome back and Robert breaker and today we're starting our verse-by-verse Bible study through first Peter finally we're getting to it I had hoped to start this at the first of the year 2020 but I had so many things come up I just wasn't able to get started and here we are Wow January is almost over and now we're finally getting into this book and I'm looking forward to it there's a lot in first Peter and I can't wait to get into it and rightly divided and study it verse by verse I know a lot of you have been saying boy I can't wait to get in that brother breaker so when are you coming out with it when are you starting well here we go first Peter we're gonna go verse by verse and hopefully this will be a blessing to you now we have gone through already the 14 epistles of Paul after that we did Jude and then we did Acts and so a lot of people are saying well what are you going to do next well we did James also last time and I believe there'll be quite a contrast between James at first Peter and I really want to show you that but also people asked what are you planning on doing mix well I'm hoping on doing first second and third John next then after that I need to do the book of John maybe the book of Matthew and then we'll do the book of Revelation a lot of people say brother breaker do revelation now I would like to but there's so much in the book of Revelation that's gonna be a long study and a very important study to go through and I want to get to it eventually but I just I need to study it a lot more and I want to get these this is the more basic doctrine and I want you to get a hold of it so we're gonna do that today and I'm gonna just try to get as much as I can of the New Testament taught and someday we might do mark and look but mark and Luke a lot of what's in there is already in Matthew and John but maybe we'll start on the Old Testament if the Lord tarries but I sure hope he comes back it wouldn't it wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit if the Lord came back before we finished 1st and 2nd Peter but if not well though that's ok so first Peter has five chapters 105 verses 2485 words now most Bible scholars say it was written about 60 AD and of course it was written by Peter we have the epistles of Paul and the other apostles James John other ones and then this is the Peter Peter wrote 1st and 2nd Peter now some people wonder is there a third Peter I don't know when we get to 2nd Peter I'll show you how it almost looks like that's two epistles put into one and how it looks like you could have had three all total but I don't know that thank god there's only two and then it gave us 66 books in the Bible and there's a reason God uses numbers so we have first a second Peter in the Bible and the theme of 1st Peter is suffering and a lot of this book is about how you suffer for Jesus and how it's important to suffer for Jesus now if you remember our verse-by-verse Bible study through the book of James the question came up who was James writing to well the book of James is clearly written to Jews so go to the book of James and look at verse 1 James 1:1 and James of course is after the book of Hebrews so here is a mint James well James chapter 1 and verse 1 clearly tells us who the book of James is written to James chapter 1 and you see who the book of James is written to James 1:1 James a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad greeting so clearly clearly clearly the book of James is a book that is written to Jews and the book of James as we went through and studied I showed you and I told you that the book of James was clearly written early in the book of Acts and it was the James that was killed and the doctrine had not been settled yet and so a lot of things that James was saying you look at that you go boy that does not sound like the Apostle Paul that sounds like early church doctrine and that's what it was and they were expecting at any time about tribulation to come back and then Jesus would return because they were expecting go back to dealing with Israel so that book in the book of James oh but we canna spiritually apply a lot of good stuff in that book to us doctrinally the book of James applies more to Jews in the tribulation now because of that there are people that say so that means the book of first Peter and second Peter is a tribulation above now we've got a problem with that because look at first verse the first verse of first Peter 1st Peter chapter 1 and verse 1 it does not say Peter an apostle of Jesus Christ to the twelve tribes scattered abroad it says Peter an apostle Jesus Christ to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus Galatia Cappadocia Asia and Bithynia this is territory of the Gentiles but someone was scattered abroad now some say well those were the Jews that were scattered abroad but why would he call Jews strangers when he called them brethren now maybe they're strangers in the tribulation whenever the tribulation takes place and the Jews are in their temple worship being according the book of Revelation then they're supposed to flee into the wilderness and so they're fleeing and trying to get away from the Antichrist maybe at that time they're strangers from Israel because they've had to flee but I don't know so let me write up here again when I've written before and I want you to see this all by the way I do have a commentary on the books of first and second Peter you can find this on my website and I years ago did a commentary on 1st and 2nd Peter and written form and you can read that if you want but if you go through the Bible and you look at the order of the books of the Bible now I've done this before the order of the books of the Bible are more or less in pre-tribulation order so you have Matthew Mark Luke and John Matthew Mark Luke and John are still in the Old Testament until Jesus actually dies so most of what you read in Matthew Mark Luke and John you're reading about Jesus earthly ministry and you're reading about things that he did before he died so it's still Old Testament but some of those books continue and then say ok and then Jesus rose again from the dead so then there's your new test so some of those books have some new Testament in it but most of the time what you're reading in Matthew Mark Luke and John is the Ministry of Christ before the church age well the next book is the book of Acts and the book of Acts we have already studied acts is a transitional book and it's all about the Apostles and one in particular named Peter and how old Peter is usually the first one to stand up and speak and it's all about Peter well then he goes to the James that that's the Lord's brother and he it appears as the head of the church but then you have another guy named Paul and in the Bible we find out that God revealed things to Paul that he didn't reveal to the other apostles and so God chose the Apostle Paul and used Paul and if you look at the books in the Bible one of the next books in the Bible of the books of Romans through Philemon now that's 13 books we know Paul wrote 14 books so the next book is the book of Hebrews and I've showed you how that book of Hebrews really applies to the tribulation now we could take some of it from the early church because he's talking about who Jesus is and what Jesus did he clearly shows Christ crucified in the book of Hebrews Jesus as the author of eternal salvation how through the blood sacrifice the high priest Jesus but a lot of Hebrews has a future application well after the book of Hebrews is the book of James and like I said as we read that book well that clearly looks like it applies mostly to Jews in the tribulation but then comes the book of 1st and 2nd Peter and you look at that and you go ah because 1st and 2nd Peter might the 1st and 2nd Peter it applies to the church but it's very Jewish in its writing so I've always