[Music] hello my darling hi hi everybody you cuties queen the queen oh no that's you no i know you are but what am i yeah guys okay i'm gonna be totally honest with you top five but probably top three favorite darlene czech brook carrie carrie job carnes the list is very long but give it up for brooke all honor i love you so much okay so this is love live fun babies jesus marriage favorite food top of your head i'm a foodie favorite food like i was just talking about vomit so i can't okay tell the story let's get it out of the road the first time i ever had the honor of being at bethel church i was attending a service dom saved me a seat that was very kind of him and so i was um in worship up in the front and the lord was ministering to me and i was like i need i'm going to get on my knees and respond so i got my knees and i put my face on the carpet and immediately became aware that at some point in the recent past someone had vomited in that exact spot and so i had the choice whether to kind of remain in the vomit spot like and have the luminous all like move but i felt like convicted i was like i can't move just because there's someone vomited here so i remained in that position for quite a while just receiving in my spirit and receiving in my it was very you're a bigger woman than aromatic experience i would have moved here okay on the opposite spectrum of puke what is your favorite thing to eat we're still there i guess um i have to move away from vomit okay um roast lamb that's a very this is probably the most new zealand thing i've ever seen very new zealand okay do we have any new zealanders oh look at that give me that sheep put it in an oven give it back to me i love it very good okay so tell us a little bit about your backstory born in new zealand yes tell us a little bit about the bullet points of your life up until now oh yes i was born lower hut new zealand it's about as glamorous as it sounds lower hot that that tells you a lot about my childhood um chris tomlin yesterday was born in a trailer park pretty much so yes i was born right by the train tracks beautiful heart new zealand um i have two parents it's very good which most of us do that's at the origin of uh genetics um i am the eldest of three kids um my family immediate family are not christians i have a christian heritage on my mum's side but my um parents themselves aren't believers and uh but yet great yep correct um but great people and um my yeah i grew up very simply my mum was a schoolteacher for most of my life dad was um actually my father was one of the most famous athletes in new zealand in the 80s but it wasn't professional at that time so he was one of the most well-known people in the country but in the off-season he would drive trucks so so we kind of had that kind of balance going on um and um yeah came to know jesus when i was 15 years old changed my life how it's a long story tell you another time but it was great um but basically yeah jesus came to get me and um so i met jesus alone in my bedroom and um and then started praying and reading the bible developed this voracious appetite for the bible and then after a few months i was like oh i think i'm a christian this is unexpected and i was like okay i should probably start going to church so my mum would drive me to the local salvation army church every week pick me up after the service and um and then i fell in love with jesus and then fell in love with the church um funny things like i i um the the salvation army at that time i'm not sure if this switched on this now but they didn't baptize so from my own bible reading i was like i need to be baptized like jesus was baptized jesus like i need to be baptized so i organized my own baptism service so i contacted my friend my friend was in this other youth group at this other church and i asked the youth pastor if i could borrow their building i like got some of my friends to form a little worship team invited all my friends from school had my like had my friends do like a worship a worship service and then i like stood up and gave my testimony and then got baptized i loved had no service i made it happen and um yeah um i uh some i'll probably talk a little bit about this um when i have the opportunity to speak later um but but basically had a really crazy amazing um god ride this whole life has been um but i signed to sony music at 18 just out of high school for a five album deal and so um for the past when was that for the past 15 no 17 years now 17 years ago that was um i know it's hard to believe because i look 17 but it's crazy um but um yeah so so um alongside serving in church i had a had slash have but really had a main stream career for that time but it was building church serving church going out into the world hopefully bringing songs that were parables to people bridges bridges to epiphany um and uh and then yeah i've been part of hillsong church since i was 20 moved to australia when i was 20. sorry i'm saying this in a very bad order um and then um yeah and then for the past two years now i've had the terrifying privilege of leading hillsong worship yeah and tell us how you met scotty mascotti well i um i have been married for 11 years to a dashing six foot four australian man called scott ross legitwood and um and i actually we um my first album had come out in new zealand and we were preparing to release it in australia so i was flying to australia for label meetings and i remember i stepped off the plane in sydney for the first time and i had a physical sense of coming home it was very strange it took me a back i felt like i'd come home in a way that i had never felt my entire life in new zealand or anything and um that night um some of the people that i was working with some of them knew some people um out in this district called the hills district and we got invited to a barbecue so australian so we went to this barbecue and i met there the people who had gone to become my best friends including my husband i am i was slash m very awkward at talking about what i do in life because i don't really know how to explain it so he asked me what i did and i told him that i was a kickboxer in australia for my first international tournament and um it was the first thing that came to mind and um and he believed me and i was like you're cool and and so we became really good friends and then um we're friends for many years before something changed and then yeah now we've been married for eleven years and have two little baby girls yes okay so yes you can clap that's great beautiful um tell us you have two baby girls their names tell us about them the cutest things they're doing all the mom things that little video you got today oh my gosh i know um they're very cute dylan is three and rooney just turned two last week and um dylan has a very soft compassionate spirit like i worry about her because she's so soft and so beautiful and rooney's just a savage yeah so so they balance each other they're just the cutest things i'm obsessed with we would like ryder and rooney to have an arranged marriage so we're we're