In today's video we're sharing our cozy weekend
in rural England, we give you a tour of our Airbnb in the beautiful English countryside,
we take you to the attractive town of Corbridge and finally to Blanchland which is one of
the prettiest villages in the north of England. Today we headed to Northumberland to spend
a very cozy weekend in one of the most rural and beautiful parts in the north of England.
This is very close to the Scottish border, the Hadrian's Wall is around the corner and
countryside is stunning. And we're staying at Swinburne Castle which actually isn't a
castle but it's a very big house. And it dates back to the 18th century. Parts of it maybe
are much older but we don't know. But the part we're staying at is actually Georgian,
isn't it? Yes it's Georgian. It's yeah, there once was a Georgian house, they've demolished
parts of it yeah, but the part what we're seeing in is actually from the 18th century.
Yes. And we found this wonderful place via Airbnb. We thought we would start by giving
you a little tour of our room and then later on explore parts of Northumberland we haven't
really seen before. Yeah. Okay, come on. We just had an encounter with the three dogs
here and they are all super friendly. But we have 10 degrees so it's quite chilly. And in front of us is the east wing and we're
staying on the left. And this is a very very beautiful part of the house I think. Okay,
and this is us. Now, let's go upstairs. Okay, we have a lovely little hallway I would
call it. And this is our beautiful double bedroom and it's so peaceful and quiet. We
absolutely love it. And the good thing is it's so private. So they have two rooms available,
one double and a twin. And because we're staying here and it's just one bathroom, the other
bedroom is empty. So it's super quiet and we love it. And we have the most amazing view
towards the Northumberland countryside. It's so beautiful. We had breakfast here. Everything
is provided for. We had tea, toast, fruit. Here's the bed. It's so cozy and comfy and
we are in love with all the fabrics. And you have to stay tuned because we will share more
of that in the next video. So for those of you who are obsessed with gorgeous English
fabrics and wallpaper, there will be more to come. But now let me take with my code
first. And as you can see wonderful antique furniture. It's really really lovely. You know what?
We even have whiskey. Jörg, you have to try tonight. There's even a vanity over here. Vanity. We have plenty of storage space although
we're only staying for 2 nights. And you know what? I think I need to show you the other
bedroom as well. It's not completely prepared because there's no one in it but you get an
idea because it's honestly really really lovely. Come on Jörg. But I forgot. Here's the bathroom
in case you want to see it. With lovely old school fabrics. There's such
a beautiful chair here with a wonderful English fabric that I think you will really love as
well. But now let me show you the other bedroom. Okay. This is a very big room. Now this is the twin bedroom and as you can
see it's wonderful. Such gorgeous wallpaper and fabric. And I really love the fireplace.
I mean it it is no longer working but it's such a beautiful feature. Again beautiful
antique furniture, wonderful pictures throughout. And yeah, we have, both rooms have coffee
and tea stations. You can prepare your own toast. I think all the fabrics and pattern,
it goes so well together and looks adorable. And I think if you're looking for a very nice
place that isn't too expensive and want to have some peace and quiet you can find great
places via Airbnb. And yeah, we're so happy we came across this and we can really recommend
it. It's so beautiful. Just, we we woke up this morning and looking out the full window
we said 'this is beautiful'. We're now in Corbridge which is an English
Heritage Roman town and it was actually recommended to us because there is a shop called RE Founds
or Refounds. And they do have a little bit of unusual household items so we want to have
a look and try to film a little bit. And some streets here look like out of a Dickens novel
so we want to try and film that as well. Do you know that this tower where you are standing
now is actually, it has a micro pub inside. There's a tiny pub in it. Where? Did you know
that? Inside of the tower. Look. The, how would you pronounce it? The
Pele. Pele? Pele yeah. Micro pub. Because it's called Vicar's Pele. Yes. And the Tower
is, it was built about 1300. So it's currently closed but I think they
have a huge selection of gin as well. And this is it. Let's have a look. This is a great place, isn't it? Yeah. They
have new things but also vintage vintage things. Oh I saw that on the internet and I actually
really love it. This is great. For matches. So how much is this? Is it - 26.50. 26.50.
