hey everybody welcome back to another Ark survival ascended video today I'm going to teach you how you can quickly and easily improve your FPS on Arc ascended console edition I'm playing on the Xbox series X at 1440p but this will also help you if you're on a different resolution or on the Xbox series s or even playing on Playstation once that launches with the default settings my frame rate is running around 32 to 34 FPS on average whilst running around and with these tweaks today we can get up to 42 to 45 FPS on average whilst moving and sometimes going up to 55 to 60 so an improvement of at least 10 FPS or more without making the game look too terrible it's obviously not amazing but it's definitely an improvement if increasing FPS is your goal as always I'll put a full chapter listing on the video down below so you can find the section that is of most interest to you and if you find today's video useful at all then why not drop a like And subscribe and stay up to date with all of my arc ascended console edition tips and tricks videos so first up I'm going to show you how you can access the console commands on your console so you go to start menu and press settings and then go over to the advanced tab you can see up here and then find where it says console access select that to turn into on and click save once you're back in game press the start menu again you can see in the bottom left hand side of the screen it says console command press the back button or select some people call it and that's going to pull up the console command UI for you yours will be blank when you first see it these ones listed here are ones that I've already typed in and what we're going to do first off is just put in stat space FPS it's not case sensitive so if you're doing this from the beginning you type this in at the bottom here startat FPS and then just press start and you can see what that's done is that's given us this FPS counter on the right hand side of the screen there so this is with completely default settings you can see standing still here it's sitting around 33 34 FPS if we start looking at the ground it's going to go up to 4 41 42 look up the sky we're going to get a little bit lower cuz the clouds start running around we'll see what we get just running around this little area here with default settings so you see we're going up to nearly 38 in some instances and then down to 30 31 if we're running through some busy Woods I'd expect that's going to the 20s but look sometimes it's even going up to 40 FPS so it is all over the place it does vary a lot there's a good argument for having a locked frame rate maybe of just 30 until they can get it so at handle 60 you can see where're going up between sort of 38 to 30 I'd say on average depending on what we're doing we're probably around 33 34 that kind of area so first off the easiest stuff to change is the ingame video settings you go to General and then over to video here and you'll see that we've got the default settings here motion blur film grain color grading light Bloom and light shaft motion blur I would always have off anyway so we'll turn that off light Bloom and light shafts are going to give you a bit of an FPS boost I haven't really noticed much of a change when I changed color grading but we will turn it off anyway just so we can see how it looks but Bloom and shafts are going to give you the biggest benefit there and if we go back to the game we might see a very small Improvement it's not very noticeable still sitting around that sort of low to mid-30s when we're down in this area around 34 35 and sometimes even dip into the 20s but what we can do to really improve things further is by using the console commands so if we pull up our console there's four that we're going to use today there are lots more console commands that you can use that will increase FPS but you get to a point where it just makes the game look terrible and if you're going to make the game look completely terrible then you might as well just be playing Arc survival evolved so we're going to try and find a balance here first I'm going to show you disabling clouds and fog and then after that we're going to disable grass and shadows both of which have fairly significant effect on how the game looks so first up we're going to disable clouds what you need to do is Click into the box at the bottom and then when you're editing this you need to type in r. volumetric Cloud you you can see here space zero and then press start and that is going to get rid of the clouds you can see they've all disappeared up there and instantly you can see my FPS is actually quite a lot better if I look at the ground he see it's up to like 55 now and even just stand around we're sitting around 40 so you get a big Boost from that the second command we are going to put in is volumetric fog so much the same as before we click this box at the bottom to open that you type in r. volumetric fog space zero and then press start and that's going to get rid of the fog and again give you a bit of an FPS boost you can see it's gone up another one or two there we're sitting around 41 42 while stationary so with these two you do get a pretty nice boost Without Really degrading the game visual quality very much at all I find you can see running around it's up near a 40 or over 40 most of the time that we're moving and stay sure you saw it go pretty high look we're still pretty regularly uh in the 40s here obviously that's not amazing but it's better than it was so there's two more console commands I'm going to show you both of these have a pretty significant effect on how the game looks but they do give a bit of an FPS boost as well so first up we are going to disable Shadows so this is r. Shadow quality zero you can see it's made a big difference going straight away there got rid of all of the Shadows if you just want to see that command again there it is. Shadow quality space z if you look down at the ground here we're getting 75 up to 80 82 FPS just doing that running around we're getting 40 low high 30s low 40s that sort of area but you can see that the game looks pretty significantly different now we're running around with shadows turned off if we then go into the menu we're going to change the final setting which makes a big difference again to both the look and the FPS we are going to disable grass ignore these various different iterations I've typed here only one of them is actually correct and that is grass. enable Zer so if we type grass. enable space zero and then press Start you won't notice anything happen for a second takes a little while for for it to kick in but there we go all of the grass is starting to disappear gets rid of loads of foliage just takes a little while for it all to update there you go and see a lot of that is now cleared out in this area so obviously a big difference again to the look of the game with this and shadows off but it does again help our FPS we look at the ground we're getting sort of 70 80 if we run around obviously there's none of this grass to load in now we're getting 44 45 46 47 hasn't really gone below 42 this whole time been running around but obviously this looks a lot worse than the game did a little while ago it's up to you of course if you prefer FPS then this is going to be better for you personally I think I'd probably leave this on I'd maybe turn Shadows off I'm not sure I'd probably just do the first two and be happy with you know a 40ish frame rate rather than making my game look like a load of junk for an extra five maybe 10 FPS depending on where you are but if you're playing on the Xbox series s or one of the other weaker consoles then then you might find that you need to do this in order to get an acceptable frame rate if you think that everything's just gone too far then the easiest way to clear all of these console commands that you've used is just to close and reopen the game fully again and that'll completely clear them all so here we are I've just reloaded you can see everything is back to normal now the game doesn't look terrible we've got our clouds we've got our fog the frame rate is noticeably a bit slow again and if we want we can go back in and we can reenable some of these we'll bring back our FPS counter we'll get rid of our clouds we'll get get rid of our fog and I think we'll leave it at that for now so that's everything for today hopefully you found this video useful let me know in the comments if you have any other tips for improving the frame rate without completely destroying the look of the game there are certainly a lot of other console commands out there that can remove more things and help but I think most of them just end up making the game look pretty rubbish and then you might as well just be playing Ark survival evolved don't forget to like And subscribe if you enjoyed the video my name's Ben we are the beard guys and I'll see you next time for