plotting and planning to have yeah i'm all about that it's gonna be good yeah we'll pray into it hopefully it works out okay so normal life for you isn't normal you're all over the place you're in different countries and cities and but where and how and what do you just find the most fun outside of anything musical what do you just love to do like where do you find your connect outside of the worship ministry world um i don't know i love all of my life yes i love all of it um i i really like napping is this the kind of thing does anyone else just like naps i just like a gift you know like naps are evidence that god loves us um so i love nab so that's the most ever said just a nap just brings me joy um yeah i don't know naps and eating and reading and being by myself amazing yes because that doesn't happen very often you get quiet very often not very often she got three hours of sleep last night because she is jet-lagged so she is incredible that she's here and functioning and happy so you guys are so nice yes i need some booze or some hisses it's just it's too encouraging in this place don't encourage them they might it might get crazy on us don't encourage them okay so so hell song worship do you want me to ask you questions too no oh okay no i was just aware [Applause] if any passionate burning questions come into your heart you can what about you what would you say for which part what like outside of ministry and all of those things what are some of the things that fuel you well this is my backyard you're looking at yeah i don't know if you know that or not this is literally my backyard that's a view out my backyard window and that right there this place my home makes me beyond happy there's nowhere else in the world i would rather be um i would say nature being outside being by a campfire the ocean quiet i'm the same my favorite thing in the world is to be in my kitchen by myself cooking just quiet with my thoughts creating something cooking is a creative outlet for me so i love to cook and create especially if i'm by myself um food food is jesus food people wow a good day maybe i'd say jesus we can talk about that people food but you know how i feel about your kitchen i know i was just telling jim before sometimes when i'm stressed i just close my eyes and i visualize her chris her kitchen i just in my mind i close my eyes and it's very organized i open the cupboards and there's just everything labeled neat organized because that's the opposite of life most of the time but jen's kitchen yes hallelujah jyn has a lot of jyn has a lot of help to keep her house organized she's not superwoman she just has a lot of help amen we need help if we're going to do it multitasking in life if you want to if brooke's getting saved right now more lord more it's one of the best advice i ever got as a young newlywed and then into kids was you can't do it all and if you are called to be wife mom leader you need to replace everything else slowly in your life so that anyone could do so that you can really be those three things anybody could do these things so slowly from the age of 19 i had somebody clean my house for an hour two hours and then i've just had more help my entire life and it's the only way that i can do this and have quality time with my kids and not have 50 other things that need to be done so god will give you strategic things of how to do everything that needs to get done um so all right enough of me um tell me hill song worship what are you looking forward to what's on the horizon you've got a new song you've got a new tour coming up with hosong worship tell me a bit about what this next year is going to look like for you with that world it feels um like we're in a really sweet um season with hillsong worship right now we're walking into some really i think kingdom strategic days um i say it's a terrifying privilege to to be entrusted with the leadership of it because it's a we have hillsong united we have hillsong young and free but hillsong worship is our legacy expression so hillstone worship is something that existed long before i came along and if we steward it well we'll exist long after i'm gone um it's a generational thing and it's and it's really a huge part of the legacy of our house our church so um that's not a light thing um but um i'm really excited because we actually this year um we haven't i haven't told anybody this yet this is you but um but we are releasing our first ever studio album out health and worship albums have always been live albums and so that has been a really unique opportunity because we're the challenge and the opportunity to capture the sound of our church um in a studio format um most of you might not care about this but um it was what has been really amazing is just how god has brought all the pieces together and someone was asking you know how do you capture the sound of our church when it's not recorded in our church with our church singing and i would say that i said to them that one of the one of the most one of the first things that we did that's going to inform the sound the most is the things that you'll never hear so we rallied our intercessor team so every day like we were we were we were in the studio but we had teams at our hills campus in sydney and our city campus in sydney praying so you won't hear that on the recording but you will feel that on the recording so when you um when you when you that the first track is a um an instrumental that happens spontaneously in the studio and just this incredible moment of encounter and um and it's um and it sounds like things are waking up sounds like the instruments are waking up and um and so and then it goes into the first song which is about intercession as praise and praises and decision and so one of the things we did was um back in sydney um we got a bunch of our worship leaders together put everyone in the circle in the room around around the microphones and over that instrumental intro just to have had them start interceding for the people who'll be listening to the record have them start interceding for worship teams interceding for pastors interceding for local churches interceding for the suffering and so as people put on their album and have that intro there's going to also be the bubbling sound of prayer so the so i feel like those are the hallmarks of our house the hallmarks of who we are as a church that inform that will inform the sound and so the opportunity to do really um really unique and i think powerful and powerful and holy spirit inspired things like that is one of the reasons i'm so excited about this project and even though it's not live i think that you'll hear the sound of our church and the spirit of what god is doing within it more than ever before so i love that that's beautiful i no i've never told anybody that yet so you guys are the first to know that is super beautiful i'm excited to hear and that will come out next year though that's going to come out um i'm not supposed to tell you oh soon but it's going to come out in a few months it's like secret for the next and probably