A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MENNONITE MOM / SPEND THE DAY WITH ME

hello everyone and thanks so much for joining me today and welcome to a day in my life we're just gonna go ahead and get [Music] started so this morning i'm actually making a cornbread salad for a function that we have going on later today and so i'm just going to go ahead and get that made right away so that's done and here i'm just frying up some butter getting it browned and then here is a jiffy like the cornbread mix that i'm getting out getting ready to mix up [Music] and then once the butter is browned like i want it to be i'm going to pour it here in this little pan and then we're just going to set that aside for just a little bit and then over here with the cornbread mix we are going to just add in some spices and some water and then we're going to mix it up and then put it on top of the browned butter before we bake it [Music] all right and next we're going to work on the dressing for the salad and that includes some miracle whip [Music] and then also some sour cream [Music] and lastly the ranch dressing mix and we're just going to mix that up and then that's good to go and while i'm waiting for the cornbread mix to bake the ups driver just came and i've been waiting on this for so long and i'm so excited for it to come never mind all the boxes there but what i'm looking for is this rug i've been waiting for it to come for a while now i'm so excited to have it now so i'm just gonna go ahead and bring all the boxes in and chloe wanted to help me which was very sweet out here but first of all before i put out the rug i just wanted to come in here in the bathroom and just clean up and wipe down the sinks with the method all-purpose cleaning wipes these are great for just an everyday wipe for the sinks the countertops and so forth and so i'm just going to do that really quick get the bathroom a little bit cleaner get it in a better shape and by the way if you are looking for some good cleaning products i always go to grow for my cleaning products um they're great they have wonderful cleaning products and if you're interested there is a link in the description box that you can get five free cleaning products with your first purchase of twenty dollars which is great and i just really like their cleaning products and the things that they have they have more than just cleaning products but that's mainly what i get there and then i'm just going to use the clorox cleaning bowl the bowl cleaner here for the toilet and then lastly i'm going to spray this cauldrea room spray in here just to freshen it up a bit and this is also from grove so now here the bathroom is just refreshed and cleaned up a little bit um i didn't majorly clean but just mostly just wipe down the countertops and just get it smelling better again [Music] that's done i'm gonna go down in my etsy shop i have a couple packages that i need to get packaged up and first of all here is this pillow that you'll see me packaging and i try to ship off every day if i can whenever i have orders come in i try to ship them off within 24 hours if i at all can just because i like to get my orders out as soon as possible i know that's important to my customers to get their items as soon as possible i know that's something that i look for when i'm getting an ownership to me and so i like to do the same for my customers so we're just going to package this here in this box with some tissue paper and add in my business card here for my etsy shop and also just a little thank you sticker and then we're going to tape it shut and as you see there in the corner my dymo printer has printed out the shipping label and they look so nice i just got this thing a month or so or so ago and i love it it makes it look so nice so we're back here with the salad and my cornbread is done it's cooled it's ready to go i have my pan here's corn beans we have kidney beans and black beans we have the cheese peppers the dressing and the tomatoes and then also the cornbread and lastly we have bacon so to get this started off with we are going to start with the cornbread and i'm just going to divide this in half kind of however i can here and then we're going to put that on the bottom of the pan and just even that out across the bottom of the pan and then next we're going to do the same with the beans just kind of do half approximately and next we're going to do the dressing and i put this in a plastic bag and then cut a hole in the one corner just so it would be easier to squeeze out and i can get it spread a little bit more evenly across the whole pan it just makes it a little bit easier and then next we have the corn again just do half of this and then next is the tomatoes [Music] and then the bacon bits the peppers and i cut up way more peppers than i needed but that's okay i'll use them for something else so i'm just gonna eyeball it just put out what i think it needs and then lastly we're gonna add cheese [Music] and then we're just gonna do the whole process over again um basically making two layers of everything and this salad is such a yummy salad especially for summer i think it's so summery and i like to make this like at least a couple hours beforehand before we're eating it i just think it tastes better the dressing has kind of soaked through the salad and i just think the flavor goes through it a little bit better if you leave it sitting for a while in the [Music] fridge and here is the salad all done it looks so good i can't wait to eat some of it a little later on but we're just gonna put it in the fridge for now and we're going to go ahead and get started with lunch right away i have some olive oil in the pan here with some minced garlic and then i'm going to just add in some chicken and i apologize for the filming my camera battery had died so i'm trying to use my phone and very interesting to film and try to make lunch at the same time but anyways um here's the chicken i'm gonna get that all fried up and then just add in some seasonings um whatever i'm feeling which was the montreal steak seasoning and then just some salt [Music] and then i also wanted some shrimp so we're just gonna fry up some shrimp really quick i had some in the freezer and we're just gonna do that and then i wrapped it in a tortilla shell with some cheese and i put it in the pan again and just fry it on both sides a little bit just to give it a little more crunch and then we also steamed some carrots so this is lunch and it was good [Music] and then next we are just going to go ahead and get the kitchen cleaned up with the dishes that i was using and starting by just getting all the dishes cleared off the countertop put in the dishwasher and just gets things straightened up [Music] again [Music] and chloe had so much fun watching our neighbor guys mow this little section of field in front of our house it was fun looking out the window and watching them and i figured jameson would enjoy if i would film them since he wasn't here today so here they are just mowing the grass up front here and they got it done in no time at all [Music] [Music] [Music] so here comes the fun part we are going to get that rug out and see how it looks here in the living room and i'm just going to move some furniture away so we can get it put out right and this box head came a couple days ago already and i was just waiting on the other one to come today so i'm looking forward to getting these put out and see what they look like and these are from amazon i will try to link them below i'm not sure if they're still available or not i will see if i can find them and link them for you so as you can tell this rug is huge um it's like a 9 by 12 i believe so it covers um a fair amount of the living room which is kind of what i wanted and then we're just gonna put the smaller one over here on this side of the living room and then i just wanted to sweep them off really quick before i put them under the couch and put them where i wanted them it was really wrinkly and i'm not sure how i'm going to get all these wrinkles out but we're going to try once it is pretty light i'm not sure how this is going to go i'm scared i'm just going to get it stained up with children coming in and out you know how it goes but we'll see once maybe i'll need to invest in a good carpet cleaner um yeah we'll see once but then i had a load of towels that i needed to just fold and get put away so i'm just going to work on that really quick [Music] all right and now we are going to work on this box here now this is lamar's birthday gift something that he's been wanting for a while and it is one of those big wind chimes um it's an amish made wind chime from indiana and it's one of those that sound i just think they sound so nice and just so calming so i'll just show you what it looks like here here on the top um it's just here is the hook where you hook it up and then the round top part here is like a poly material so it it should be very weather resistant and last a long time out here um on the deck or wherever we keep it and the tubes themselves are like they're metal but the finish on them is like like a hammered metal paint i'm not sure how to explain it you can kind of see here on camera how it looks just a very pretty sleek finish and then here the striker here in the middle is also the poly material and they have their store name engraved here [Music] and then the wind catcher here on the bottom is also the poly material [Music] just a very sleek and nice finish to it and they also do engrave these here on the bottom for like gifts or something would be nice if you would want to do that and then here's the store where i got it my bright country chimes and the model that i got is the dream maker i'm just going to go ahead and hang it back here on the back deck for now this is not where it's going to stay but i just wanted to hang it back here um just until the market's home and see if he notices it when he comes home and then we'll figure out where we want to put it long-term [Music] [Music] [Music] and then after that me and chloe we went out to get the mail at the mailbox and so
