okay for the last time at Euro 2024 I'm going to be giving England's players marks out of 10 and they were second best if that in the final they probably weren't even second best in the tournament they did not play well in Berlin tonight Spain deserved to win so here we go with the marks out of 10 Jordan pford seven he made a couple of really good saves in the second half that kept it at one n and therefore kept England in the game so he deserved a decent Mark in my opinion all tournament his distribution could have been better seven out of 10 for Jordan Pickford tonight Kyle Walker I gave her two out of 10 now defensively you've got to look at him for both goals to an extent getting forward did he do enough to support sacker on the right hand side where if they' overloaded I think they could have got the better of Kara but it just didn't happen Kyle Walker for me did not do enough he gets a two out of 10 Luke Shaw well he did okay considering it was his first start in any football match since February big bold decision again from Gareth Southgate I don't I think Luke Shaw starting was the reason England didn't win the final he gets a five out of 10 from me Luke Shaw Mark gahi I'll give a five out of 10 as well I think if you look at the winner he didn't really anticipate the possible early cross um from Kara that o Alo put in the back of the net and therefore he didn't get enough on him didn't get enough to block it off possibly we'll look at that and think he could have done better overall though Gay's had a great tournament I think and uh he's been a real fine for England going forward he should be a regular in that left side Center half birth JN Stone 6 decent on the ball uh defensively we let two in and he's got to take responsibility as the senior center back uh senior defender in that side he's a champion so we expect a little bit more but I'll give him a six out of 10 Dean rice five out of 10 headed over when he needed to get it on target he needed to hit the back of the net see he's on the ball a lot he makes a lot of passes but are they any good that's the big question there's a lot of sideways backwards is there anything can you remember a defense splitting pass from Dean rice cuz I can't kobby Mayu I don't think it was his best night tonight he did okay five out of 10 kobby Mayu but he again has had a really good tournament um compared to a lot of them so fair play to him I think he's come out of this tournament with uh a lot of positives Jude Bellingham an enigma I mean he runs himself into the ground but we're expecting quality and then you remember he's young but he's just won the double with Real Madrid he's one of the world's best players the Balon door was there to be had and he just hasn't seized it in this tournament he's not been good four out of 10 we just expect more he will have regrets from this tournament Jud Bellingham I'm going to give Baya Saka a five tonight because he could have buried karay he didn't did need more help from Walker but sometimes you just have to take on that responsibility and take on your man more and more commit him get him fouling get him booked get him sent off or beat him get crosses in or score go goals I saw none of that really from Baya saaka not enough tonight I'm afraid Phil foden a five again we know he can do so much more but plays within himself now maybe it's the England Mantra of holding on to what we've got or whatever it might be from Gareth Southgate the keeps foden playing within himself but it's frustrating watching Phil foden for England no question about that Harry Kane he gets a one out of 10 and he's lucky to get that he's clearly not fit well if he's not fit why you're playing him if he's not fit why you're playing him for 60 minutes we play for an hour with 10 men so maybe it's Brave the England Captain playing for that long or maybe it'd be braver to say look boss I can't do it I'm not going to perform give Ole Watkins or Ivan Tony a chance starting for England tonight either way we played with 10 men for an hour he gets a one out of 10 Subs Ole Watkins I thought caused them problems when he came on so 7 out of 10 for him and Cole Palmer eight out of 10 yet again he's our star man having come off the bench late in the game scored a really great goal thoroughly deserved it as well and it's really weird when you could say that our best player in the tournament was Cole Palmer and people probably wouldn't argue with you yet he didn't start a game something seriously wrong there and Gareth Southgate 2 out of 10 he kept Kane on for too long then we sat back at 1:1 why on Earth we're sitting back when it looked like Spain were there for the taking I've got no idea what he really needed to do was go for the jugular go for the win and who knows England could be lifting silver where overall though they didn't really deserve it didn't deserve it on the night didn't deserve it over the course of the whole tournament they got very lucky didn't score enough goals and it's another miserable failure from England are we ever going to win a trophy it doesn't look like it