a month we'll tell everyone all the things so it leaks i see you okay i know you amazing and so tour's coming up yes and tell me about that so we um so for years i've been hearing about casting crowns i'm not from america originally so i wasn't as familiar with them but obviously they're um they've had a huge impact in this nation and i really encourage for years all i've heard is good things about them that they truly truly love jesus that they're local church people um and that they're amazing and so um over a year ago now actually um they approached us and asked if we would ever kind of partner together and do a tour and we said yes so we're going out on the road with them and november elevation worship are going to be i know they were here with you guys which is amazing they're going to be opening up but i'm really excited because um i think it's bringing together perhaps different parts of the church that haven't that wouldn't traditionally perhaps be under one roof together so i'm really excited about about that about the idea of kind of yeah bringing different parts of the church together who wouldn't normally get together and seeing what god does so we're pumped yeah and that's what's so beautiful i think not only about our house but about your house one of the things we love most about you is that the love of what god's doing around the world i mean even from a super young age i became who i am same with brian by being such a melting pot of influence for what god was doing in worship all around the world from hillsong to vineyard to morningstar to all the different things that were happening ihop and just the love that hillsong has of what god's doing around the world even how you bring people in um same with this house it's so stunning to see the fruit of the house with that in heart so i think that that's amazing that you're gonna have a combined you know people who would never necessarily come to casting crowns will come to hillsong and vice versa so i love that um tell me something you're looking forward to or excited about you're you're in a newer house you've moved again are you feeling do you are you feeling connected to me how many houses have you had this year like uh three times rooney rooney i think so rooney's the baby she just turned two last week i think she lived in three houses before she was one yeah which i don't suggest it just kind of happened but we're really have we we we've been in la for a long time but just a year ago moved down to orange county we have a campus down there this fly is really taunting us right now die i'm just pretending get out of here die oh it's like a little baby one no it's not it's terrible i hate you lord of the flies that's a real devilish thing so canceled fly die [Laughter] see out of here authority told you it was very probably going to come back but okay master class later how to vanquish flies in the spirit cancelled dealing with insects spiritually um okay so moving yours we moved yes we moved and it was great oh yeah you didn't mention that you now you you live in we live in orange county yes and this is the dream yes and um i think one of the things we realized was um in i'm trying to think how this can apply to everybody and i think sometimes we um sometimes it's worth asking the question what battles am i fighting that god has not asked me to fight you know sometimes we we find ourselves fighting and struggling with these things that actually if that's a battle that god appointed you to you better not back out if it's not and it's just kind of something that happened in a circumstance that may be developed without you being conscious of it like you can put that down so um so living in la was great for us for a long time um but we we travel a lot our church calendar is really busy um our life calendar is really busy and so kind of going home to um crazy traffic and having to drive 25 minutes to a patch of grass with like young kids we just realized hang on are we fighting some battles that actually god hasn't it hasn't that are draining us of the energy and attention that we actually should be directing towards what god has asked us to engage in so we kind of realized that that was one of those things when i say we i mean scotty because he's always the prophetic one who kind of goes he senses when it's time for there to be a shift um and so we moved and it has been absolutely nourishing and replenishing and now home is a place that feels restful and instead of another battlefront which it did before so we're very grateful yeah and so connection-wise you are with hillsong in orange county oc yeah but also i mean la's close so i'll still go up to la to lead now and then but yeah oc's our home campus you're everywhere all over the globe yep um so talk to me about in this next season year two years what are you dreaming what are you writing what what are you feeling passionate about as far as a word or a theme or what you see god doing i feel um i feel more passionate than ever about about the church it kind of leaks and oozes out of me at the moment and i think that we're in days where um we're in very special days where god is doing something um that i haven't seen i mean i'm not that old so i'm sure he's done it before he doesn't any regeneration but but i think i think you guys are a huge part of that i think that um that brian and jen what you guys have done with bethel in the watering hole that you have created as a gathering point for the worship movements of the world is really significant i think that there is um yeah um and i think that when you when you speak with people who are who are involved in these movements whether it's bethel elevation hillsong passion there is there is more of a sense of a true linking of arms than it than there ever has been and i think um that that that unity is incredibly dangerous to the kingdom of darkness in the best way and so i'm really expecting that we're going to see that spill over into all the areas of church um i think um i think the world needs a move of god but america needs a move of god and america needs to see where there's so much division at the moment there needs to be unity and we need to be at the forefront of that and we don't have to agree on everything but we can agree on jesus and that's the best place to start and um yeah very good okay let's see anything burning on your heart like any any other just like it just your casually okay let's see you guys have been texting in questions so we'll see what crazy stuff you've come up with while we what do we think of it um just tell me real quick though what is the story behind the new song king of kings the newest it may be so new you might not have even heard it yet but i'm sure we will all be singing it in our churches for the next three years what a beautiful name it is if you have have not saying what a beautiful name it is in your church i i don't know what rock you're living under because we sing it at least once every weekend around here king of kings king of kings it only came out on friday so you're not too behind the times yes