taught and I've always believed that 1st and 2nd peter has a dual application it has an application that we can apply much of 1st and 2nd Peter to the church age but it also has an application to the tribulation to the Jews and there's a lot of Jewish stuff in it Peter was a Jew and his ministry he began with Jews he went out he won Gentiles to the Lord but then after that we don't read anywhere in the Bible where he went to more Gentiles it seems like he's stuck with the Jews and he was very Jewish and loved the Jews so I see a future application of 1st and 2nd Peter gonna be out in the tribulation now I mentioned that because there are people out there and many have labeled them hyper dispensationalist now they don't go by that term if you meet a high participation it still never say hello I'm hyper dispensationalist says it's a term that many have applied to them because they overly divide the word of truth and I'm going to talk about that here in a minute and some of the things they teach and some of the things they do but many hyper dispensationalists say the book of 1st and 2nd Peter is only to juice in the tribulation and is not for us today I do not believe that I want to make that very clear there are many things in 1st Peter that do apply to us today and you got to get a hold of that because Peter and Paul they got together one time and Paul shared some things with Peter and you clearly see in this book the influence of Paul and you did not see that in the book of James so I want you to get a hold of that I believe it was probably written 60 ad I don't know it could have been written a little sooner but I believe that Peter is writing but Peters mind said is I'm a Jew and I want to go to Jews and he didn't only go to juice he did win some Gentiles many of your hyper dispensationalist say Paul only went to Gentiles and Peter only went to Jews that's not true in Acts chapter 10 and 11 Peter is preaching the Gentiles and saw so Gentiles get saved although he preached mostly to Jews Paul everywhere he would go and we saw this in the book of Acts he went to the temple first he went into the Jewish temple and tried to win them to the Lord and then when they rejected then he went to the Gentiles so Paul is not just the Gentiles he went to juice first now toward the end of the book of Acts he says from his fourth I will only go to the Gentiles and we see that so you gotta watch out for those that are called hyper dispensationalist now you have these other books called first second and third John and for a second third John there's some things in those books that do apply to the church but also see some things in first thing third John applying the tribulation and also playing to the Millennium so I say first second third John has a triple application we can take some of first second third John and try to apply it to to today but there's some things in it that can apply to the Trib and also to the Millennial Kingdom then you have the book of Jude which is kind of an interesting little book and we looked at that we saw that joobs probably written over and it was around the time of probably acts 15 when they were dealing with these people from Galatians that were trying to get them back under the law and a lot of things that Jude says Peter says and we also find some of those things in James as well interesting and then you have the book of Revelation now the book of Revelation starts out with the seven churches and then it talks about the tribulation and that it ends up talking about the Millennium and the new heaven in the new earth so when we look at the Bible the King James translators put the books of the Bible in a certain order and I think they did it under the influence of the Holy Spirit I think God did that and the way God did it we kind of get an overview of the books in the Bible that hey they're kind of a pre-tribulational but because of that these hyper dispensationalists say and that's why Peter only applies to the tribulation I'm going to show you why Peter applies to today as well but I'm also going to show you there's some places in the book of Peter there you go now that sounds more like Jewish for a future to the Jews so again double application in the book of Peter but I believe that first Peter is a book that we should read today I've met some hyper dispensationalist in my life talked to him and some of them have told me nope Peter wasn't saved Peters not a part of the body of Christ and so first Peter is not written for us today and I look at that and I go you're wrong I don't believe that you're right I believe first Peter and second Peter have a lot of doctrine for us today and when it lines up with Paul that's our doctrine now if it does it then you can clearly say well that must be for them out of the tribulation so I want to get a hold of that now hyper it's a tional list we'll say that the book of Peter is only written for Jews in the tribulation they say Peter is the apostle to the Jews and Paul is the apostle to the Gentiles well yeah Romans 1113 Paul says I am the apostle to the Gentiles but where they're wrong is Peter did not just go to Jews he went to Gentiles in chapter 10 and 11 see some people will say and I've read books by people for the 1800s and they said Peter only went to Jews a poll only went to Gentiles and I scratch my head and go dude have you read the Bible Peter went to the Jews that's what the early book of Acts is about but he was the first one to win Gentiles to the Lord in Acts chapter 10 and he tells all about it in Acts chapter 11 so you can't say Peter is only the Jews because he did at one time go to Gentiles and you can't say Paul only preached the Gentiles he never preached the Jews that doesn't make sense because everywhere Paul went if you read the book of Acts he's going to the synagogue he's trying to reach his people the Jews explain to them who Jesus was get them to understand and believe that and then he was going to the Gentiles after so you cannot oversimplify the Bible like some people do and you can't say Peter only to Jesus Paul only to Gentiles it doesn't work but you can say that their ministry was more to Paul's ministry according to the Bible is he's the apostle to the Gentiles so his ministry was he was called of God to take the message more to Gentiles than to Jews and Peter was the opposite Peter was two more go to Jews than Gentiles but that doesn't mean Peter was only to Jews and Paul was only the Gentiles you can't say only like that and yet there are people that do and a lot of these people that do they say so first and second Peter is only to Jews not to us today that does not work so you can go too far with dividing now I believe 2nd Timothy 2:15 which says we study to show thyself approved unto God work beneath not to be ashamed rightly dividing we're supposed to rightly divide but we don't overly divide or we don't wrongly divide and a lot of your hyper dispensationalist they over divide and they go to an extreme as they divide the Bible and they get messed up when they say Peter only to Jews Paul only to Gentiles so first the second Peter is only to Jews so you should read that book today no we read that book today and we discern that book today and we rightly to buy divide the book of first Peter and there's a lot of stuff and first Peter that'll help you as a Christian especially if you're suffering the theme of first Peter is suffering when you're suffering for Jesus for believing in who Jesus is trusting in what he did for you and you believe in Jesus and the world persecutes you or other people that claim to be Christians persecute you that's a good book to read because it tells us how to deal with suffering for Jesus so we need to briefly look at Peter and Paul quickly let's go to Acts chapter 10 in tune Acts chapter 10 here's where hold up Peter after he's been