I am out in the Allegheny National Forest and more precisely in the Allegheny reservoir call for 80% chance of rain every day this week and I'm kind of tired of running from the rain so I think I'm just going to deal with I'm going over to the Morison campground from the Elijah boat ramp and it's relatively close so the weather does turn Kasane severe lightning rings like that I can I can tell if I need to if this weather changes maybe I'll leave up the wake paddle up to another camp crack and had noticed it camp right now these are first come first serve so I don't know I don't know what I'm going to find so hopefully I find something like this campground otherwise I'm actually looking in this way you can make up the sky maybe it's all just washed out who knows either way it looks the same it's just clouds with all this so I'm going paddle all in here for a little bit so if I can't find myself a knife can't spot brings up my hammock tied myself some lunch and decide well I'm going to do for now all right so found myself for a nice camping spot here campsite number eight man number eight it's got spot for the hammock right here by the water soluble 30 feet away got some protection from the weather from the trees and there's nobody right next to me least yet there's kelp people in this campsite there's one guy Wade out the other end and maybe two or three campsites down there's a family down there but not so bad I am hungry though so I gotta make myself some food I want to get everything set up and ready so I had shelter in case the rain came also I've got my DIY hammock set up they're a little lopsided but there's not really a flat spot so the hammocks a little flatter than what that looks but I'm okay with it I have to readjust it but least I got shelter if it rains I can go too much in the hammocks up ever than that before yeah going to make some dehydrated chili that I made and that the weather holds off and I get in the kayak and paddle around I did bring my rain jacket I brought my spray skirt for the hammock just in case the weather turned I guys see if I can scrounge up from some firewood not a whole lot of wood laying around here although it's not really cold so I'm not too worried about having a fire for warmth but it has something later on alright time to make some food [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Laughter] [Music] like a little kayaking it and check it out the whole stream and start hearing thunder all part of the adventure don't think that's going to miss us you can see the humidity in here now and look down there and it's not so bad but you look up that way find out - clouds are moving that's kayak all buttoned up on top of the whole ledge here get the cover on it start sorry a bit like hammock hangout [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] and Vonda finally back that was the first time I've ever been there so I have knew no idea this isn't turning out at all is it and completely exactly so if you're planning a trip out here to the Allegheny National Forest and you think about doing a kayak camp out here in a reservoir like I am it's beautiful especially now that it's not raining and the sun's out and got the sunset going here but there's some things you should know I watched a few videos before I came out here and what I saw was guys well wishing to see guys but what I saw was people coming out finding a spot along Shore setting up camp finding a primitive campsite setting up and calling it a night the National Park Service or the National Forest Service doesn't hop once you're doing it they have a very strict 1,500 foot perimeter around the reservoir 1,500 feet long ways now I don't know if you can hear the car it's over coming up the longhouse route here but some of these roads you can't camp within 1500 feet of that road so that road is within 1,500 feet and then you guys will 1,500 feet pass that to a primitive camp or what they call dispersed camping you're not going to port eyes your kayak up there that would be up in the air sighs well here you have to like three-quarters of a mile you have to go in there's probably another Road on the other side the only place you're allowed to camp around the reservoir is in designated spots like where I am there's four or five of these boat access only campgrounds that have first-come first-serve sites there's no reservations on them and I was able to get a pretty nice sight pretty happy with it walked around the other side clean not a lot of them had trees so I got lucky to find that one and then there's some recreation areas around the lake as well or I might run the reservoir that have reservable sites and some first come first serve so there's a lot of options but if they they find you out here camping we're not supposed to they can throw you out they can find you and who knows well I don't know if they can impound your boat I don't know I don't know so probably not worth getting caught doing that so I'll stay in my sight the other tip I would give anybody is bring a GPS I did I made a mistake once before where I didn't pay attention where is going was my kayaking I was down in Florida was listening to dolphins trying to see if I could see them at night their kayak and all or favorite I was kayaking anyway they were all around a boat and I was just listening to him preaching actually hear their sonar in the bottom of my boat and I got washed out into the Mosquito Lagoon and had no idea where I was so I was lucky enough I had my GPS with me I play playing at my campsite and I started paddling back my flashlight died and a headlamp on that died I was always