60% of men do not wash their hands after visiting the toilet but for 35 year old pharmacy supervisor amma clearly himself before cleaning his home is all part of his daily ritual my cleaning routine is starts with within myself first washing my face I practically do it very often could be up to 20 times a day amar spends up to four hours a day keeping his two bedroom house in perfect order it's like a meditation to me it makes me feel happy wiping off negativity and bringing some positive changes in my house although not OCD diagnosed Amma who moved to the UK from India two years ago will do anything to keep his home germ-free I'm trying to get all the germs with the SAP steamer so with the high esteem I believe all the germs gonna get killed for 35 year old Amma the kitchen is his sanctuary and he spends most of his time cleaning it in past I have spent up to nine hours cleaning in my kitchen you can spend even more than that and get to this so much to do here now you can see the little bit dirt on this not much because I do clean it and regular and Amma has a very hands-on approach to cleaning I usually don't wear gloves I like doing it with my hands like that naked because then I can actually feel that coming off the things then when I put my hands on it it feels really great because all fresh and crisp and it smells so good you can smell that also it's amazing Amar's cleaning habits only started when he moved to the UK two years ago Emrys Keaney was you know fantastic now it's got a lot worse Unitas cotton buds around the hubs and you know chopsticks down the drain and it is getting ridiculous I think he needs to just calm down on the cleaning side and spend more time as a family Amma is keen to challenge himself and help someone by lending his cleaning skills to a home that really deserves it it's bit monotonous for me I'm cleaning things which I think already cleaned I don't want to spend that much time in cleaning but I have to one give me peace until I clean amar has traveled over 80 miles to broccoli in southeast London [Music] 66 year old mother of three Silvia has lived in a two bedroom flat in southeast London for over 25 years shoes find one local poet Sylvia can't resist a charity shop or a good skin and it's been three years since she's last thrown anything else I think there's beauty surround yourself with stuff and color I'm a horror of just why well Tracy a mingkun said in a mine bed for millions to snatch in snatch a then a chorus and installation for Sylvia cleaning isn't a priority in her life I don't enjoy cleaning they microwave that needs to be cleaned out something got really Sylvia's longtime friend Tracy rarely comes to visit because of the mess this floor needs cleaning reaching it's just disheartening for me she's one of my best friends and I'd like to be able to come here and feel comfortable and enjoy Sylvie's company in a nice environment I know it's so much and I know in fact I should clear space in order to clear my mind so to speak I just find it difficult to do so what I want is to be able to have space be able to invite people up here not feel ashamed and be hygienic within reason [Music] don't go through oh my god so much stuff there's no room of oxygen don't there's no light god this is too much there's a big layer of dust everywhere and the floor I can't see any one inch of tile which is not - like 30 or something this is a shot wait till you see the kitchen oh my god it's really bad this palette is really really bad as well these sponges they have actually discolored this could be such a big source of germs I can't tell you right now so this is my sort bedroom at the walls painted green and I like to keep green things in this room do you sleep in here yeah it's not in this where's your bed that's it do you mind if I just have a look yeah what about this so what you know whatever was in trance old friend I know she was in here your clothes or paperwork everything's coyote this is my bathroom it's not ladies room in the house smell in here Silvia I can still see a lot of stains and marks it's smelling so much are you okay back home I spent like a couple of hours just to pick small little fumes off the floor and here not even one tile is clean this is something any human can't live in if I have to do the same thing here it might take me a month just to clean the floor my way is so dirty with a four day cleaner head Mor Murray's keen to show Silvia what he considers a clean home this is my living room like you can see every minutes really what I clean it twice a day that's my kitchen that's where I wash my dishes yes it's all white and clean so to you the color white bleach represents clean yeah I like light colors to me a white environment like that represents sterility and not living and not being there basically I wouldn't want it for myself I would feel like I was in a laboratory being experiment you don't not elaborate or something to use your cooker yeah you cook right it looks as though not quite used yeah I spend Lord of my time in kitchen because that's like a temple to me right but maximum time which I've spent so far my kitchen cleaning is nine hours non-stop you don't think that six train ride is extremely well I have to fit it all in nice yeah I ever hectic square is a few um not philosophy is busy doing nothing I wonder what sort of life he is so he's playing