um architecture is all about spaces and it's all about lines and those are really the elements I carry into pal design the rest is just color theory and shape um and then you're going to Overlay pathing and AI functionality on top of that right and that those are really the frames you're you're considering when you're you're building a base and I will show you guys uh the design principles that I used for all three of my bases I'm working right now on the mining base on top of this mountain um and it's notoriously hard to build on because of the uneven terrain but it's just got all the resources in the mid game you want you want your base here right the tough part is we have all this uneven terrain which makes building a base here extremely hard and you'll see people set up their bases here and I I promise you this is the best base I've seen in this location in val world I've seen other YouTube videos of people having their base here I have the best one in this spot I really do and I'll show you guys exactly how I did it and the what I was thinking right so it's a mining base um I have a nubis out here I have one of that uh that guy with level four mining I have one dig toys just to get through the Rocks quickly um and then the key here is is just having chests all within the field within the mine field right um You Want chests everywhere so that the transportation time is minimized other thing I'm thinking about in terms of functionality um is want I have that orz zerk out of the way you know he's generating electricity the second thing is I have that chest really close to the stone pit right over there so I can just walk up to the stone pit take it over there put it in the chest right I don't have to think about Transportation time um and the last thing I'm thinking about here is making everything wide right you see that entrance here is huge um and I've got these level two which take up space but it's still enough for the big I've got enough space in between here and the cabinets for the big Pals to get through you can see that guy's watering something upstairs I've actually found that that's pretty consistent I'm not worried about that so I've got this wide space uh whenever you're making stairs you make the stairs double wide um this is for AI pathing purposes it's not for you it's for the p and these storage I have an organized storage system um I don't need the palace to interact with this they interact with the storage outside this is fine I keep this tight so it takes up as little space on the floor as possible but I need space in front of this assembly line because I need Anubis is to be able to uh slide in there um the last thing I'm doing to optimize functionality is U making sure that I have storage next to production facilities right you see that uh the electric furnace I have going on basically you can cook something up I've got enough ore to pretty much make anything and then you just put the storage right next to it so you don't have to transport while you're overb burdened that just makes everything so much easier you can see me go ahead and do that right here trust me as soon as you get hip to this you're going to want to put your storage right next to your furnace it's just this is the best way to do it there you go no burdened carrying right uh so let me head upstairs and show you guys oh yeah by the way I love those large ceiling lamps I only have one lamp and it lights up the whole base in between levels it's great um up the double wide staircase you can see here I've got a little bit of some Berry Farms going on and a double wide door door right the doors need to be double white as well um and then there's a spot area up here right but everything's flat everything's easy to get to um I've got I'm seeing these Anubis run up and down the stairs to transport the gold I've got a super Kitty so making gold so I'm just going to put a a gold or a storage thing right here below the window cell um so their transportation distance goes down right cuz as soon as it's in a chest um you can pull from it to build right so you don't need centralized Storage decentralized storage is what it's all about to optimize functionality there bring down Transportation time okay um the stuff I'm talking about right now mainly is is is functionality um I want to start talking about some of the design stuff I'm doing so if Foundation height right the foundation Height's big uh you really need to play around with it and find the perfect height um especially on uneven terrain you see here I couldn't even get into this corner right cuz I'm really maximizing it yeah there's a certain height where like you can only go so tall with the foundations and towards the back half of the base I'm really trying to like Max that out like I'm really pushing these things so you can see like it's not it's barely connected to the ground right and then towards the front I have it dug into the terrain as much as I can right so I'm trying to like find that middle point where I like okay I'm going forward as much as I can um and I'm going backwards as far as I can so I think the reason I couldn't do this Foundation was because it clipped into a a node ore so I I got to delete that again um it clipped into a mineral so yeah the last thing I'll say about Foundation height is you just need to play around with it you need to build out the full length you need to build out the full width before you know it's right cuz you might run into something where you don't have the ground right you don't have the support you don't have the height right um but you need to