sent to juice and the first part of Acts is all about him preaching the juice about who Jesus was the Messiah in Acts chapter 10 God says hey got these guys that are gonna show up and you go tell them about Jesus and he did and they were Gentiles it and so I acceptor 10 verse 42 and he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the judge of the quick and dead to have him to him give all the prophets witness that through his name whosoever believeth in his name should receive remission of sins who is he speaking to he's speaking to Cornelius and his band of Gentiles and who is speaking here Peter now look at verse 44 while Peter yet spake these words the Holy Ghost fell on them which heard the word and so they got the Holy Spirit so what you see here is Peter he did go to Jews but also in acts in chapter 10 and 11 he went to Gentiles so if you hear body preaching somewhere and and they say a Peter is only to Jews and Paul is only to Gentiles listen to that person to go wait a minute that might be a hyper dispensationalist I'm going to show you some other things that they teach that they're off on and if you find a hit hyper dispensationalist although usually they're very nice people and usually they preach the right gospel the gospel of Paul which is first Corinthians 15 one through four and they preach salvation by faith in the blood of Christ which is great I call them my brother in Christ and I love them but although they might have the gospel right they don't rightly divide the church age and they get some of these things messed up and I want to get you right I want you to believe correctly I want to show you what the Bible says so you don't fall into heresy and heresy is of course false doctrine so if you're not rightly dividing the word of truth with being you're in false doctrine I don't want people in false doctrine I wanted to believe what the Bible says okay now Paul comes along and God reveals some thanks to Paul and so if you remember Paul and what he preached in Acts chapter thirteen what was it what was the message God revealed to Paul well Acts chapter 13 I believe it's verse 38 and 39 be it known unto you therefore minun brother in it through this man has preached unto you the forgiveness of sins and by him all that believe are justify so here's the word justify so Paul's message is all about that blood because what are we justified by by the blood so justified by grace through faith move its belt through so it's all about grace saved by grace through faith and we see in the Bible I'm going to show you the verses here in a minute but Peter and Paul eventually got together and I clearly see in the Bible Paul presenting to Peter this message and saying hey Peter guess what salvation is not by works not by the law not by water baptism when we're saved it's by God's grace through our faith in the blood faith in what faith in the blood it's the message of redemption redeemed now it's going to be important because I want to show you that here in a minute in the writing of Peter so redeemed by the blood well you go to chapter 15 of the book of Acts and up shows Peter we've done our Bible study on Acts you'll know what I'm talking about there arose a question so let's go to acts 15 and the question was is that the law that saves or is it faith alone and salvation by grace through faith and Peter steps up and Peter says this now look at what Peter says in verse 7 and when there had been much disputing Peter rose up instead of them men and brethren you know how that a good while ago God made choice among us that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel and belief and God which note the hearts better than witnessed giving them the Holy Ghost even as he did unto us and put no difference between us and then purifying their hearts by faith now therefore why tempt you God to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear now verse 11 this is Peter speaking sounds like Paul but Peter says but we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved even as they so Peter became a great preacher somebody's hyper dispensationalist they cope sums grace preachers and they say the message of grace was only given to Paul and Peter never preached it well I don't know why they didn't read their Bible because you clearly see Paul coming to the early apostles and saying hey this is the message this is the revelation that God gave to me and the early apostles dealt with it in Acts chapter 15 and they came to the same conclusion that Peter did and they said you know what it is Grace that saves it's not works so Peter and Paul they get on the same page with this message of salvation by faith in the blood now why is that important well I want to get back to this here in a second but go with me to 1st Peter chapter 1 I heard from his very mouth one of these grace preachers one of these hyperness masae Shoeless and he told me he said the book of 1st and 2nd Peter is not for us today none of the doctrine in that is church age doctrine Peter was only two Jews and so that doctrine of 1st and 2nd Peter is future tribulation doctrine only and not for today he said Peter and Paul didn't preach the same message and I scratched my head and said I agree to disagree because first Peter chapter 1 verse 18 and 19 says otherwise 1st Peter chapter 1 verse 18 says for as much as you know that you were not redeemed Oh so Peter's gonna tell us how we get redeemed no for as much as it you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your father's but with the precious blood of Christ verse 19 as of a lamb without blemish and without spot what is Peter saying he's saying redemption is through the blood atonement of Christ hey that's Paul's message that's the message God revealed to Paul that Paul was going around and telling everyone that the message is how Christ died for our sins how he died without shedding blood and on remission of sins it's the blood it's the blood it's the blood of Jesus Christ and it's the blood that saved through faith in the blood and it was God's grace that he was willing to sacrifice himself and shed his blood for us well that sounds like Peter would have got that from Paul now look at 1st Peter chapter 1 and verse 2 elect according to to the foreknowledge of God the Father through sanctification of spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ Peter talks about the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus where would that have come from well if you remember we studied the book of Hebrews Paul tells us about the sprinkling of the blood of Christ and how Christ entered into the Tabernacle not made with hands and offered up his own blood and sprinkled it on the mercy seat in heaven I just did a video about that not too long ago talking about the tabernacle actually did two videos on the tabernacle and you need to see both of those because in the second one I talked about the tabernacle in heaven so the revelation of the gospel the blood-stained gospel the gospel of how Christ died for our sins was buried rose again the full of the blood atonement salvation by grace through faith in the blood Romans 3:25 through faith in his blood that was given to Paul and here we read we don't even go one chapter and hit the first Peter and Peter is saying the same message redeemed by the blood where did he get that from don't you dare tell me that that's only for Jews on the tribulation no that's the message for us today yes and the tribulation Jews need to hear about Jesus Christ and his shed blood that's important but this is the message for today so that's why I cannot in good conscience become a hyper dispensationalist I cannot do it because I see Paul's message being revealed and I see Peter accepting it and say yes I believe in Grace in chapter 15 and in his epistle saying hey you redeemed by the blood that's