i only came out on friday today's wednesday yeah right that's bananas okay so um so king of kings is a song um that my husband scotty and i wrote with our friend jason ingram um about at the start of last year and the crazy thing about this song we i mean we worked the bulk of it came really quickly and really felt like a real gift from god um and then a lot of the verses as well we kind of we worked on hand for about a year um and i actually we came to um pre-production for this new hillsong worship album at the start of the year we were listening to all the songs that our writers were submitting and i actually decided not to bring it um and then it wasn't until probably three weeks into the process we had workshops kind of all the other songs and i realized that we didn't have a we didn't have a song lyrically that um that talked about about what jesus had they talked about the cross or that cover the cross that covered the gospel explicitly and i was like lyrically we need to sing about that you know um obviously in in an album and a project um there's you know 12 or so songs and i think it's supposed to be a banquet you know i think there's so much opportunity when we're bringing songs to the church that we need songs of lament we need songs of devotion we need songs of reflection we need songs of declaration songs of prophecy so there's there's a huge gamut that we need to cover um and so so with some almost some hesitancy i said to the guys look we have a we have a song i haven't brought it to you yet um but shall we just run it and see what happens and i think there's a video on instagram actually um and i forgot to tell the guys this when we were filming and talking about it but there was a there's a moment where i just basically burst into tears at the end of doing the song and um and i didn't get to explain to our filming guys it just slipped my mind that that at that moment i i we finished writing the song for the first time and there was such a sense of the presence of god in the room but why i was crying was because i'm gonna cry now it was because um i just felt like um god was the father was saying i love it when you sing about my son and i just sensed it so distinctly we got to the end of of singing that song and declaring the gospel and i just felt like i felt the father's pleasure at jesus's obedience i felt the father's pleasure at what jesus at what jesus did and it wrecked me i will never forget that sense yeah wow see ya bye bye that is that could be a song itself just that concept yeah wow beautiful okay um tell me this what when you are looking for people to bring onto hillsong worship yeah what is it that you are looking for yeah well it's funny you know because i think um i just think god chooses i don't think i get to choose you know um if i if i got to choose i'd probably choose differently and poorly do you know what i mean um but god has a way of putting his finger on people like when when taya came through it wasn't because it wasn't yes her gift um was obvious and undeniable but her spirit yes her spirit was the thing that made it so obvious that god had gone this girl yes and i think that there's um that there's ellen's you know um i'm always praying for god like bring bring us more i'm i'm a i'm a very thinly veiled feminist it's not not hard for anyone um to realize but you know i'm always prank god like bring through more girls bring through more women and you know i could pick 20 girls from our team like in an instant because we have girls that are gifted that are faithful that are sacrificial that are beautiful that are pure that are humble that are strong that have authority but there's something about it that's god's choice like i don't think i get to choose um and so and so we have incredibly i mean we're hillsong street we have hundreds of people who are absolutely outstanding and incredible um but but i think that i mean even at the moment we have something really cool happening in our team but we have a woman who's part of our team called dee you've probably encountered her before she's she's a fijian girl who's been part of our church for maybe 25 years and for for decades for at least a decade now has been she's in the studio when all our she's a vocal coach so she's coaching our vocal she's been she's been around she's been part of the behind the scenes of hillsong worship and what we do for a hundred million years as long as longer than i've been around um and like with darlene back in the day yeah she has been faithful faithful faithful and for whatever reason this year god's just put his finger on her and so she what it is and so so she's getting caught with and i i was actually having a chat with one of our other team last week who was discouraged because she felt like she's not being used as much or whatever and i just said you can't you can't um get angry with people because people don't have that much power i said look at what god's doing with d it's not like people got together in a meeting and said let's bring let's let's bring up dina i'm like god did that like i think sometimes we give people and to be honest even leadership we give them too much blame and too much credit because people don't have that much power over your destiny like god's gonna do what he's gonna do god's gonna shut doors no man can open and open doors no man can shut and so um so i just i pray just in all of our navigating of these worlds and these teams same for you guys that god will have his way and that we would be um we would be leaders and stewards who um who say whatever you want god and um don't look at the appearance but look look beyond it um and um and and let god do what he's gonna do yeah i think that's so good and that's such a good encouragement to all of us that especially you know i never signed up to have to do that i never thought i signed up to like lead worship and love the church but in leadership and in running this thing as you guys are you know we're in a similar position you know having to make that decision is very tough but it's so true like just to break off any performance or anything off of you for the striving just stay in your lane do your best and just like how god found david out in the middle of nowhere when he wasn't in the lineup of the boys just do what you're doing and and like dee who is now 25 years later getting you know to do something um it wasn't saying that god was off the other 25 years or whatever it was that d was hidden um god will if you are supposed to be hidden you want to be hidden you don't want to be somewhere if god has not called you to be there it will kill you and um i love that that you know just do your best don't be angry at your leader just pray for your leader most importantly that the spirit of god would lead them and guide them with everyone on your team who to take off your team as much as who to put on your team um to not play favorites but to follow the spirit of god like brook said that's so good i think can i add to that as well always um i remember being i was in a um in one of our it was one of our