hello there it is time to rank the star wars movies and shows from the worst to the best in one massive ranking it's been a couple years since i've done this and since then we have had the bad batch we've had the book of boba fett we've had star wars visions and of course we now have obi-wan kenobi all wrapped up and done and i have thoughts about obi-wan that i can't wait to get to so yeah it's time to update the rankings and go in a hell of a lot more than i have previously now this of course is just all my opinion i know death threats are inevitable we're talking about star wars here but just try to be a decent human being in the comments below and also let me know your rankings in those comments and just before we dive into it owner sabre are once again running 20 off their entire lightsaber range from now until the end of the month they've got a massive range of some really cool designs and you will receive a free display stand for your lightsaber upon purchase so if you do want to pick one up all the links to that will be in the description below it really does help out the channel it helps them out it's just everybody wins but the star wars movies and shows together ranked from worst to best let's go so kicking things off at number 20 is star wars resistance moving on and the number 19 is star wars visions there are two things in this world that i hate people who think pineapple doesn't belong on pizza and anime i'm sorry to all the anime lovers that end up watching this video but anime just is not for me and you can dress it up in star wars all you like but it just still wasn't it i watched visions for the sake of this video that's the dedication that i have and visions you know it's got some cool ideas and all but i'm sorry man i just can't do anime so i feel like i can't objectively criticize this series if it's any consolation i liked it more than resistance so i'll leave it here number 18 the clone wars movie we all know it we all think it's a little bit bad the clone wars movie i mean it's so clear looking back at it now that they just didn't have that winning formula for the clone wars yet the movie is so subpar compared to the show like the animation is really janky ahsoka is very annoying my only positive for this movie is without it we wouldn't have the clone wars show like it is and therefore probably wouldn't have guys like dave filoni running a lot of star wars right now but the clone wars movie itself it's a bit of an l number 17 the rise of skywalker the rise of skywalker oh my god i have not had such a drastic shift of opinion on a star wars movie ever when the rise of skywalker came out i think i ranked it at about number four in my rankings or something and i wish i could have slapped myself in the face for that it's one of the main reasons i wanted to update my rankings because i still get comments on that video every single day of people just absolutely tearing shreds off me for it and you know what fair enough because the rise of skywalker i hate this movie and everything that it stands for granted there are a few things in here that i do like but the way disney collapsed like wet paper after the last jedi backlash and just tried to fan service their way through to a billion dollars was just pathetic the abandonment of any decent character setup cheap answers to big questions ending the saga on one of the worst scenes in the saga just so much about it is just so wrong bringing back palpatine for example cool idea terrible execution but the opening scene with carlo and palpatine you know it looks great and i love the tone and all but the reason for bringing palpatine back being explained in one line in revenge of the sith but not actually telling us how it happened was pretty pathetic like i love papa pops a lot but i hate why he's in this movie also finn granted this character began to get wasted when his sacrifice was cut off by one of the worst characters in the saga in the last jedi but it just continued to go nowhere in this movie and it's no wonder that john boyega got so angry with how finn was handled because his character was a really cool character at the start and had a lot of potential but all of it just went absolutely nowhere now this is the finale of the skywalker saga yet it leaves just as many questions as it answers how did palpatine come back what was finn trying to tell rey did jj abrams hit too many death sticks on set so many questions and the answers that we actually did get i don't know man like rey being a palpatine like that's fine but having themes of embracing who you are and then saying right at the end that she's ray skywalker like that just doesn't make any sense it's almost like the entire script for the rise of skywalker the you know the conclusion of the skywalker saga was just written up in 90 minutes by jj abrams when he was absolutely off his chops at 4am but anyway i've crapped on this movie long enough i did like some things in it though and i do want to get to that like i said i enjoyed the opening scene with kylo and palpatine on hexagonal i thought the diet in the force idea was a great idea and their fight on kojimi was visually really interesting and babu frick is an absolute chad and you know kylo's redemption was pretty good kylo is the one thing in this trilogy and i've i'm going to say it a few times in this video that i actually like the whole way through i like how in the force awakens him killing han was you know his commitment to the dark and snoke and here it mirrors it and this time it's his commitment to the light like i thought that was really great and you know the ben solo scenes where we see nuances of han in how kylo acts in this movie i did like that like kylo good