Paul's message so Peter eventually accepted the message that was revealed to Paul now that's important now I do need to explain this let's go to Galatians chapter 2 because there was a little bit of an element of Oh how's the best way to say it the best way I can think is to say that there was a time when Peter and Paul were at odds with one another and they didn't get along if you go to Galatians chapter 2 look at verse 7 Paul tells us about the time that he met Peter and when Paul met T Peter he told him all about salvation for us today in the church age Galatians chapter 2 verse 7 in English 2 7 we read but contrariwise when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me and the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter now gospel means good news so the good news of the uncircumcision was committed unto me as the good news of the circumcision was unto Peter for he that wrought effectually in Peter to the Apostleship of the circumcision circumcision as Jews says the same was mighty in me toward the Gentile so Peter more to Jews Paul mort's of Gentiles but you cannot say only to Jews and only to Gentiles so you got to make sure that you say it correctly and don't wrongly divide because Peter did not only preach his entire ministry to juice there was a time when he preached to Gentiles in chapter 10 and then he accepted Paul's message now Paul's the apostle to the Gentiles use its Gentiles Paul's the apostle to the Gentiles so he was more to Gentiles than to Jews but Paul he also preached to Jews and it was until the end of the book of Acts that he says from henceforth I will only go to the Gentiles so do not allow yourself to be deceived into following this false teaching that Peter only to Jews Paul only to Gentiles that is not Bible the right way to say it is Peter was more to juice in his ministry because those were the people that he went more to we don't read anywhere else in the Bible where after he went to these Gentiles that that Peter said you know I'm gonna go win more Gentiles to lorded he never did that in fact he said yeah they got saved and he walks away and he just spent the rest of his life with his Jewish people but over here Paul wanted both saved Jew and Gentile so Paul went to both so let's continue here in verse 9 and when James Cephas and John I'm in Galatians chapter 2 who seemed to be pillars perceived the grace that was given unto me that given to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship that that we should go unto the heathen and they unto the circumcision so it was decided that Peter near the Apostles they would focus their ministry more on going to Jews while Paul and Barnabas would focus their ministry more on trying to reach Gentiles and that's what Paul did in the book of Acts he's traveling all over the Gentile world preaching but what did he do he would always go to the synagogue first and whatever city went to to try to win the Jews and then he would go to the Gentiles now look at verse 11 but when Peter was come to Antioch I withstood him the face because he was to be blamed Oh Peter what did you do wrong Paul is gonna chew out Peter Paul's gonna bawl him out verse 12 for before that certain came from James and eat with the Gentiles but when they were done he would drew and separated himself fearing them which were of the circumcision and the other Jews disassembled likewise with him and so much that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation but when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel I said unto Peter before them all if thou being a jew lettest after the manner of the Gentiles and not as the Jews what why compel us all the Gentiles to live as do the Jews so here we see the reason that Peter spent most of his time with the Jews he he was a Jew D he just didn't want to mix with the Gentiles but he wanted to accept the message of Paul that were under liberty that were under grace we're not under the law anymore that were not redeemed by the works of the law but by faith and by grace and by the blood of Christ so you see and that's that's why I made such a big point here you cannot say Peter only to Jews and Paul only the Gentiles that will not work and that is not sound Bible doctrine Peter more to juice yes he had his day when he saw some Gentile saved but appear it appears to me that he wanted to be more with the Jews and so most of his preaching in his ministry was mostly to Jews but you can't say only and that he never preached the Gentiles he did it's right there in the book of Acts and with Paul he was more to Gentiles but you can't say Paul only preached the Gentiles and never to Jews it's right there in the book of Acts he'd go to the synagogue first and tell the Jews and then he'd go to the Gentiles so be careful be very careful of these people who say that their Bible believers and they rightly divide but then they say things like Oh Peter was only to Jews and Paul was only to Gentiles that's that's a misstatement that's not rightly dividing that's an oversimplification and you need to explain no at one time there was a time when Peter did preach the Gentiles and Paul made it a point in his ministry to get to his men Jews as he could saved you've been reading the Bible he said if it was possible I'd go to hell for the Jews because he cared about its own people you read that in Romans so I wanted to throw that out there and make sure you understand so hyper dispensationalists they're easy to find many of them say Peter was only to Jews and Paul was only to Gentiles not always the case now when did Paul and Peter meet well this is the passage we just read here in Galatians chapter 2 but also in Galatians chapter one go to vation chapter one I want you to see when Peter and Paul actually met and there was only about a two-week period that they spent time together and talked and during that time Paul must have presented this gospel the blood-stained gospel of how Christ died to Peter because his gospel Paul's gospel is you're justified by grace through faith faith in the blood you're redeemed are justified by the blood of Christ and you go to first Peter and you can't miss it verse 18 and 19 Peter says hey guess what you're redeemed by the blood of Jesus so Galatians chapter 1 and here we have Paul speaking verse 15 relations 1:15 but when it pleased God who separated me from my mother's womb and called me by His grace to reveal his son in me that I might preach him among the heathen immediately i conferred not with flesh and blood neither i went up to jerusalem of them which were apostles before me but I went into Arabia and returned again unto Damascus then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter and a boat with him 15 day so two weeks in a day but other of the apostles saw an unsaved James the Lord's brother so well during that time this is when we read in chapter 2 that he says hey Peter you're doing wrong and he was stood into the face so there was a time when Peter and Paul got together and according to the scriptures they got on the same page and Peter accepted that preaching of Paul it cannot be not it denied it is in the Bible but hyper dispensationalist don't want you to believe that many of your high participants ation let's say that the early apostles these Jew they're not part of the body of Christ and they say these early Apostles the Jews they preached a different gospel well we looked at that the book of Acts what did they preach they preach the who gospel they preached hey Jews you need to know who Jesus is you need to know he's the Messiah and I think I've done a great job explaining the difference between the who and the what because when you go through Paul you find out the thing that God revealed to Paul the thing that Paul preached that was a little different is it's not just who Jesus is that saves you it's