I love how at the end he commends them for not freaking out but instead trying to work out the issues when they don't understand. Sign of a great teacher!

I would have been the one to just insist that I understand it to avoid the awkwardness and just take the L on the test.

this looks like a normal math lesson at my university.

These guys are all stuck on the math. I want to know his explanation for drawing a line through 3,4 when there is only a single point to reference in the graph.

You know what I love about this? The kids are trying SO HARD to understand. They're curious, they're asking questions, they are trying to figure it out.

Half the kids on my high school would have been "Don't understand, fuck you, teach better." And honestly, they were like that because the teachers were like "Understand, I explained it once you little shit, learn better."

The fact these kids are into it is a sign of a great teacher.

I can tell you're an excellent teacher by the questions your students were asking.

Judging by this all of my math classes were an April fools joke throughout high school

At first when he wrote the formula I didn't even see that it read April Fools, but that's hilarious!

good ok good morning class algebra 2 we are suffering viewer back from a trip welcome back you're happy to be back [Laughter] anyway in your absence half the class we went over this topic and I want to do it with you it shouldn't take too long and then we'll we'll try some practice problems with that ok some people think this Sigma stuff Sigma means some some people think it's challenging but it's easy once you understand so ask questions if you have any problems right ok so it's basically Sigma x1 y1 this is a point on the graph so let's do the point maybe let's say Sigma give me any point 3 4 3 4 sounds good Sigma 3 4 1 2 3 1 2 3 4 ok but I want to seem anything I want to say Sigma over X Y creates a line through 3 for a negative 1 what happens though is that then you divide this thing by X 2 loops X 2 y 2 and then that creates a line right below the 3 4 so that would be 3 3 no questions yeah I have no idea that's why I sort of left I figured what happened yeah can you help us yeah how do we help you understand this part she was hard at first when you first taught it Butler there's in the bucket sides the definition of that root for any real number and you need and any positive positive integer and if the definition of the unfree applying this is that n is the number of times you divide the fraction so here on the boxes in blue so right now notice you have two divisions so N equals two divisions and so we have two lines from help you divided and is the number of times you divide and how do you know how many times we've questioned here in my Q formula that's based on division you and you can divide with an infinite number of times but we actually just we cut it it - it's the easiest examples - and what do it next too much there's another point in this case three ranks one oh sure is me okay second point where do you think the third one would be but we understood three two dozen X 3 3 - we're going to sum them yes - yeah question here I'm sorry 9 3 4 3 comma 4 good questions how do you divide X Y you mean how do you divide 3 4 by X Y so now look at equals 3 and equals 3 let's pick a different color black so we go through the point 3 2 who can answer a question about how we okay okay so the reciprocal whoa how do you do the reciprocal of a fraction that's divided three times you end up multiplying it by the negative twice so it stays the same well if Z and if Z is positive or negative its squared so it's giving a positive right yeah so my question is very do it was hard for them to just like reliving the moment with them that this happened just laughing and you're lost and you're not ask your question follow-ups one y one decided we send any point anyone three four why are you dividing it by X Y yeah why at this look okay no it's another one said together and no one said that rise over run yeah oh wait wait so you go three four divided by three four no three four yeah three is the run obviously good as X this is the rise and so this would be run and rise so you have rise over run now this is where the four fractions come in rise over run times the reciprocal is run over rise because you're dividing by rise over run again and so the boom rise is canceled and then that's what gets you this constant which is Z okay so it's you guys know what proportions yes it's kind of like a proportion problem where you're given two fractions and then you cross multiply it to get like another body but where the fraction of what are the what are the fractions right where the fraction 3/4 3/4 ki oh so this is 4 and 3 because that's the rice right and then you have we agreed that was three three so that's three people why do you why because these that we talk about the slopes so it's parallel slopes did I not say that before no no wait I'm sorry wait how did you get before I mean three four no three four wouldn't be a parallel slope the only point that would be parallel would let's say one less and follows the same line follows the same slope so here's M canceling three and three then you have four over three so in this case the constant is 3/4 of a dream that's for victory is the constant and that's the slope of this line what tells you that it was three three oh that was my question what tells you that it was three three what I Remora just said about the point being below is slow it's a slope and so you started with the point three four and so three three is right below does this look I write this formula down no sleeve a to the P R was the rate like rate is like a slope okay and then that times the constant was a to the 0 which is 1 and then x times the same constant though what does I mean every need that's it now okay oh it's it to the zero is one oh this sorry this is I know what it's called mathematically what was it that would what would help you remember that oh oh it's like so after though no I mean you guys were almost done with this was all it is the formula [Applause] we will we will I wanted things you got to because I just want to also say that like I really I commend people that didn't know for not ever panicking or having a bad attitude or anything it's really like a that was a good glimpse into your soul into like when things get really tough but you don't it's supposed to yeah but I appreciate the fact that you guys had a good attitude so did you get that a moment after all you