everything else bad basically sums up the rise of skywalker for me number 16 the bad batch the bad batch is an interesting one for me as it's a clone wars spin-off but it's obviously nowhere near as good as the clone wars but it's not bad it just it just never really pulled me in at all don't get me wrong i like the bad batch characters i love hunter and i love wrecker and i think omega was fine and you know seeing cad bane pop up is of course always going to be cool and i also thought the opening order 66 sequence was great but i just think this is a story that didn't really need to be told like it's fine the characters are quirky and fun but when season two was announced i was like okay sure but bad batch is kind of like solo for me it's perfectly fine but it's just there number 15 solo a star wars story look at the end of the day did solo need to be made no does that mean it's bad no solo is just a fun disposable take it or leave it star wars movie that's it it doesn't do anything horribly wrong it doesn't really excel at anything either in my opinion it just never fully justified its own existence at least for me alden ehrenreich i thought he'd done a great job in an impossible role donald glover on the other hand he was great as lando like really good and l3 lando's droid companion was just like the biggest budget k2so i've ever seen emilia clarke's kira i liked her they'd done something mildly interesting with her she wasn't just generic love interest which i thought was good but i know this movie has stuff that we could really dive into but to be honest i just don't really care to solo is just it's fine it exists it's not great it's not terrible it's just there number 14 the book of boba fett the book of boba fett is in my opinion a very mid show because if you take the mandalorian season 2.5 elements out of the show it's not very good like at all this show could have been a clint eastwood spaghetti western which would have suited boba so perfectly but they turned him into a pushover that chases droids around the kitchen and has his helmet off all the time even tomorrow morrison said yeah this boba fett ain't it dude like helmets off way too much and the character work for boba just makes absolutely no sense he is completely overshadowed by every single character around him like the vespa gang like don't even get me started on that but the mandalorian episodes of this series are incredibly good like almost better than what we get in the mandalorian kind of good and boba fett isn't really in any of those episodes he's not in one of them entirely and in the other he just doesn't talk conveniently those were the best episodes of the show mando literally came in and hijacked boba fett's show and was the only thing that was good about it i'm kind of bummed that they didn't just have this stuff in mando season three as it's pretty important to the mando show but they seem to really want to tie these shows together so i guess that's why they did it or they realized that this boba fett script was just not good and tried to bring mando in to save it if that's the case then you know i guess job done because i actually don't mind the series because of it but i will say seeing cad bane come back was amazing to see as a big clone wars fan this was a real fan service pleasing kind of moment i just wish they didn't kill him off like this version of boba fett in this show there is no way in hell you can tell me that this version of boba fett can kill cad bane if you know anything about cat bane this would have probably not sat well with you as well but yeah boba fett i think it's just a mid show and just highlighted why mando is clear the better of the two characters number 13 star wars rebels star wars rebels i have mixed feelings about i think it's not as good as the clone wars but it definitely has its moments and that's the thing i find consistent with rebels is it's one of those shows that gets carried on its big moments like the vader and ahsoka jewel maul and kenobi literally anything thrawn says or does and the fleshing out of the inquisitors but i feel like rebels has a lot of boring episodes with filler and you know the clone wars does as well to be fair but rebels i just i have a hard time caring about ezra specifically earlier on in the show but i do think that kanan was a super interesting character and i liked the way dave filoni went about the end for kanan even though i've seen the entire show i always go back to one specific moment that carries the entire show for me and that's twilight of the apprentice part one and two which topped off season two this is where the show matters for me this is some of the best star wars sprinkled in what i think is just an okay show seeing ahsoka and vader face to face with vader's helmet cracked was just one of the best moments in canon that i think i've actually ever seen so you know rebels probably has the biggest leap from low points to high points that any other star wars show has right now so overall i do really like rebels but it's just not quite up there with the clone wars for me number 12 the phantom menace the phantom menace pretty much showcases the best and worst of star wars i mean george lucas summed up the phantom menace perfectly himself the first time he watched it i may have gone too far in a few places and i've got to agree with big george don't get me wrong i enjoy this movie but there are times where i'm just like one yippie away from turning the movie off and going straight to attack of the clones but most of the time what gets me through the phantom menace is the climactic final duel between darth maul obi-wan and qui-gon it's what this movie does best arguably the best any star wars movie has