the fact of what Jesus did is what saves you it's that blood atonement and so the early Jews they were preaching water baptism at the beginning and repentance but under Paul it's not about the water it's about the blood and it's all about faith it's all about grace so Paul was preaching grace so you clearly do see in the book of Acts a transition a change from the early apostles preaching only to Jews at first hey you got to be baptized in water and believe who Jesus is - then the nation of Israel rejected their Messiah so God says okay Paul go out and tell them that it's the blood that saves and you're not justified by the works of the law Galatians 2:16 you're justified by faith it's by grace through faith that we're safe and you're redeemed by my blood it's what I did on the cross and if you'll trust what I did then I'll save you so you got to get a hold of that you got to understand that now with that said Peter did understand some of the things that Paul taught but in 2nd Peter Peter confesses something so go to 2nd Peter chapter 3 so 15 days is not a long time for two guys to get together that were the pillars of the early church and talk so Paul explained the gospel to Peter but he was unable to explain a lot of other things so that's why Peter says this in 2nd Peter 2nd Peter chapter 3 and verse 15 minute before I read this let me say this there are some people today that free that Peter is the one we're supposed to follow and that Paul is meaningless that Paul is nobody they actually I've heard him on YouTube they say Paul was a great deceiver and he took over the church and he began to preach his own message and not God's and don't follow Paul and they're actually holding AMA nations out there that claim to be Christian that say we follow Peter we don't follow Paul that is wrong you need to rightly divide you need understand Paul's in the Bible for a reason now right here what I'm about to read is Peter endorsing Paul but also Peter confessing but there's a lot of other things Paul preaches that I don't really quite understand but what I do understand well he's our beloved brother and we accept and we preach now let me show you that 2nd Peter chapter 3 verse 15 in account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you what is that wisdom given on the handle that's the revelation there's seven mysteries revealed on to Paul the revelation of God God revealed many things to Paul that's why we have Paul in the Bible that's why we need Paul and we have those because God revealed those to him for us today verse 16 Peter continues and also in all his epistles speaking in them of these things in which are some things hard to be understood what do you think he was talking about the mystery what's a mystery it's something that's hard to understand he says which are hard to be understood which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest as they do also the other scriptures unto their own destruction so this proves to us that the Pauline epistles are Scripture proves to us that Peter would have accepted the writings of Paul and he's endorsing and yet he confesses but I don't understand everything what was one of the things that he probably didn't understand well the body of Christ and we'll get into that here in a minute the body of Christ that revelation was revealed unto Paul but what God revealed was the body of Christ is everybody that's saved both Jew and Gentile into one body I don't know Peter understood that I don't read in verse ii Peter where he talks about the body of Christ so I don't know if you understood that so what did he understand clearly Peter learned salvation by grace through faith in the blood from Paul in in acts 15 11 Peter says we believe we shall be saved by grace so he accepted the message of grace that means Peter was a grace preacher hey man first Peter 1:18 and 19 Peter is preaching about the blood atonement of Christ and redeemed through the blood anybody tells you otherwise they're not reading their Bible it's impossible to say well the book of first Peter is only for the tribulation it doesn't apply to us today because it's for Jews no it's for us today but it can have a dual application and it can apply out the tribulation as well and I believe it does but I look at the book of 1st 2nd Peter I go man there's a lot of good stuff in 1st 2nd Peter that I need that's for me it's not like the book of James that's only for the tribulation it's for today as well 1st Peter there's another thing Peter talks about in first Peter 1:23 I'm just going to show you a couple examples of something that Paul taught that Peter preaches and there's only one place that Peter could have got that from and that was from Paul because that's what Paul said example being born again alright I've heard some of these grace preachers or some of these hyper dispensationalists and they say well being born-again that's not for today today we're not born again and so they believe that being born again is in the tribulation alright look at first Peter 1:23 being born again not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever Peter uses the term born-again and these people will say and nowhere in Paul does to talk about being born again why Paul never said born again well John did John says you must be born again in Jesus is speaking that he said that back he reserved the ministry but we understand clearly from Paul what he meant by it he said you must be born of the Spirit and Paul tells us in his epistles when were saved why there's a new birth that takes in which the old dead spirit is reborn and now the Holy Spirit of God is inside of us and I've heard a guy single time well breaker you know I hear what you're what you're putting out there I hear what you're saying but well you're such a lot of nowhere did Paul ever say born-again Oh read your Bible munch do you go to first Corinthians 4:15 Paul preached on being begotten by the gospel this is something that Paul taught begotten by or through the gospel what is that that's the new birth that's being born again spiritually the spiritual new birth and look what it says in first Corinthians 4:15 for though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ yet have you not many fathers for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel born again through the gospel so I believe in the church age that when we're saved were born again now I've had some of these hyper dispensationalists say well you're wrong breaker there's no such thing as born again today well I just read my Bible and prove what I believe from scriptures if you don't want to believe that you help yourself but I'm just gonna go by what the Bible says being born again I should have looked it up in which it talks about being born of the Spirit that's a spiritual birth begotten by the gospel so another example 1st Peter 4:8 here's another example of where both Peter and Paul are saying the same things which means when they got together they they got on the same page you cannot say Peter only preached his own gospel and he preached a very different gospel than Paul that's not entirely true at the beginning of the book of Acts yes but as you continue reading Acts you see Peter accepting Paul's message they spent 15 days together and there was a lot of things that Paul taught Peter that Peter then went out and preached as well because he received it from God because God revealed it to Paul one of the things that he would have received was the message of charity 1st Peter 4:8 and it says and above all things have fervent charity among yourselves charity shall cover a multitude of sins now you go to Colossians chapter 3 verse 14 that sounds exactly like puddle and above all these things put on charity charity which is the bond of perfectness so you clearly see that Paul had an influence on Peter and in Peters epistles