I always need a hot water hustle in winter but um, these are tiny ones. What did you think about the shop Jörg? It
was funny, quirky, interesting. Very quirky. I think if you're looking for a present that's
the place to go. Yeah. It's a bit hidden but there were lots of people and I think we should
put the link down below in the info box - yeah, we'll do that - in case you're in the area
because we absolutely loved it. And we show you what we bought back in the room tonight. Over there is an amazing bakery. Patisserie.
It was just, it was so busy but we're going to another tea room, right? Yeah. To because
you saw something and they have gluten-free gluten-free options so. Okay, this is called Massey's tea room. Okay. We finally made it to Blanchland and I honestly
can't believe it because what you should know is I always make a list which places to visit.
Yeah because she knows them. I don't know. So you, Jörg actually didn't have a clue
about this place. No, I wasn't aware that it existed. What do you think? It's beautiful.
It's one of the prettiest villages in the north of England. I would actually call it
picture postcard. It's a beautiful village. Yeah, it is. Yes. This is the White Monk Tea
Room and it used to be the village school. And all of the houses were built by using
stones from the demolished abbey. Yes. And Blanchland Abbey was built in 1165 - yes but
under Henry VIII it was - yeah, dissolved - dissolved - and demolish. And this is the
most important place here. The Lord Crewe Arms. Lord Crewe Arms yes. It's a pub. Yeah,
that's where we're going to have dinner tonight. Yes. It's a historic pub and it also has 21
bedrooms. This is the front of the pub and the house was originally built as the abbot's
lodge. It's a lovely pub to stay. I checked the rooms about three years ago and they are
lovely. If you love the countryside, hiking, enjoy long walks, it's first perfect. And
we just checked, these are the rooms belonging to the pub. They all have different names.
Yes. What's it? Frasers Hush, Hatford's Hush. Let's have dinner at The Lord Crewe Arms.
Come on Jörg. We just had some drinks at the bar and I don't
know, the restaurant is upstairs but down here it's so cozy. I'd love to sit here. I
don't know. I don't think it's possible but the fire here. Oh. This is just right up my
street. Our dinner looks so good. This is pork loin and Jörg has got flat iron steak. Yeah. That's the name. And
these are truffle - and parmesan. Truffle and parmesan fries. Yeah. Enjoy. It looks
amazing. As always this man can't help himself. Why
should he? So what are you having here? It's vanilla and buttermilk Panna Cotta. It looks
good I must admit so I'm a tiny bit jealous but you deserve it. What's it like? What's it like? Really good. We have to get comfy now. All cozy in bed
any minute now. And regarding dinner, I think it was very good. It was very good yeah. We
can really recommend it. It was amazing. Food is very very nice. And the village is lovely.
And we need to show you what we bought and this is what we do now before we end this
video because we almost forgot. Yeah, yeah, it's time to go to bed. Almost. I I actually
have fancy cup of tea before I go to bed. I'm going to bed now. You're not a grandpa.
We need a cup of tea first. Yeah you I don't need it. Oh no, you have the whiskey. Maybe
I'll try one. See. I forgot about that. There's there's whiskey behind Jörg. We fell really
in love with this one. And this will will be in our attic room. Yeah. Jörg decided
that when we got it. So this, what's it called? Match strike. Look. Ah, we have two now. It's
fine. Jörg especially wanted to buy matches and well, there was, they were included. Café
Paris. Absynthe au comptoir. Match strike. I think this will look wonderful
in our attic room. And what you do is - yeah, do you want to use one now? Sure. I'll have
to show. Yeah, that's true. Okay. I think it's like this. Yes. See, it works. Yes. And
this is something for our kitchen. An addition to what we already have. And. A small bowl. That's that's Mason Cash. Yeah.
And we thought that it would be great for baking. It's so, it's so cute. I find it really
cute. And last but not least this heart-shaped wooden spoon. Great finds. And this was our
cozy day. And we enjoyed it very much. We did. And we hope you did as well. We think
you can be very excited for for the next video. Yeah, you should be. Yes, it will be very
special. So thank you so much for watching and until next time. Bye. Bye. Bye bye. Someone
is already in bed and I can I can hardly see him. Good night my love. Good night. Sleep
well. Feeling all cozy? Hmm.