done a lightsaber duel but i did say arguably and i will be arguing that later in the video don't you worry but jewel of the fates darth maul i mean come on look me in the eye and tell me that this isn't perfect having said that this movie is way too entrenched in the politics this is darth vader's origin story i don't care about the taxation of trade routes now i do love the casting of this movie for the most part and you know elephant in the room time little annie i thought he was fine the hate the little annie gets and as well as jake lloyd is just absolutely ridiculous jar jar as well yeah he can be annoying but he doesn't ruin it for me and like i said if you're one of the just pieces of trash that went after ahmed best then just shame on you dude overall this for me is one of the worst star wars movies but darth maul the world building the final lightsaber duel always save it for me number 11 attack of the clones attack of the clones is a tough one for me i think the phantom menace and attack of the clones are very on par with one another i normally can't decide which one i like more or dislike more but attack of the clones it's just a bit of a mess of overused cgi bad dialogue poor execution on good ideas but it does have the best character in star wars history [Music] episode 2 definitely has its moments among all the flaws and all the sand the moment where anakin slays the tusk and raiders after shmee's death is like 10 out of 10 well-acted well done and the big first step to anakin's journey to darth vader also the world building and attack of the clones is also one of its strong points from kamino to geonosis to the underbelly of coruscant you really get a sense of the scale of this galaxy as well as the addition of count dooku to this movie i thought it was a fine addition and the slow uncovering of what's happening with the clones and the strings that have been pulled over time that the jedi didn't know about i think that was super interesting but could have been executed a lot better the climactic final duel on geonosis i think it's all right there's only so much you can do with an at the time 70 odd year old christopher lee and a cgi yoda but seeing yoda in a lightsaber duel was pretty great and of course this movie sets up the clone wars and sets the wheel in motion for better things to come number 10 the last jedi all right here we go the last jedi it's the most divisive star wars film ever made i think that's very clear some people love it some people hate it and five years later are clearly still not over whining about it every waking minute the state of star wars fans these days who still just are not over the last jedi it kind of reminds me of that meme of the two dudes in the bathroom and one comes and stands right next to the other guy just to tell him how much he hates the last jedi like that is just star wars fans right now in a nutshell but what do i think about the film personally i really like half of it and i really hate the other half so let's talk about the stuff that i do like first and then we'll get into the stuff that i don't visually this is probably the best star wars film that's ever been made does that make it a good film no obviously but ryan johnson clearly knows how to make something look just incredible the second thing i like was actually luke and i know that's going to get some people pretty shitty with me but oh well i'd much rather have seen them give luke some depth some trauma something deeper than just bringing him back to yank star destroyers out the sky because he's luke skywalker and you've got to make him overpowered granted they did actually do that by the end but they actually gave him an arc in the film which i appreciated and to be honest i didn't expect i thought they were just gonna bring him back just so he could be luke and that's it i also loved the kylo ren and ray dynamic in the last jedi i kind of liked it throughout pretty much the entire trilogy to be honest like every moment there on screen together i dug it the scenes with snoke as well were amazing they deepened kylo's character even further here kylo's character is the one common positive thread throughout the entire sequel trilogy for me and snoke's death i thought it was great i thought it was great to see kylo ren do something like that the biggest complaint about the force awakens was that it was too similar to a new hope and played it too safe and the last jedi sure as hell tried to do something different and definitely did not play it safe some of it worked some of it didn't and i almost forgot the scene towards the end of the film where we see luke and leia again one last time and luke's little wink to threepio i absolutely loved that but as for the negatives holdo such a waste of a good actress laura dern just completely wasted with that character rose tico again kelly marie tran wasted with the character pointless boring annoying and completely stunted the interesting setup that finn had in the force awakens and the beginning of this film the kanto bite side quest i get that you wanted to stress the message of war profiteering and play it into finn's arc but you just completely stopped finn's character set up by rose saving finn anyway if finn had have sacrificed himself there that entire sequence and all that character work you tried to do with finn actually would have had some payoff but just rose man just bad character did not help the film at all and i also don't like how they made hux into such a joke this dude should have been like the next hark and obviously he wasn't ever gonna be as good as tarkin but he just ended up being played for laughs like why why would you do that and the broom boy right at the end of the film