- Good morning, guys! Marybeth with Rover's Makeover. Today, I have a extremely, extremely matted dog, the most matted dog that I have ever done in my 11 years of grooming. It's gonna be a challenge. I am going to be wearing
gloves, I took off my watch. I'm gonna be wearing a mask, just because of the shape
that this dog is in. It's pretty bad. And so I want to protect myself
as I take care of this dog. This is a free groom that I am doing. I know a lot of you are
quick to judge the owners, but you don't know their situation. You know, you don't know if
they just found this dog. And they actually said that
they just found this dog. They don't even know
what kind of dog it is because they can't tell
what kind of dog it is. So we're gonna get her shaved down and hopefully get her feeling much better. If you guys will please take
note of how she is acting, her personality and all
that before we shave her and then look at her and look how she acts after the haircut. Usually there's a big difference. And that's one of the main
reasons that I do this. So here's what she looks like. Okay, so I'm just gonna
give you guys a full view of everything before we start. Okay, there's matting up by her eyes. She can barely see, there's matting here. There's matting here. All this back here is one big solid mat. Here's another mat. This is all solid matting. It's pretty bad. Her tail is one big solid mat. Here's the other side, one big solid mat. This is all matted in here. It's all one solid, you know,
here's some more matting. The legs are matted,
matting behind the ears. So we're gonna get started on her. I did not realize this dog was this bad. It didn't look this bad in
the pictures that they sent. And this is gonna take me a
while to get all this off. She may need some breaks, but I'll do whatever the dog needs. And we're just gonna get started. I made sure to put in a new
battery and a new memory card. So I'm not having to change anything in the middle of this groom. She's really good. I haven't had to put the loop around her. We don't need a 30 blade. We're gonna do a 10 blade. Not even gonna try a seven, guys. (clippers buzzing) Put the trash can over here. I'll be able to tell more
of the breed that she is when we get all this shaved off. Kind of wanna go slow so we can check the skin for any injuries. When they go from super matted like this to having nothing on, it is a
major shock to their system. So you may see her shaking. You may see her scratching, 'cause it's a big change
to go from heavy mats, covering your entire body to... Come here! (Marybeth kissing) To nothing. It's a big change. It's a big shock to the body. So the owners found this dog. This is not due to owner neglect like most assume. They found this dog and it
was in this kind of shape. A lot of people are having
a rough time right now, and so that's why I do the free grooms. You're okay. Just gonna get off what
I can easily right now, and then we'll work on the more difficult. Sometimes when you have
severe matting like this, we will find skin that has been bruised. We will find, you know,
infections and openings or bugs. It just, yeah. You kind of have to prepare yourself. Feels good, huh, girl,
to get all that off? (clippers buzzing) It feels good, huh? Does that feel good? Feel good to get all that off? It's like a fricking turtle shell. It is so warm under here. I'm gonna stop and take
a picture real quick. Okay. (clippers buzzing) I know, girl, I know, I know. I know. (Marybeth kissing) (dog panting) You're okay, I know you
know I'm helping you, huh? What do you smell? What do you smell? She does smell pretty bad, but that's nothing shocking to me. I'm gonna have to go down. I'm gonna go down to a 30 blade. (clippers buzzing) You're okay. Go back to a 10 blade. (clippers buzzing) I'm gonna turn you this way, girl. Turn this way, there we go. (clippers buzzing) Come here, you're okay. These gloves make holding
the clipper more difficult because the gloves are slippery. So it's taking more hand strength. It's wearing my hand out a lot faster. (clippers buzzing) Stand up. (clippers buzzing) Ooh, good catch! Ooh, I bet that feels so
good to get all that off. Look at that, guys, like going from this. (clipper buzzing) Just switching blades. (clipper buzzing) You're a good girl, yeah, good girl! You're already acting different. You guys have to remember
that this is painful, like they pull on the skin. So when I'm doing this, I'm going slow, I'm not forcing my blade
to go through anything. If it doesn't go through,
then I back off and try again. (clipper buzzing) I am going to save this and weigh it, because this is heavy. That is heavy for the dog
to be carrying around. (clipper buzzing) Change to a 30 blade. You're okay, girl, I'm
