A Filipino Food Experience: No Utensils Required

This is amazing! My name is Javier Fernandez, in the Philippines kuya it means Big Brother and Ja was my nickname. Our specialty here is a pork belly lechon. Pork belly is almost just like bacon, everybody loves bacon yeah you can get Kuya Ja's Lechon belly any day of the week, which honestly I highly recommend. But their traditional Kinamot dinner, it's a special experience. I come from an island called Cebu, we speak Bisaya there. Kinamot means with your hands, to use your hands. Hmm. We're gonna pretty much put up a few tables, banana leaves on the bottom. Okay, that's cool. And put about 15 courses of food right on top, all at once, as everybody eats with their hands. Ja is bringing Cebu to you. And guys it sells out quick and it costs sixty seven dollars. And I'm telling you... you almost want to call it a Kinamot experience, because it's so much more than just dinner. I've almost every single proteinyou can find from sea to land. Here's the thing I don't doubt that anything you're putting out is delicious, I'm just here to learn about all sorts of new food. Awesome, awesome! Alright guys thank you so much for waiting, you guys can go ahead and have a seat now. Let's go! When you come to a Kinamot dinner you don't know who you're gonna be sitting next to, but by the end I promise you, you're pretty much best friends. It's like, not sure, if you should sit or stand or wait for everyone to get here. Yeah, it's hard to make that mahogany crispy skin. There's so many different... What's the secret? There's so many different ways. There's a Chinese ways, as I'm sure, You said you're from Puerto Rico... I'm sure you guys have you're versions of it. Heck yeah, I remember my Abuelo had his whole lechon pit in the backyard growing up. It was a family experience. Yep. To come around, it was every birthday, every holiday. It's almost like a event as well it is did you eat earlier today or is this your only meal okay ah diong hey nice to meet you thank you guys for coming out tonight it's a full house so you know we really appreciate that but we wanted to share this tradition you guys so before we have do a Spanish utensils so are you texting through their hands that's the challenge today there is no I didn't even think it's where I should have done short sleep and I'm not sure that it will she said oh my god you actually got through the meet and got to alright these were everything! favorite favorite part even though the food was amazing This crew was kind of the best!