that went nowhere the last jedi is just such a mixed bag for me i love half of it but i also hate half of it number nine the force awakens i think the force awakens honestly by itself is a really really solid movie and i wish that the key setups this movie put together were actually followed through with because the force awakens done exactly what it needed to do reintroduce star wars for a modern generation with interesting characters and cool concepts and i think they absolutely did that we get the mysterious force sensitive scavenger with clearly a lot more going on than meets the eye in rey a defected stormtrooper that ends up joining the fight with finn an ace pilot with poe dameron and a villain with ties to the skywalker family played by one of the best actors going around right now in kylo ren its only flaw was it was very similar to a new hope which was clearly what they were trying to do i think what they did with kylo ren was also really great the second we got a villain for this trilogy the comparisons between him and vader were inevitable so they played directly into that and made the entire point of the character is that he wanted to live up to his grandfather's legacy but just failed to do so i think kylo ren is about the only thing that made it out of this trilogy completely unscathed by the bs and the pandering from disney so you know i think kylo was great one of my favorite star wars characters ever and i wouldn't say that that's exactly a hot take because adam driver just done such a great job making this character what he is as for the other things yes the death star plot was recycled again but people were fine with that being recycled in return of the jedi so just saying and i of course think that the force awakens is visually incredible we kind of expect that from modern star wars movies but jj abrams man he is very very hit and miss with me i think the force awakens was a hit but jesus was the rise of skywalker a miss number eight return of the jedi return of the jedi i have mixed feelings about return of the jedi i know that this tends to be the one out of the original trilogy that people tend to have the most problems with and i get it because i'm definitely one of them now i do think this is absolutely a worthy conclusion to what a new hope and empire started i do love luke's rescue mission to jabba's palace you know seeing luke choke the gamorian guards is great like that is anakin's son but where this film loses me is the ewoks on endor playing such an integral part in bringing down the empire i've said this before but if this film was released now in 2022 and teddy bears were this integral to bringing down the biggest tyrant in the galaxy as well as the use of the death star plot again i could just imagine the state of the fandom but regardless ewoks just didn't do it for me personally what did do it for me is absolutely everything to do with luke vader and palpatine luke and vader's dialogue exchanges when luke tries to turn vader it's just some of the best dialogue in star wars and is only strengthened by what we know now from the prequels and obi-wan of course the final duel between luke and vader is just one of the best in the saga so much character work done throughout a lightsaber duel they're the best lightsaber jewels the one that just send those characters forward and of course palpatine just you know just being palpatine just so evil so smart and so twisted like i love me some papa pops i think return of the jedi has some great visuals as well some great character work it just has more flaws than a new hope and empire but despite that it is still one of the best star wars movies ever made but for me personally it's easily the worst of the og trilogy number 7 obi-wan kenobi obi-wan kenobi is such a complicated show to rank because let's be real this show was an absolute layup for disney and they definitely shot themselves in the foot with the show but they definitely did at the same time nail a lot of things so i am super conflicted with this show i think 99 of the stuff we get with kenobi and vader was great but i have two main common denominators with this show that continue to just kill it for me one of them being joby harold or whatever his name is the writer that didn't know anything about star wars and needed andrew stanton to come in in the later episodes to hold his hand to actually write the show properly why joby harold was hired to write this show i will never know the dude clearly does not know much about star wars at all also riva riva is a very hot topic on this show and it's for good reason riva in the show ultimately did not need to be here she got no character development until the fifth episode and to be honest they should have just killed her in the fifth episode she just didn't need to be in this show when the grand inquisitor was right there the entire time they legitimately had to take the grand inquisitor out of the show to justify why riva was actually in it and the amount of times a great scene was going on with like kenobi or vader and it would just cut away to riva doing something that absolutely nobody cares about it was just like the writers were forcing you to care about riva like here she is she's still here i know you're here for kenobi invader but reeve is doing this we we don't care i cared 10 times more about tala than riva by this show's end they basically tried to make riva the second sister from jedi fallen order except the second sister in jedi fallen order was actually a good character because she was a good character not because the writer was forcing you to believe that it was a good character that you needed to care about her because just because and of course just having