A Simple Plot Summary of Xenoblade Chronicles 2

so here's what happens in Xenoblade to full spoilers for Xenoblade - obviously and minor spoilers for Xenoblade 1 but it's more a retcon than a spoiler and i try to keep things about that game as big as possible in this game you play as rex who is what you get when you combine Sora for Kingdom Hearts and Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia but write him to be as annoying as possible he's a cockney salvager who rides on the back of a dragon which might sound cool but the dragon is a total boomer whose dialogue can't be heard over the background music what is this one of my videos rex makes living pulling up garbage from the cloud seat which is a sea of clouds because they didn't wanna get sued by winwaker i miss all the people in this world live inside up or on the backs of large features called titans stop me heard this one before Rex gets to salvage a job from Annoying green chicken mob boss who keeps saying man man man record dialog and keeps up with the group called torn up comprised of Jin whose Dimitar motivation and abilities boils down to weeaboo Shadow the Hedgehog Mallos who's totally hot - bad guy and Nia an angry Welsh cat girl because of course this game has cat girls and in a goofy Pluto situation the cat girl has a pet cat named remark except he's not a pet he's a blade on the rest of the Martin drivers here's an explanation of what blades and drivers are that the game does not do a very good job of giving you so blades are artificial life forms sort of that come from special rocks called core crystals instead of themselves fighting blades draw an energy from the atmosphere and yeet it into the weapons of the driver they are bonded to how do they get bonded well if someone picks up the corpuscle it has enough x-factor oh really then the blade gets fun to them and they become a driver if a driver dies the blade returns to the core crystal until someone else comes along and resonates with their crystal except the blade has no memory of their previous lives after the blade has gone through that cycle an unspecified number of times they become a Titan that people live inside of or on top of then when a Titan dies they release a bunch of new core crystals continuing the cycle anyway dragon grandpa's like amen like look into the job you're taking before me Thalia accepting it the Rex doesn't listen and goes on job anyway you could pull up a sunken ship inside of which contains the aegis the most powerful blade to have ever existed but of course turns out to be a big-titty the enemy waifu named Pyrrha who has two massive and weirdly horizontal hawkers on her chest soon as you find iris sleeping Rex instinctively grabs Pyrus sword and then jin literally steps X in the back killing him short game right and caught [ __ ] wish then pirate brings Rex's soul to the ending of Majora's Mask which apparently is a thing that pirate can do and she agrees to revive him in exchange for escorting her to the World Tree which is a big tree in the center of the world RPG before whether God called the architect lives well also the world is dying because time to dying off too quickly they may may not be enough win time the World Tree Coliseum the whole place where pi dreams of where there's enough flame feminine live on but that's more of a side plot back to the story Rex and Pyrrha agree to team up thus completing the duo of the first results of what happens when you google bad character design the two of them fight Mallos in a tutorial battle that's right the girl is your sword this always works out well in a video game right then Nia decides that she wants more screen time than be a main character so she switches sides and helps Rex on the Rex and pirate niandra Marcus a pyrex is dragon grandpa who swoops didn't catch them all to safety and then he dies just kidding he immediately reincarnates into an in training stage Digimon and right through Rex's helmet the rest of the game and does nothing except withhold really important info and make the occasional pervy comet because why should the main character learn from the consequences of the decisions that affect the ones around them and grow from that the groups in ghormach which is like a big grassy area with high-level enemies wandering around and stop me if you've heard this one before and the niandra market captured by local authorities led by bridgid who's like a blue flame blade who's late for the Met Gala how does Bridgette a blade fight alone without her driver anyways Rex and PI R escape with the help of Tora Annoying chicken guy not to be confused with torna the name of the group of the bad guys or torta the consonant I got destroyed 500 years ago why the game didn't fix the beginner riders mistake of getting two unrelated things similar sounding names I'll never know Taurus says he'll help you save Nia if you help them get the last couple of parts for his robot named poppy an artificial blade he belts his toy doesn't have enough x-factor for a regular blade poppy looks like a little girl and is super strong and Tora has a bunch of french maid outfits for her wait what the photic escape India and remark if I Bridget again except this time she has her driver general varrock from Valkyria Chronicles I me more egg she's the game's best character special Inquisitor for the more our date Empire what does the special Inquisitor do anyways Morag wants to capture pirate to keep anyone from using her power destroy the world which is what everyone says happened 500 