this is it not no let's check who's at the door right now oh my gosh what a treat this is my son Jay oh my gosh the heart squad so this is this is gonna be we gonna be opening this up yeah this is a fresh pita box just back from PSA 160 summer PSA graded cars where we come again ahem in 67 greatest cards vintage this box vintage Japanese some English well come on in my man come on in check out this place you gotta check out this video over here yeah make yourselves comfortable and let's let's just let's catch up okay all right Gary last time I saw you I was in we were in Dallas Texas my hometown we are now on your home turf yes we are and it looks like you also got something else right there when you know something last time we showed a couple of those nice cards and I wanted to show all their brothers and sisters brothers this is going to be an exciting thing to go through it's you know part of my collection and it's a very very very big part this is a big part of yes yes okay value-wise so what would you say the value is of whatever we are about to see that's in that bunker a what is in this box at today's market value and the actual price we could sell them for this week is about $600,000 $600,000 yes sir oh yeah I'll give you a little peek first okay let's just get a little peek and then I'm gonna have to uh mm-hmm check this out oh my these aren't gonna be all charts are there oh my god every story just might be alright alright squad are you ready for this oh my gosh it's a first is the first edition gem mint PSA ten Charizard please don't tell me the rest of those cards on there are the exact same as this one well they're very close about half of these are know exactly the same as that is this and about half of these are shadowless oh you've got some shadows as well yes we have about ten I know you were mentioning last time in last last time I recorded you were saying just how much you loved the shadowless pokemon yes eventually the Charizard Pokemon card right so okay I think we should get into this box so let's uh should I do it one at a time sounds good whatever you think is best alright you know however you're the heart squad would like to see them let's check it alright so I'm here with Gary from Pawn Stars and special guest today here in Las Vegas and we have his little mystery box probably the most expensive mystery box of cards that I'll be opening up in Pokemon card history probably but so far we pulled out this first one just the first edition of PSA 10 base set Charizard and I'm gonna go one by one pulling out the cards from this box and I Gary free to jump in at any time to let me know any background about these another first edition PSA ten yes well I can tell you this about over 15 years ago he opened up a first edition base box okay yeah that was okay 2001 18 years ago I opened up a box pulled three first edition base charizard three and back then I was I was actually a Sports collectors so I did a lot of business with PSA yeah well I took those three I sent them into PSA all three came back PSA tens now that is super hard to believe that's mighty hard to believe but I actually have an eyewitness are you do yes Joel angle who's in the Pokemon community I was living at his house and I had a store at antique store okay in Columbus Ohio yeah I opened it in front of him he saw gamble and so are these you know that's that's a very good question one or two or three could be but I just don't completely yeah you know it's so many years ago you know 18 years ago I can't remember which ones go with which you know right yeah well it's safe to say we'll continue looking through this box and you can see these serial numbers though are pretty old oh yeah now the ruffed of 440 these are how do they do the serial Keys exactly is it just like once they do a card it doesn't matter what it is they put another serial and I'm pretty much an order just in order pretty much in order they do about a million cards a year million cars a year million cards a year and these days Pokemon takeout takes up a very good percentage of those I couldn't manage to be it used to be almost all sports and Pokemon might might be one percent yeah now Pokemon is probably close to twenty percent that's great in fact we have a really happy we have our own PSA Pokemon specials o haunt they do so they only recognize and I definitely love a PSA cart as well right for grading Pokemon cars I'm single time I'm pulling out another card it's another like essentially what thirty to forty thousand dollar card for each of these right yeah so right you here once sold two weeks ago for forty thousand dollars right once before that we're right in the thirty thousand range you know so I did have to ask you I did like there's been some news articles recently about a first citizen base at booster box that went on auction and sold I don't know if it was either for seventy or fifty six thousand dollars you see anything about that I can tell you this Huggins and Smith uh harm which is a oxygen house a big sports auction okay I was not aware they put this was last week okay they I wish I brought that magazine to their catalogue to show you um they put the Pokemon first edition base box right on the cover in the sweet spot of the cover surrounded by Babe Ruth Ty Cobb on uh Jim Brown in football yeah and right in the sweet spot was a first edition base box that shows you how far Pokemon has come that's great it is when I know you don't need to use like advocate kind of getting the name out there as well for ever since 1999 I said nine pokemon and anyway with that box that did sell on auction for $56,000 but the buyer had to pay a twenty three percent premium to