her interject on anything important going on with the characters that we're actually watching the show for that of course being kenobi and vader that's that's why we're here at the end of the day and i will get into the positives of this show in a second i promise but the issues i have with this show really do frustrate me because they were so avoidable like the budget for this show like disney need to sort their crap out with their streaming shows and stop trying to cash grab with these characters how you can justify almost half the budget for kenobi compared to the mandalorian is just a joke the budget affected this show a lot wonky cgi the volume stage they filmed on just getting overused it just gave the show that fan film look at times and that's something that could have been easily avoided if disney just threw the same kind of money at this show that they did with the mandalorian like disney are not short of money man and what better show to throw everything at than this so yeah the writer of the show until andrew stanton came in and held his hand riva and disney dropping the budget on what should have been their big grand stage show they're the main issues i have with it but as for the stuff i actually did like and man there was a lot in this show that i absolutely loved seeing ewan mcgregor and hayden christensen back as kenobi and vader i loved every single second of that when they actually took the spotlight off riva for five seconds and gave you the reason that we were actually watching the show the entire time i thought this show was great the episode 3 fight was a little up and down which again falls into the budget constraint complaint that i had earlier but i thought the finale duel between vader and kenobi was incredible i really wish that it was on mustafar but you know i can get over that the one thing that i wanted in their jewel is for vader's helmet to crack star wars rebels style so we could see hayden under the mask exchanging dialogue with kenobi that is the one thing i wanted from the finale and that is exactly what happened 10 out of 10. it was like it went straight from my mind to the screen and i don't hide it i'm a big hayden christensen fanboy and i thought he crushed it every single time he actually got something to do vader going all star killer in episode five as well just taking the absolute piss out of riva when she tries to kill him like i loved all of that and i also think in the original episode they nailed the ptsd post revenge of the sith kenobi i liked the down time we spent with him to see what he was up to how he lives his life now i thought that was great but overall i think kenobi is just a very uneven show deborah chow's direction just being a prime example of that like the chase sequences were filmed terribly there was also a lot of shaky cam that made it really hard to actually see what was going on and i'm assuming that the shaky cam was just a ploy to help just mask the bad choreography or the sets that they were using i don't know but we'd have those issues but then we'd go and get shots like this and this and this like it was just really uneven direction by deborah chow also the music in this show really let me down they could have used all of the revenge of the sith soundtracks and it would have resonated a lot more with viewers i mean they used jewel of the fates in the trailer for god's sake like why not use any of the prequel soundtracks in the show like it just doesn't really make any sense overall though kenobi has very very high highs but the lows were just so avoidable which just makes it so much more frustrating i don't think anything in the show is outright terrible i just think that the stuff that it doesn't get right were again just really avoidable stuff like if disney just kept their grubby hands away from things for five seconds and also gave it the budget that it deserved things could have been perfect having said that it was great seeing hayden ewan liam neeson back papa palpatine back and even the grand inquisitor like i like what rupert friend did with the character personally it's just a shame he got sidelined for such a poor character but again overall i loved kenobi but damn does it have issues and damn are they avoidable ones number six rogue one a star wars story unlike solo the other star wars spin-off movie rogue one did justify its own existence telling a story with good characters based off of a line in a new hope and a big plot hole in a new hope with the death star just having a pretty unbelievable weakness rogue one seems to be a favorite of the disney star wars era and i completely agree with that i love rogue one every single new character i love the standouts being director orson krennic i thought he was one of the better villains going around jin and galen urso i found really interesting and really compelling cassian i thought was cool and of course k2so he's taking us quiet the idea that the death star's weakness was put there by a technician that you know hated the empire but designed the death star i think it adds to a new hope and seeing the journey of the band of rebels that were mentioned in a new hope to get the death star plans it's just such a good idea for a spin-off and bringing back vader for brief scenes in this could have come off as cheap but director gareth edwards used vader very sparingly but jesus did he use him well i mean that hallway scene i mean do i even need to explain it i definitely don't but i'm going to anyway because it was so damn good it's one of the coolest scenes in star wars history and one of vader's most badass moments but it doesn't just exist to have a badass vader scene he's chasing down the rebels fleeing with the death star plans