we see that when we went through James we didn't see that James didn't say hardly anything that Paul said which means it must have been written way before Paul so that's why we have to rightly divide we have to understand the word of truth and there's a lot of folks out there that don't now but again many of your hyper dispensationalist your grace preachers is what they like to call themselves many of them teach that the book of 1st and 2nd Peter is only for the tribulation in produce and not for today again I do not agree with that I believe it's for today but I also believe that it can and does apply to the future tribulation and the Jews will read it in the tribulation and understand some things that they need to know now how do you spot a high participation list I have on YouTube if you want to know more about hyper dispensationalists I have a video on why I am NOT a high participation list have another video on hyper dispensationalism in a nutshell another video I have when did the church start another video what is the body of Christ because the hyper dispensationalists love to talk about the body of Christ and hyper dispensationalists are what they call mid acts people and for a long time I'm like what does mid acts what are they talking about and now I understand I'm talking to some of them and hearing from others that listen to him what they believe they believe that the body of Christ starts with Paul so the high purse let me write that up here high purse dispensationalist believed that the body of Christ started with Paul now why is that wrong because that's not what Paul taught and that's not what the Bible teaches that's their interpretation because they go to such an extreme of dividing Peter and Paul in which they say Peter only to Jews Paul Aleta Gentiles and I've heard some of them go so far as to say and the body of Christ is only Gentiles not Jews and not all of them teach that but some of the ones I've listened to they say in the body of Christ it's only Gentiles there's no Jews and you go really and they teach that the first person in the body of Christ was Paul and I go excuse me you got a flaw in your doctor in there buddy you just undid everything you just said because you said the body of Christ is only Gentiles and Paul was the first one in it but Paul was a Jew so there must be Jews in the body of Christ you can't say the body of Christ today only Gentiles no Jews it doesn't work Paul was a Jew all right so when did the body of Christ start well the body of Christ started with guess who Christ that's why it's called the body of Christ Christ died on the cross for a body and it's called the body of Christ if these hyper dispensationalists were right it would be called the body of paul but it's not the body of paul it's the body of christ now let me show you this is the foundational verse of a high participation list the hyper dispensationalist believes that the body of christ starts with paul and they will take you to first Corinthians chapter 3 now again I do not hate hyper dismiss a Shoeless I have some that are friends and I hear them preach the gospel of 1st Corinthians 15 and faith in the blood so I appreciate them for that but then they go too far with these other things and when they preach on this that's when I go now can't go along with you no I do not believe that Paul was the first in the body of Christ because that's not what the Bible teaches and I want to take the rest of this time here to show that to you all right so they go to first Corinthians 3:10 all right now I've dealt with so many of these people and I've read their books and I say why do you believe that Paul is the first one in the body of Christ and they say first corinthians 3:10 I say let's read it okay Paul says in 1st Corinthians 3 10 according to the grace God which is given unto me as a wise masterbuilder I have laid the foundation and another buildeth thereon but let every man take heed how he buildeth thereon they see see o speaking said he laid the foundation he is the foundation as body Christ and I say whoa stop please stop do you understand context you cannot take one verse out of context usually you need to read three verses above and three verses after just to be safe but every single time I deal with these people and they tell me the foundation is Paul the foundation is Paul the foundation the body of Christ starts with Paul I say do me one favor read the very next verse usually they won't the very next verse says for other foundation can no man lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ what is the foundation of the body of Christ Jesus Christ they say no it's Paul it's no that's Paul it's no it's Paul and you say no the next verse says it's Jesus so what are they doing they are deceiving themselves and deceiving you if they try to teach that the body of Christ started with Paul because they will not read the context in the context is the body of Christ the foundation is Jesus I could go through and show you some other verses and I think I do on those videos I ask you to look up why I'm not hyper dispensationalist - sensationalism that Jesus is called the head he is the head so the body of Christ starts with Christ that's why it's called the body of Christ not the body of Paul and so when Paul is speaking here you say well how on earth could Paul say he's the foundation and then turn around say Jesus the foundation the context he's writing to the Church of Corinth he went to Corinth as a missionary and he started that local church and he laid the foundation of that local church by beginning that local church so he's saying I was the foundation I'm the master builder I came to this place and I started this church but please don't worship Me the foundation is really Jesus so yeah I'm the one that came here but he's the foundation do you understand that many of your high participation lists do not know thing me hyper dispensationalists will do is they'll go to first Timothy and I've had a lot lately say brother breaker I'll watch this guy or that guy in YouTube is he a hyper dismiss ageless I said well if he teaches this that that and the other thing that he is they say yeah but he has a lot of good teaching I go I bet he does he's King James only he's preaching the blood of Christ I bet he has a lot of good stuff but when he tells you that the body Christ started with Paul he's out there in left field he's not with the Bible he's teaching a man-made doctrine and he's twisting scriptures to do it first Timothy chapter 1 verse 16 hyper dispensationalists go to this verse and they say now the pattern is Paul and Paul's the first one in the body of Christ okay let's read it Paul says the first timothy 1:16 howbeit for this cause i obtain mercy then in me first jesus christ might show forth all long-suffering for a pattern so long-suffering well that's kind of interesting because that's what the book of the first Peters about suffering but long suffering what is saying here is that Paul is the pattern of long suffering it's not saying in that verse you cannot show me in that verse where it says Paul is the pattern of the body of Christ and he's the first one in it you're twisting the scripture to say what you wanted to say but it's not saying and the first one is the body of Christ is Paul he uses the word obtained mercy in verse 16 well verse 13 it says who was before a blasphemer a persecutor dangerous but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief and you read the context there it's talking about how he did evil things before he was safe but he was a pattern of how long-suffering God was toward him and didn't end up putting him in hell but by grace God put up with what he did and then in the future led him to the Lord now back to 2nd Peter chapter 3 and here's what Peter says about Paul we read this already but I