7 Super CHEAP Cars Faster Than My SUPERCAR

i don't know if you guys noticed but i just got my very first supercar i'm pumped and it is awesome it's v8 powered it has a gated manual shifter because hashtag save the manuals it's mid engine and it is a supercar but it does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds which at the time was fast but in today's standards it's not as fast as it was 12 years ago plus it does the nurburgring in eight minutes in one second and again for its time it was fast but today i think like a honda civic does it that fast anyway i love every minute of driving it and i love how it turns heads and makes me feel like i'm the center of attention but i know there's people out there who believe speed means everything luckily i'm not one of them but if i'm super honest there are some really surprising cars that are faster and cheaper than this beautiful audi that i became the steward of what's up guys i'm brad and hit that subscribe button if you're new and buckle up and let's go [Music] we have to do is mention cheap cars that are faster than supercars and you know that the jdm fanboys will start foaming at the mouth and for good reason too see there's this little car from nissan that came out in the 90s and it was so good at slaying supercars despite being half the price that it earned the nickname godzilla yes it's the r32 skyline gtr and its younger sibling was a bit fatter and a lot faster [Music] the r33 skyline gtr spec v debuted in 1993 which means it's well old like me and 15 years older than my r8 but there's a butt for every seat if you got them both on the track i'd be struggling to keep up and that's a real testament to how good the r33 really is and why it's such a legendary car today especially with the v-spec which has extra suspension mods a more advanced all-wheel drive system and over 300 horses now stock it has a 0 to 60 time of 4.8 seconds which is pretty respectable but not quite as fast as my r8 but where it really shines is as a complete package you see the r33v spec was able to do the nurburgring in under eight minutes which is a hair faster than the audi for half the price well at least when they were new they were half the price and since r33s are now more than 25 years old you can import them into the good old usa so how much do you got to spend on a spec v today well here's one that i found on bring a trailer that sold for about 20 000 bucks less than i spent on the r8 and yes i know this is what squid would have picked but would have you let us know in the comments and hit the like button if you're enjoying this vid so far because what i got was a beautiful german luxury with a screamin v8 or what i could have gotten was an old turbocharged all-wheel drive japanese icon or maybe something with a lot more cylinders guess what guys the v10 bmw m5 has entered the chat they may not look it but they are fast like 0 to 60 and 4.2 seconds fast that's all thanks to the f1 inspired engine putting out 500 freaking horsepower and they sound amazing i don't think they sound as good as the audi v8 with a custom exhaust but who knows and i definitely wouldn't trade that gated manual shifter for an extra two cylinders and if you want to save the manuals go snag our best-selling idlc up here but i have to admit that the m5 is the most understated four-door supercar in existence plus they are cheap as hell here's a beauty great example with under 100 000 miles on it for just 25k yes it has the glass smg transmission and i don't think i have to tell you that 25k is a lot less than i spent on the audi but you could buy an r33 and this bmw and you'd almost break even for what i paid for the r8 now remember these are cars that are faster than the r8 although they're not cars that are more reliable and you will be replacing major components on that m5 like every single day in order to avoid going bankrupt at the bmw dealer you may want to look for a more reliable company out there and pick up a screaming hot hatch it's called the honda civic type r and i'm pretty sure that you and me and everybody that's not subscribed knows exactly what this is because uh well you watched the video squid made about the type r right i know i did and you're missing out if you haven't and since you watched that video we don't have to explain that it's the latest generation of one of automotive's most prestigious lineages right all we have to do is say 7 minutes and 43 seconds and you know exactly what we're talking about yes that is a sub 8 minute ring time for a front-wheel drive totally practical four-door hatchback that is guaranteed to be more reliable than i mean i only had five dash lights on when i drove my r8 home from uh san francisco yeah it's not all that reliable and here's the thing you can pick one up new yes brand new for 38 grand which is well less than a used supercar but ring times don't matter on the street my super car is faster off the line and no one's gonna care about handling when i leave yet the light unfortunately the next car on our list will have no problem walking away from any r8 from a dig but i'm pretty sure my car sounds better and this is the type