so you know the scene actually has a point it doesn't feel like just cheap fan service i absolutely love rogue one because it has a good story it's got great characters incredible visuals and it makes a new hope even better number five a new hope or star wars for the purists back to where it all began the original star wars what is there to even say that hasn't been said i love this movie i mean who doesn't if i had one gripe with it it would be the duel between obi-wan and vader but i completely understand why it's not great to look at and i know it's not about that it's about what it means how it sends a story forward and brings obi-wan's arc full circle but part of me does wish that it was like the sc38 fan film jewel it's just tough coming off revenge of the sith jewel between obi-wan and anakin then going straight to this like it pulls me out of it sometimes but of course we've got obi-wan there now so for better or worse but you know all of that that's just a me problem it's not the movie's fault apart from that though i absolutely adore this movie like the visuals the music the beginning of the journey of luke skywalker the introduction of cinema's most iconic villain like how can you not love it if i wanted to get really nitpicky i could have little gripes with this movie you know i used to be a little bit annoyed by the death star having that glaring weakness but rogue one completely fixed that and it did make me enjoy a new hope even more than i already did we've of course got our beloved trio of luke han and leia three completely different characters from different walks of life i love that dynamic and it's something that the sequels really could have got with rey poe and finn maybe not to the same degree but they could have got somewhere near this if they just didn't waste them a new hope of course has its just plethora of absolutely iconic shots the twin sun scene on tatooine with luke is just one of the best star wars scenes ever one of the best scenes in cinema history to be honest with you i mean this movie is just a sci-fi masterpiece i love it but it's not my tip top of star wars personally i think a lot of what came after it went past it which you know is a good thing number four the clone wars tv show and i guess i'll throw the original clone wars tv show in here just for the people that will complain if it's not in this video the clone wars show is one of the better slices of star wars media going around it certainly has its low points and filler episodes with the droid episodes and stuff like that but dude the highs of this show are up there with the greatest canon moments in star wars period the clone wars did an incredible job fleshing out characters like anakin and obi-wan as well as giving more depth to characters that are in the background like kiarimundi like kit fisto it adds more to anakin's eventual downfall the jedi's downfall obi-wan's backstory and it of course added what is now one of the best star wars characters in ahsoka she was technically of course added in the movie but let's be real the ahsoka from the show is the one we actually like this show is flying on all cylinders when anakin and ahsoka are at the forefront but one thing this show does really well is it fleshes out the clones the clones at times are actually the stars of the show in the prequels you don't really get a sense of the clones being actual people under the armor this show completely humanizes the hell out of the clones and it makes you look at things in a different light both before and after order 66. it's great seeing the human side of the clones start seeping into live action with the 501st clone appearing in the obi-wan kenobi show but in terms of like world building character building this show spends so much time expanding the star wars universe during the clone wars it's almost impossible to fully appreciate the prequels as a whole and the time period of the clone wars if you haven't seen this show and i mean the season 7 final arc on mandalore that tied directly into revenge of the sith that is just chef's kiss perfect ahsoka maul mandalore order 66 and i must say to anyone who thinks that this is just a kids show i'll just i'll let obi-wan do the talking you want to go home and rethink your life number three the mandalorian the mandalorian i think is about the only thing that disney star wars has done that has even the most toxic of the star wars fan base praising it the first season was just a simple relatively contained story of a bounty hunter accompanying his little green friend and as the season progresses they form a strong attachment to one another then season two just built on that tenfold and added more jedi and more forced lore around grogu connecting him back to the jedi in order 66 as well as the addition of ahsoka tano her episode is just one of the best things disney has done with star wars to date and of course the insane finale with luke showing up to take grogu off to train him paired with giancarlo esposito just being giancarlo esposito incredible acting under the helmet and when it briefly comes off by pedro pascal and fresh direction from bryce dallas howard deborah ciao and dave filoni the mandalorian is just the perfect example of disney actually making star wars media that puts story and character above all the other crap that we don't really like and conveniently it's probably the best thing they've done with the ip in live action number two the empire strikes back empire is not just one of the best star wars movies ever made but it's straight up one of the best movies ever made one of the best sequels to ever exist it's not quite my favorite star wars movie because of sentimental attachment and all that but do