well guys i got to be honest i found some video footage from about a year ago i won a beautiful luxury motorhome from 1986 it was called a barth and it's got everything originally it went on sale for a hundred and fifty four thousand dollars in 1986. i won it for 600 bucks this is my video of that trip and unfortunately my camera died during the trip and i lost some footage so it's not 100 complete but we did go through the process of getting this thing fired up and getting her moving plus it was five hours away so let's go check it out enjoy the video [Music] what's up guys dustin here you're watching the life of lynn channel thank you so much for tuning in and we are on an adventure today we are taking a road trip out of state to go look at something that we picked up from auction that you guys might find pretty interesting you guys have probably already seen from the thumbnail and the title of this video what we're going to look at and hopefully pick up we'll see if we can get it started so this is the start of the adventure let's see what happens we are getting fuel so let's get down the highway [Music] 14 miles per gallon right now which is not bad because we are towing why are we telling you my house no we're not putting a 35-foot luxury motorhome on the back of the denali would be cruel and the trailer's way too small so go ahead and stick with me and i'll show you what i'm thinking hopefully it works out [Music] [Music] [Music] all right guys we uh just drove through lincoln nebraska we got a few more exits here and then our exits up for uh the cohort yard out here which is right next to the i-80 speedway so we are about to get off the interstate go check it out it has been a long 390 miles so far and most of my day so the time here currently is 1 50 in the afternoon and we still don't even know if this thing runs so this could be a really long day all right we're almost there so it's really rocky back here sorry uh checked in we're headed to the lot they are letting us go back to the actual motorhome and seeing if we can't get it fired up really nice lot here fresh rock everything's really well organized the lincoln co-park facility so far has been very good a lot of campers back here a lot of flood damage ones because uh there's a lot of stuff going on with floods last year there it is that's our new barth motorhome first things first how's there on the tires yep good tread left tag axle looks good this thing supposedly has burn damage guys i have no idea i looked at all the photos so closely trying to figure out where the damage was and i couldn't find it this thing's got all kinds of furnaces it's got three furnaces two air conditioners a giant generator and hopefully there's keys i don't see any sun's burn damage so far this thing's a beast wow tv a little old school but we plan on remodeling this thing cleaning it up we have our keys batteries are probably disconnected or completely dead one of the other so this is i believe it's a 454 gm engine general motors yeah might be a cold ride back i just noticed this window's broken wish me luck guys i uh got to figure this thing out usually there's a battery cut off switch somewhere over here by the stairs to get in none of those seem to be working typically the batteries are located here looks like not on this model all right guys gopro died so we have to switch to the phone sorry about that hopefully you can still see me okay hopefully everything's good there uh so this is where we're at we got the engine cover off we just checked everything uh fluid wise we're good i don't see anything out of the ordinary with that stuff didn't find a battery cut off switch but i did find the batteries they're over here um i got the jumper pack one this looks like the engine start battery which is way too small but the batteries are newer and then in my endeavors of crawling around ah yeah that's the driveshaft and the dirt and it's disconnected and there's no bolts up there or caps no bolts or caps that's gonna be an issue so i'm gonna look around for those but first i'm gonna see if i can even get it running i can't get it running there's no point then crawling underneath this thing and hooking up the drive shaft and stuff at that point we'll just have to uh call a tow company to come out and pick it up and it'll be a waste of 10 hours of driving so let's see what happens i'm not sure if that is but it came out well everything in here is on so we got to turn everything off and i don't know got air compressors here for those let's maybe once the airbags are up they'll shut off hopefully come on i don't know what uh it considers full it's about 40 psi right now oh that's full yeah we're clearly gonna need more juice it uh that's not enough so there's possibility that we can get the gen set running and if the gen set's running we can use the power converter to charge the batteries back up i don't know if that charge is going to start battery though so that might be an option all right we're letting the batteries charge up got the denali hooked up over there uh got everything pressurized and checked out fuel tank two less than a quarter fuel tank one shows full i don't know what's right or what's wrong so get that switched on to the full tank uh all right well i'm just gonna let it sit for a little bit make sure everything's turned off charging batteries up [Applause] all