want to read it again second Peter 3 speaking of Paul in verse 15 2nd Peter 3:15 account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him has written unto you so Paul was a pattern of long-suffering he was an example of the long-suffering of God and how long-suffering God is and God didn't kill him but God waited and had Grace on him and then he saved him that verse first Timothy 1:16 is not saying that the pattern of Paul is Paul was the first one in the body of Christ someone is reading into the verse what they want to believe and we can't do that we have to believe what the Bible says not what we want it to say so very quickly let me just prove to you how the body of Christ could not and did not start with Paul go to Colossians chapter 1 in Colossians 1 verse 18 speaking of Jesus Christ clutches 118 and he is the head of the body Jesus Christ is the head the church so the body is the church some Colossians 1:18 tells us clearly that the body equals the church some he Jesus is the head of the body which is the church looking verse 24 also who now rejoice and my sufferance for you and fill up that which is behind in the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his bodies sake which is the church so the body of Christ is the church and the church is the body when did the church start with Christ's death on the cross he died he gave up his body as an offering and that started the body of Christ let me show you another verse go to Galatians 1:13 I want people to get this because there's good other folks out there that love the Lord but when you're off on your doctrine you're off on your doctrine so you've got to make sure you get your doctrine straight look at what Paul says in Galatians 1:13 now remember a hyper dispensationalist says right here the body of Christ started with Paul alright the body of Christ is the church so you must be saying that the church didn't started till Paul all right if that's the truth then why does Paul say this look at what Paul says in Galatians 1:13 for you heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews religion how that beyond measure I persecuted the Church of God and wasted it Paul says before I got saved I persecuted the church and what nature what is the church the body of Christ so he must have been persecuting the body of Christ because the body of Christ equals the church and if he persecuted them before he was saved then that means the body of Christ existed before Paul and there was people in it before Paul do you get that I mean we're just connecting the dots and it's so simple let's go to 1st Corinthians chapter 12 now I don't hate hyper dispensationalists that but there's one thing that I've tried to do is share with them what the Bible says and oftentimes they're so in their mind so into what they believe that they won't even listen to what the Bible says and if they listen they would get it but a lot of times it's just arguing all they want to do is argue that's why I have friends that are hyper dispensationalists but I love my lord I can't really talk to because all they want to do is argue and try to prove that that Paul is the first one in the body of Christ and and I say brother I love you but you are not gonna convince me because I do not see that in the Bible and I do not believe that because according to the Bible that's not what the Bible teaches let me show you nothing Paul just said I persecuted the church before I got saved I persecuted the body of Christ before I got sick so the body of Christ it was what it was there before Paul let's go to 1st Corinthians chapter 12 verse 27 and look at another example 1st grade these 1227 Paul is speaking he says now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular and God has set some in the church what is the church the body of Christ first apostles so these early Twelve Apostles Peter included we're a part of the church and the church is the body of Christ so Peter and the early apostles were in the body of Christ so you cannot say that the body of Christ started with Paul because Paul's own mouth said hey before me I persecuted the body of Christ and there were apostles they were in the body of Christ before me you can read the rest of that later I've got to move let's go to Ephesians chapter 4 Ephesians chapter 4 I just want to follow what the Bible teaches I don't want to get off on some tangent that some denomination teaches I want to stick with the book Ephesians 4 verse 11 and he gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers what for for the perfecting of the Saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ and these people were given for the edifying of the body Christ and who was mentioned the apostles the apostles and Paul told us in the other passages the apostles were in the church the body of Christ and we could read on there look at verse 14 that we henceforth no more I mean no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive that's your hyper dispensationalist they want to deceive you into believing and accepting their teaching that Paul's the first one in the body of Christ I cannot allow myself to be deceived by that because that's not what the Bible shows me the Bible clearly shows me that the body of Christ exists from the time of when Christ died and who is in it both Jew and Gentile let's look at that there in the passage verse 15 but speaking the truth and love that's what I'm trying to do I love you I hope you get a hold of this if you're a hyper dismiss a Shoeless get right you don't have to be but speaking the truth in love may grow up into him in all things which is the head even Christ not Paul the head is Christ from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth according to the effectual working in the measure of every part maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love now let's go to UM let's go to first Corinthians 12 I mean I've got so many verses here so much to get into first Corinthians 12 with 12 for as the body is one and hath many members and all the members of that one body being many are one body so also is Christ for about one spirit are we all baptized into one body whether we Jews or Gentiles whether it be bond or free and have been made all made to drink into one spirit now I took you to Acts chapter 10 and I showed you that when Cornelius the Gentile believed he got the Holy Spirit and this verse says that it's the spirit that baptizes you into the body and that took place with Peter way before Paul came along so the body of Christ must exist before Paul and you go to book of Ephesians and that's what it says it talks about how in one body by the cross so the cross of Christ is where Jesus died and then after him in his body you had both Jews and Gentiles and when they got saved and got the Holy Spirit they became members of the body of Christ that's what the Bible teaches now I can't remember what verse I wanted if there was a verse to talk about being in Christ now when we get saved we are in Christ in Christ is in us so let's go to Romans chapter 16 and verse 7 being saved is being in Christ in his body Romans 16 7 of what it says Paul speaking says salute Andronicus and Junia my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners who are of note among the apostles who also were in Christ before me now look at that confession of the Apostle Paul Paul says before me there was someone that was in Christ what is he saying he's saying they were in the body of Christ before me now I don't have time to get into more verses on that I just wanted to throw that out there give chance look up those videos on YouTube while I'm not a helper dispensationalist hyper this was a schism in a nutshell I went to the body of Christ start one of the church start and look at all these things and you'll clearly see that the body of Christ started