brought to you by almond auctions the worldwide leader in antique tractor auctions tucked into the corner of Northwest Missouri is the city of Savannah boyhood home of classic tractor fever's own John Harvey and the current home of this classic a 1966 Massey Ferguson 165 been completely gone through motor everything and done a good job Jean is a really good mechanic and it's got new sleep new Pistons new everything in it that's John long a longtime friend of Jean Taylor leave mechanic behind this Massey masterpiece after Jean suffered a stroke he found restoring tractors was the perfect pastime for him and it wasn't long before John was eyeing this for color beauty he knew I enjoyed it and with him like the same things a lot we've hunted together for 25 years and genes such a good friend and I knew that the tractor was done and done right if anybody else had the tractor up I wouldn't about it equipped with a 12 speed multi power transmission the 165 can crawl along at just over 1 mile an hour or kick it up to nearly 19 miles an hour it's a smooth comfortable ride and with that 4 color paint job you can bet it's a stylish one too well I think there's 4 different colors of paint on it that there's three different colors of silver or gray and the neighbor up to the road here is the one that painted that piece was a body shop man so he knew how to paint the motor was in pretty bad shape when gene got the tractor he completely overhauled the motor new Pistons mailed ahead its bored out the motor is a 1 now everything has been done to that motor could be done I think though weighing in at a tad over 5,000 pounds in its heyday the 165 was considered a versatile tractor just right for hanging or mowing or any farm chore I'd say it was just a general-purpose tractor good short tractor they put loaders on them and they do everything with them they're big enough to pull a hay baler they're close to a 50 horsepower tractor I would say that's got power steering and it's real tight if it rides real good it's got multiple which is kind of like a high and low side which gives a lot more of ground speed more tractor crews it's kind of nice if it's a fast Pratt repairs now how does that masse multi power work let's take a look when you're take-off like in high gear you've got it in the low side and after you get to rollin where you can throw that forward into the high side of the transmission there it gets gives a lot more ground speed today thanks to Jean Taylor's top-notch restoration work this classic tractor is looking good and living the easy life complete with a canopy add-on to make the ride even more comfortable the canopy is an add-on of course this one is a little stronger than most of them it's got more bars in it than a lot of canopies that you see I made Jean throw that in on the deal not in a cap it looks like John got himself a bargain and no doubt these two longtime friends will be talking tractors and keeping the 165 running strong for years to come
