50 Foot Class C Extreme RV // Super C Interview and Tour

this beauty was parked next to us and weighed in Maryland said I could give an interview and videotape and Wade's going to tell us about his class C extreme RV we're Dave and Karen from Lots on Wheels and we sold our Sticks and Bricks to RV full time now that we are retired we travel with our heavy duty truck Leroy our two Canon motorcycles our drv Dixie and our Smart Car Zippy don't forget to subscribe and click on that Bell to be notified when we post a new video well it's a it's a series 60 Detroit Diesel and one of the uh the older reliable kinds it has a 12-speed auto shift transmission uh it's been really really good to us it has about 200 and 10 212 000 miles on it we've really done nothing to it other than change oil and filters you do that yourself uh no actually I send it in it we're in Pennsylvania so we have an annual state inspection so I have the state inspection and the oil and service done all at the same time and you're the only owner I'm the only owner yeah it's a 2006. yep where's it made at it was built in um gosh where is it Zimmerman Minnesota oh by Kingsley coach okay took about a year by the time from the time we started talking to them to the time it was delivered it was just about a year it was delivered in March of 2006. it's hard to believe it's that old it just it looks so new yeah well you've kept it up well we take good care of it it's been good to us so we try to be good to us we keep it in a heated garage when we're not driving it we ordered it as a logging truck so they delivered it as a triple frame a double frame and in Parts a triple frame and then they installed the body on top of it so it's it's built for extreme Duty it has locking Rears it has a locking inter enter differential so it's kind of like a four-wheel drive for uh for a coach that size and brakes brakes are just standard drum brakes okay and it's how long it's 50 feet and how tall please don't tell anybody okay it's a 13 five and a half 13 feet five and a half inches tall I see you got your caps up there keep the rain out yep yep we initially designed it to be used uh I guess what what you call dry camping I use it for uh business as well as for pleasure so I I designed it so that it could be Standalone for a week it has a 20kw generator starts and stops automatically it has eight 8D batteries that run two three thousand watt inverters they let acid batteries or right now they're lead acid we're thinking about going to lithium but the generator starts and stops automatically it has 120 gallons of fresh water so it's designed for me to be on site not hooked up to power for about a week and I can take normal showers and you know do normal stuff and how big is a gray and black tank they're I think they're 70 gallons a piece okay how many gallons does it hold it holds a fuel it holds uh let me think it's uh 160 gallons of usable so it has two 80 gallon usable fuel tanks okay and then you have a garage in the back of this I do let's um do a little walk around and see what you have for storage and we'll check out the garage okay that sounds good there they are so the first phase is batteries only so there are eight eight D batteries they're about oh gosh I can't remember around 125 pounds a piece and they're tied into the next Bay which is our electric Bay foreign sideways too yep so this is oh I want it all of our electrical circuits to uh to end in one spot so I can check my Breakers or my fuses so all of the electrical stuff is behind us here we have a load sharing Transformer right there that combines or singles out the the 3000 watt inverters it's a kind of an energy management system excellent yeah the the engineers did a good job they're uh they're Outback inverters and they've been very reliable for us nice yeah well that's really compact it is they've packed stuff in there that's for sure this is a storage bin on this side gotta have your tools yeah and are these um are you single tires or they're dual oh okay I see it 10 Tires independent suspension as well air suspension it's all air ride okay well you can't get much prettier than this I'll tell you this is cool ER is air operated okay I can keep two motorcycles wow that's big in there and that's underneath your bed and closet your bedroom yep the bedroom is up above when I had this built I wanted the same living space as I had in my old 45-foot coach but I wanted the the garage underneath and the only way I could do that was with a front engine motor coach so the the floor is electric and the floor drops down it makes its own Ram I'll show you how that works you're kidding foreign [Applause] now did it come that way it did what is this model called it's a custom just a custom yeah write it right out and write it right in that is sweet it works well and I can see where you could put another one right there yeah I can park two two Baggers as we would call it and it's quite it's plenty tall you got a tall shield on your motorcycle yeah you can leave the windshield up and then you've even got extra storage for Cabinetry in there for Stuff that's nice in front that's where all my wet tanks are that's all the space the garage is actually heated it has its own separate thermostat so it keeps the the water tanks and the black and gray tanks heated so they don't freeze okay it's designed for Minnesota it was built in Minnesota ah awesome yeah you want to go ahead and put that back up sure that is nice have never seen that before [Music] foreign and then you tow your truck behind as well right so this pickup truck behind yep your Denali four-door and uh that makes you a little longer now doesn't it we come in around somewhere between 72 and 75 feet yeah well this is this is really nice what you got over on this side on this side we've got the the generator that's where your controls were for the garage right yep the dump valves and the uh oh okay the electric cord reel and all that stuff are in here so you don't have automatic dumping from inside I do oh you do I can dump from here or from inside yeah okay that's nice and you got three slides all together and the ones in the living room are huge okay I love how they did the paint along the slides on the sides too that's beautiful the first phase for the Aqua Hut [Music] okay so I guess it's all our hot water and our Heat preheats the engine to start all that stuff oh okay awesome yeah this is another storage Bay can't have too much storage nope give me a workout today this is our generator wow it's nice it's automatic yep it's all automatic start comes out on a slide to service and then this is our Hydraulics and compressed air all the pumps for the leveling system the slide outs and the air compressor air compressor so you got private coach on the sides you ever been stopped by the D.O.T no all right what you got in here that's the series 60 Detroit Diesel it's a 515 horsepower and that's what you wanted right off the bat and there's that and is that standard with the standard yep I've not modified it or anything like that the only thing I've done to it is put in a larger alternator 300 amp alternator you must have this thing detailed every year we do we do so the Chrome looks gorgeous and the paint job still looks new take good care of it looking for Reliable never had