Marines I have no idea how I'm gonna start from where to start and what is my strategy I can't think straight right now okay I absolutely love cleaning even as a child I would clean people's houses if I thought it was 30 40 year old estate agent Michelle who's not OCD diagnosed spends up to 26 hours a week cleaning a three-bedroom house in Kent when I'm not at work I could easily spend six seven hours cleaning I love things to shine so much that I constantly have a cloth in my hand wherever I go in the house Michelle leaves nothing to chance in the battle against bacteria hygiene is really really important to me in my home so are forever disinfect my remote controls my telephones my light switches this is disgusting is actually dirt in here that's really annoyed me actually when I clean my toilet I like to put all bleach in the toilet and then I scrub around the toilet with the toothbrush and then I completely dispose of the toothbrush immediately that's disgusting for Michelle's husband of 6 years Kevin her cleaning is a mixed blessing it do I live in a clean house but sometimes I've actually just sit down and let's just love as a family and it's not just Michelle's husband who has to maintain a high standards well Duncan I was really good what you think you got out of 10 6 I reckon I can give that a 7 I wish I didn't have to keep my bedroom so tidy high five sometimes it just gets on my nerves hoping to become more relaxed about her housekeeping Michelle is leaving her hygiene at home to help someone who is decidedly different when it comes to cleaning I'd like to feel a little less regimented in my surroundings and to feel that I can relax if somebody does put one thing slightly out of place michelle has travelled over 280 miles to the Cornish town of Millbrook to help someone with a very different approach to housekeeping the view is just spectacular the exterior of this house actually looks okay it looks fine grass is cut nice flowers don't judge a book by its cover I don't know what's lurking behind that door [Music] 50 year-old Suzanne has lived in a two bedroom flat in Millbrook for the past 18 years with a cat Mitzi oh what's in here unfortunately Sue's love of shopping has taken over a home I have very little idea what's in this room it kind of got rather full I think those are things I bought in here probably presents for people somehow they didn't get them but there's always this year or next year in here I have the most beautiful dining table but unfortunately everything seems to have got piled on top of it and not taken off oh dear don't want to trod on there about heigh-ho and that's like to buy everything and anything I say I'm sure not sure sometimes what I want to buy but I've obviously bought it Oh what an anomaly Oh where's my car it gets better and better Oh one ladylike this is my living room unfortunately due to all this mess I have had a few accidents I have broken toes and cut myself or got a bruise on my size and walking in the door or bumping into the furniture one person who is desperate for suitor changes mom June who lives in the flat downstairs I don't say - so as a joke that if you're getting me more stuff and I sit down one day I'd be buried and you just won't find me again or we won't even find the cat but Suzanne was not always this messy with me when I was 12 years old I was obsessive about cleaning beds changed nearly every other day I was spotless it was only after an accident that things changed she was such a tidy person and accident changed the way she thought [Music] just can't seem to get on top of it I want to but can't oh she's been through a lot and I would like her to get the help now to get back on track to where she was I've got a couple of friends but he wants to come round to a place like this I need to sort it I want to sort it [Music] Michelle thank you I mean okay Wow because sorry I've never seen so much so it's not that bad this would drive me mad it's always like this it's been worse it's my kitchen and I know it's quite a lot of stuff in here how do you cook I don't cook are you telling every night no you probably know what you have in next Monday your first day yeah I do it so yeah how sad is that no I think but what didn't you want to be able to use your cooker wouldn't you now and then think oh I know I'll see the point go at me every day well you might as well get rid of it then no this is just something else I mean this is like a different level just clothes I mean just clothes it's not just clothes I can see a light bulb what this is like a jumble sale I don't have to get some water in a minute and an antihistamine for the best-behaved no honestly oh my god you could never use this room where's quite a lot in there I know he's a little salt out a little salt out how do you get you know how long has it been so since you've actually sat here and had dinner last about dinner in here was seven years ago I mean this is just a waste of room it might as well not be here what is it you do for a living so I'm a cleaner few places a few times a week so you need you to clean up oh why now come and see me in my home you know you went in there would you employ her as a cleaner I believe her I'm a very good one I've not had any complaints before Michele begins her clean she wants to show Suzanne the standard she keeps at her home this is my kitchen there's