A.I. will soon REPLACE AUDIO ENGINEERS!

this is kind of bad news for the mastering side of my business I might want to start to get worried now ai mastering seems to be a thing for years already and every time I test it I get mixed results and I usually prefer a real mastering engineer made a very interesting video about it over here you you should really really watch it one of the coolest videos I've ever made if you ask me now most of these services are subscription models or you have to pay per master or whatever however today I'm looking at a plugin a one-time payment plugin so let's see if this is something [Music] and the plugin that I'm looking at today is called the AI master from axonic UK artificial intelligence assisted processing AI Master automatically analyzes your music and applies the optimal settings to achieve a great sounding fully mastered track AI Master will enhance and optimize the dynamic range spectral balance stereo field and overall level to conform to established standards making your version features full functionality but introduces intermittent noise and mutes please try a trial versions before purchasing to ensure compatibility with your setup I am running the paid version because the people from exonick did send it to me but apart from that they didn't give me any instructions or whatsoever I'm really looking at this as a consumer as an audio idiot and if you wish that creates opportunities to do bigger projects oh I'm just reading the email I don't even read the emails the developer of this plugin used to work at has left the company and now started this business the the exonic UK business so yeah I I don't know what that says about the plugin basically nothing I think it's pretty straightforward I think it's just a matter of analyze so this is the plugin and it's interesting so we've got a whole bunch of zeros here we've got analyze we've got master master doesn't work I think it needs to analyze we don't have any hidden buttons or something we don't even have a bypass the songs that I'm going to push through this plugin because it will be multiple songs of course are also known as Sandstorm by Darude [Music] is it head banging what is it doing and what are all these numbers are these actual this is an actual output of a certain programming thing function whatever development thing or is this just crap [Music] seems random all right so now it needs to listen to the full song does it I don't know it doesn't it doesn't really come with instructions I need to switch it to master modes when the track has finished playing okay okay [Music] [Music] okay it's done Master okay oh so now it's going to look at me oh that's scary is this the curve then or I mean it's moving and doing things I don't know [Music] okay if I now disable it then that's louder [Music] oh and it's distorting here listen can I hear some clear on that on that bass like let's listen to the original master [Music] it's a whole different way of looking at the mastering [Music] I mean I mean I am impressed by what it is already capable of doing I think that we can categorize Ai and audio into two categories we've got AI that basically assists us with setting up a chain sonamable does this really well I just hope that's it really well and we've got AI replacement uh where the AI tries to replace the engineer so the AI assist stuff really is there to help us setting up the first thing the the mastering chain and then the engineer can tweak and alter the settings on the chain and again isotope and Son of will do that really well however this plugin is more of an AI replacement where it wants to replace the real mastering engineer and that is cool it would make things a lot more accessible and also a lot more easier for a lot of musicians because you're all of a sudden cutting out some costs but you're also cutting out a certain workflow and a certain waiting time like I had to wait for the full song to play it's just very very quick and very immediate however on the AI assist it's still possible to tweak things with this it isn't while with a real mastering engineer which this tries to replace it still is possible to tweak things by you know sending a message like hey cool but can we take a different approach and what I think I plug in like this needs is chat GPT and now I'm putting out a lot of these AI buzzwords but imagine this if I could just describe my feeling usually a client doesn't say like hey I think there's too much 100 Hertz in the song No a client says I think the Baseline sounds a bit too warm or the bass line distorts a little bit or can you make it cleaner or less wide or they use very creative terms if I could communicate with this plugin saying hey I like the warmth but can you also give me a cleaner version and then this plugin would say like okay let's try this and change the settings in the background in that time so that is what a plugin like this would need and that is what would make a plugin like this different from the rest of the industry that would be really cool if it would be able to do something like that this right now is is very very very basic and I honestly don't really see a benefit over this compared to just having ozone Master something automatically it will probably give a bit of a different result but if you don't alter the settings you're basically doing the same as this thing is doing there's no option to tweak and before I'm going to end this video I want to try out one more song just to make sure that I'm getting it right I'm going to have this thing listen to a more poppy song and let's see uh let's see what it comes up with [Music] it is pretty bold actually it really dares to to do things it's not very clean or something [Music] it's like the original monster [Music] and here you can hear that it's like [Music] what I was saying I don't think it's doing a bad job and it's I have to be very careful with what I'm saying here because I'm a Mexican mastering engineer for three days a week this is kind of bad news for the mastering side of my business uh the AI monster from exonic costs 93 Euros which is like my mastering price at the moment is 95 Euros so it's cheaper than a mastering engineer and you only have to buy this once and then you have a plug-in that you can use over and over again that's the good side of it the bad side is is that you cannot input anything it's literally what you hear is what you get so if if you are okay with that then this is a cool plugin for me this gives me a little bit of a glimpse into the future like I might wanna start to get worried now a little bit like like if if this becomes a plugin that you can talk to then I think I'll have a problem with at least the mastering side of my business and and not just me I actually think that if software like this like a few years down the road Could Happen starting to get convinced that it could happen like like I was in an ignorance state for a long time but think it could happen I don't like that but yeah it is what it is it's not that I can stop it so um so yeah I will link to exonic qk in the description down below where you