years ago and the prequel DLC even though that very much is not what happened in the prequel DLC you win in the gameplay and then you lose in the cutscene get used to that so you end up running away from more agonal the game grab a boat and sail towards the World Tree short game write a [ __ ] wish with nowhere else to go after being banned from competitive mega Rayquaza blocks our path and then Wailord eats their boat this is the plot of the game for the next 30 hours you want to get to the big tree and maybe to a thing but there's a big-ass snake in the way inside the big well that ate them group beats vandamm the leader of the group mercenaries who says he knows someone who might know how you're the giant snake fandom joins the party and hasn't bottoms of their blades and is an older mentor character who offers sage advice to the group and totally isn't going to die anyways band immediately dies while fighting malice again in the second Mouse boss fight during that fight while pirate transforms into her true form Mithra the worst character in all of Cinna blade she's a - - tsundere am I saying that right who simultaneously wearing more and less clothing than Pyrrha she can have visions of the future - only during cutscenes and like in the first game because I guess she'll foul the dmca against them and with Mithras power of calling down orbital strikes like you do the game defeat Mouse again in unusable story battle it's at this point where the zettabyte anime catches up with the Senate late manga so for the next point in 30 hours of the game there are like five separate filler arts 99% of the stuff that happens here does not matter even a little bit nor is it particularly interesting or worth for the drawing except during this section Morag and Bridget join the party they leave the party doing the part of the new department party then Zeke who's literally just unshown in protagonist and his blade Pandora who's just annoying join the party also poppy gets a second forum where she puts on a maid outfit and grows tits wait what the fodder in this large segment of the game the only main plot progression that happens you know getting to the giant tree is I don't know how to get through the giant snake maybe go where's this guy I don't know whether here from the giant snake maybe go ask the evil Pope the Pope and then the Pope named Malthus who's totally not the bad guy says oh I know how to get rid of giant snake but I'm not sure if I'll tell you yet go do some more filler stuff first okay I'll tell you now go talk to Zeke's dead and they have a thing that will get rid of the giant snake we're not gonna help get really giant snake we're gonna capture you instead a few moments late now okay we'll help you get rid of a giant snake but first Oh No our titan is drowning itself and if it goes too far below the clouds see the air pressure will kill us all the thing you need to stop it is the same thing you need to get rid of giant snake that sure is convenient okay we stopped the tightening of dragging itself and we got the thing that we need to get rid of giant snake block on the world tree remember that the main plot me neither Oh No Jenna's crew showed up in this hope you think the thing we need to give her the giant snake and also kidnapped pirate like 20 minutes after her previous kidnapping because Jenkins also questioned her Paris moves his fastest speed of light so we can't even hit him oh yeah flesh eaters like a blade and fans of Tina so that's sort of important really to abandon Pyrrha the rest of the group even though it's like two-thirds the way through the game and pirate literally just sacrificed herself Stressless can get away and is most definitely being tortured right now this this is the guy people wanted me smash for this okay and it finally looks like wreck citizen going by Lana I'm going to leave the card iam literally anyone else can be the main character but unfortunately Lea push wrecks event Brigid punches wrecks for the poppy almost punches wrecks and then wrecks reluctantly agrees to stay god damn it those these days like you'll clearly proven from your recent behavior where you had decided to abandon the team that you're more than he is this and then it going to me direct his hometown to the hero's tomb in the worst section of the game where you can't use a lot of your most powerful attacks which doesn't make the game harder which makes these overly long battles take even longer and then for the boss fight you fight like 50 [ __ ] shadow clones in a row of the protagonist from the prequel tail see gameplay and in the middle of a boss fight neo reveals that she's also a flesh-eater and then she takes all of her clothes off and confesses her love for Rex and his Amelie friendzone and the Rex talk to the DLC guys ghost it was like a Jedi and then the super magic sword that came down here to get vanishes and Rex is like boy know what to do he does not know what to do then the team go to save Pyrrha who was captured because malice is also in Aegis and needs the power of Tyrus poor to repair the damage she took five hundred years when they fought in the prequel DLC you ever turn to full power but they're too late the malice of some but he's got the Bernardo who said wait wood and it's powerful and he uses lose their shop using its back full strength and you like easily beat him I'm kind of glad he showed up though because I'm sorry guys I was falling asleep during the story until now shows up and starts y'all Monday and then that woke me right up but yeah