the auction house so twenty three percent of fifty six thousand you know maybe you could add on another twelve thirteen thousand so uh so the buyer paid nearly seventy thousand dollars every first edition base box so that's that's incredible yes Wow and they were not guaranteed to even receive one of these that's the thing you you want you but if you potentially open up the box you're not probably gonna get as lucky as you did that one time no three Charizard I said I never got that lucky before or that was a wonderful purpose if you do pull one of these first edition Charizard and then what do you think like the odds of even if you decided to open up the box is the risk of getting a factory air or an off-centered card more than actually you just pulling out a card and being like I'm gonna send it in to PSA and it's gonna get back at ten I can feel confident about that would you feel it's worth it to even open it up or like tip for the if somebody was crazy enough to open up a box like that do you think that would be or like the ah statistically I don't know I can I can tell you this that you figured a pull a Charizard the odds say since there's twelve hollows per box you figure to pull one of these in whatever condition in three out of four boxes okay so you might get three Chargers out of four boxes the odds say of course you can open three boxes in a row and get zero charge or you can open up one box like I didn't get three Charizard yeah but when you average it out it figures to about three chars arts / 4 boxes now the value wise the chances of getting to 10 honestly the first disobey set mm-hmm they used new cutters when they cut the sheets okay the booster pack it was a brand new thing just over here you know the idea from Japan they had new blades they cut beautifully they cut really nicely so actually the first edition sets are the nicest really yeah the shadowless in turn yeah and a little bit of a fall off because they cut so many sheets that now they're on the shadowless sheets and not quite as sharp and then they got to the unlimited as a via moment in flight and the unlimited is very difficult to get tens so there's always a little bit of silver in me as the blades got a little bit duller right and they were pumping them out so fast back then because of the popularity mm-hmm that they didn't take the time to change the blades so what is that I technically make an unlimited like Charizard holographic 10 wouldn't that made that pretty pricey or not really in what way well because you're saying it's it's very difficult since they're blades and like the cutter in of the stuff for by the time it got to the unlimited print run and it's hard to get a PSA ten in the woman at one woman's that make it a little bit more relatively so if it makes it relatively more expensive compared to a nine okay in that but the first edition is so iconic and so far out there above everything else right that that matters a little bit less i they were a little bit better condition because the new blades uh-huh but you know still it's almost on a whole different level it's almost out of a different discussion right and now the shadowless is meeting it's getting that discussion yeah and then the bass unlimited I'm sure in time and John same right like I have in that auction I have on eBay uh-huh that oh yeah not there's ninety PSA tens uh-huh 49 of those are our PSA ten base 49 ayah four I have forty nine of those okay forty nine PSA tens that's yes oh my gosh alright so uh I'm just reaching reaching in this like grab bag special box and every single time I'm pulling a card out it's another first edition PSA ten card so another cool thirty to forty thousand dollars right there and just it is such an iconic card and that's why I personally myself I have my own first edition gorgeous card and I see it I used to have sealed booster boxes like a lot of the Wizards of the coast boxes like sky Ridge neo destiny all the e-series boxes and I actually I sold all those boxes a while ago to help so I was able to get the Charizard because I just feel from a collector standpoint from a nostalgic standpoint as well it's just that card just it has a lot of meaning and and also I believe from a collector standpoint as well that is the figurehead of the it's the figurehead of the hobbyist so and right here a whole thing and also I want to say something about your Charizard mm-hmm you know there's different there's ranges in quality even with the 10 parameters there's a there's a range there's weak ones there's medium ones or there's some like my pristine beat Becket's one um you know that is superb yeah I saw your Charizard yours is superb so that that card that card you have is actually even better than most great I'm happy about that yeah I'm really happy about that so I and also I didn't mention that it's it's also signed by Miss Anita Arita original illustrator of the card as well and I know your bgs one is also signed but I don't know of any other PS a Tim first edition Charizard that are signed beside yours I don't know the PSA one and then you're back at one I believe are there only PSA ten first edition bgs 10 or BBS 10 yes might be the only PSA Tim I'm pretty sure it's the only PSA 10 one but I mean you never know exactly but when I brought it in to him at the convention or the regionals when I went to write it was the first one he's ever signed and that was in January so even he was impressed he was very very impressed he was all he was also impressed when I bought it brought him a sealed shadowless starter deck Oh like a little you know the seal starter decks yes and it was shadowless yes and it was still sealed and he had help in designing