staff meetings like maybe last year or something i remember i felt i felt i just felt very numb you know there was amazing stuff happening and i just i felt nothing which is fine because feelings aren't the litmus test of reality all right right like feelings aren't the test of what's real that's not we can't rely on that but so i was just really numb and i and i asked a lot about i was like why why am i like an ice block today like what's going on and um i felt like he said you're cynical and um and then i asked him more about that and um and i felt like he said the root of cynicism is disappointment with me so you're cynical about people because you're disappointed with me so let's talk about it and so i think um that's a really important thing to to to take that i've taken forward you know that whenever i that i feel like numbness is one of the outward symptoms of it but um not that we always have to feel things or whatever but i'm just saying um watch out for cynicism in your spirit because it is something that in church you'll have plenty of opportunity to indulge but it'll rip you off and um and so and so when you're cynical about people or cynical about leadership ask the lord if there's something that you're disappointed about and ask him and deal with it with him and get free yeah okay put your hand on your heart father right now we asked lord that you would just remove cynicism from our hearts that you'd remove that right now lord that you just clean our slates and god that we we just forgive anyone and and we ask that you've removed the numbness from us god just even just taking things for granted of what we get to do to serve you and loving people when people hurt us lord that you just heal us in our hearts right now in jesus name amen amen beautiful sozo inner healing big fan changed my life not a weirdo cause of it less of a weirdo i should say uh tell me about um who are some people who really inspire you um i am really are you gonna see kylie yeah yeah we all feel that we love kylie kylie's one of our golden gals um i'm i am floored by faithful people um one of the things i've loved the most um with this new hillsong worship record is we've gotten to work a lot with our choir and um and i know these people and i look and i look at some of the people in our choir and i know what they've walked through i know that that person there had a horrific marriage breakdown you know i know that that person over there um you know was was has been overlooked for a long time or dealing with all these sorts of issues and i look and i just they've kept turning up for 20 25 years they've they've stayed and um and those are the people that inspire me the most are the people who have gone season in season now i'm i'm i'm part of god's church and i'm going to build it whatever it looks like whether it be um seen or unseen they're just they're there for it and i um and i remember we were recording king of kings with the choir and just i looked at these people and at one point i just started weeping because i was like i want to be them do you know what i mean in in 20 years whatever it looks like like i want to be standing in that choir like one of those people with spirits like that because that's what really builds the church yeah i love that it was inspiring to have chris tomlin here yesterday because of that reason you know and even when he pulled that old song what what we were saying last night we fell down we fall down oh forget about it i almost fell down that's i i had tears in my eyes like that song has had so much meaning in my life and he's just served god and he served the church and he's joyful and man that's a testimony to me that for sure the same with faithfulness you're just like oh my goodness um when you were even younger who were some of your musical inspirations that you were like um i was obsessed with ellen menken don't know who that is so alan menken was my favorite from when i was probably like 10 years old so alan menken wrote the little mermaid soundtrack the pocahontas soundtrack okay the aladdin soundtrack it was just exactly that's alan menken so from uh from the age of probably 10 i knew his name and um and i would ask my mum to buy me the sheet music from all the disney movies and i would play it um and um so alan menken was like my melody hero and then um and then i don't know i grew up in it i grew up in the lower hut as i told you so it is how you imagine lower hut um so all my friends were into like bone thugs warren g yeah so that kind of thing spice girls there we go there we go spice girls um but then i kind of i then i started discovered like james taylor and um and kind of sing a song that loved marvin gaye um yeah so that kind of thing that's a bit weird i love no it's not weird at all though i do confess when i was like probably 12 i can't remember what it was like i did go and i went um into i caught the train into the city and i saved up my money i saved 10 and i wanted to buy two cd singles that were five dollars each like four nine each and so i went and bought um s club s club party and crazy by britney spears and i remember i went and took them up we do not endorse any of these uh necessarily that she's saying by the way so ask the holy spirit i went and i took them up to the counter and then i suddenly got really embarrassed i was like they're not for me and they were clearly for me i was a 12 year old girl but i was like even then i was like i knew that it was shameful so like i wanted to like cooler things but i actually was like loving s club seven s club party hey [Music] [Laughter] you were a melting pot of influence also wait i feel like i'm giving you guys nothing i'm so sorry i have i will have better content for you later it's perfect okay so deep question tell me this what do you feel you struggle with the most oh long list probably i know mine is self-loathing um okay um whatever well what do i struggle with the most for me yeah is patience oh i'm a very i'm not i'm not going to declare that over myself but i deal with being patient i need help with being patient that is my yeah my biggest and not i'll go while you're thinking i'll go deeper i also deal with wearing myself out doing things yes and so that sometimes the people in my life like my children my husband get the tired me so i've been learning to rest ouch and take better care of myself the past two years so that they don't get the worst tired version of me yeah so that's just some two just those are two of the top of my yeah that's very real i think that i probably do um there are definitely times when i give the best of myself to everybody else and the people that are closest to me get the leftovers um and that's not fair so that's probably the biggest thing is that um yeah i find it very easy to spend long hours um preparing and serving and everybody else which is important to pour out our lives like a drink offering but then i get home and i have no bandwidth for for the people that are closest to me so that's not cool so working on that yeah totally yeah how's that true stories true stories