get it right so you can get your biggest Foundation possible because you need big um to have enough space for the AI pathing right let's see here the next thing I want to show you is after you have your foundation set and this one is a square I'll show you basis I I love to make things more interesting than a square um but after you have your foundation set you want to start thinking about shape right I don't want just a square I have these corner pieces in the uh made out of the half walls or those triangle walls to give it a little bit more of a shape um and the other thing I'm doing is I have this trust system underneath where the top of the base is actually larger than the bottom of the base and this gives it a slightly more interesting shape right and then I'm also architecturally I'm thinking a little bit about how you interact with the base and how you go through spaces um so the natural terrain that I'm trying to emphasize here is going to be the view right I have this amazing view of the waterfalls at the back and I have some pools so I'm trying to you know come up with spaces that frame that view for me like the spa space up here and there's different depending on the terrain depending on the features around you there's going to be different things that you want to emphasize like I have a lavender base where I'm not trying to emphasize it I'm trying to emphasize a lavender and I also have like let's say there's a base where you have a waterfall right uh you really want this all of these things to point towards the waterfall and you really want to show off like the natural things around you right that's just classic architecture right um the other thing I'm thinking about is decoration is kind of the last step right so you start off with shape right then you get to depth right then you get to the materials that you're picking out and then the last step is decoration you only do decoration last and I'll show you why so I have metal on bottom uh to give you a darker color it gets lighter as you go up right the reason I'm doing metal on bottom is because it kind of looks and feels like it could hold up the rest of the structure I'm not going to put wood on bottom and metal on top that would make no sense your brain would think that it's going to fall over right um so you need to make it look like it's structure to make need to make it look like it's supported otherwise it won't really have the same hit you know if it's just fake standing on one wall you my God it's just cheap you know what I mean cheap design um so yeah I have a kind of a fade going on where I have the darker materials on bottom you know what happens to be the stronger materials and then I have lighter materials as you go up um and then you can see here I've done a little bit of a chest system just to give the top a little bit more depth a little bit more definition right don't get me wrong this is the last step right because once you have your foundation once you have your shape you're working within a framework right I got the chillet family chilling up there everybody loves chillet right um so decoration and color is last right and that's what I'm thinking about last it's just you know you're trying to polish whatever you made if you made a turd you're going to be polishing that right if you made something interesting you're going to be polishing something interesting so let me show you guys the interior uh you have a lot more interior designs than exterior in power world so you really do have some great options so those curtains I love those curtains really great colors um and then you like this space is completed the rest of the spaces aren't but yeah you really can make some finished looking interiors and and power they have great options for interiors um so yeah you just got to you know think like you know you have different rooms you have different items and you try to make it look like a real house that's how you do the interior let you break it down for you right it's going to be First Foundation height the next thing you're trying to figure out is the shape okay once you have the shape you're going to start building up into levels and you want to make these levels have different depth okay okay you can't just have a a straight wall all the way up and make a giant Cube that's not interesting right you need the levels to have different depths okay and after you have your shape right once you have your depth and your levels then you're going to start doing materials right you need to have more than one material type to make so you start bringing in color theory like compare and contrast right and then once you have your foundation your shape uh your definition your compare and contrast once you have all that set then you start decorating right and where you're thinking about AI pathing is is in the very beginning when you're laying down foundations you need to be considered you need really wide Pathways you need two wide staircases you need two wide uh doorways if you need the pals to go through it actually don't need the pals to go up this building it's not important for the base function so I I don't have double wide staircases here but I do wherever they're working I have a perfectly flat space you see this so this this way the pathing isn't they're they're not going to they're not going to get confused you know trying to work around this is a farm base um I just make it so I don't have to have uh food Pals at my other bases um so I just have one base that cranks out and one thing I love about this base is the the lavender right so you can see here