i think it's objectively the best star wars movie yeah i do it's just not my number one if that makes sense lawrence kazdan just came in and built on what a new hope set up luke's trip to dagobah to begin his training properly the building of the connection between luke and vader drunk yoda just being the best comic relief ever but also just the most wisdomous character ever i love all of it if i have one gripe with the movie it's that leia han and chewie's little side quest just feels like the writers just needed to give them something to do until they arrived on bespin but that's like a tiny tiny nitpick at best the addition of billy d williams as lando to the cast is just a goated addition to the star wars family and the final confrontation between luke and vader is just one of the most iconic and beloved star wars moments of all time the way the entire fight scene was shot in the laboratories on bespin was just cinema the lightsaber choreography also improved massively from a new hope and of course the most iconic twist in movie history just sprinkled in there for good measure empire is just the perfect star wars movie i don't know what more i need to say it virtually has no flaws at all i think it's the star wars film that has the most objective quality but like i said it's still not my number one so that of course means that at the number one spot we have revenge of the sith as more and more time goes by this becomes my clear number one i'm not gonna sit here and tell you that revenge of the sith is objectively a better film than empire because it's just not is revenge of the sith flawed yes do i care no this is my star wars movie when i think star wars i think of revenge of the sith the downfall of anakin skywalker and the republic and the rise of darth vader and the empire that's what it's all about for me revenge of the sith just got so much right that its shortcomings are just completely irrelevant to me i just don't care and it's great to see that revenge of the sith being considered someone's number one star wars movie is no longer a hot take i think that's really cool to see but why is it my number one well let's get started the relationship between obi-wan and anakin this is where we finally start to see that these two are like brothers the opening scene makes that very very clear they joke around and they make it very clear that they die for each other you actually felt that here i also think that the downfall of the republic was handled really well the third act of this movie is not a feel-good act it's pretty sad when anakin does go that one step too far and reaches a point of no return it's it's sad i also think that ian mcdermott just cheeses it up so much as palpatine like you can tell this dude is just having so much fun and he is menacing when he needs to be and i think the order 66 sequence is one of the best sequences in star wars ever like john williams just took no prisoners and scored the out of it this is one of if not the most important events in the star wars timeline across the entire skywalker saga and you feel that whether it's anakin's slaying younglings clone slaughtering jedi across the galaxy like it's so good and clone wars season 7 definitely added to the effect of water 66 with seeing it from ahsoka's perspective just watching revenge of the sith now knowing about that just makes it hit that much harder i know the clone wars is entirely separate but revenge of the sith works way better as a film for me with context for what that show offers but regardless ewan mcgregor and hayden christensen i love what these two brought to their characters and their lightsaber jewel this needed to be the most bombastic over-the-top epic star wars duel in history and it was like you're actually not human if you don't get chills when anakin and obi-wan begin their duel on mustafar and john williams just decides to be the biggest giga chad ever and deliver one of the best scores of the saga every single second of anakin and obi-wan's jewel is as epic as it needed to be it's in my opinion the best lightsaber jewel that we've ever seen and i think we will ever see i don't think it's ever going to be topped hayden and ewan trained the house down behind the scenes clearly and it's insane what the two of them were actually able to do revenge of the sith i also find excels in its quiet moments it's very much an action film there's definitely a lot happening but when it does slow down i think it's very effective the scene where palpatine is telling anakin about plagueis i know it's become a meme over time but it is a great scene and another standout scene for me has always been when anakin and padme have that silent exchange across the sunset of coruscant anakin's clearly wrestling with what he needs to do next the scene goes for about a minute like there's no dialogue it's just a great score and silence that says more than words ever could one of the best scenes of this movie easily and i nearly forgot palpatine and yoda's jewel interwoven with anakin and obi wans with battle of the heroes and duel of the fates mixed together it's just perfect overall i absolutely love this movie it's my star wars movie it's what got me into it it's what keeps me into it it's a flawed masterpiece which i know makes absolutely no sense but it's just easily my number one star wars film so that's it with finally all done all star wars movies and shows ranked from worst to best in my opinion of course there was no ewok movies here i know there's going to be the one person that says something about that it was a stretch for me to even put resistance in this video so of course let me know all of your thoughts in the comments below drop a like on the video if you