with brook and jen a big thing for me i taught it in the other class but the big thing for me to help that because anytime you have something in your life that you know is a weakness which knowing your weaknesses is so important amen being aware what are and maybe you're like i don't know what i struggle with ask the holy spirit he'll help you see it real quick what do i struggle with what's my weakness and knowing it and it'll be different different seasons but and then going okay i'm looking at this this is real holy spirit what do i do because he's never going to leave you abandoned he always has some way to help you to get through and to strengthen you for what you struggle with so don't feel like you have to be in the quicksand of your problem even if it's something you deal with ask the holy spirit how do i do that for me it was my health for me it was not winding down at seven o'clock at night i used to just want to be in bed and crash and my kids were like ready to party i had two teenagers i still do and i had to change my life to fit that so taking care of my health even on a next level became really important so that i would have the energy and also to rest to actually take time and by myself just to not have anybody talking to me or pulling on me so you're preaching to me right now i'm preaching to myself so we all have things we're working with okay um is there any other things that you i have a million questions but is there anything else that you are just passionate about or your jet lag jet lag i mean i'm jet lagged so anything could have happened so you're doing amazing bring it on you are a reader let's talk about this you are a little bookworm i do love it i wish i loved books it's a struggle for me to read my bible that's what's great um what are your favorite books other than the bibliotheca oh so many favorites okay this year i have been reading um a book that is blowing my socks off in the best way i'm a big fan of eugene peterson um i actually who wrote the message bible who yes he did many other things um but i actually filmed my birthday in december my husband and i went to montana for three days and um i went to the lake where he had a little cabin and wrote lots of the message and looked at the lake he looked at when he wrote about jesus walking on the water and the the mountains that he was looking at when he was translating the psalms and um and so that was very very special and powerful but eugene peterson has a book that cass gave me actually cass langton who's our global creative pastor at hillsong show one book called the pasta i highly recommend it i'm i if you're a pastor in this room that's awesome if you're not i'm i don't know if i'm a pastor i'm not sure you are am i i don't really i am i don't know yeah but whether you're a pastor or not i would recommend it's called the pastor you'll remember it by eugene peterson as one of the most refreshing and beautiful books about um about church and about the salvation community that god is making and forming um that is very very beautiful um oh so many good books um oh um i also finished this year um the brother andrew biography um he founded open doors um back in the day so brother what's it called god's smuggler god smuggler is the name of the book and brother andrew just incredible incredible stories about um about god behind the iron curtain and communist russia and all these amazing things i really love biographies oh best book ever um a book called seven women by eric mataxis i need to give this book to you i know you don't look books but it's very it's basically seven mini biographies um but i love both there is a seven men version as well i heard it's not as good but seven if you're a woman in here sorry true story um but but seven women love men and women equally yes we do so sorry i'm big um but seven women by eric mataks this is absolutely incredible i gave it to shelly giglio and she frothed i would love it it is frothy frothtown let me tell you um so many biographies i could i have a list but i'll stop there uh top three favorite translations of the bible oh gosh my fly's back oh niv yes i'm an niv person um probably more out of habit than anything else just because what i know niv um [Music] oh this is tough oh this is tough probably message second and then amplified and then that passion after that nice i'm right there with you yeah i'm right there with you and i have a message amplified i love that i am right there with you okay what are some of the funniest things your kids have said or done um well you know sometimes you like to try and well for me i didn't grow up in a christian home so i have no idea what a christian mum looks like or does like i don't know this is all new to me i have no idea so i'm like trying to get dylan my three-year-old into the bible and she's just not into it so i have a video of her like i'm trying to explain the bible to her and read it and she's like i don't love it she's like i don't love it i mean i was like but i love it she's like i don't love it mummy oh my god cool but then by contrast rooney who's a little one who just turned two i just showed jenna video before she um she loves the bible she calls it the jesus book and she flips through it and she's like god mad i love us and she's just the cutest cutest thing um so she is a savage but she does seem to be the one that's more leaning toward loving the word of god so there's hope yeah there's hope for her i also tried to when dylan could first talk she when she was like i don't know between one and two i tried to ask her i was like i had these you know visions of imagining her like seeing angels you know so i was like dylan do you ever see angels you know sometimes i confuse like kids and dogs you know how like their dogs can see things like i'm like what if like toddlers like dylan do you ever see angels she's like no angels she was very adamant that there was no angels but she did actually just a couple weeks ago she told me that and i don't know if it was a dream or whatever but she um we were just talking in the morning and she said oh mummy jesus came into my room last night and i was like really and i didn't want to make a big deal i was like oh that's cool and um and i go cool what did he do and she goes he gave me a kiss and then later on i and then i was like oh i didn't want to like harp on it so i kind of left it and then later i came back to it just to be sure that i hadn't made it up and i was like so dylan who did you say came into your room this morning she was like jesus and he gave me a kiss and i was like oh and did he say anything and she just goes he said he loved me that was it so i was like i am dead so i'd prefer that she hates angels but love jesus that's probably like a better order of preference we'll get there so that's fine okay so fun question we and you all are very known for passionately worshiping and dancing on the stage and i know i wish i had a pretty worship face i do not even know i'm like i just don't care yeah [Laughter] like the worst face ever i wish i could like hit the notes