right charging range and start battery a little bit here looks i checked everything out looks like we should be good to go if we got enough juice let's see here this is 14 volts i don't know about the amperage yet but still have the denali hooked up and running out there and punch the throttle set the choke oh man [Music] [Music] [Music] so all right guys that uh started surprisingly easy considering what i thought i was up against here seems to be running fine so [Music] which is a little rough but i'm expecting that the fuel is ancient in this thing so hopefully we can get that cleared out i did bring some fuel system stabilizer and cleaner with me dump that in the tank i got a few more things to do well when we got it running apparently it kicked on the overhead lights make sure everything else is off all right well here's go find those bolts that fit on the u-joint on the drive shaft there and uh also the u-bolt ah sorry guys i didn't have time to film a bunch of stuff i got in a big hurry to get this thing fired up before they closed i never did find the bolts for the drive shaft so i went to a local napa store and picked up a u-joint still didn't have the bolts there but there's one about 30 minutes away that does unfortunately coat part was gonna close before i was able to get back so i borrowed one of the bolts from one of the forward drive shafts we've got everything really tight and we're going to limp this thing down there so we can put some bolts on it get it home but it is running we got it moved out of the lot so it's out of their way so they can close hopefully i can back this thing out of here and then we can put our trailer on the hitch and tell our car hopefully stinks in here but everything seems to work so far we're gonna use it across the road to this truck stop all right we got our radio over there see when we put these things together [Music] wow all right guys i don't know about this [Music] hmm so okay i'm trying to decide what i want to do here it's getting pretty late i don't know what time that napa closes but it's in lincoln i said it's about 30 minutes away from here so i don't know if i want to drive this all the way up there because it might be closed by the time i get there or shut it down lock it up here at this truck stop jump in the denali and haul ass up there and then try to get back with all my parts to fix this thing and then get back on the road but it's going to be late it's going to be an extra hour to go up there and come back and then drive back up that way again except pass that way to go home struggle guys it's a struggle well it's dark out i don't even know if you guys can see me or not probably not how about now well we made it out of the cobot lot so that was good we made it to uh truck stop just a couple miles away actually and uh ran into some issues i smelled fuel so i went ahead and stopped and checked everything out we did find we did i did find a giant fuel leak right at the mechanical fuel pump on the side of the engine and that was real bad that could be spraying all over stuff uh if we were to get on the interstate and it'd probably burst into flames so we don't want that that would be bad they might actually have burn damage probably because it'd be burned to the ground so we don't want that so i got that cleaned up and then i found an auto parts store that's open but it's it was clear and lincoln it was about 30 minute drive so drove to lincoln in the car and picked up this mechanical fuel pump and now we're gonna go put it on and it is 6 13 colorado time so it's actually 7 13 here in nebraska and i still got to get home because i got to work tomorrow and i got to take my kids to daycare and i have a lot of things i have to do because my wife has to work so we better get to it it's underneath the barf see how this goes and unfortunately guys that's where that story ends footage was lost because i was underneath that barth motorhome replacing a fuel pump a fuel line and bolts for about two and a half hours well into the late night in the middle of winter in nebraska and unfortunately i got grease on the phone or whatever camera i was using and the footage got deleted somehow so that is only part of the problem the other part of the problem is we never made it home with that barth motorhome after laying in the cold ground for two hours we were not able to get that thing back together the fuel pump they had given us was the wrong one by just a hair so the bolts didn't line up we ended up having to leave that thing at a truck stop and we were calling the next day to have it towed to a shop and the truck stop had already had a towed so we've spent thousands of dollars already trying to get this thing fixed up good enough so i can drive it home and that was a year ago and it's still in nebraska so hey guys hit that like button subscribe to the channel and share on your social media if you have a chance that would be so awesome and it helped me out so much because maybe we make a few extra dollars on this video i can afford to go pick that thing up pay my tow fees and get it fixed and bring it back so we can remodel it because it's really it's a beautiful old motorhome and i can't wait to dig into it but life is crazy and 2020 was crazy and that was a year ago so welcome to 2021 let's get going thank you guys so much for watching god bless you [Music]