with Jesus and the first people in the body of Christ were the early apostles but they didn't know anything about the body of Christ that was something that was revealed to Paul later the mystery of Christ in you the hope of glory and you be in his body and that's something that Paul would have revealed quickly let's go to Ephesians two reasons chapter 2 verse 12 pieces to 12 says and at that time you were without Christ being aliens from the Commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the committed as a promise having no hope and without God in the world but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ that's Paul's message it's the blood that saves us today now for he is our peace who have broken who have made both one and broken down the middle wall of partition between us having abolished in his flesh the enmity even the law of commandments continuances for making himself between one new man so making peace with a new man well that's the new the body a new man in the body the body of Christ now look what it says here in verse 16 and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross having slain the enmity there thereof the cross is what started the body of Christ in order that both Jew and Gentile could be saved into one body and look what he says here 17 he came and preached peace to you that were afar off who were the ones that were fall off those were the Gentiles and to them that were not that through him we both have access by one spirit unto the Father now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow-citizens with the Saints and of the household of God and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Cornerstone so both Jew and Gentile is in one body through the blood of Christ and he is the chief you know let me spell chief right well I'll just put he's the chief cornerstone the cornerstone is what you lay it's the foundation the foundation the cornerstone the head of the body is Jesus so all these people that not say from the time that Christ died till till the rapture are in the body of Christ and the body of Christ is both Jew and Gentile a lot more than I could say but I got to stop there now I had a few more things that I wanted to give here and I guess I'll have to give this next time but let's close with this quickly and let's go to Peter 4:16 first Peter 4:16 I said all that to get to this first Peter 4:16 you're hyper dispensationalists say you're wrong robber breaker the body of Christ starts with Paul so therefore first and second Peter only to Jews not to Gentiles okay what does Peter say first Peter 4 and verse 16 he tells us who he's running to first Peter 4:16 and in 1st Peter 4:16 Peter says yet if any man suffer as a Christian let him not be ashamed let him glorify God on this behalf Peter says guess so I'm writing to Christians now I've heard hyper dispensation let's say well I don't call myself a Christian I say really why not they say well Christians were only the Jewish early believers I said oh really tell me more let's go to Acts chapter 11 verse 26 and they say well you know acts 11:26 is the first time the word Christian shows up okay acts 11:26 look what it says in 2 the verse and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch so here's chapter 11 well that's right here in the early church which by the way Gentiles had just gotten saved into in chapter 10 the early church moved to Antioch and they used the term Christians and I've heard how some hyper dispensation let's say so Christians is only the Jewish believers and it's not today so they say I don't call myself a Christian I say you need to look up the word Christian in the Bible go to acts 26 28 that term Christian was not just applied then to these Jewish believers that word Christian came all the way over here and in Paul's ministry that was a turn was used to those that believed Paul's gospel because here we have Acts chapter 26 and verse 28 and Paul is trying to win a man to the lord named Agrippa and Agrippa hears the preaching of Paul and look what he says in verse 28 acts 26 28 then Agrippa said unto Paul all my almost don't persuade us me to be a Christian why would he say that because that's what the followers of Paul called themselves Christians so when you become a hyper dispensationalist and you begin to wrongly divide the word of truth and you begin to split it up so much that you just divided into Jew and Gentile Jew and Gentile Jew and Gentile and you say now Peters different Peter never preached Paul Peters way over there he's not even part of the body of Christ you get really messed up and some of these hyper dispensationalists say I don't call myself a Christian because that was only the early Jews and yet Paul if he were alive today he'd say I'm a Christian I tried to convert Agrippa but Agrippa said you know I don't want to be like you I don't want to be a Christian a Christian is anyone that's saved by Christ and is in Christ so you get really messed up if you begin following the hyper dispensationalist when I was in Bible School my Bible teacher he said watch out for hyper dispensationalist so you know what I did I found out who they were I learned a little bit about him and I stayed away from but after I came back from Honduras as a missionary I said you know what I was always warned of the hyper dispensation I'm gonna seek him out and see what they teach and I said in their church for a couple years and took notes and I got a long list of notes of things that they teach that I don't believe because they teach that from their perspective but you go to Paul and Paul does not agree with what they teach and so I have this list of why I'm not a hyper dispensation aside I I sit there and listen to know what they believe because if I deal with someone that is a high participation list I want to know how to get them back to the scriptures and to the Bible so that they'll follow the Scriptures and not false teaching so there you go that's our beginning we only got the first one of first Peter but first Peter is a great book to cure yourself of being a high participation understanding that Peter accepted Paul's teaching and it's right there in verse 18 and 19 Peter says no we're redeemed by the blood of Christ it's right there in acts 15 no I accept the message of salvation by grace so even Peter was the greatest believer if you simply read the Bible and take it as it says it and I don't want to follow man I don't want to follow man's doctor and I want to follow what men teach I want to follow what the Bible says if you're hyper dismiss ation listen you watch this video and you're angry please don't be angry I don't hate you I'm not speaking against you I'm not putting you down I'm just telling you you believe this but the Bible says this and I'm going to follow the Scriptures and I want my viewers to know what the Bible teaches so they don't fall into false teaching and they don't end up not rightly dividing the orders so I hope it's been a blessing our first Peter is a great book I can't wait to get into it next week we'll start there in verse well we'll start in verse one again but this is verse one kind of an introduction and hopefully it's a blessing and helped you to understand yes Paul is our apostle it's important to follow Paul but Paul had an influence on the other apostles now James died that James died before he got ahold of Paul's message but Peter while he got ahold of much of the message of Paul and he went out preaching and we're gonna see in first Peter how there's a lot of stuff that sounds Jewish and like it's future for Jews but we're all gonna also going to see how it can and does apply to us today alright thanks for watching we'll see you next week god bless and if you're a high participation list I love you in the Lord I just want to see you get your doctor right amen bye-bye