you're easily deep full strength medals in the third [ __ ] bounce boss fight and at the end of it Nia makes mouse's body float up like a balloon which is a very specific type of fetish but I'm sure someone's into it but then like instead of waiting patiently 25 turns for his revenge you fight him again literally like 10 minutes later in the heart [ __ ] mouths boss fight but this time he's with Jin and they've already tortured prior to death but not really because like partway through the fight Rex and pirate and Mithras start talking to each other in their heads and somehow they unlock their third form which is their true form which is Hatsune Miku I [ __ ] wish no it's just called Numa sort of and Numa gives back to the powers of mass to Piper he's the master of all blades because and you beat Jin and Mel's in a tutorial battle but gameplay doesn't matter in this video game only story so then Rex and Jen uses all their power and start having a literal anime side battle that will never accurately be represented via gameplay and even though Jin can move at the speed of light however Rex and Numa are able to move faster than the speed of light because they can rewrite the laws of physics around them and then Ginny mouths raw like all I want to do is kill everyone and kill God and destroy the world because my sort of girlfriend died stop me if you've heard this one before but then malice is all like go break razor and the giant snake you spent the whole game Tony get rid of shows up and starts attacking but that's what but that's when what that's when God shows up no no making any of this up don't [ __ ] shows up he's all like are you bottom [ __ ] I told you I'll show you it's from my neighborhood about the beat your [ __ ] ass and then rayquaza cutting the wings start fighting then in the ensuing fight everyone falls to the bottom of the cloud see short game right I [ __ ] wish because everyone's okay even though literally one chapter ago game went out of its way to set up a fifty Pablo the cloud see you'll die also turns out the Lambo the bounciest birth like regular asks earth but everything's ruined so basically modern day Rochester Rex and myth ripped by the freaking chin and instead of finishing him off us and in the game right then and there and even though not 10 minutes ago he gave some big speech about intending to destroy the world and how nothing can change his mind and said no save him and team up to fight the zombies world of bouncy even though gin helps torture and sort of kill pirate and has killed other people in the story and has tried to kill your whole party multiple times and did kill Rex the game prequel DLC summary so for the past like 40 hours the player has seen random cut scenes from the prequel DLC copy paste it into the main game with zero context of what's happening and not relevant to what's happening in the story when they're being shown but it's here where the people DLC actually starts to matter so here's a quick summary of it basically what had happened was 500 years ago the party was Anoka from fireman fates I mean with her two blades Jin and Sakura Hayes Adam with Mithra and his sort of blade Mel and Hugo marauding Emperor and Morag sort of ancestor with his two blades they all fight in defeat mouse who was trying to blow up the world because the evil part of the Pope was like secretly told him to do it I think since he was malice original driver but during the fight mountains toward the continent of torna and a bunch people died but like most of them were able to evacuate also a Hyuga dies feel ignorant about despite being you know the Emperor oh I'm Milton nice who's Milton koonta and that's pretty much it so back to the main game Rex Smith were asked Jin why he would team up with Mouse even though in the prequel DLC who's part of the crew fighting him and Jin reveals that during the prequel DLCs ending but still off-screen after defeating Mallos the evil pod the Pope and his forces wanting to claim the each's power for himself but he couldn't find them because by then Pyrrha had been sealed in the ship from the start of the game but during the search for the aegis the Pope's troops killed Jin's driver Laura who Jin was maybe in love with but then instead of Laura dying and Jin returned to his core crystal whose mouth memory Jin bores her corpse instead yes really I hate her and that's how he got all his cool light speed powers but because this game has gone on long enough Mao stones could conveniently pick up Jin and fly away and your party completely realized and the entrance the world trees can be located nearby and pirate can conveniently open also these images are taking way too long to mix obviously use cutscene footage for us in summary which is probably what I should have done from the start instead of using the shapes tool in Microsoft PowerPoint cool cool as your prime of the world tree which is like an empty machine on the inside that's when all the game's art assets show up but Bowser is crude trying to drill into the world chief from their ship and the evil Pope the Pope shows up on his dragon country and they start fighting and that's when the evil Pope uses the power of Hayes who's the blade in the prequel deal see and was killed by generally err in the game important he channels her power through this Hillary's in his country let's call over all the Titans and shoot at Mouse's ship but their mouths like ah hell nah and Jinna mouths like hop officer climb a tree another sky Poe transforms a death metal face from zettabyte