and be like and i'm just like we look like we're looking at the war terrifying thing ever i know that's all right there's higher things on the priority list than pretty worship faces yeah i just couldn't care less what i look like that's the fun part yeah um what are some of your favorite blooper moments in worship in music or falling over or all the crazy things that happen definitely the past few years it's been trying to control my pee yeah that is like a real thing that's like a real thing pads all day for everything listen and i had to say people like it's like if i'm not jumping in the last if i'm not jumping in like the last like jumpy songs it's not because i'm not into it because like i don't want the stage man i just have to deal with that you know um that's it guys that's all that we have time for today just kidding yeah how's that for real what was the question ladies what was the question again bloopers one of the funniest things i saw okay let me i wanna let me oh i have bad ones i know i want to hear them i have one of a favorite one is i saw the video of jd on a hoverboard in worship and there was a big crash and he ran into somebody did you ever see that one oh it's very good it's very good wait what where's dom where which one remember we were watching that what was it young and free no it was something jd's just just jamie has jd has really good ones so jd is part of hillsong worship hillsong united long hair in the cool like glasses where's waldo glasses yeah but he um i mean he broke our youth pastor's leg in worship like on a on a on a yeah on a tour like it must have been 10 years ago but the ironic thing is so they were doing a tour and um the pastor was like would come up in our pastor he's now a pastor of hillsong south africa phil dooley but um the ironic thing was that the tour was called the album was united we stand and like one of the first nights jd came and went to like jump and piggyback on phil but just hit it the wrong angle and his leg just snapped right in half and so and so for the rest of the tour he did his united we stand message like with a leg and a cast on a seat um so that was good judy is that jd also deliberately comes and farts in front of me in worship like a lot yes and then he just turns and looks at me with this little smile and then just runs off to the other side of the stage and i'm like you so ladies yeah jd has jd is one of my favorites of all of the hillsong shenanigan team he's so beautiful he's the best ever he's the best ever yeah he's on we did some sessions with him when they were here and he's just the best he's you can watch an incredible incredible person yeah okay so anything else any other good bloopers have you sang anything weird oh 100 yeah my weirdest times come though when i'm praying because i'm not trying to i'm praying to the lord obviously not praying to people so i'll just pray things that i would ordinarily pray to the lord but maybe unappropriate to pray in front of people which is a real thing and something that we all need to work on um but i've prayed for like the local highway like in the hills district lord i pray for everyone driving on the m2 right now like just like not appropriate like that's definitely something maybe it was or worship me maybe just don't like verbal diarrhea like your prayers yeah we just did it um last year um our pastor brian released a book called there is more and we did um two tours with him around that book and um it went to one of those two nights it was wonderful that's so nice sacramento oh yeah you were not there yeah no i'm sorry but i love you yeah um but um they he used to come and ask me to pray for the compassion people would invite people to sponsor children and then he stopped doing that because i was just praying once i suppress make the children like a tree maybe their roots go down deep and their branches flourish over the nations like i don't know and he was like no so a few nights and he did not ask me to pray anymore for the children yeah right every two yeah but two no we all have our lane maybe that wasn't you're late it's not mine one of the best ones here that is my favorite i've said so many weird things i've made up words it just happens but callie has one of my favorites and she was singing let heaven come but she messed up and she said let kevin come i hope a lot of kevin's got saved that day like all these kevin's just lined the stage there's been some really good bloopers sean floyd has the worst of all recently he meant to say let his name be on my lips but he said let his tongue be on my lips so he gets the worst i think so far that i've heard it's something like that right is that close yeah something gross like that so it's like well gosh and the second he said it our whole team was like oh god but you know when you risk you're gonna fall on your face sometimes uh the second blooper i won't tell you who it is a beloved female worship leader again with our topic was worshipping with all of her might on this stage and in khaki pants don't recommend that uh fully peter pants on this stage during worship in khakis now here's why she's my hero because she didn't stop and walk off the stage she grabbed a sweatshirt tied it around her waist and kept going and i was like i see you queen and you are my hero forever so pads jd actually back to jd jd also wants rich to ripped his crotch wide open like in worship so i just quickly ran off the stage and got some gaff tape and taped it up tape amazing i kind of kept going amazing have you ever tripped and fallen off a stage or oh 100 yeah yeah no breaking i've had many yeah well oh well this actually wasn't wish it wasn't a brook fraser tour but i dropped my guitar on my foot and broke it right in front of everybody oh my god it was an electric guitar that was heavy so just straight on my foot broke out live on stage sick fortunately it was like the second to last song so then i just stayed still and then at the end someone came and carried me off oh yeah right over here in about like 1999 i was dancing around wildly barefoot as i do and there back in the day we stapled our set list together yeah and of course no one left their set stapled so they would rip it and the staple would go god knows where well i found out where it went as it got jabbed right into my heel in the middle of worship well bethel are weird so everyone's like yes more lord no there's a staple in my heel pull the staple out blood it was a hot mess so yeah you can get away with anything here because they're just people think it's you know the lord so it was not it was not the lord it was terrible so talk to me about we only have a few more minutes left but marriage what has been the best part of marriage what has been the most difficult part of marriage what has been anything about your marriage journey that the best the toughest what you didn't know about yourself anything marriage-wise i mean marriage is a like a very accurate mirror right so amir it's not the mirror's fault if like you see something ugly looking back at you you know um so so it's