nothing in it shows home I know that's my bathroom there's a toilet paper well the reason that there's no toilet paper is because I've got three so I restrict them from using that one mad that's my son's room because I want to teach the children that it's important to keep things nice and look after them get them to make their beds and then I give them marks out of 10 hey box there kiddies that's just wicked it's not I think it's fun because it's a game because it all allowed to play anything else in the room that's my bedroom see that line down the middle yes side in your side never the twain shall meet my home is like my castle it's a sure home I love everything to be color-coordinated and March really just to be seen not to be used no food gets cooked here as you can see there's no cooker the cakes are fake sweet surreal but they don't get it my couch is like a shore couch I hear anybody sitting on there and touching it I don't even like sit on it thirty-five-year-old former beauty queen Kelly spends up to 30 hours a week keeping her two-bedroom house to show home standards everything's got to be super clean and sanitized Tom there's nothing Kelly hates more in a home than germs the South Lawn makes everything like 99.9% free of bacteria my biggest fear is catching like a baller Oh any other deadly illness it just freaks me out and Kelly has a fail-safe method of keeping her sink germ-free an average el clima sink about five times a day and I'll use a at least six different products to clean it I probably spend about 160 pounds a month and clean and stuff diagnosed with OCD 10 years ago Kelly has tried unsuccessfully to control her condition I've been to therapy before I've tried to conquer it myself it affects you so much in people that don't have OCD have no idea what it's like to live with when it comes to ridding her home of dust and germs who when I do about two three times a day there's no lens that Kelly won't go to I who bare my cushions my curtains even myself when I'm doing room to room I get bits all over especially on my feet so I've got a shoot myself wanted to challenge her OCD tendencies Kelly is packing up her cleaning products to help someone who doesn't prioritize cleaning their own I believe that it's going to be good for me because I'm gonna be conquering my fears at the same time was helping somebody else's with theirs [Music] Kelly has left her color-coded home and traveled over 250 miles to the seaside town of Great Yarmouth I'm just really anxious about going in I'm gonna put gloves on my hand and protectors on my feet to go in the house cuz I have no idea what its gonna be like [Music] everything just gets chucked tubby tables which I crafted me outright 65 year old retired chef Ken has lived in his two-bedroom council house in Great Yarmouth for nearly 30 years and currently shares it with his cat Tyson I have to clean up after the cat which I don't my really looks and crappies like that we're just living you don't think about then things when you've played around this is better what a slate everything just gets dumped in here there's a very dirty laundry which I've got round to doing here I would say I'm very lazy definitely failed very lazy since Ken's wife died several years ago cleaning hasn't been the top of his priorities was a picture over it when he photographed the last time I got a proper claim was five years ago just before my wife's funeral because all our relatives were coming down and Ken's friend of three years Brian would look to see him change his ways I think it's absolutely filthy get rid of that bloody fryer well we couldn't cook me chips in I probably visit more often if Ken added cleaner environment and they'd certainly be less assault on my sense of smell even though most people's toilets are a stone's throw away from their showers 42% of people admits it urinating while standing under one but for 30 year-old crystal nothing makes it down the plughole although she Hoover's and polishes it every day her shower is for exhibition oh we don't Christel spends five hours a day keeping a two bedroom London apartment spotless when I'm cleaning after time the cleans it's like a military operation I need to get it done and nothing's clean unless it smells good enough to eat smell is very important it's it's the most important thing the smell of Apple is delicious I just love it although she's not OCD diagnose crystal starts her daily cleaning routine at 5:00 a.m. there's always something to do we've got mirrors flashbacks I'm polishing that I'd say in the 50s 50 times a day on top of a cleaning list are her bed sheets which are washed and ironed every day once it comes out of the dryer it's still a little bit crinkly I think everyone should iron machine posi crystal has an eight month-old son with her partner of two years Oh messy boy but worries that her obsessive cleaning will ruin her plans for a big wedding I feel like if anyone is neglecting it maybe my partner I'd like to get married but if I'm constantly choosing cleaning over spending time with somebody why would they want to marry me Christel will be heading north to meet someone with very different priorities when it comes to cleanliness I'm pretty direct I will speak my mind if I feel like something is not right then I'll just let them know leaving her crystal clean apartment she's travelled 140 miles to