some of the cards for that as well that's what his reaction for that was he even more than the reaction of the cards Ariana like it just helped I think it held a lot of nostalgic value for him that's it's not a money thing right it's it's what so let's keep on going this alone okay every single time it's another first edition so how many is this so far 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and what's the Oh what do you know 10 first edition I can't even like hold them all at end it's almost like you're playing poker hey this isn't it feels like this is the perfect place being here in Vegas there it is the back of the ones and safety oh so it looks like a different it's something different I'm actually sad it's different but now this is a really good different this is a PSA 10 shadowless card yes and so for just for people that are watching this for the first time can you just do a quick sparknotes version of what's the difference between first edition shadowless well you know actually the Wizards of the coast who is a company in Renton wish Renton Washington uh-huh they never threw anything away they used everything and that's why we have a lot of anomalies in those early sets of Pokemon mm-hm all the shadowless is is part of the first edition sheets that you see they were planning on doing a 10 percent first edition run and then a 90 percent unlimited run shadowless was simply unlimited to them back then mm-hm and they had some new artwork sheets coming but they weren't they weren't there yet so they had to get those out and they sure as heck working a waist anything right oh they used the first edition sheets and didn't stamp on them a death the first unlimited run these were meant to be first edition cards okay since they hit their estimate of the 10% mm-hmm first edition to unlimited they hit what they figured was gonna be the 10% they stopped then they just started not putting the first edition stamp on those fur on those sheets that were meant to originally be first edition I hope I'm not being too confusing there I'm so just I'm just like drawn like hearing it it's just it's so great if so much knowledge about other thing yeah well I was involved I was you know back at the end of 1998 I was actually you know very involved in this so I got a lot of word a lot of stories from back then yeah so and I was in Washington a bunch you know getting cards swapping out car in Washington okay and also maybe a real quick story that's not well known yeah I had the sometimes you would open up a bass unlimited pack uh-huh and the card would be real real badly cut silver rounded or maybe a little crease or maybe a little extra cut oh yeah you know terrible pack scratches in the hollow huh and you could send those back to Wizards of the coast watch me and they would send you replacements for him oh well I did that with a couple cards with regular shadowed unlimited cards I did that and they returned shadowless cards to me Roy and so even incredibly back then I was interested in shadowless even in the very beginning yes because of the difference because the difference yeah and so I started looking for problems with Hollow card sending them in knowing that they were gonna return shadowless cards new ones to me yeah and and again they have they they don't throw anything away so they cut those up on with them in the replacement room has unlimited and so I just kept sending and they kept sending the shadowless back I kept saying you know the absent shows back and my stack just went higher and higher and higher so finally they ran out in the replace oh my gosh and so that's why I ended up with so many shadowless cards right from Wizards yeah man he's a great story it's like I want you to keep on any of her stories like keep on saying it cuz just great hearing this from you but these are all right here these are all shadowless ones so we have this massive stack these were all the first edition ones so far these have been all shadowless and five of them right here also 110 all PSA ten so these are perfect condition graded by PSA card that's another one first edition I mean a shadowless one now I'm getting them confused I was still I was holding so many first edition ones but just yeah holding this many never thought I'd be able to hold this many of them but incredible see Oh what do you know it's another shadowless and it looks like there's several more cards in here so it's another shadow this one and I'm seeing something else at the bottom of the box and it looked hard you're familiar I am awfully maybe a little bit familiar with that one oh look at this so how many how many is this so far or shallows cards he has a three six seven eight nine so is it's gonna be so you have ten first edition you said this is like just like that like the ball like not even scratching your collection right well for these cards it's I have a few more of the first edition base it is all my shadowless and a few more first edition base of course my collection is a lot of other different kinds of cards yeah a pretty extensive yeah so do you have and you have like do you have like other types of sealed boxes and stuff I do have sealed boxes I was never I guess I never had the discipline not to open boxes right I wasn't much of a sealed box collector yeah but I do have a very amazing item which I keep in my storage locker in Northern California Sacramento California oh if I had it here I would show you yeah it is a case of first edition base boxes oh my yes case papers occasion of six boxes six boxes now I am NOT a PAC collector I'm not a box collector a sealed product collector otherwise back then I would have saved and saved and saved you