Yeah, Michael Heiser is a serious and well respected Christian scholar, who does a lot of work in trying to understand the way the Biblical authors would have viewed the "spirit world" or unsee realm as he calls it. As a fellow Christian, its nice to see this kind of egagement with the phenomenon from a scholar of his standing.
Well I'm overstimulated.
I never thought I'd see the name "Dr. Michael Heiser" in this subreddit...
I started watching this last night I'm going to try and finish it tonight.
As always, the man is brilliant.
The man himself , this will be a good watch to say the least.
His book The Unseen Realm and Reversing Hermon are two of the most eye-opening books I’ve ever read. I recommend them to everyone I meet.
Heiser has a lot of great stuff on his channel best one for me is where he took apart the ancient aliens bull shine
Do you know what's better than a UFO conference? A sociology conference on the culture and identity of a specific group with spiritual and religious undertones. The theological aspects are totally ignored by academics as being tangible. The audience present, some who are part of the community being studied demonstrated otherwise. It's a primary driving force for identity and societal formation.
I approached a person there who was studying to become a priest. He asked a question to the panel members that caught my interest. I told him, "whatever the panel says, it is your reality." He immediately opened up and told me he had a terrible experience when he was meddling with the occult and that made him become a Christian. I understood, and knew beforehand - I am also an experiencer.
I enjoy all different types of views of personal understanding. The more theories and opinions that are made public, the more humanity can decipher what they believe the truth is. From my last 12 years of studies, I’ve come to believe that experiences should not be dismissed because they reach beyond what humanity believes is practical. Are there real spiritual entities? Maybe. Are some good and evil and everything in between? Maybe. Are there physical beings beyond earth? Maybe. Are there cryptids and goblins? Maybe. The point is as long as we keep the door open(“Maybe”) we are on the right track to understand the truth, without bias. To discredit a subject you have little knowledge of is foolish and vice versa. Either study until you have a reasonable understanding, or remain neutral. Since our understanding of the universe is still immature, we can not simply deny the merit of a certain thing that extends beyond our knowing.
Bold use of the word 'evidence' there.