of car that after you get done watching this video till the end go out to your local street and at a stoplight ask a tesla owner to rep their engine yeah you get some funny looks but the unfortunate part is well i don't want to admit that a tesla is way faster than a dinosaur powered r8 but the model 3 performance is well really fast and it's got a 0 to 60 time in three seconds silent and that's a full second faster than my audi so it's pretty hard to argue anything else plus if you want to get arrested by the taste police throw a wing and some suspension on it and it will run the ring faster than a v8 r8 as well for a lot less moola you want something new well it's really your only choice however i'm more of a mitsubishi lancer evolution guy which with a little bit of tuning can easily run supercars around most supercars can easily run circles around most supercars [Applause] and if you want to pick one up just so you can hunt me down get about 30 grand together and pick up a used evo here's an evo 8 for 27k right there you're kicking my butt and honestly the evo 8 and the evo 9 are perfect for the ideal car strategies because if you get the right one in the right spec at the ideal price well you can drive it and make money selling it in a year or two which is what i plan on doing with the r8 and then i'm probably going to go huracan but before you sell your evo you'll be able to enjoy a super hot all-wheel drive performance car that you can still use to get groceries in or if you want to live life on the wild side and you want to sacrifice all practicality you have bacon you have egg ish get a caterham or really just any well-sorted lotus super 7 replica sure they don't have the room for anything other than you and maybe one of your lighter friends so i probably couldn't ride with you plus there's no roof but they are hands down one of the most fun cars i have ever driven and handling and acceleration are just unreal the problem is that since they are often kit cars you don't know exactly what you're getting when you buy one the official cataram cars like the 500 super light often have mind blowing acceleration numbers like my head still hurts from driving one two years ago because i'm talking zero to sixty in less than three seconds and for 37 grand you are about the same price as a civic but some people just have really weird ideas and will build a super 7 replica with like a tired 22r motor and skimp on the suspension so just make sure you do your research and get a tried and true design rather than some backyard knockoff wait hold on small lightweight emphasis on on handling no it couldn't be is it miata time no no way no stinking way a little miata is faster than my r8 this is not real life but guys the numbers they don't lie an nc miata driven by none other than the test driver for the koenigsegg set a blistering ring time of 7 minutes and 49 seconds nearly 10 seconds faster than my supercar and what's crazy is that it didn't even have a ton of mods it just had a big brakes and an extra 50 horses and bolt-ons and also some serious tires which toyo if you're listening um we'd love some new tires for the r8 girth brooks is uh looking pretty bald and i think that we can chalk up this miata being so fast to well having a phenomenal driver and not a nut behind the wheel and that's something to keep in mind if you're really wanting to smoke me on the track you better fix the loose nut behind the steering wheel but a miata isn't the one that stings the most miata was driven by a pro driver and set up just for that race nope get your popcorn out boys because the one that actually hurts is the volkswagen gti [Music] i think i think i got it i got to go to the bathroom for a second i think i just got sick to my stomach because it's a car that you can get used for less than 10 grand and it doesn't take much for them to be faster than an r8 in fact stock even the older mark v golf can hold its own on the ring and with a little bit of tuning it's easy to go toe and toe off the line [Music] and the mark 7 golf r is faster around the ring the reason it hurts so much is that because well the golf is a volkswagen you know the same company that built the audi r8 and they are both all-wheel drive but the golf has half the displacement plus it's more economical it has twice the number of seats and none of the style well i mean they're not bad looking but not as much style as the r8 so what's up with that how could they let their own little hatch be faster around the track than their flagship and for so much less money too i mean you can get a 2016 golf r for just 33 grand or the really smart buy is buy an older generation for pennies on the dollar toss a few mods on it and yes you will smoke me at the track i guarantee it and with all that being said i'm gonna be honest with you guys i wouldn't trade my r8 for any of them on this list performance like my mom said isn't everything i mean my 911 can hold its own against the r8 but i have never driven anything that feels as good to drive nor anything that looks as good as girth brooks or really anything and and this is important that makes me feel like such a winner so
