welcome back everybody this is Eric here with Iraq veteran 8888 you guessed it we got another meltdown episode for you I know it's been a while I apologize I read the comments I see what you say a lot of folks are like we're gonna be some more bailed notes coming down the pipeline well got more they're coming alright we're doing them that's what we're doing today all right and today we're gonna be taking out this Anderson upper I got this one through Big Daddy unlimited a lot of folks have been asking to see something along the lines of an Anderson get melted down just to see how long it can last and Anderson is known for making let's just say entry level lowers and uppers and they also have some complete uppers and complete lowers they sell and their assemblies are just kind of known for being you know a good value I wouldn't say cheap in terms of quality but you know a little bit less expensive option that's out there okay and these uppers aren't cheap I mean these things are like 500 bucks so I'm going to discuss real quickly the specs on this upper this 556 NATO chamber we've got a 16 inch m4 profile barrel it does have an m4 m203 cut in it all right we've got their night stock or flash hider that comes preassembled on here we've got a 15-inch keymod rail low-profile gas block that does not appear to be staked it's just screwed in held in with two set screws so we'll see how that holds up it's a carbine length gas system we've got a 7075 t6 receiver with dust cover and forward assist in place so that's a pretty standard fare the bolt is 91/30 steel that's magnesium phosphate 'add it says their MP I tested magnetic particle inspection I think that's what that means all right the carrier is 8620 steel and it's got a state gas key so you know this is kind of a upper end anderson upper so i'm gonna go ahead and dawn all my protective gear and we're gonna proceed to kill this thing now if you guys don't know how this works we're gonna shoot this thing till it dies or until something stops something break something goes wrong we have some catastrophic failure we're going to shoot the gun to its top the benchmark to reach on a DI gun and our testing has been anywhere between eight or nine hundred rounds that seems to be about the average that a DI gun will fail but let's see you never know so let's get to it we've got the same ammo in the same order that we normally shoot we actually are going to be renting some of this norm attack this is 55 grain Norma ammunition that we're running in today's video this stuff's actually very consistent ammo it's got a very consistent ejection pattern when being shot full auto at long distance for a 55 green pill we've shot this stuff out to 600 yards it's great ammo it holds up really well I hate to burn it up it's good stuff but anyway we are going to do it so let's get after it and we'll see how the anderson holds up let's do it alright guys here we go we're gonna give it a shot see how long little anderson can hold up I know that Anderson gets a lot of hate from a lot of the elites out there that go oh you have to have you know whatever this is expensive that's expensive you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good quality AR but with that being said I mean we saw how well the MMP held up we'll see how good the anderson holds up compared to the MVP all right here we go hold on to your butts because it's happening what did that berm ever do to me that's fast and things running fast Chad gas tube is getting warm boys and girls that gas tubes about to go running good come on little girl let's go excellent yeah all right stay clear yep I knew that happen I knew that happen I knew it was going to happen we got a cook-off alright hold the phone guys this thing's warm it's down well it looks like it started to rain on us guys don't worry it's just the tears of all the people that didn't expect this gun to do very well that's alright well I tried to perform immediate action on the gun but we could not get the stoppage out of the chamber and what ended up happening we had out of battery and a cook-off and that cook-off blew this shell out like you can see right here okay and it basically fire formed the brass to the chamber so we ended up having to pull the barrel pull the extension and everything to get the gun apart so that's our brass flow from our normal case we had a projectile stuck in the lead so even if we could clear the brass case we wouldn't have been able to get the projectile out of the way without clearing the gun to get the other round the chamber because this was stuck in the lead it didn't take nothing but just the weight of a rod to push this projectile back out of the lead of the barrel okay so that's that and we actually had a piece of lead that melted from the core of that projectile that's a pretty interesting result the rail itself good to go not a single problem that could be reused not an issue we did see some heat discoloration at the end of the charging handle you can see a big difference there in the heat discharge but I don't imagine that's an issue charging handle is good to go upper receiver nothing to report everything's good to go on the upper receiver not an issue there at all okay our barrel itself okay the gas block we actually pulled the gas block off we remove the two screws the set screws holding gas block in and we pulled it off and we measured the gas port no erosion on the gas port the gas tube itself you can see obviously at this point is extremely dysphoria is I thought that that gas tube was going to go but it ended up not even being close to going and we had a stoppage out of the DC I'm not going to tribute that stoppage to the drum or the ammo or the gun but the fact of the matter is we did have a stoppage out of our d60 drum magazine okay think I only got about four or five shots out of that mag before the bolt fail failed to go in the battery and when it did we had out of battery discharge and that's what stopped the weapon we want to say we went about six hundred forty some odd rounds okay I feel like the gun would have been went a little bit longer if it would have had the the stoppage the stoppage is ultimately what killed the gun now the heat treat on this barrel was absolutely screwed guys remember lad melts at about six hundred twenty degrees okay so that that chamber and that barrel got hot enough to melt lead out of the core of the projectile that was stuck in the lead of the rifling it's a hot barrel I would imagine we got that barrel probably well over a thousand degrees okay the muzzle device no problem the barrel you know it's safe to say the barrel might be toast in terms of heat treat possibly but the rifling on this barrel very very strong there's a little bit of erosion there in the lead obviously but the rifling is still relatively strong so the barrel held up pretty good the bolt carrier still moves freely no major issue there the gas key did not come unstacked at all no sheared locking lugs or anything weird like that so the bolt carrier I believe is still good to go you know we could probably put this gun back together and it probably fired just fine no problems at all so hopefully this gives you an idea of what an Anderson can do now remember this is kind of an upper in Anderson this is like a 500-dollar upper so definitely not a cheap upper by any stretch of the imagination be really cool to see how one of the lesser expensive maybe r85 coated anderson uppers would do will probably test that in a future video but um I feel like the upper did pretty good if it wasn't for the stoppage it's safe to say now obviously this is speculation but maybe the upper would go a little bit longer you know maybe we would get into that 705 need 850 round camp which is about where a DI would fail anyway now one observation I want to make note of here is that about four or five bags in that gas tube was glowing cherry red it got hot really really quick and I just knew that it was gonna go but oddly enough didn't have a single problem the gas tube held and despite it being a little bit malformed obviously probably will still work okay guys thanks so much for watching today's video I really appreciate the support from you all the folks who you know purchase man cans to help support the channel if you support us on patreon if you purchase t-shirts and merch over on the website all those funds go right back into supporting projects like this so thank you very much I'm going to go dry all this stuff off all those tears falling out of the sky from all your crying elitists out there little gun didn't do too bad so thanks so much for watching we'll see you next time many more videos on the way [Music] you
