hey guys this is James White a frequent review is bringing you as seen on tv products reviews gadget reviews and more now I feel like what you see please consider subscribing for more videos like this today I'm in the search of the ultimate jar opener I have 7 completely different designs I'm gonna compare them and see which one comes out on top so without further delay let's get right to it alright was back in 2016 I did the Robo twist which is an automatic jar opener and I've got a lot of questions over the years about what sharpener I would suggest this one wasn't it so I thought maybe I would get a bunch of different jar burners and see which one I liked the best but I'm gonna include the Robo twist to compare to going to see others so let's get started with that one and see how it compares [Music] you may have seen a jar opener like this before this is the brand called a meows probably butchering it but there's other brands to sell this type of jar opener I just picked one that seemed to be highly rated it wasn't too expensive this one also comes bundle with a can opener it's like it has multiple sizes it's also be curious how this one does here's the info on this sharpener [Music] this is the easy off which is the only one of these jar openers that actually mounts underneath your cabinets so I'll have to go in the kitchen and do this one it's got pretty high reviews on Amazon so I'll be curious how this one does but here's the specs on the easy off [Music] this sharpener is under the name Kitsch which which came in this box right here the way this one works is that you simply clamp it onto your jar and turn it looks like it's pretty simple device this could have been an event in hundreds of years ago maybe it was maybe it's a classic design that still works so see how that one goes here's the specs on the kitchen [Music] this is the swing away swing away is a pretty simple design also my mom actually uses one just like this I picked this one up buy at Amazon and it has a very high range it can from very small to pretty large so I'll be curious how this one does here's the info on the swing away [Music] this is the life fight this and the Robo twist the two most expensive sharpeners I've got it's a German made product actually it's made in China but the instructions are in German and it also looks like it does bottles and jars so we'll see how this one does as well next up we got the Ox oh good grips this one I believe is also sold I think it by Bath and Beyond I definitely get into Amazon it's a pretty simple design not far off from how the easy-off works as well so this will be interesting to compare those two here's the info on the Aqsa good grips [Music] so these are the jars that I've chosen for my test I could have chosen any number of jars these are the ones I picked actually one is a bottle and the rest of jars all my pickle jars are gonna be new the rest are gonna be hand tightened for each one because sometimes jars are hard open they're hand tight and sometimes it's harder because they're new it's really a little bit of both and once again it's not scientific so if you're complaining about my scientific method you've missing the point I'm gonna start from small to large on this one so let me start off with the one inch bottle cap of the soy sauce I guess I'll just use this one so I guess it goes kind of like that well very simple not bad not bad how about the next largest size of sun-dried tomatoes I'm not sure which one will fit in there it's like it's gonna be that size easy easy how about the tightened jelly jar that's also gonna be this size oh it is slipping off we have our first fail let me try the larger size one that's not gonna work either has to be this one yeah I'm not getting it it's not opening it's failing it's slipping right off I just one did not pass that test let's keep going though ooh it's not even gonna fit on this peanut butter jar will it fit on the pickle jar I haven't open this one yet but let me see I can get it on there maybe it's taking me a lot of force just to get the jar opener on there okay you got it on there okay you know actually works pretty well in the behind the pickles I don't know about this one because not only did I not open the jelly jar but also I had to really pull it apart to get on the pickle jar so this one's just sink right to the bottom to me this is easy off which is the only jar opener that I have to mount somewhere so here I am in the kitchen I'm gonna put it right here which is a good spot for our jars now there's two ways about this one they have a peel and stick which I'm not sure how well an adhesive is gonna do if you have a really tough jar they also give you some screws in case you need extra strength I'm gonna try just the peel and stick for right now and see if that is enough to hold for these jars I'm going to test it with so let's do right now all right well that seemed just thickened there pretty well it's pretty firm let me start with some of the smaller jars first all right there it is tighten that okay let's try it out slide it in which what do you would twist it well there goes easy let's keep going peanut butter now this case you actually turn the jar instead of the lid which is a little bit different so you actually turn it you turn the jar clockwise whereas you can open the lids it's counterclockwise on open jar of pickles oh no problem I kind of like the convenience of this one a lot though actually whoa easy easy easy it is easy off this is the smallest one let's see if this works oh wow it did work very quick and very convenient I'm kind of a fan of this one protip open your cabinet before you mount it because I really didn't mean to do that oops if it ever comes off I'll move it back but I guess it's not too bad next up is the kit which the $13 off frame which is a pretty simple design see how it does that's how this grabs on to it I'm supposed to just kind of tighten it hold the jar and turn it counterclockwise oh wow that was pretty little effort thumps I'm a little impressed came right off a brand new jar cool let's try something smaller no problem no problem let's keep going keep going nope no effort whatsoever very simple now what happens we get a big plastic peanut butter jar that's severely tightened because someone didn't know how to stop tightening it took a little bit of effort not a lot but a little bit effort on that one not quite as impressive as the others will it work on the one inch bottle cap let's see No not working oh wait did work I kind of had to tighten it up quite a bit more I had to tighten this part I had to use some force to make that tight and then it worked not quite as impressive all it did work certainly a solid went very good on the jars though you're not worried about the smaller ones certainly a good option let's try the life height with the German markings and the made in China slime and see how that one does next let me hand tighten all these first that's right this looks like some sort of medieval torture device or something isn't it definitely grabs onto it I got pickle juice in my hand well there wasn't much force required to open that jar I may have been use of force here not a lot a little bit of force I've got a smaller jar now oh I see four smaller jars you see how it has a smaller section with the tabs on top that's kind of cool it doesn't work out very easy too easy now if I had some All Hands this might be kind of hard to reach this large gap right here okay that was pretty