probably been um the most accurate accurate way that i have seen just how to how terrible i am and how much i need jesus a lot and my husband is actually pretty i think 98 perfect um we've been married for 11 years and i am more obsessed with him every day i was just telling you we're kind of obsessed with each other so he's in an area right now in california he doesn't have phone reception and it's really weird for me because normally we talk like 15 to 25 times a day yeah just because we like each other so much very good one yeah i like him so much he's really funny and he has a beautiful turn of phrase the tough thing is his love language is acts of service which is not me like i'm words in touch so like tell me you love me and give me a hug and i'm like so loved um the acts of service one is really hard because it's like the acts of service one is kind of all of them but you never quite know you know so that's probably been so it means you're attracted a lot of times i hear to the opposite of what you are right and then you try to give love the way you like to receive love and that's not how yeah it is it should be easier bill and benny brian's mom and dad are cheaters because they both have the love language of gifts i feel like that's the easiest one right that's so easy so easy i know that's why that's why they're cooler than everyone else is they just figured it out but you're you're attracted to people who have the opposite of what you do and you're like let me love you like i like yeah no it's not working because that's the thing yeah but he's a very good one oh he's fair to go yes i wish he was here i know next time love you scotty i don't know what that was i went with it i don't know you guys i'm sorry i'm sorry that was jet lag that was jet lag um okay let's see let's pouring out a drink for him like what is happening i don't know sorry okay let's see um do you have any questions on the text message yes okay songs they wanted about songs i think that's the technical word for it right the text machine text yeah ipad also ipad will work songs favorite song you've ever written what is your favorite song you've ever written i don't know i don't know can't answer don't know oh come on i don't know yes you do i don't know [Laughter] um okay top couple and they're all they're like babies what kind of song worship song worship song oh maybe one of each one of a brook frasier song one of a broke kill song song so many brooks uh brook fraser song probably arithmetic is close to my heart i wrote it when i was it's beautiful 19 and i still mean every word today um that one and then worship song see album title i forget i love that album what album that that song's on what song oh sorry arithmetic yes oh what to do with daylight yes yes what to do i don't think you like that one that's not that i like that song oh you like that song yeah yeah yeah you'll find it on the bottom i'm wearing very strange pants and yeah when i first was signed to sony and people started giving me free things i was like this is awesome but i didn't necessarily care that the free things went together so i would wear like horrible puma shoes with like these weird pants and like belts and like like earrings that were zips and stuff like i think that was it was not good you guys but but yeah it was not good it other people started wearing the same thing though because they thought that you know i don't think they did i think they just thought i was scott said when he first met me the way i dressed was repulsive which is 100 accurate because i just bought all the free stuff i didn't care if it went together anyway becomes a style icon by just wearing all the free stuff okay just amazing no uh favorite song favorite song i don't know i know like they're all like babies and you can't pick a favorite but why do you love okay then i'll ask you what unless you have an answer yeah okay so beautiful name yeah it's one of my favorites of all time um tell me the song story the song story is so ben fielding i also wrote that song um he is one of my well his wife is one of my best friends in the whole world and they are our dear dear friends and ben and i had tried to write together for many years and it just never worked and we've even tried to write since and it just has never worked i know so weird right um but yeah you're both two of the most prolific songwriters in our generation but that's interesting interesting but i feel like we're also very different in the way we write so um i don't know i think that yeah that song was really the kindness of god and um and it just it just i don't really have a really cool story it just it just happened we got together we prayed we were writing a few things and that was one of the things and then i just i remember is that scotty and ben hastings actually were writing in another room at church and we had written most of the song and we asked them to come in because we were choosing between the two bridges um and then we're like actually it should just be one bridge why do we have to split it up and um i just remember they had kind of a and then scotty said that they walked out of the room and he turned to hastings and said whatever song we're writing right now it's not that song and um yeah but we really i mean we really had no i really and i say that with all the syria had no idea what god was going to do with that we just felt like it was a song that might that our church might enjoy on the weekends that would be like a nice song three we never foresaw any of it um i think it was just the whole thing is just god we didn't particularly push the song we didn't do anything it just had a um had a kind of ground swell all its own and god did what he wanted to do and and i just feel grateful to to be any kind of part of it yeah that's such an amazing song we talked earlier about how god puts a song on like a glove sometimes and just sends it around the whole world like almost like you're saying like how god is on people it's like he almost chooses these songs to just be this um beautiful instrument of his of who he is and that song was what i love about you guys and what you do is you are so grounded in the word of god and your songs always reflect the message of the cross always i love that like i love that people can come into church from anywhere and they're gonna hear the message of the gospel in your setlist and i think that's so vitally important because i think what as musicians you can get caught up in the cool song or the trendy song or and and i just think it's so beautiful that we stay connected to ministering to people who are coming in these doors in our setlist with a message of the gospel and you guys so beautifully do that in your songs you you know even so will i which is like the song that i think has the most words i've ever heard in a song ever in my life ben hastings who she was talking about wrote that song he's like stunning but um again it just it always goes back to the main thing and i think that's so beautiful will you give it up for my friend brooke fraser ledger thanks guys you