gonna get this off of ya. (clipper buzzing) Do not use a 30 blade on
a regular groom, guys. This is a surgical blade and
I'm using it because I need to. I know, girl, I know, I know, I know. She's licking me, which is a warning, "Hey, it's kinda hurting." I know, I know, I know. (clipper buzzing) Once we get this off, the
groom won't take that long. 'Cause she'll be short. But we gotta get all this off first. I know, I know, girl. Okay, so this leg is free. This was around that leg. (phone chiming) Okay, just like that. (clipper buzzing) (Marybeth sighing) (clipper buzzing) (phone chiming) This tail, man, oh my goodness. (Marybeth sighing) Oh, okay, I'm gonna take this out. (Marybeth sighing) (clipper buzzing) All right, I'm gonna have to go down. (clipper buzzing) Yes, these blades will be
disinfected before they go back in the blade holder. I know, girl, I'm sorry. (Marybeth sighing) (clipper buzzing) (clipper buzzing) I'm gonna have to take
a break in a minute. My back is killing me. (Marybeth sighing) I think the end of her
tail is up here somewhere and all that's just matting. I know, baby girl, I know. 'Cause there's no way that
her tail is this long. It doesn't match her body. (clipper buzzing) I'ma change blades. (Marybeth sniffling) (clipper buzzing) I know, I know, I know, I'm sorry, girl. (clipper buzzing) I know, I know, I know,
we're almost to the end. I know. (clipper buzzing) So I wanna make it very clear, because in the last super
matted dog video I did, people were telling me that I needed to get my blades sharpened and that I need sharper scissors. This has nothing to do with
the sharpness of my blades. My blades are super sharp. This is because the hair
is so matted to the skin that my blade cannot get down to it. (clipper buzzing) I know, girl, I know. Your personality is changing, you're trying to thank me for helping you. I know. But your face in my face
makes me a little nervous. (dog groaning) Okay, if you're gonna lay down then, yeah, that's fine, lay down. (clipper buzzing) Oh, man. (clipper buzzing) (clipper buzzing) So if you guys are new here,
you're watching this video because the dog is super matted, welcome. My name is Marybeth. I have owned Rover's for about
two and a half years now. I've been grooming 11 years. My friend Lydia and I do
a homeless street outreach on the weekends. All the stuff that we pass out and use are from subscribers and
viewers like yourself. All the information to that is down below. We do have a YouTube channel
dedicated just to the outreach. If you're interested in
seeing that, it's down below. The wishlist for that is also down below. But I like to give free grooms when I can. So I may have a slow week here and there. And so I post and then I
groom these dogs for free because this one obviously needs it. (clipper buzzing) Oh my goodness. So when I get done, you
guys may see some red spots here and there. That is just because the mats
were so tight to the skin that I kind of have to dig a little bit to be able to get underneath that hair. I think we're almost to the end of... You got itchies, huh? Is it itching? Itching, huh? We're gonna get you a good
bath in a minute, girl. I promise you that. You're okay. You're okay. (clipper buzzing) (clipper buzzing) Okay, I'm gonna give her
a tail a rest a minute. And I'm gonna do her face so we can actually see
what she looks like. (clipper buzzing) That's big mats. You're okay. Okay, I'm gonna come under here first. You're okay, good girl. Come here, girl. Come here, you're okay, come here. I just wanna see your... (clipper buzzing) I was trying to see your face. (phone chiming) Hi! It's nice to see you! You look so much better already! You can see now! Hi! You're okay. Good girl. You're okay. You're okay. I'm just gonna go down to a 30 blade. It'll go so much quicker just
to get that off of there, 'cause it's a shorter blade. You're okay. Hey, hey, hey, look. (Marybeth kissing) Hi, you're fine! Just gonna get this off of you real quick. Hi! You can see now! (Marybeth scratching) Does that feel better? (dog groaning) Oh, yeah, ooh. It feels so good to get
all that off, doesn't it? All right, go back to the tail. (clipper buzzing) Hi! You're okay, I know, I know, I know. Your personality's already changing. You're so much happier! You lay down though, okay? And get this done. (clipper buzzing) Change back to a 10. That tail's gonna take a minute, so. Wanna stand up? Just wanna get this. Okay, there's a big