easy not too bad I do hope though that when it's that wide of a grip you're gonna might have a problem like my mom's 4 foot 11 I don't know if she would be able to stretch her hands that far so in this case you used that to grab the bottle which I like it's kind of cool very simple oh yeah very simple so that's my fight let's see what's next this is the ox oh good grips jar opener let's see how it does this one comes with a base pad you can actually plate the jar on to reduce it from slipping which actually is kind of a cool idea so you put the jar on that so it won't twit that's actually a pretty good idea there's also a little arrow that tells you which way to turn it so I think it's pretty well designed but how does it actually work brand new pickle jar counter clockwise with the Ox ooh okay I got it the right spot not too bad that was pretty pretty easy it took me just a second to get in the right spot but there wasn't much force involved I definitely liked this pad this is genius actually make sure that's plenty tightened no I chose this one because it's a plastic jar and not a glass jar it's a little bit different design so and it's also a larger lid so this could be a problem for some people peanut butter jars are notoriously hard to get open not too bad not too bad at all that was very simple the infamous jelly jar much smaller that's why I chose this one because it's small the idea is to kind of slide it on there until it's in the right spot it does seem to ticket a little bit to get it in the right place not too bad I chose this one because it's a similar size but a thicker cap 2ez 2ez i got this one because it's about a 1 inch cap not all of them are gonna be able to open this but I'm gonna hand tighten it and it's supposed to go in there until you kind of get the right spot and then you just turn it there we go I think it did pretty well didn't really struggle with any of these it's pretty simple and pretty easy to use not a lot of power required pretty happy with it this is the Robo twist which I did in 2016 completely different than the others just fully automatic no hands needed and it has the limitations things like plastic it's not as good with nor is it good with small bottles but let's see how it does and another new jar pickles all right now this one all you do is place it on there oh whoa whoa you know I've had this thing for years it still surprised me what happens now as far as the geek factor goes this is like the Tesla of the jar openers but it may not be as functional as a Tesla hands-free now it's grabbing it with these hands here [Applause] easy now it's releasing very cool do it oh yeah oh yeah the Robo twist is good when you're not in a hurry it can take quite a while for each jar to open it's not taking it's taking this time you're not really supposed to use it on plastic jars like this I think for the instructions it's been a while since I read the instructions we're gonna do it anyways right do it do it do it it seemed to slip let me see if it actually opened it I was turning some more it didn't open it well it did open it now I don't think it can even do a bottle this size I'm pretty sure it can't it's getting close the tension mounts the suspension builds will it do it it might [Applause] the device itself is moving let's see if it actually opened it or not oh it did open it it is not tightened it actually worked whether or not is the most efficient is certainly the coolest of all of these let's try the swing away and see how this does a pretty simple device all you do is pull the handle down sly to your desired size and that's it okay so I'm supposed to just push this handle in okay so I push it I pull it down so I can adjust it and then I just squeeze it so it grabs on to it oh wow not too bad so far it seems a little weird at first but I get the idea let's go to the peanut butter jar get in there there we go a little bit of effort took a little bit of effort and took a little bit of fumbling - how about the smaller jars it's going in that hole but I really need to go on the one in front of it I can't get in there so pulling it down to adjust it right okay no problem that's hitting the side as you can see what's going through this one I nearly need to be one closer I guess I can push it through there manually that might work oh yeah that's working okay so that worked but I don't know let's try another one that wasn't bad not bad not for a really small one oh yeah pretty simple I like it I don't know if I love it but I like it so how do I pick between all of these in this very unscientific and not so exhaustive demonstration of seven jar openers let me pick my least favorites to start off with this one I ranked at the bottom the ah meows or however it's pronounced because it has a limit to the jar size which isn't very big and I even had a problem opening the jelly jar that was fitting in there but it was slepping slipping right off I don't think this one is really a contender compared to the rest of them number six I'm gonna say is the life height it's this one in the Oromo twist of the most expensive but this one the problem with this one is that when you get a small jar in here you have your hands so far apart you don't get much of a grip I think that's kind of a design flaw because something like this you have a lot of power when your hands are spreading like that not much power so I think this one is it as good as the others I'm putting the swing away at number five I think it did pretty good but a couple times I had a hard time getting the right adjustment it seemed like these holes where one was too big almost too small it took me I had to manually push it through the right one it's pretty good otherwise I think that it's certainly a good option but I don't think it was as good as some of the others I'm gonna put the Robo twist at number four now it did work on all of them which I thought was impressive it's a very cool device but it takes so long for each one to open plus sometimes you have to hold the button a couple times it's not perfect but if you have for some people that have certain disabilities this is great but I think that compared to the others on all things equal it does work but it's just so slow it kind of puts it below some of the others so to me Robo twist is number four I'm putting number three as the Kitsch wit I had nothing really bad to say about this one the only thing that the only reason I put this below the others is because you have to kind of get it in place and tighten it and then move your hand around really that's a minor complaint I think it worked pretty well on everything I threw at it so I think that the kitchen would certainly belong to the top three all right that leaves us with the top two which is the Ox oh and the easy off some reason I want to keep saying easy open did I say easy open before well it's easy off all right so I have to pay I can't pick a tie I know that's anti-climatic so I will pick one it's a tough choice I don't think and go wrong with either one but I'm gonna go with the easy off only because I particularly like the way it's mounted and that you hold the jar the entire time I don't have anything bad to say about this one that's just a design I like if you like the power of using your hand I'd go to the Ox oh but really you can't go wrong with either one of those two price-wise this one is about five dollars cheaper than the easy off other than that it's a pretty close top two so that's it that's all I've got
