[Music] in today's video we are exploring one of the first moles that ever existed the Northland Center Mall started construction in 1952 and the mall was opened on March 22nd 1954 the designer for the mall was Victor GRU an austrian-born architect who was later called the father of modern malls for creating his architecture style that we see in all malls today when open Northland was the largest model world make sense because Detroit in the 50s was rolling with people and money as the glory days of Detroit came and went so did the people like bankruptcy dominoes major anchor started falling from the mall in 2013 target and TJ Maxx closed and in 2015 the largest hit Macy's closed their doors for good then later that year well releasing new information tonight about the investigation of a local man who died after a struggle with mall security at Northland mall mall security made two calls to police the first to report they had some sort of situation on their hands the next call to say they needed a medic police arrived in just eight minutes to find Cochrane not breathing and prior to officers arriving no security guard had administered any sort of first aid [Music] following both the death of mackenzie cochran and the major anchor store shutting their doors for good the city purchased the property for 2.5 million dollars with the plans of demolition this video may be the last to document the inside of this historic structure and now here we are exploring what remains of this once economical powerhouse if you enjoy the video leave a thumbs up and enjoy your trip to the [Music] [Music] to my left i have the malls courtyard which is for the most part completely overgrown just from four years of neglect and no landscaping or maintenance but i walk down here once and as we passed these businesses on our right hand side we'll be making our way to the food court small is huge only a one-story mall though all these little pieces of paper are all Michigan lottery slips just absolutely everywhere you'll see a bunch when we come down by the food court very spooky charli's some sort of Chinese place and a subway coming up at one of the corners to the mall and I believe this was the JC Penney's and I'm completely guessing I really don't know what was here but it kind of just looks like it looks like one would be here I'll peek inside the inside for a bit but it looks like it's completely gutted pitch dark I see some mold setting in very creepy though here's a remnant of the past this was RadioShack at least I think so that are looks familiar I haven't seen it in years but there was my guess kaltaka setup it would be in two this is like a little kids play a playroom super dark you can see all the colors that's as good as we're gonna get in here pretty sure that's where the target would be kind of been wandering haven't been recording just taking in the environment I ended up on this side of the mall which has a nice little view all of the little space between and we're gonna go into what I believe is Macy's and this place still has the lights on some very dark spots too very creepy environment I'm just gonna show you guys here is the electric humming I did the white flower detail hanging they saved a 34th on shoes save 20 to 40% on sweaters save an extra $25 off sale prices on all stereos component and we Co and every TV Friday this is terrifying I don't know where they go up or down it's so quiet oh it down is pitch pitch pitch black okay we're gonna go up just to see what the third floor looks like and they're gonna come back down and explore the rest of them all oh look here you could say they're actually working in here scrapping taking away from the building you have piles of crap over there okay well we came up here we know what it looks like now the Macy's also has a tiny little restaurant bar I said uh pretty nicely let me get the good lighting in the room so you guys can see there we go got all the detail seats moldings up top nope that was this Wow architectures real nice for a mole ceilings are so high if this feels like we're in some sort of like just like Kingdom you know I mean like the columns and everything skylights it looks really sick yeah it's in good condition too so apparently Chris found a really cool room damn this is the visuals I'll look at this and the love survives [Music] alright guys that's gonna do it for today's video we've checked out I mean jority of this mall and honestly this place is really spooky this was actually my first let's get out of here man take your picture let's go right out of here right now anyway if you like the video thumbs up like always subscribe for more content that's it gotta go peace [Music] [Music] [Music]