mat, there's a big mat. Good girl! You're good, you're fine. Can you stand up? (Marybeth sighing) Stand up, you got it. I know, I know, stand up. There you go. (clipper buzzing) You're okay, good girl. Easy! (phone chiming) (clipper buzzing) I know, I know. You're okay. (clippers squeaking) Put some oil on my blade. (clipper buzzing) That high pitch squeak noise is telling me that it needs oil. And it's because I'm doing a dog this bad. You're okay. You're okay. (clipper buzzing) Hi! Okay, I'm gonna switch to a 30 blade. (Marybeth hiccuping) (clipper buzzing) Easy, baby girl, you're
gonna fall off the table. (Marybeth sighing) Do not use your good scissors
for doing this, guys. And you need to make sure
you know where the tail is before you come in and cut. (scissors snipping) (scissors snipping) So. Look at that. That is crazy. Oh my goodness. (clipper buzzing) (scissors snipping) I wanna make it very clear that I'm not just coming in
here haphazardly cutting. You're okay, girl. (clipper buzzing) (clipper buzzing) I knew the tail was gonna
be the most difficult thing when I saw the dog. (scissors snipping) I think we're almost to the end. The end shouldn't be right there. I know, girl, I know, I know. Come here. Sit, sit, sit. Baby girl, you gotta come back over here. (Marybeth shuddering) It grosses me out touching that. (Marybeth chuckling) (clipper buzzing) (clipper buzzing) I know, girl, I know it hurts. We're almost to the end. (scissors snipping) (clipper buzzing) Oh my goodness. (scissors snipping) (Marybeth sighing) (clipper buzzing) I know, girl, I'm sorry. I'm doing the best I can to get this off. (scissors snipping) (clipper buzzing) I wish you had a shorter tail. I know, baby girl, we're almost done. (clipper buzzing) I hope. All right, I'll give you
a break for a little bit and do up here. (clipper buzzing) You're okay. (phone chiming) Switch to the other 30 blade. (clipper buzzing) You're okay. Okay. (Marybeth sighing) Just gonna give her a little
bit of a break real quick, 'cause we're almost done. All right. (clipper buzzing) I know, girl, we're almost done hopefully. Why does your tail have
to be so long, huh? (clipper buzzing) Oh my goodness. (scissors thudding) (clipper buzzing) Girl, you gotta come back over here. I gotta be able to reach. Okay, I'll come over here then. (clipper buzzing) We're almost done, I think! I think I found the end of your tail! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! I knew that wasn't all your tail. (clipper buzzing) (phone chiming) Okay. Oh my goodness. Up, stand up. I gotta make sure everything's done. We got one mat back here. (clipper buzzing) All right, woo-hoo! So what I'm gonna do is
I'm gonna put all this fur on top of here. And then we're gonna go weigh it. I know some of her hair
is on the floor and stuff, but we'll get a close estimate of just exactly how much extra weight she was carrying around. I'll clean everything on her in the tub. I'm just gonna put her
in a cage real quick. And then we'll get her bathed. Okay. This is not light, guys. So that says two pounds. So I'm estimating about two
and a half pounds of fur that she was carrying around. So I'm gonna take some pictures real quick with this for thumbnail, and
then we'll get her in the bath. So when I take pictures for thumbnails, I always take a whole bunch. That way I have a selection to pick from. I try to figure out which
one's gonna get the most views. Sometimes I'm not successful at that. Sometimes it's the YouTube
algorithm, but it is what it is. So we're gonna get this girl bathed today. I am using the Bark 2
Basics Honey Almond scent. For those of you new here,
I have a bathing system. It is the Sav-Ur-Fur bathing system. This is diluted shampoo. When groomers get shampoo,
it is concentrated. We have to dilute it in water and then it applies better to the dog. This gets sucked up, it
mixes with more water, and then comes out more diluted, and it makes the bathing
process 100 times easier. Gonna do the ears real quick. I am going to take my gloves off. I cannot feel hair in the
ears that I can not see. The reason we pluck the hair out is to allow the ears to breathe. It can help prevent ear infections. The white powder I'm
using helps grip the hair because a lot of times
it's slippery from ear wax. So with the bathing system, (chain clanking) it allows me to do everything at once. When you hand bathe,
you have to wet the dog, lather the dog, rinse the dog and repeat. With the bathing system,
I don't have to do that. With the bathing system, the soapy water is continuously
running over the dog, washing away the dirt and debris. So I'm gonna get these feet wet
first, since they are dirty. Get them started soaking, and
then we'll start bathing her. Huh, girl? So like as I'm scrubbing,
it's washing away that dirt and oil and the nastiness. It's not sitting on the
coat like it would with the, like if you're hand bathing. So it's getting the dog cleaner