one don't worry it's just like a design Easter Egg a metal face in the giant country start fighting in the sky and this is all happening like in the background by the way you're just casually walking up the tree but because the evil Pope is granted too much power from the other Titans and putting people who live on them at risk Rex and myth for this time to have poppy file over to the drag country go over the pillars and then fly back then metal face and Dragon country kind of defeat each other also Mick Isles there he's not important on the way back to the architect Jin has a sudden change of heart and tells Mouse to go on without him because so anyways Rex and company catch up to Jin who fights their party one last time and even though he wasn't really trying to beat you I think but right after the battle turns out that off-screen while the dragon country was fighting metal face evil Pope Balthus too accidentally played polymerization infused with his head tied collection but as a big tentacle monster what is this game after you fight him turns out that the power of God and anime is too powerful because giant tentacle monster Pope is still living so Jin sacrifices himself to defeat the big monster slit everyone else can live stop me if you've heard this one before battle speeches the architect first shoots up the mandala gets reflected then leaves those really satisfying anyways the party reaches the top of the world tree which extends into space and then go into a space station when they finally reach Elysium and it's like a space colony but all the plants there and everything is dead it looks like the entire journey was for nothing whoops but there's a church there and since it's clear that some of the party needs Jesus they go investigate and then Rex has to fight alternate angry versions of these party members without pirate or Mithra totally not super easy gets soft locked to your key bench Rex perhaps game use Dragons Den like I did but those fights were actually like sort of a test by the architect the god of this world and then he proceeds to dump a [ __ ] ton of exposition on you and he has the same voices shock from Xenoblade one but he's not sure there's a different reason why they have the same voice that I'm not going to talk about since it ties in a sound led one story but basically here's summary of like the 22 minute cutscene of everything he tells you so the architect was originally a researcher on earth like real earth named Klaus who ran an experiment from a space station to create a new universe in the middle of a war and didn't go well and a woman tried to stop him so he just hit her what [ __ ] and ran the experiment anyway who created two universes one of which is the world in Xenoblade one and the other is the world this one in Xenoblade two and earth got kind of destroyed during the experiment so he created the whole blades which have all the data of all life saved inside of them so they're like USB drives and used the cloud seat to make new land and there were three cores of the CPU that he used to run the experiment one of them was pirate / Mithra / Numa one of them was mouse and the third one was sent to the universe ends only one ie think look he says a lot of things are right most of which don't answer the central questions that the story's been presenting up until this point and instead make things a lot more confusing the important thing is during this entire conversation Mal's has been head towards a on the ultimate Gundam at the top of the top of the world tree and he's gonna use that to alt f4 of the world because that's what he was programmed to doop beep [ __ ] boo-boo and also at the exact same time that this is all happening meanwhile in a good game the party of Xenoblade won in their universe are actually confident and they're about to fight the final boss of their game and when that final boss dies then the architect in this universe will also die so you got a hustle instead of listening at very long exposition dumps you reach metals like one floor above you Mouse has already attack in the world with a budget of Ruby weapons for bio fantasy 7 but I don't know that's not important new axis team is all like hey cut that out and Mouse is all like I am evil because a mouth was was evil and a Malthus was evil because I don't know something about a baby or his mother or war as hell I don't know pick whatever reason you want or just do the other convoluted games do and say the whole thing's a metaphor for games so you fight mouths for the fifth [ __ ] time but this time he's pulled a Shinji and got into the big robot and you easily beat him and then the world tree stops collapsing because but numa's all like get to the escape pod I'll trigger the startup sequence the rexes are like if you stay here you'll die but numa's are like too bad and the party escapes the world tree explodes and collapses some abri it's the parties escape pattern they all stop falling but in his last second alive architect turns dragon grandpa back into his dragon form and the party lands on them and then pirates core lands and returns the wrecks and he awakens both pirate and mithra which apparently is a thing that he can do now and all the Titans begin merging the one continent and that's where the story ends what happens next doesn't matter because of Rex and ka you the player get both pirate and mithra at the same time and they both love you and Nia loves you and Morag respects you and Zeek likes you and Tora looks up to you scheme is bad y'all where's everyone