any issues nope excellent well Wade we certainly do appreciate it we'll go take a look inside now okay we'll do excellent all right let's take a look inside oh my goodness this is huge in here wow did you design all this yourself I did we had uh we had three rare engine coaches before and I was looking for something that would give me the interior that I this is a copy of the interior of our last coach we had a 45-foot rear engine coach uh Kingsley duplicated the interior for us and added the garage in the back so this is designed to be usable with the slide outs in I spend time on the road sometimes I'll stop for the night and a rest area or a truck stop and I wanted this particular design to be usable with the slide out settings that's pretty much what they gave me so it's livable without the slides being put out it is it is maneuver around that's great so this is your last one was 45 foot and this one is 50 foot and your other one did not have the garage though did it it did not this is the only design I could find that had the full length living space like you would have in a 45-foot motor coach plus a 60 inch high 12 foot deep eight and a half foot wide garage okay so the garage doesn't it does not take away from the living space perfect well let's take a look around let's start up here in the front so what you got up here they uh Freightliner Coronado chassis and it has a 12 speed automatic shifting computer control shifting transmission it has two pedals it just has an accelerator and a break no clutch coat easy to drive it is I I think it's uh it's easier to drive than my pickup truck at the end of the day I'm less tired is that right yep just because of comfort well you have to yeah it's comfort you have to ignore what's behind you well you kind of it's far enough away right well let's see let's take take us through your living area here well initially we had it designed with two couches two fold out couches my boys were young when we bought it um I like to say there really aren't too many things I would do differently one thing I would like to do is change that small couch into two chairs yeah well you still can yeah I could yeah it's an all-electric coach there's no propane okay it has a diesel-fired heater provides hot water and Heat it has a 20kw diesel generator get solar panels too nope no solar panels fancy ceiling lights are Ambiance hides the air conditioners ah and you got a big screen drops down that's nice yep this is how big are these slides you know I don't remember why they're they're very long and your table pulls out I assume it does you can add two more chairs then you gotta flip up over here for more counter space we do very nice all wood probably got soft closed drawers and cabinets yeah we do it came with a trash compactor but we took that out are you kidding yeah trash compactor huh what is this drawer space that's just it yeah I'd want more drawer space too that's an induction cooktop oh okay that's a microwave slash and that's a residential yeah and that's electric yeah all electric yeah okay you do have a lot of storage space we do can I go back here sure okay so this is probably the water closet oh and it has its own sink yeah that's good size it gets pretty good storage in here too we do now is there anything that that you did differently in the design when you said you found this floor plan did they do any customization for you very little very little this is pretty much the way our livestock goes okay we like the sliding doors and sections off yeah oh you got to okay you got two of them here that's a pretty good-sized shower too yep with the fan in it which is good and so now we have a step up back here because underneath here is your garage yes that's right okay and then you got your another sink in here which is nice and dryer okay so you got a washer and dryer there closets there and that's a king bed or queen oh that's a queen okay and you got plenty of room to walk around it we do you could put a king in here if you wanted to you know very nice and then more storage over here too got a lot of storage that's what we needed yeah we all need a lot of storage very nice and this is a 2006. it looks new I like how you have a sliding door here and then another one there so that you can separate that that's the first time I've seen that actually well you must get a lot of comments when people see this we like to say it with the paint job it's hard to sneak up on it yeah the paint job is awesome how did you choose that honestly people don't believe me when I say this but when it was being built the engineers gave me a call one day and they said hey we want to put a coach in in a magazine and we're wondering if we could put yours in I said God I don't care and they said Well we'd like to maybe design the paint so that it's different and they said well you know basically paint it for half price if you let us pick the paint and I said what's it going to look like so they sent me three ideas but I really didn't know what it looked like until the day I picked it up to the day it was delivered and did you like it yeah yeah I did I like it for sure how do you choose campgrounds because obviously being 50 feet long and your turning radius is pretty you've got a swing on the back of this how do you choose your campgrounds generally speaking we call and we say hey we have a 45-foot coach do you have any room and this I because of the the shorter wheelbase I can put this in pretty much any place set of 45 foot coach would go Oh in fact you're one of the few people that know exactly how long this is for long do you get how often do you guys travel um it varies it varies from uh from year to year when we come down to Florida January through the end of March and then we'll have uh two or three trips later in the year I travel a lot I have customers that I visit the motorhome and I have a you know for fun I do motorcycle related things so I travel a lot with them who does the reservations and figures out where you're going uh generally when Maryland I have failed several times oh generally speaking we have a we use the big rigs Best Bets and Mega we have a an RV app that we use I think it's already trip wizard uh sometimes we just pick up the KOA Campground book and just look to see what's ahead of us and say hey do you have room for us sometimes we stay in truck stops sometimes we stay in rest areas when I'm by myself typically I just pick a rest area open front stuff your travel buddy yeah so it's only down here seems to be chilling out pretty good good traveler yeah he's a great traveler he just sits up between us for the whole day we stop once more for me because I feel guilty about flooding about one time during the day he's great he's just like this the whole time so well he likes dry one then when Wayne goes on a trip and this is out on our driveway pulling out without he's not now oh are there any words of wisdom you can think of people who want to RV in a large Class C just be nice to yourself you'll get you'll become accustomed to the size when things go wrong take a deep breath try again to mostly be nice to yourself and don't have your friends say come on by we have plenty of room and then you get there and go well what about those wires up there what about the trees that are leaning over yeah