faster and more efficiently. I am not sponsored by anyone, nor have I ever been sponsored by anyone. I would love to be
sponsored by Sav-Ur-Fur, but they have never reached out to me. Really want to get this area clean. In matted dogs, the private
areas generally are pretty bad. So I'm just gonna look in here real quick. Yeah, see how red that is? So just going to make sure to
get that washed really well. Okay, we're gonna get the feet. And the feet. Okay. We're gonna turn it to rinse, and then I'm gonna get her face wet. And I have some blueberry
facial here that is premixed, that I have diluted, so
it's easier to go on. (chain clanking) This is tearless. (chain clanking) Okay, we're gonna rinse. Girl, can you wait a minute? Sure everything is rinsed. Okay. I'm gonna dry you guys off first. (towel scratching) Make sure you can still see. We're gonna get her in the cage dryer. She won't take very long to
dry because she's so short. Guys, do not skimp on your
products, your towels, anything. I have now gone to an all inclusive, which I don't think anybody
around here does that, but it's everything is
included at one price. I started that January 1st. I don't charge extra for
anything else right now. So if a dog says it's $55, it's $55 regardless if it's matted or it has undercoat or whatever. (fans whirring) So when she's dry, we'll get her finished! Okay, so I'm gonna go ahead and apologize. There's a four and a half month
old puppy that is barking. So, if you guys don't
want to listen to that, you might wanna turn your sound off. And, of course, as soon as I
say that, she stops barking. We're just gonna get this girl finished. Get her shaved down all the way. It's not gonna look 100%, because in here, I had to go shorter than
what the actual blade is, so it'll look a little
choppy here and there, but definitely 100 times better than what it was. (puppy howling) (puppy howling) You're okay, buddy. Easy, easy, girl. Easy. (puppy howling) (puppy howling) I could come in here
with the seven reverse, but even in here where I
had to use the 30 blade, it's still gonna look choppy. And that's just because
I had to dig so much to get underneath that turtle shell. (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (nail clipper snipping) Okay, we're just gonna (puppy howling) change to a 30 blade with these feet. (clipper buzzing) Easy, easy, girl. See? (clipper buzzing) This one has mats in it. Easy, girl, you're okay. (puppy howling) (puppy howling) (dog panting) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (clipper buzzing) (puppy howling) 10 blade again. (puppy barking) Come over here. (Marybeth kissing) Come over here. (clipper buzzing) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (clipper buzzing) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) (puppy barking) No, no, no. (nail clipper snipping) Easy. (clipper buzzing) All right. Easy. Come on, girl. We're almost done. Hey, hey, hey, you're fine. It's matted. (puppy barking) Yeah, I know, I know. Let me see. What were you just stuck? Girl. (dog whimpering) Stop, I'm just trimming, hey! This is what I mean by
their demeanor changes. Hey, I'm not doing anything. I'm just holding your hand. (dog whimpering) (clipper buzzing) (dog whimpering) (clipper buzzing) Sit. (Marybeth humming) (clipper buzzing) (clipper buzzing) I think I'm gonna take a seven. (clipper buzzing) Just clean this face up a little more. Girl! I'm gonna clean some of
this up a little bit. So it doesn't look so choppy. Just real quick, it
doesn't have to be perfect. The main thing was to get
all that matting off of her, but I do wanna clean this
up just a little bit. So it doesn't look so choppy. (clipper buzzing) (Marybeth sighing) Stop! All right. So now what I'm gonna do is just get all of this
hair off the table. (clipper buzzing) And we're gonna take an after picture over here. 'Cause you look like a
completely different dog! (clipper buzzing) So here's what she looks like. (clipper buzzing) Wait! Not 100% perfect, but it's
definitely much better, much, much better than it was, so. Do you feel better? Do you feel better? All right, guys. Thanks, guys, for watching. Don't forget to check
out the links down below. I do have a Amazon storefront
for anyone that is interested in any of the grooming
supplies that I have used. My daughter, who is four, we also have a, my daughter and I also
have a personal wishlist that is listed down below,
if you guys, you know, would like to purchase
anything off of that for us. And I hope you guys enjoyed this video! And I will see you guys next time.
Sure did watch this whole video (using the 15 sec skip a lot). So satisfying! What a sweet puppy and what an amazing groomer!
Holy shit, there was actually a dog under all that fur!
