An Idiot's Skills/Abilities Guide to DRAGOON | FFXIV

hello so you just started Final Fantasy 14. you've created your Warrior light and now you're stuck on picking a job you saw how dragoons love to tank the floor and you think to yourself I want to do that see it became a Dragoon Dragoon is my favorite manly DPS that uses a lance they have some of the coolest abilities in the game and personally the most smooth rotation they also got some really cool Buffs that they can give out to the party so let's take a look let's start with your main combo there's true thrust into vorpal thrust then into full thrust your other combo is true thrust into disembowel which gives a 10 personal damage buff called power surge for 30 seconds then into chaos thrust which has a rear positional and applies a 24 second damage overtime to your target at level 56 you'll learn Fang and Claw which you can use after full thrust and has a flank positional then at level 58 you'll learn Wheeling thrust which you can use after chaos thrust and has a rear positional this essentially makes both both combos have a fourth part to them however at level 64 you'll be able to use Wheeling thrust after Fang and Claw and Fang and Claw after Wheeling thrust this makes both combos have five parts at level 76 when you execute one of the combos to completion true thrust will change to ride and thrust your main goal in any encounter is to use these combos back to back starting with the disembowel combo to get power surge and Chaos thrust supplied then going into your full thrust combo after you learn ride and thrust the combo essentially becomes infinite and you'll keep going back and forth making it super smooth and easy your AOE combo will consist of Doom Spike into Sonic thrust then into Corp and tormund at level 82 you'll learn draconi and fury which you can use after korth and tormund both ride and thrust and Draconian Fury have an effect at level 90. well they'll give you one first mine's focus when you have two first Minds Focus you can use worm wind thrust which is a strong line AOE attack you also have have your ranged attack piercing Talon jump will make you jump to the enemy and then return to your previous position at level 60 you'll learn gear skogle which is a line ewe attack at level 68 whenever you use jump you can use Mirage dive at level 70 whenever you use barrage dive it'll add one eye to your dragon gauge when you have two eyes on your dragon Gage and you just gear skull gold you'll go into life of the Dragon life of the Dragon will initially only be 20 seconds long but will be increased to 30 seconds at level 78. during life phase gear skogle will change to the Strand which is stronger and has a 10 second cooldown allowing you to use it two or three times at level 80 during life phase you can use star diver which is one of the flashiest moves in the game and is really really strong star diver is also a gap closer dragoons also have other jumps as well spine shatter dive is a single target jump that you get a second charge of at level 84. dragon fire dive is another jump that'll you AOE damage to all nearby enemies on the target you jump to elusive jump will make you backflip 15 yams behind you make sure to keep this in mind you will always jump backwards based on where your character is facing you can however turn your back on the location you want to go and then use a lucid jump to Gap close there life surge will guarantee your next weapon skill to be a critical hit it also has a lifesteal effect meaning you'll be healed slightly based on the amount of damage you did you'll gain a second charge on life surge at level 88 you should primarily use live surge before using full thrust as that is your strongest weapon skill you could also use live search on the fifth part of either combo as it does as much damage as an unbuffed full thrust Lance charge will increase your damage dealt by 10 percent for 20 seconds battle latony will increase the critical hit rate of yourself and nearby party members by 10 for 15 seconds Dragon sight will give you a 10 damage buff and another party member that you turn Target a five percent damage buff both of these last for 20 seconds there is a priority system for who to give Your Dragon sight to however you should mainly give it to a fella melee DPS so that basically sums up your skills and abilities but now let's talk about your opener and rotation this is the standard level 90 opener for a Dragoon you start with your pot after the first true thrust then using Lance charge and dragon sight after disembowel and then battle litany and a spine shatter dive after chaotic spring these three moves of your opener set up all your Buffs in order to line up with the two minute burst window after Wheeling thrust you will use gear skogel and life surge in order to buff your next banging claw then after that Fang and Claw you want to use high jump and the Mirage shive that comes up immediately after use Dragonfire dive after the ride and thrust another spine shatter dive in life surge after vorpal thrust in order to buff Heaven's thrust then proceed with the rest of the combo as normal but making sure you use worm wind thrust right after you get it from using ride and thrust after the opener your rotation is basically set up your two minutes will line up properly in most fights and your life phase will be delayed so it is always under either Lance charge or your two minute Buffs you'll proceed with doing your combo Loop and pressing your off globals as they come up the only exception is spine shatter dive you can optimize damage by holding the extra charge or spine shatter dive then using both of them during your two minute burst and finally a quick warning when weaving your off globals be careful of Animation lock this is very dependent on PING but your jumps can only have one other off Global be weaved after star diver is the exception as its animation lock is much longer so try not to weave after using star diver but yeah