know yeah the old product you're like some hack it's meant to be opened up and see what you get inside yeah I mean I would get one and I would think well I'm gonna keep one of each and then all of a sudden me and the kids would get together yeah ah let's open up that one so we and that happen more times than once that's right Rui we didn't do very well we're saving sealed problems would you ever opening up those boxes or is that like a time capsule kind of no I would never open that box right I did open half the flap okay I don't know if I can you know show you but like I can't really show you what a slight but I opened up half of it on this way with it's sealed this way just so I could see let's see what was on the inside back then I couldn't tell from the outside what was on the inside besides being poking my bass packs haha boxes so I did I did open up half so and then there's a flap here and a flap here okay and so I was able to see that they were first edition boxes and that I never touched them again and speaking of a this little box right here let's uh let's take a look at this this car didn't now the heart squad is gonna be familiar at least your old timers yeah there are gonna be familiar with this car er they have seen it before okay so now I'm gay you may have okay I guess the previous video that you went you he was in mmm-hmm there it is there it is ladies and gentlemen actually how much is this one worth now probably that one is nearing a hundred thousand I would think oh my gosh this one card right here it is also signed by meter heater Arita the illustrator of the card for the pokemon card game and it's a Beckett 110 and is signed on the case it's all signed on the case yeah it's not on the card itself it's just on a case but so you haven't get a closer look at that sorry if it's not totally in focus but Beckett has the actual subgrades for this card and it has a ten basically every single category centering is a 9.5 but even that it's still so this card is essentially like the cream of the crop right Beckett card and this card was looked at very closely recently my SM Pratt by Scott Pratt mm-hmm and he could not believe the beautiful condition that was in yeah it looked with a magnum fire he checked all the corners and uh and he said this is the nicest one he's ever seen and I got to tell you and I gotta tell you Leon I think yours yeah it has a chance to do this that's the day because I because yours is like pristine like this one yeah and it might be especially with you living in down right yeah this is where Beckett says it might be worth doing a little crossover check you know maybe yeah that's a good idea that's really good eggs that's a big big dozen to you guys that would make number three and then I have to find some way to get you to sell it to me wait sir how many of these Beckett pristine ten there's two in the world and you don't have I have two a king I haven't both the king has both of them so just nonchalantly from this box right here we have this card which is roughly close to $100,000 these are the shadowless one so ten shadowless first edition Charizard I mean shadowless Charizard we're about to get those are in the 12,000 range for each of them for each okay uh-huh so 12,000 to the shadowless ones 12,000 yeah that would be a hundred and twenty thousand okay right and then ten first edition ones and say they're say they're just 30 yeah that would be three hundred thousand four hundred thousand five hundred and twenty five hundred fifty thousand yeah wow that's a quite the collection over here from the like what do you like to be called like is it like that is the kick King Pokemon you just want to go with King pose yeah well I'm your Gary from Pawn Stars what do you like yeah that's that's a good question because I take a lot of pride in both of those things I've been king Pokemon on eBay for many years and my reputation started there on eBay mm-hm the pawn stars show was about a year and a half ago that we got worthy a year now that we filmed it and then it showed about six months later so I'm really super proud about that because that kind of got my face out there a little bit right yeah and I mean I would go to our supermarkets and the bag boys would say are you Carrie from Pawn Stars really and I got you know such a kick out of that yeah and that you know it's you know I take a lot of pride in that too so I would answer to just about anything but those two things apparently I would or just Gary I I was curious since it's been several months since the last time we spoke can you just kind of go into especially well the big recent transactions kind of like the recent State of the Union address for Pokemon card games in Pokemon in general I'll tell you I'll tell you something it is so healthy mm-hmm it is so healthy now I mean all the indicators are there for continued growth mm-hmm plus there's some future things coming up I can tell you this I can't go into detail uh-huh this is you know kind of a scoop you know and when it happens the heart squad is gonna be able to look back to this day uh-huh so I can't go into detail but I can tell you this it's gonna be just a short time in the future there's gonna be a huge deal a huge transaction really yes and it's it's gonna hit seven figures and I have been in figures and this is this is gonna be happening in the coming months so I really can't say more than okay fine but you're but you're the heart squad is gonna be able to look back on this day that that's what Gary was talking about and so you all are gonna hear about it that together you're getting like a little like sneak preview heart squad this is this is crazy all right so and so