I've made everything low to the ground um that's on purpose because I want the lavender to kind of shine through the foundations here um to optimize functionality again I put the storage close to the production right the feed box is the storage for food base and yeah this cranks this thing cranks it does great makes all the food I need and I can even sell the rest and salads sell at 120 a piece so it's a decent gold base as well I don't know why I have a a thatch bed but whatever um got some production over here I could bring storage closer to this um that's not perfect and I I've got room for some more tools up here um and then overlooking that uh that natural feature you see what I mean trying to like a viewing place so yeah I want to show you a little bit of the shape it's not just a square right cuz I knew this was going to be low to the ground to really show off the lavender so I wanted to make the shape more interesting you see what I mean um I don't have symmetry I have balance this side has more weight to it because it's higher and this side is larger right so those two sides are not symmetrical but they are balanced and then I have this little patio area to show off the beautiful Lake in front of it and also to give it a slightly more interesting shape um and then that castle itself I have stairs that give the profile more definition I have like a slanted plane uh as well as a horizontal plane and I even have the uh those those top squares right giving it a more interesting shape than just a square you see what I mean it has those that castle look right this one was tough this this is the hardest base that I uh that I made right uh the first thing I want to show off is the Skylight and it was an accident that became a feature just because I couldn't get enough support near the center cuz the furthest you can build out is two away from a foundation um so yeah ran out of Foundations towards the middle and now I just have a skylight to access the base through the middle which is great um but yeah this triple wise staircase is is critical um and I'm just trying to keep production close together I'm man I'm thinking my production and pal production is is crossed over in this space it's it really was tough um you know the beds are in one section the egg incubators are in another section um and I've got this like cross design in the base right more food production over there and I've got three breeding farms right and I knew I was going to need a huge breeding space and it was it was a tight fit because those breeding farms are huge like 4x4 so I knew I was going to have to have a lot of outdoor space allocated uh lastly I did was angle in those walls so that Pals would stop getting stuck behind the stairs um and I have these stairs wall to wall so that Pals don't get stuck on the edges right um head upstairs I've got I love the way these double barrel chests look they create a nice half wall they create a good barrier or like a semi inside Space right so I love these for the outside um and then I've got just you know some egg storage for the ones I'm too lazy so let me show you a little bit of the shape um I started off with a uh a circle um just make making those Gates uh making those defensive walls and I'm trying to give myself as much space in those corners for the ranches and the Farms as possible and it really was it getting those things to clip in and and and turn blue instead of red was was a freaking challenge you know U you can see I did the same thing here I have the heavier material on the bottom I have the wood on top right looks good and then the the gate and the structure are two separate connections right so to line them up and kind of make it all work I I did the gates uh aligned with cardinal directions and then I tried to place the foundations facing a cardinal direction as well uh so that even though they don't snap together perfectly at least they're aligned if that makes sense um and then as I built up you can see it's not all a flat wall I have different depths here as I go up and and that different depth uh gives it a more interesting shape it's not all flat I even have a little bit of a protrusion on that uh second layer you see what I mean uh the last thing I did that I like was I have this this line here these parallel lines running together with the half wall and the stairs um are arure is all about spaces and it's all about lines and those are really the elements I carry into pal design the rest is just color theory and shape um and then you're going to Overlay pathing and AI functionality on top of that right and that those are really the frames you're you're considering when you're you're building a base so yeah just to give you guys a rundown real quick right here's the key right um shape first foundations first okay then you're going to think about levels and giving your levels your different levels different depth okay then you're going to start thinking about about materials you want the heavier materials on bottom the lighter materials on top okay once you have your shape your levels your materials picked out then you start decorating then you start thinking about color Okay um and then when you're thinking about Ai pathing and making things wide is when you're laying down the foundation it really needs to be thought about from the very beginning um if you stuck through this whole video man you gave me 17 minutes of your life just head down there and subscribe right now if you're literally watching this you gave me like 15 minutes orever long this video turns out to be um so just go hit the