hitting oyster beds because the tide was going out and at one point I was just pulled off and found an empty campsite and just slept on the ground because I didn't know if it's gonna be I'll find my campsite but I went up making it back but ever since then I made sure I always have my GPS with me when I'm out here especially going to a night kayak it's really easy to lose your sight then you can't see it let's go check out this spot you got this fog behind me sitting over the engine amount in here watching the sunset look a trick a lot of fun so far try to make it practically the fog and watch the sunset so patting on backage luckily it's a big leak lovely it's a reservoir big body of water [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so good morning haven't try this again I tried doing this before I had my breakfast in my coffee anguses wasn't working so nice night last night a little bit of rain it's hard to tell that was just come off the trees if you're actually rained but really peaceful it's kind of hoping here some loons I hear that every once awhile to get loons out here but no lunar II nothing yet anyway looks like it's going to be a little bit nicer day today it's kind of foggy but we're a can't see sky if there's clouds but it's some not horrible so I'm gonna pack up the kayak with a meal for lunch my rain gear just in case and go paddle around a little bit and see what we got going on put it up excuse me didn't need to level off like hammock a little bit I showed it yesterday I should hang up a little bit too much so I kept on sliding slide him down a little bit but it wasn't I've had about quarter five listen to some thunder way off in the distance listen all the birds start to wake up and it was about ready get out of the hammock and all the mosquitoes woke up and it was so loud it sounds like someone handling a generator or a like a transformer or something sitting right next to the hammock it was insane so I stayed in the hammock for a little foam to let it dissipate it and they flew off ever wherever they are I haven't really good time so far this isn't quite as remote as hoping was going to be there's a lot of lot of boots and for the middle of the week there's a lot of people up I put in glad to see people out enjoying themselves and you know having a good time and being respectful which is huge so just let it off the hammock a little bit one of the things I want to add to my tarp are some timeouts so I can do this and I've been kind of putting it off and I'm kind of glad I brought these tarp grabbers with me because I was able to create the door here help keep any rain that was blown in these are really doing well makes me really I'm definitely going to add some more tie on to this probably here there may be one in the middle on both sides right here I've got enough from a pitchout on that side but um I had to pull down tighter you pull out that set on [Applause] [Music] so it's raining it's hard that may or may not be coming out that is coming down in sheets that is crazy try to see try stay drunk people on it's just keeps getting worse clean it sucks they got a past ran for my car smart get that kid oh geez back in I can't even go hiding my car so Russell cliff is red-winged blackbirds and they're pulling something out of cracks and dropping it in the water I want you do this rain doesn't appear to stop but has led up quite a bit less than that [Music] I'm not going to get any dryer sitting on the campsite I'm already a little wet so I don't get panic get that wet not I know so it's that stain a boat can't this right across the river that's not it I would come up from here and check out this code and this goes back aways I like a little protection from the rain under these trees I know some of you might be watching this and wondering how dangerous it is right now to be out in this weather under water I am like listening very closely for Thunder watching for any signs of lightning and it just appears to be Wayne I've seen no signs of lightning or thunder yesterday I heard some and I need without the water I don't want to mess around slight nning so rains rain like it way or well yeah as soon as I hear thunder even distance under a heading back this will give you a really good idea of how much rain we've just got this is all runoff it's just all mud [Music] even I give what the wind was like as our kayak in photography the little tent stakes got pulled right out the clip here actually popped off in the tarp it's still nylon with a pretty good shot from that be okay so see if there's a leopard so even though my hammock stayed dry and I really wanted to stay the weather just did not cooperate with severe thunderstorms forecast for the rest of that day and holiday in fact I didn't have enough spare clothes to stay dry through all that high design packable need the plan was to drive over to Bradford which is about 25 minutes may have our way and write a hotel room and if the weather broke and backed out there has water system where kayaking maybe get a sight for another night so as luck would have it there's a liam town it was having a huge 20th anniversary or 25th anniversary and then there was another event Joel in basically every hotel room came in the town so I decide to call the trip at home and man what a trip it was and there was only two days but I was so we will record a heading back out to the young age and seeing something prophetic in also looking forward to going somewhere a little more room future so thanks for watching if you liked the video subscribe like your share and again as always thanks for watching [Music]