that's gonna add to the popular I'll tell you I'll tell you something you and the heart squad has been major contributors to the popularity - I mean your numbers keep going up mmm the interest from the heart squad and the like you know the the interest is going up in like four years the players are turning into collectors families are involved yeah it's I mean I get as many calls from parents as I do from yeah young collectors you know for me just about everybody's young but let's say in the 30 20s you know teens 20s yeah early 30s you know their parents are actually contacted me you know saying you know hey I saw you on the heart squad or yeah I saw you on Pawn Stars are you know you know are these things really worth that much you know we collected the binders are in the attic somewhere and the parents are are some of them say you know we just threw away back no but some of them you know of the parents or the kids to to validate their interest though they they're bringing their parents in they're saying hey look at this you know look at this Pawn Stars half a million dollar collection yeah look at look at what Leon's showing today you know you know a hundred thousand dollars and then the parents who before would you know just you know poopoo thank you mom yeah yeah like what no but we got to go in the closet right now enjoy these cars now they're coming out and saying are you Seri is that real you know yeah and now it validates the kids you know it validates the you know their collections and the parents are taking it more seriously right and now what's happening those parents you know kids get a lot of their collectible genes for their parents right those those those parents were collectors to Sports collectors you know baseball cards and that and now they see what's happening with their their kids interest you know the Pokemon and now they're getting into it now that's where the big money's coming in they're the ones paying a lot of money they're the ones you know bite I mean this is my story and this is happening all the time now yeah so talk about adding to the health of our hobby yeah you know bringing you know bringing new people in and bringing the parents and bringing the families and you know having amazing you know channels like yours you know that actually that is very that that is you know you know just so authentic and so entertaining them thank you and I mean that that's why this hobby is growing and is there an end in sight I don't see how I don't see the end in sight they're still producing Pokemon mm-hmm they're doing some new things with the Pokemon company in the future like right Pokemon go there's some new things coming out in the future yeah oh yeah the massive games coming out yes that'll get a lot of new people coming in to either like it to getting like a Nintendo switch but then getting into they released the new pokemon card sets which gets people interested in the new ones and there's always people asking me I'm just starting to collect again they have recommendations I'd love to collect some of the older stuff as well yeah and that's where they come in getting some of the vintage cars right as long as that interest is there they're gonna keep producing sets if they keep producing boxes keep producing sets mm-hmm those kids collecting those new ones today in 10-15 years they're gonna be the lawyers the doctors we have all the money they're gonna buy those memories back again I think like we talked about one time before mm-hmm it's gonna be you know that that's gonna carry over 10-15 years in the future and then right yeah yeah and so I I would say there's a lot for us to be optimistic I'm so happy to hear that yeah really happy to hear that so I know we have this other box that I'm actually using as a stand right now that in this box is what you say it was like 160 something great at PSA cards yeah I sent in an order okay and I see when I heard you were in town and I wanted to get together I wanted to bring something yeah you know for you to show the heart squad mm-hmm and I know you do a lot of openings that everybody gets a real thrill out of and I thought well this is a little bit different these are just PSA graded cards and and so I I brought this box for you to open and show the Squad about 160 some are cars there's a lot it's all vintage all vintage it's all vintage yeah it's all jungles fossils team rockets and the majority or Japanese oh they are these are from 1996 1997 okay in 1998 is for those those vintage years and Japanese yeah and I assure you that there is well over half of these cars that they were just so beautiful are gonna be grading tens but we're gonna have to wait and see that you know when you open it up show the heart squad we'll see how many tens so I hope they're not on seventh and eighth okay now that I talked about is there is there a specific card in there that you're really happy to see the score back and you're but you're kind of nervous about maybe you're not really you're just like we're gonna open it and you love them all you know I love them all there might be two or three or four cards that if they hit a 10 then they'd be you know you know a very nice amount okay you know but I don't know I don't know if those got those numbers maybe you know as we look at them together someone come up and we'll see all right well unfortunately for this specific video I didn't want to let it run too too long because you had such amazing stuff to say including this box full of all these graded cards so what I'm gonna do is we're gonna stop this video but then the next video that I post which will be in like a day or two is gonna be when we're opening up this box so be
